Great place to take your recycling! There's always plenty of space to park and there are carts to help you carry a recycling from the car to the bins. And the gentleman who work there are very kind and helpful.
While the bins are well-labeled and the employees are helpful, this recycling center is extremely inconvenient. It’s nearly impossible to get there during their hours and the gates often close at 3:50-3:55 so it’s not unusual for me to bring all of my recycling with me to work, then drive as quickly as possible to the center only to find that the gates are already closed. It’s a shame that the city of Harrisonburg has replaced their curbside recycling center with an option that is so challenging to use.
Well managed facility to drop off pre-sorted recyclables. Sometimes it can be a bit crowded on Saturday mornings. The person there has always been kind, answering a few questions when I started going there, and even helped unload my car once when it was slow. Certainly didn't expect it just a kind gesture!
The only complaint I have is not enough categories or bin for more PTEs and Electronic waste. Other than than what they have is good - especially for the size of city we are in.
This is my go-to recycling location! I gave up the company that I paid to pick up recycling because they took less and less. I'm so grateful to live in a county that takes makes the effort to recycle more. The staff is always pleasant and if they're around the often offer to help at this clean and well maintained location. Thank you!
Aside from the fact that it’s not really “convenient” to have to lug all of your self-sorted recyclables from across town, the employees aren’t always helpful. I went to the recycling center EIGHT MONTHS PREGNANT and had to bend over, reach, and stretch myself in uncomfortable ways to get all my recyclables sorted. While there are usually at least two employees manning the center, not ONE offered to help.
I’ve been recycling religiously for over 20 years and have a pretty good idea how to separate items. The bins here even have labels on them telling you which bins to deposit your different recyclables. But be prepared to be treated like a clueless 3 year old by the on premise assistant. They like to rudely bark at you about where and if items can be recycled. Voluntarily doing something good for the community should not leave anyone feeling ignorant and offended.

I've been here 4 or 5 times and I've never had any issues. The employees I've interacted with have been pleasant and helpful. The bins are all labeled with what goes in them with some of them having physical examples above them. It's very convenient and easy to drop off my recyclables. I wish the hours were longer but I can make it work.
Glad to have a facility near by to bring my recyclables. They have large containers for you to do the sorting there. I would imagine sorting beforehand would be more convenient for some. They also have an area to bring yard waste and throw away large items.
