I have never had a bad experience with Ocean Grove Tire and Auto. They are my go to mechanics. Judy (front desk) always contacts you with issues that they find and get approval before they do any extra work.
I had a terrible experience. I called on Tuesday and made an appointment to drop my car off in the morning on the next Friday to replace the mass air flow and fix a pulley in my car. I dropped it off at 9am. The woman behind the desk told me that they may need to keep it over the weekend, but "either way" she would call me by the end of the day with an update. Friday comes and goes without any call. Little did I know was that they are not open on the weekends, therefore my car would just sit in their parking lot. I found out Friday night after they'd already closed for the day that they are closed on Saturday and Sunday. This was a huge inconvenience to be without a car all weekend when my car is still fully operable despite the current issues. I stopped by at 9am on Monday, saw my car was moved and unlocked in the parking lot. Thought hey maybe they did work on it? Went inside to find out they hadn't even looked it at yet, nor did they have a reason for not calling me other than they've been so busy. It makes me think my car was unlocked all weekend, too but I can't be sure. For all these reasons I asked for my key back and left without having anything done to my car. If they were that busy, why did they schedule my appointment to drop it off on Friday just to let it sit the whole weekend with no decency to call me about it. This was very careless and unprofessional of them. No communication or effort. I would not recommend.
I will never use another mechanic. I have been going to this shop for over 4 years. I brought my equinox here, then my Kia, and now I bring my jeep here. They have taken such good care of all of my cars past and present. I know when I bring my car here, that it will leave SAFER then when I brought it in. Judy johnson is the most patient receptionist and she goes out of your way to make your experience pleasant. Terrific owners, terrific mechanics, terrific staff.
Absolutely terrible experience. Brought it in because it wouldn't start and I had a frozen caliper that crushed my brake pad, it was given back to me with a faulty starter and no new calipers. They did rotors and brakepads, the faulty starter and an oil change, charged me $1000 for everything. The very next day it still wasn't starting, and the stench of burning plastic filled my entire vehicle whether it was moving or not... When I brought it back to see what the new issues were, I was told the caliper was not frozen the first time but the screws were, and that they released them before doing the rotors and brakes. This time, the caliper was frozen (AGAIN), and I that I was then going to be charged another $330. The woman that works at the desk was very helpful and caring and did get the labor waived for me but I feel like if they had just addressed the issue that was mentioned when it was brought in, i only would have had to bring it back because of the starter. I was charged an additional $130 ontop of the initial $1000 and I will never recommend or go back to this establishment ever again.
I have been taking my car to this business for 9 years, but today is extra special! My car broke down yesterday due to my alternator after leaving the hospital of my family member who was declared very terminally ill and when I called this morning, I just asked maybe for a courtesy timeframe so I could know how to make arrangements. Well they squeezed my car in today so I could be there for my family throughout the weekend! I can’t tell you how much this means to me and my family as I’m the only one who drives & how good these people are so please support this business because they truly are amazing people! Thank you guys so much!

What an amazing place! Not only did they take me in last minute and finish my repairs that day, they charged me a 1/3 of the price from my original quote from another place!! Awesome staff and great work!! I highly recommend!!
I brought my car here on a whim. I read the reviews and I literally brought my car here based on what other people said. My car was bouncing all over the road and I was kind of desperate for last minute tire shop. I am the kind of person that goes off what people say, and I have to say having picked up my car from them I am very pleased with the work that they did. Not only did. They diagnose the problem very quickly, they were even able to fix my daughter’s tire on her rental car within six hours. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and charged us a very fair price. They got my car already for inspection and left me feeling very confident that all of my issues were resolved. I definitely will be returning to this tire shop in the near future, if I ever need anything else fixed. it is nice to know that you can go to a mom-and-pop automotive shop and still get the high-quality service and care that you need and expect. Thank you so much I am a very satisfied customer. Trust me when I say I highly recommend you giving them your service you will not be disappointed. I myself am a small business owner And I appreciate when people take the time out of their busy schedule to leave someone a review and give kudos when it’s due.

Trust is a huge part of finding a quality mechanic. Been using ocean grove since I moved to somerset 3 years ago and I will continue to trust Mike and his crew with all my vehicles. Keep up the good work everyone!
walked in without an appointment, and with in a couple of minutes my truck was fixed correctly and I was on my way! and it was very reasonably priced!!!!
The worst experience I have ever had. They sell cars which are way over priced but I didn't come here to buy a car, I never would. Went in for an oil change, ended up on the side of the road getting my car towed because they forgot to put the oil back in???? Didn't take any responsibility, they actually said it was fine when I left making it seem like it was my fault. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
I went here a while back and it was the worst experience I have ever had with any mechanic. As a person who prefers to do repairs themselves if manageable, going to a mechanic is never fun. There were 3 issues with my specific vehicle, and they fixed none of them but had no problem giving me a nice bill. One of the issues was with the braking of my vehicle, and they gave me my vehicle back saying it was perfect and I damn near killer myself driving it home with no brakes. They then told me that they worked fine when they tested it but I am confident that a 4 year old could see they made it worse not better. So I then had to pay more money for these professionals to diagnose the problems correctly. Terrible.
My Jeep was sputtering really bad. My regular machanic said throw some good octane gas in it and sent me on my way. Obviously he was to busy to take the job and bs’d me. Wasn’t sure If it was the spark plugs, ignition coil or fuel injectors or filter. Mike took me in right away, found it just needed a tune up and ignition coil, fixed it and I was back on the road in no time. Runs like brand new now. I would highly recommend ocean grove repair to friends and family.
They do great work, I've only had one problem with their service in the past and they fixed it free of charge. They are very honest and I never leave feeling like I was ripped off like I have at other places. Everyone there is super friendly! Great place.
I used to recommend this place to everyone. I definitely won’t be doing that anymore. Completely and utterly unprofessional to say the least, but I’ll be kind and leave it at that.
