The George Washington Ferry Farm is a nice re-creation of the original homestead. The group rebuilding the farm to its original state have done a good job giving visitors a glimpse into the past. Nice tour gives you a back history. Very nice stroll around the grounds gives you a perspective on the General's Life. Take an hour and enjoy.

They've made a beautiful showpiece out of just a plain neglected piece of land. I was very pleased to see all the work and the passion that has gone into replicating the old buildings. Our tour guide was excellent.

If you’re a history nerd - and love America - this is a must stop site to see. You can spend hours walking around the property and gardens.

Interesting place to walk around and see. Doesn't take a lot of time (couple hours). Location where George Washington spent his youth. Buy house tours in advance so you can get a reserved time. If you are just going to walk around the grounds, no need for advanced purchase.

I really enjoyed coming here, it was like going to Mt. Vernon but a lot smaller and easier for small children. We signed up for a program and tour and the guide Jeanne was incredible. She spoke at the right levels for the kids and was so gentle and fun with them. This place is still under Seuss I am hoping to come back when the kitchen is replicated.

Excellent tour of Grorge Washington's boy hood home by docent; very knowledgeable; worth the visit. Now I want to learn more about his mother- Mary Ball Washington; a woman before her time.

I had a great time visiting George Washington’s Ferry Farm! Our instructor was very knowledgeable and made the tour both informative and fun with a touch of humor. The grounds are beautiful—clean, full of old trees, and offer a peaceful walk with stunning views of the river and open land. Highly recommend for a relaxing and educational outing!

Super cool place to walk around if you have some time in Fredricksburg. Great views, beautiful and gigantic trees with so much grass to roam around in. My cousin took me here when I went to visit, we weren’t planning on it but I very much enjoyed our leisurely stroll around this area. It’s also free! So that’s was awesome.

We had a private tour today of Ferry Farm - George Washington's Boyhood home. It was very informative. We enjoyed it.

Always a delight to visit. The staff are well informed and knowledgeable. We particularly enjoy visiting during the Gingerbread House exhibit/contest. Love being able to bring out of town guests here to enjoy George Washington's Ferry Farm.

Went primarily for the GW house tour and the Gingerbread house exhibit. The tour guide was excellent! The house is small but full of treasures, and she was extremely knowledgeable about the Washington family and the grounds. We enjoyed the walk down to the river and viewing the house from the riverbank. The grounds are beautiful even in the winter. We will have to come back to spend some time in the small museum when we can. This little slice of history is a gem!

I've been to Ferry Farm several times with my students. It's always a good experience but today the staff was amazing. We were given plenty of time to see everything, all the programs were very well done. Our students were engaged, laughing, joining in discussions and asking questions. I'll definitely keep coming back each year!

Awesome stop for sure. My recommendation, don't just pay for the grounds ticket, it's not worth it as you miss out on much of the context of the area. I paid for the tour and we discussed basically the entire area, as well as toured the interior of George Washington's boyhood home. There is seating throughout the tour if you get tired, and plenty of opportunity for questions and answers. I quite enjoyed my time at this location. If you would rather not spend any money, simply enjoy the interior of the visitors center where there is plenty of well laid out historical information in a mini museum about the location.

I actually was a little disappointed in the venue. The story of George’s mother and the idea of where he grew up was fascinating; however, the “house” is so new that it really didn’t represent or transport you back to 1750s. The grounds are not that big nor is the “garden”. If you want George Washington living quarters then Mount Vernon would be the choice.

This is a really good up-and-coming museum. This museum depicted George Washington’s boyhood home. It is not the actual home however it is an accurate re-creation of it. They are still doing research and digging up artifacts, so it is history in the making. Our tour guide was very informative and they didn’t amazing job re-creating the house. Also, they have a total of 13 toilets open to the public on property so going to the bathroom here is not an issue. The bathrooms are very clean and they have nice toilets. Also, the admission price is very reasonable.

The original Washington house perished long ago, so this is a recreation. That being said, it is a very good reconstruction, down to square nails and everything. The research that went into the detail is amazing. They really got the best of the best to bring back Washington's boyhood home from the past.

