THEY STOP TAKING SHRED STEEL AT 4 PM
I bring my stuff here over a decade they always take good care of me.
There's some stuff they don't let happen there, and it's totally understandable they have lifes also. I NEVER come last minute demanding to buy my stuff.
Most unreliable scrap yard they might be open 7 days a week but don't except to be able to take scrap in to them when they open because they refused to buy shred steel from me because they simply didn't feel like working.....plus they have the lowest prices in town and the only reason I went there is because they are open 7 days a week.
Well looked up on Google maps and looked up right hours which was open till 5:30 we got there at 5:00 and got turned away because supposedly they stop taking his crap at 4:30 Guy was rude wouldn't listen anything we said and why do you post your open till 5:30 if you don't take stuff after 4:30 That's like majorly stupid so once or bad experience they need to get posted on their sites and everything else what time they take scrap and what time they don't what have saved me a lot of hassle
I loved working with them. Two different times I’ve called them asking about two specific cosmetic parts for my Jeep, and although they didn’t have them on hand, they were able to get them for me within a couple days.I paid up front of them at a fair price, $50 for a Jeep side view mirror and about $100 for a grill piece. But Jeep parts are expensive anywhere and they were perfect matches for my Jeep. They were ready for pick up on the date they said and was quick in and out, put the pieces on myself add have lasted months so far. Save yourself time and hassle and get your parts here.
Sad really the website says they are open and they are supposed to be open 7 days a week so they say. Bs that you ride your bicycle across town believing that they are open and closed when you get there. Not the first time this has happened. What kind of business does that?
Talk about total disappointment.
Went there on Thursday first time of ever going there I had everything weighed before hand and when they weighed ot was 7lbs off then they didn't give me the Right price I brought in 48 lbs of aluminum gutter and a 55 gallon drum full of copper wire well over a hundred lbs!!! They handed me 6 5 dollar bills an 1 10dollar bill! Never will I return to this business! In fact, I will do everything I can to have them shut down so they don't scam other people....
I called about a car I wanted to sell and they were there in 15 mins cash in hand. Great service. Encourage anyone that needs this service to use them.
If I could give ten stars would, give a big shout out to Allen for setting up to get my Granddaughter car towed out, big shout out to the driver also.

JP salvage was great to work with. They were able to meet me within a time that worked with my work schedule. The provide a fair rate that was higher than other scrapping companies for an old beat up truck that no longer runs. Very professional and honest. I left happy, definitely recommend their service!
It's more of a scrap yard with some things for sale every now and then mostly large quantities of romex wire and other scrap items that people turn in large quantities of and is not broke down all the way. Most of the items taken in are just scrap.
Jason was incredibly helpful when selling a clogged catalytic converter off of my work truck! 10/10 service, and will be frequenting with all my scrap.

Don't take any catalytic converters to them they will act like they have to find a number on it while they really just grind it off so I have to sell it to them for whatever low ball price they give u.. also takes forever to get anything weight and to get cash... Do not go here... Try SPI on East 30th instead.
There is a worker here named Jason who is deserving of 5 stars. He's a hard worker and ever since he became the main guy on the grounds, this yard is more efficient and far better organized.
Now the reason for 1 star is the owner. He doesn't care about his customers. I have seen with my own eyes people who steal from this place and process their scrap onsite, yet be allowed return time and time again. However, my boyfriend who was going there everyday (he is a junk scrapper by trade) was asked by a employee to help him cut something from a previous customer's bucket and the owner accused he was processing on site and banned him for life.
Bearing in mind that there are ZERO signs posted stating that there's not to be any processing on site, or any other rules for that matter.
How can everybody be held to the same standards if those standards are not known?
Randomly banning someone for something, yet allowing others to do it is discrimination.
The owner is a minority himself, and I would think he would be cognizant of how hurtful and frustrating discrimination can be. SMH.
I just want to say i love goimg to jp auto they are always very nice people .john has been so wonderful and vert honest on pricing for any of the scrap i bring in. I also think they have the best prices in towm for scrap. Thank you jp auto.
Horrible service and very dirty place. I've taken catalytic converters there to gett offered only 80 because there were not numbers on it. They took in back and put the grinder to it for almost 30 minutes. Just to low ball me a price. I did not sale it to them took it to alter to get a nice $250. They did not need any numbers to pay me a fair price. This place will rip u off any chance they get.
quick tow thanks, needed a document as well and they replied right away. If you are trying to junk your car in des moines, GO LOCAL and go with JP Salvage. I tried junking my car thru peddle and other "junk4car" internet sites but ended up having to call shady people in Florida and they were connecting me with tow services that werent even near des moines . i Decided to search for salvage services in des moines thru google and thank god i found jp. Will be doing business with them again if i ever need to junk a car. THANKS guys
One star is one too many. Owner agrees to a price and then won’t honor it, nit picks tiny things and then will try to double downgrade the price, after already saying it was fine for the price. Do not go to jp salvage if you want a fair price.
I only gave him one star because I couldn't give him 0 Stars. Call at JP's is the worst human being on the face of the Earth. He rips people off and knows it and then blames it on you. It'll make you feel like you would like to strangle the life out of him so if you want to take your scrap into a real scrap yard go to SPI
I wrecked my car while visiting Des Moines, and chose JP Salvage and Core because they were one of the highest rated in the area. Their customer service was excellent. They were flexible with their schedule while I arranged transportation to bring in the car's title. They also gave me a fair price on the wrecked car. I would definitely do business with them again.
