Not your average backpacking journey . Can be done as a long day hike but not recommend. Trail is mediocre….the highlight for me was the fall itself and the lake. First 2 miles are incline , Miles 2-4 are descending miles 4-9 are somewhat moderate & steady until the scramble to the top of the fall. If you’re not afraid of some moderate - hard hike I would recommend.
Awesome Wilderness with beautiful scenery! A somewhat hidden wonder of the world perfect for adventuring and backpacking and hiking and fishing and hunting and all of the outdoory things! Highly recommend! Just went to a hike here for first time in almost 10 years and I forgot how amazing it was!
My mother joined the Sierra Club when I was a teenager and my sister and I hiked with a group of retired men up to the most beautiful valley in the Trinity Alps. This was about 1970 and the only other people we saw was a man on horseback with his 2 young sons on ponies. There were herds of deer all around. It was paradise. I have wonderful memories.
Trinity Alps is a big and amazing wilderness area not too far from Weaverville. There are a lot of lakes, miles and miles of hiking trails, rivers, and camping spots. Great place for hiking and backpacking. The most famous hikes get really crowded during the weekends, specially if it is a holiday weekend. There are granite outcrops everywhere, wildflowers, wildlife abundant.