Lovely piece of American history. Stopping in the visitor center, there’s a small museum and you can pay $12 for a short guided tour of the house. While I’m not sure it’s worth it, due to the tour only being around 10-15 min tops and only covering the small replica home; I didn’t mind paying so that the site can stay open and continue its archaeological studies. The sights are quite lovely, and being conveniently located near Historic Fredericksburg, you can head over there for more historical sites or to get a great meal. (Included some photos to show the beautiful scenery on the property, the replica house is awesome too, but I’ll save that for the viewer to discover !)

This is where George Washington grew up from age 6 and left in his early 20's to move to Mount Vernon with his brother. It's called the Ferry Farm by locals because a Ferry crossed nearby. We had a fantastic tour of the home by a very knowledgeable guide. The original foundation is still visible with the stone walls in the cellar. The visitor center has archeological artifacts about the farm.

Great experience. The guide was amazing, she holds a plethora of information on his childhood, his mother. Simply incredible. Will have to go to Mt. Vernon after this!

It's very surreal walking in the footsteps as the small boy, George Washington. Thinking about what life must have been like and how this farm built such a powerful leader and our very first President. The home is an exact replica of the original that burnt down. Built in the old ways as it would have been built way back then. It is still an ever changing and growing monument as more archeological building and details are discovered. Very much worth seeing and hearing about the life and struggles of this great general and statesmen. Truth or legend... As a boy, George Washington chopped down a cherry tree and after doing so exclaimed, "I can not tell a lie, I chopped down the cherry tree. " There are no visible cherry trees on the property. However, archeologist have uncovered thousands of cherry pits on their dig. The thought is that there must have been an orchard with cherry trees on the site at one time.

Fascinating tour of the home that George Washington lived in from the age of 7 to 19! The original basement has been discovered and the house replicated exactly as it was during George Washington's time. It is bigger inside than it appears from the outside. All the furnishings are excellent reproductions. The foundation has also saved 600 acres of the original land. Right on the Rappahannock River, Ferry Farm served as a dock for tobacco, the big cash crop, to be loaded on a boat and taken down to the bay for trading. Excellent tour and a beautiful garden!!

Had about an hour to kill, drove by and saw this National Park of the childhood home of one of our founding fathers, George Washington. Thought it might be neat to check out. They have a visitor center, where it cost $12 to get a ticket to check out the property and have a guided tour of the home. Still not quite spring yet so most of the gardens, flowers and trees will still pretty bare. I would imagine do that in the springtime or summer that the property is quite stunning. I walked around a little bit checked out the house and then walked down to the Rappahannock River. Saw lots wildlife including some deer and woodpeckers. Got back up to the house so I could meet my tour guide. She seemed pretty knowledgeable, we sat outside the house explain the history and how Washington came to be here. Then went inside and pretty much told the story, mostly about his mother. There are lots of little tidbits to learn and she even sent me a couple times with a few questions. Only really disappointing thing he talked about a lot of artifacts that they found here. Everything is a replica basically they found where the original House was and lots of artifacts in the ground. I wish they had an area of where they showed some of the artifacts off. For $12 it wasn't bad she said that they were getting ready to start building her mother buildings where they think a barn and maybe some enslaved quarters were. I'm sure it's well worth it in the spring or summer time to come walk around. If you're a history buff I think it's well worth your time.

Great place to visit. Very close to Washington DC. Plenty of restaurants close by. Free parking. Beautiful garden. The house was rebuild following original drawings along with the furniture. Our tour guide was excellent she provided a lot of details of the life back in time. Highly recommended.

This place was excellent! Lots of information especially if you like archeology and history. This is a replica of the house Washington lived in on the exact location of the house discovered by archeologists in 2008. The contents of the house are just as it was when Washington was there (but you will have to go to find out how they know!) Take the iPad tour and house tour to get the most out of it. Plan on a 2-3 hour visit.

Honestly this historic site was a let down. The staff are knowledgable and friendly but there's literally nothing there of historic value. It has all been rebuilt and manufactured. The home that they are "renovating" is not the home GW grew up in. It's just one they built. There's a lovely reception building with a few artifacts there that are just like what say Martha Washington would have used. A nice place to visit but if your unto authentic history, I would take a pass on this one.
