Love this place! I Hang out here all the time! The staff is always nice!

They sell “unbecoming” items from the past. Very unnecessary for them to do. It’s not smth cute. Edit: for the owner to respond with something other than “I’m sorry for selling racist caricatures of others in my store” is really wild to me. Embarrassing. I will not suggest anything go here and support a business that accepts hatefulness to people different from them in their place of business.

We got married here over the weekend and it was perfect! -Don and staff were so gracious with communication and answering our questions leading up to the wedding and were very flexible and accommodating. -Cy was the staff member in charge during our event and was enjoyable, excited, communicated excellent, allowed us ample time to set up, and genuinely wanted us to get what we needed to make the day perfect. Our day of coordinator really enjoyed working with him as well. -the venue: a unique setting that was beautiful and gave our guests plenty to see and do during down time. There was a little planning that went into seating and were all the events would happen but it worked perfectly. The dance floor with the layers of chandeliers was incredible. -bartenders worked very well with our coordinator, kept her updated throughout the night for anything that was needed or not. And were very friendly to us and our guests. -West End worked well with our DJ and caterer as well. We love West End and will be back for sure for coffee, shopping, and just to remember our special day!

This is a multi-purpose center. They host events, sell coffee, and sell vintage and antique items, mostly furniture. I was there for an event and tried their black coffee, which was very good. They also sell specialty coffee at reasonable prices. It was fascinating to see their vintage and antique items for sale. It's worth checking out if you are interested in any of these things.

This is by far the coolest place in Des Moines. The antiques are incredible and each floor transports you through different decades. There is a wonderfully priced coffee shop and the staff is unbelievably kind. I will go back every chance that I get.

Great staff and a great place to find a hidden gem. When we are back in town I will be back to look for more. This was my first time and I found an old floor grate and turned it into a garden piece for the wife's birthday.

Such a fun and eclectic store! So many treasures can be found on each floor and the staff... The staff is just phenomenal! We are so happy we stopped in on our trip from Washington State. We will be back on our next visit!

Whoa!!! This place is AMAZING!!! We were walking past this place and almost missed it. This was not a planned stop, but as we were walking past, I noticed some stained glass displayed in the windows that caught my attention. I'm so glad we stopped in. I chatted with a few friendly guys who were enjoying their coffee in the café area, but as we were chatting, my attention was drawn to all the antique and vintage items all around us. Four floors (plus the basement) packed with Americana treasures from times long forgotten. If you have any love for history, this is a must stop. You won't be disappointed.

This was a really fun visit and I am glad we stopped in during our weekend trip to Des Moines. There are multiple floors or every vintage, antique, weird, fun, and everything in between here. There is even a coffee shop (we did not get anything though). We really loved walking through here and seeing some old things that we've never came across at any vintage/antique store. You can tell that the person collecting all of this has put a ton of time and effort into bringing all of it into this building. My only complaint was the pricing on everything. In my opinion, and based on numerous other similar stores we've been to, everything was very marked up. Now, I understand most of it is valid and really is worth that, but some items were kind of outrageous. Overall, West End is a super cool store to visit and worth it even if you just window shop. I am sure we will come back and see what new stuff is here when we visit Des Moines again.

Very much enjoyed exploring at this place. Wish I would have had more time. Lots of really fun things to see. Grab a coffee on the main floor then peruse the more than four floors of a variety of things. You might find yourself a new treasure to take home.

This place was okay. Had large pieces and a few “trinket” sized items. I did enjoy a raspberry white iced latte. They offer a cocktails too.

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Des Moines! Loved all the good stuff here and I bought some fun things. The people are so nice. I love the coffee shop in front where you can get beer, wine, coffee, all so you can sip and stroll and just enjoy browsing. Loved it and I wish we had something like this in my town.

It was a Christmas party. The food that was catered was not very good. The steak wS cold and had no au jus The veggies were second rate and the rolls were cold too. Probably not a place I would go to again. They have some neat antique stuff that you can look at. The barmaid was hot.

Whether you’re looking for something to do on a cold weekend, or a place to host an amazing event, west and salvage will not disappoint. We attended their indulge event last night in Downtown Des Moines, and it was amazing. If you haven’t been there, I highly recommend the trip.

So much to see! You can spend hours here just enjoying all the inventory from both yesteryear and yore. Some items are from long, long ago, but you'll also see things from a bygone era.

We travel from Texas to visit my wife's dad each year in Iowa and always wanted to stop here. Enjoyed watching the show on TV and wanted to see it in person. It's a very unique experience. Not at all what I expected. Floor after floor of amazing things to see. We spent the better part of the day just wandering around in here. The variety of odds and ends is pretty cool. Definitely worth a visit if you are in or around the area. I think my favorite things here were all the stained glass they had. Plus all the unique things they build.
