Különleges hely, csak is azoknak, akik szeretik és bírják az ilyesmit. Mára már teljesen elhagyatott, illetve van még pár lakott ház is a környéken, de elég kevés. A víz elég büdös, főleg nyáron kellemetlen. Viszont a hely elhagyatottsága és kihaltsága a fő vonzereje, érezni még a régi dicsőség szellemét.
Good way to spend an afternoon. Its hot during the summer so bring water. There are a lot of spots where a car can get stuck so take caution. All the art pieces are fairly easily accessible, minus the ones near/in the water. The small town before the beach is full of art as well. Make sure you go through every street to see all the strange art. Stay weird ?
I had been wanting to come here for years, since reading about it in 2011. It was once the poorest community in Southern California, with a fascinating and sordid past. We finally made it out here on the way back from lake Powell in 2018. We've been here several times since and need to go back, check out the artwork (it always changes), and pop into the Ski Inn to see Sonia and Ernie and have delicious burgers and fries. If you go out, please respect the art installations and don't break things, steal things or tag shit, it's just rude....
Poignent decay in harmony with raw creativity, Bombay Beach is hypnotic, and impels the experiencer to look through reality and out into the grand expanse beyond. A perfect destination to pause and contemplate your place in the boundless cosmos.
Not so noted location in California, but worth a visit. It is so special as you won’t get the experience anywhere else. It’s amazing to see a large lake in a desert kind of an area and it’s saline too. It’s clean, different and kind of bare land. Good to go during day time when enough light is there and with a group. The ambience is stunning
Very cool to see but beware of the sand spot / trap that has been set in the drive way around the cross and church , a guy put thick sand and waits for you to get stuck then ask for donations to pull you out with his brand new pro tow rope
An interesting dying city on the edge of the Salton Sea. The lake is drying up fast and there is no good solution to slow the process down.
There is a small store and there was a bar, not sure if the bar is still open. If you drive on the dirt roads by the lake shore you can find many artworks in and near the lake.
These artworks are unique and can make some beautiful photographs at sunset or during good lighting conditions. On the weekends there will be several people in the area just enjoying the views.
