Everyone is making comments about how the "owner smokes in his shop" or how he's "rude". My experience was quite the opposite. I asked him to eye-grade a 1926-S buffalo nickel I got from another store for below market value for what it was graded at... and he was very kind about it, even said that if I asked for any buffalo dates he might have extras to sell, even if they weren't on display. I bought a nice seated liberty dime for a fair price, and he even threw in a silver round tube. Everytime I go, I leave with something. The selection of coins is good, and if you ask for specific items they'll show up. In terms of the "rudeness" which I've seen mentioned in other comments, I haven't experienced it... and I've been quasi-regularly going to this store for over a year. At the end of the day this is a COIN store. You're there to buy coins. Fairly rate the store instead of giving it a sub 3 star review bcs your feelings were mildly hurt, if anything was even done to warrant your feelings getting hurt at all. In terms of the "smoking" comments that's his store? If he wants to smoke in there he has the freedom to do so. That doesn't warrant a sub 3-star review either. If he had bad product, then I would rate the store fairly... but the product is good. If he doesn't have something im looking for he can find it, and the owners aren't as rude as these people have said. Both owners are knowledgeable, and give you advice/help if needed. It's frustrating to read the implicit bias in these other reviews, which has unfairly brought this store below 4 stars. It does not deserve that.

Was offered $450 here for 22k gold coins. Went a few towns over to another coin shop and was paid $1600… think the guy didn’t know I knew the value…

Roger pays, the highest for silver gold platinum in the area, Roger tells you like it is which sometimes people may not like, but he’s honest and trustworthy. I am heading to see him now with a bunch of silver.

I pretty consistently call up Roger at Vernon Coin to see if anything cool came in. He is a nice guy, extremely knowledgeable about everything gold silver and beyond and I always feel good about my purchases there.

The store has good stock of coins, jewelry and related items. But the owner smokes cigarettes in the store and made it impossible for me to remain.Had to wash my clothes and shower when I got home.Isn't a pleasant atmosphere at all.

Left instantly because the business reeked of cigarette smoke! So much so in fact that it was worse than a casino.

Very knowledgeable staff, and fair pricing. My favorite local source for coins and bullion.

I recently brought my 9 year old son into Vernon Coin, since he began collecting coins and researching the values of these coins over the past couple of years. The owner barely acknowledged us, giving his feedback from 4 feet away, across the counter. He didn't take any time to explain any details about the coins my son was so excited to have assessed by an expert. The owner seems to have a very bland personality and lack any customer service skills for someone running a retail specialty shop. My son asked about coins and stamps, and he seemed completely uninterested, basically telling us that the items were literally worth nothing. He didn't even take a moment to pick up the coins or stamps or make eye contact, and have a professional conversation with my son. I would have hoped an expert in this field would want to inspire and educate young people who are passionate about the topic. He couldn't be bothered with us, and was smoking like a chimney on top of that. I read other reviews about where the shop and owner got great feedback from about 2 - 4 years ago, so am surprised by our negative experience. Perhaps Covid has changed his attitude as a business owner, and so we are not getting the same service he used to provide in the past. Maybe he is simply not good with kids. I am unsure, but I was aggravated and felt bad that the man did not even examine anything up close - telling us the fancy box the coin came in was worth more than the coin in the box. It's actually really rude in my opinion - especially when working with kids, to be so gruff about your feedback. I erroneously went into his store expecting a great interaction and learning experience for both of us and that could not have been further from what happened. My husband had taken our son in last year, and he left in tears (my son, not my husband) when the owner crushed his hopes that he indeed did not have as valuable coins as he had researched and thought. Since I was not there that day, I had thought from what my husband explained, that the owner was being honest but gentle with him, which is why I returned this time. After going in myself this time, our experience was really negative. Needless to say, we will not be returning since he has no customer service skills. Another customer in the store actually interrupted our brief talk, correcting the owner about the accurate year pennies were minted with a Philadelphia mint mark - 2017, that is. Anyways, if you have kids you're trying to support with their passion and interest in coins and stamps, this is not the place to visit to encourage the development of that hobby. We will be looking for another Coin store to support our son's hobby and passion. It's too bad this owner doesn't change his approach. He could be inspiring a new generation of people learning about and collecting valuable coins from history. Instead, he's what I would call a Dream Crusher. I hope he reads this and thinks it over to improve his business moving forward. If he did try a new approach, or resume the way he was running his business when he received the excellent reviews a few years ago, maybe we could try again to return to his shop and learn from him.

Roger is extremely knowledgeable about coins and paper money. Not even having to look in a book. Just off the top of his head on difficult questions. His prices are fair and he always has a wide variety.

Roger is a great guy to deal with. Good selection of coins, bullion, paper money, jewelry and other stuff in his store. The graded coins he sells are priced very fair (usually around greysheet) and he grades and prices his raw coins fairly and accurately as well. Have been buying from Roger for close to a decade now and continue to keep doing so!

I’m been buying coins here since I was 15 (20 years) and then, as well now I continue to receive educational and honest service. I have always appreciated the face to face over internet auctions and Vernon Coin is the pinnacle! The inventory is varied and there is always something historically fascinating on display that I walk out with.

I have bought multiple lots of coins from Vernon Coin Center. I have been satisfied with each lot. Coins are from all over the globe, and there have been no shortage of coins older than the 1900s.

This is the best coin shop in the area, in my experience. Lowest prices, great selection and a very knowledgeable owner. Most of the time he beats Internet prices and he always labels if a coin has been cleaned - this is very important. He also offers tons of supplies from different manufacturers. From what I know he mostly sells what is in his display cases, so requesting an item is hit or miss.

He said it wasn't worth his time to search for a 5 dollar coin. All he was doing was watching his help do the work.
