What clients say about Huntington Lake in Azusa (CA)

Doesnt matter if it summer time or winter, this lake is a beautiful lake. Went up a week after it had snowed. Most of the lake was thinly frozen. Beavers were out catching some sunlight. Rancheria Falls trail was still snowed in at this time.

An absolute amazing place to visit in the High Sierra Fairway I've been coming here for many many years and will always continue to explore this wonderful place

Huntington Lake is beautiful, tranquil, and much less crowded than some other nearby lakes. In mid November the road is closed at a certain point, but making it up there and going to the dam you can enjoy absolutely majestic views and a kind of quite like no other. A couple little shops and some rental locations make this a great family destination and get away without having to go far.

This was my first time fishing at Huntington, and I really enjoyed myself. Nowhere near as busy this time of year, so I take advantage of that if I can. Caught my first trout here! ?

Around here its my favorite lake to go kayaking, its not too busy since you have to drive a bit further, and it has several little island you can stop and have a picnic, let your do play, etc…

Had fun for a day trip from shaver. Little windy but beautiful. We were there during the off season so it was empty.

A lot less busy than Shaver. Worth the extra drive. Waterfalls are pretty dry in August but still have some water.

Terrible experience and big disappointment .Campgrounds looked like a lumber yard, didn't provide any shade so all day we have to spend in the sun by dead trees. The maintenance guys were pulling cables doing construction work, cutting old trees right next to us.We stayed for 2 days got tired of all that noise and commotion so we had no other choice but to leave . We drove 800 miles for the round trip just to be in the middle of the construction zone.

Water level is high due to recent snow melt (2019). Fishing is excellent. Scenery is terrific! Priceless. These pics were prior to the 2020 Creek Fire !

A little crowded but typically less crowded than Shaver lake. A stiff breeze blows every day at around 10 AM until evening. It has some modern conveniences and most importantly it has flush toilets! Campgrounds are well kept and one should book a month or so in advance

Been several years since I have been to this beautiful lake. Definitely worth the visit. Pristine, non-polluted water at Huntington Lake and the tributary streams and Creeks have excellent Rainbow and Brook Trout fishing. I remember limiting out (32 Trout)in one hour.

We LOVED camping here! Camped at Rancheria at site #48.. We went near the end of August and it was a little chilly at night but not too bad. It is a windy lake so be sure to pack some warm clothing. We were right on the water and it was a great sized campsite!

Favorite lake to visit for a weekend if you're from the central valley. Lots of sailing and boating opportunities. Cleaner, prettier, and less crowded than Shaver Lake. Worth the extra 45 minutes past Shaver to get there. Campgrounds are federally managed through recreation.gov.

Parking is very limited here and where you used to park free now charges it's more or less a high place for visitors but you have to pay for rest areas and day use area.Fishing was not very good and there wasn't very many people fishing in the rancheria area. The lake was beautiful and it is a nice drive and you can see a lot of the mountains it's beautiful scenery.

Absolutely beautiful! Wonderful to explore! Lakeshore resort has a great restaurant and saloon. The resort is a unique rustic Sierra Nevada gem right on the lake beach. Great food and entertainment! The staff is very friendly and family like!

Smallish sierra lake not far from Fresno. A good amount of lodging options and camp grounds. An abundance of hiking trails for every skill level. A great place to beat the summer heat.

Unfortunately the smoke from the wildfires was a problem. At times the far shore was not visible due to smoke. The campsite was great. The fire ring had been cleaned out and the site raked of tree debris. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were very clean. We stayed in the Catavee campground.

Beautiful place. Forest fires were causing limited visibility, but the lake is clean and refreshing. Daily parking is $10 per spot...so of you bring a boat you'll pay #20 per day to access the lake....which is kind of ridiculous. There are a few quaint cafes, bars, and shops around the lake.....but not many....the road ends at Huntington Lake....so it's a remote area. Shaver Lake is definitely more touristy which is the next lake down the reservoir system.

College Campground was great! Very clean, the sites are the best I’ve seen, quiet and the hosts were awesome. The lake is very accesible and firewood is abundant. Made lots of memories and would definitely return again.

Beautiful lake. Wonderful places to picnic, barbecue, relax and have a great time. The scenery is magnificent. Great place to visit even just for a day trip. I will definitely keep coming back to this terrific lake for years to come.
