We had a wonderful time at Kiva Beach. You park at the parking lot and walk to the trail at the curve of the parking lot. The trail forks two ways; to the left is the sunny side of the beach and to the right are the shaded beaches, which have little private coves. We hung out at one of the private coves and it was fantastic there. Highly recommend.
Beautiful area, but as of this past weekend, the water levels are so high there’s very limited to no accessible shoreline. At some point, the water went right up to the edge of the trail. If you’re willing to walk the trail a bit, you can find some small sandy spots. We had young kids with us and the trail is not stroller or wagon friendly and we ended up at a spot that is really far away from restrooms and parking. Still had an amazing time! This area is better suited for hiking and if you’re carrying not a lot of gear.
one of my favorite places ever. gorgeous beach with nice sand (which is rare for a dog beach on tahoe) and dog friendly. bit of a trek getting in but not too bad
Just loved this place, so beautiful and calm. Perfect place to visit if you want less crowd, gives a sense of private beach. Will definitely recommend 10/10. ☀️⛱️?❤️
You can play with dogs. However, there is a lot of gravel, which can hurt dogs' paws. It's a beautiful little beach. Parking and restrooms are 1/2 mile away.
Peaceful. Serene. Beautiful. Wonderful quiet place to sit and enjoy nature. Unfortunately the current fires ? are destroying parts of Lake Tahoe right now. ???
Beautiful spot. Shore line very rocky. There is a wetlands area right behind the beach so if your dog isn't well trained do not take them off their leash. A lot of people and dogs. Views of the mountains are outstanding here. Free parking. Fun and beauty for all
This is where all the locals take their dogs to the beach. It's cool and chill and rife with that game where young people throw frisbees at beer cans that are balanced on a stick. The water is shallow and relatively warm in the summer, so you can walk a long way out.
If you sit on the sand a dog will come and run over you with pointy nails and get sand in your drink. Your dog will get knocked up here, so make sure to spay or neuter first. I deducted a star because the whole place is littered with bags of poop that people leave on the side of the trail even though there is a dumpster in the parking lot.
This place is dog heaven! It has a nice sandy beach so you can swim or relax and watch your dog swim. We came on a Friday at 10am and the parking lot was wide open.
In A Nutshell:
-Kiva Beach is an awesome beach to take your dogs.
-It's a strip of sand that divides Lake Tahoe & a smaller body of very calm & shallow water, which is perfect for you & your dogs to swim in.
-The beach has enough room for to lounge & relax, but since you have dogs running around, it's best to keep an active-restraint w/ your dogs by voice command.
-The scenery is very beautiful, especially in June where there was still snow in the mountains, but the weather was warm.
Overall, if you bring your dogs to South Lake Tahoe, I highly, highly recommend taking them to here to enjoy their vacation. They will never forget the experience!
Beautiful, non-crowded beach. Dog-friendly (but make sure you like dogs if you go there because there's a reasonable chance one might run up to you and say hi)
Lake Tahoe in general is amazing. This is a dog friend beach, a nice walk from the museum exhibit. I was here in the end of May and the coast is almost non existent until the actual beach due to water level. There is a parallel walkable trail that is easy to navigate. Flooded after beach area.
