all the reviews on here saying “good customer service” or “they’re so nice” have to be their friends or family. these are the RUDEST group of girls/women i’ve ever met. they absolutely should not be working in a kids store.

I love shopping here! I have never sold anything here however I shop here for my infant and this location by far has the cheapest prices on infant clothes and toys. They were just having a sale on size newborn - 18 months for $2!!!! I scored a brand new outfit for my baby boy that had a $34 tag for $2. Occasionally they have fill a bag sale for $5 - $10 and they'll let you over fill it. They are practically giving it away. This location has been a blessing to me and by far the best once upon a child! I will forever be a customer.

I’m a new customer at this location but I’ve been very pleased with the store as a whole. Today was my second visit and my first time making a purchase as truthfully I was a little overwhelmed on my first visit. The girls who work there are very friendly and kind, the girl who checked me out today was very personable and friendly and talked lovingly about her baby nephew. She was very sweet. Yes, you have to dig and sort but you can find some really great deals. I even made a shopping buddy while digging thru the Christmas clothes today. I found some boutique brands NWT and they were having a $2 sale which saved me a ton of money. Some of the items were $12 or more originally. I spent $44 and purchased 22 new or like new items from higher end brands. Everything I bought was either like new or new with tags. I’ll definitely be back…looking forward to the new location. Thank you for such a fun store.

So this evening me and my sister went to the hickory location when we walked in we seen there was a deal for sleep wear and body suits, so we proceeded to fill the bag with what we assumed that meant because we asked several times what it was and was met with nothing but attitude. Once we got to the counter the lady at the front took everything off of the hangers and I walked away for just a minute and when I come back they were talking nothing but crap about how I was trying to “scam” them. That nothing that was in that bag was sleepwear or body suits. I would just like to know how you’re supposed to know what’s included in the deal if no one will explain it to you. Makes me wonder with all the attitude and rudeness how this location has any business at all. Very disappointing. Won’t go back.

Took my kids old clothes and made some money. You do have to keep in mind that a lot of people take items here so they don’t buy everything as they don’t need them. To me it’s better than donating it all when I could use the money to replace for bigger sizes

I went and sold a few items of my daughters and then shopped size 10 girls. WOW!! I was amazed at the large selection they had. My daughter was able to get so much stuff and for a great price. Even better deal after they deducted the items I had sold them. Everyone was so friendly.

Was verbally told I would get a call when my things were ready. I just realized I hadn’t gotten a call back. I called and all my things have been “donated” and the associate was anything but helpful.

I don’t normally take the time to give reviews but today I felt the need to. My oldest child is 17 years old and I have been bringing my children’s clothes here for years. The way I felt walking in to this store was horrible. The girls looking through items looked as if they were frustrated that I was bringing my items. They told me to come back in 45 minutes so I came back in an hour. They were not done and one of the girls said to another worker…are you done with number 15?…and she replied by unfortunately not…like it was a burden to look through my stuff. Keep in mind…once upon a child…the reason you are in business is because people bring you their items so you can turn around and make a profit. If it wasn’t for us…you wouldn’t be in business. Try smiling and being polite to people who come to your store. Kindness goes a long way. God bless.

I’ve noticed the last few times that I have sold items , that they have completely low balled me. I sat and watched other people who don’t look like me , sell dirty shoes and less and walk out with much more money than me. Yesterday- I sold a brand new item, that was never used valued at 50.00 -60.00 , 2 pairs of brand new sandals , that were never worn, a like new pair of Nike’s , a brand new dress never worn , another pair of Nikes and 2 other pairs of shoes. I believe they said all together , there were 7 items, and they offered me 21.00. While ,the items were much too small for my kids , and the brand new item ( new and never put together ) were items I no longer needed , I honestly felt discriminated against. I was not trying to get rich , but 21.00 for all of those items , I would have rather donated them. As a disclaimer , I was spring cleaning and there were items that I no longer needed . Furthermore , I’ve been selling items back to Once Upon A Child since 2015, and this store is the only store that has ever done this to me. I will no longer be buying from or selling to this location.

The girls that work there in the evening are rude. Too busy on their phones and gossiping to look through clothes. Also they do low ball but 99% of the items I took in there were on their way to goodwill anyway so I suppose pennies are better than nothing

Not even worth trying to buy or sell here. They extremely low ball your items when selling and then turn around and overprice what they sell. Staff aren’t very welcoming or pleasant to deal with either. This store used to be the best but has gone way downhill.

I went in there this morning with my daughter to get rid of old clothes and toys to make room anything they get for Christmas. I have been there many times so I know what to expect and I never expect to get more than 5.00, and am always surprised if I get more. There's been times I turn around and spend it right back and then some and there's been times I take what they give me and run. This morning and the last few times I have been in there the balding man with the go-t behind the counter has been just the rudest employee in that store. the ladies working there have always been nice, but him if he's up there and you bring your items in to sell he gives you looks like you are disgusting piece of garbage, mumbling under his breath and just having the nastiest tone if he has to interact with you. While my daughter was looking at the books he kept shooting me nasty looks. I had intentions of buying quite a few items but after the way his attitude was towards me and the lady that brought stuff in before me I decided I didn't even want to be the smallest percentage of his paycheck. I turned around and spent my money at goodwill. Do better once upon a child, do better

Spent two days gathering gently used (some brand new still in packages with tags) clothes and toys. Combed through every item and removed anything stained or damaged. Checked their website and Facebook pages for any requirements regarding taking clothes and toys, no requirements. Got there with a very large amount of items, mostly clothes, and was snapped at for not knowing they “only take two totes per household per day” and that I “need to check their Facebook page not their website because they’re individually owned and operated.” The disrespect and rudeness I experienced was absolutely unacceptable. Once I brought everything in I went outside to wait and decided to look at their Facebook page again and it says absolutely nothing about how much you can bring at a time. I was told it would take an hour and a half. It took 2 hours. They went through my stuff and only took about half of what I sent. When going through my items, the things they didn’t take were haphazardly thrown back into my bags, boxes, and totes. Some items were damaged afterward. Once I brought everything home, my husband and I spent two hours folding the clothes AGAIN and tossing out the damaged items. I have shopped there before and knew the prices aren’t great, but they have sales every once in a while that were worth it. Plus, I had a bunch of clothes my son had outgrown taking up too much space in my home. After today, I REFUSE to do business with them ever again. From now on I’ll donate, sell online, or have yard sales.

If I could give it half star I would. They accepted our items to look through they said “give them 30-45mins”. Went back in, they didn’t give the cashier lady the check to check out so they are making us wait again for 30-45 mins for a mistake we didn’t make, and the past few times my wife has came they have been completely rude to her!

I have drove here 3 times from Wilkesboro, was told once they stop accepting items an hour before closing, the next 2 times I was there 2 hours before closing and was told they stopped for the day already. The website says you stop an hour before closing, nothing about this time changing, this is ridiculous we are driving over an hour to get here.

This is the first time I've ever been and they're insanely overpriced. I was shocked seeing 7-10$ on used dirty sandals. They're clothes are walmart priced for used and you get better deals at Goodwill.

I use to love this store but they have lost their minds with prices. Recently I went shopping there and picked up three different shirts with the original tags still on them. The original tags said 3.99 and the once upon a child tag said 5.50. Come on guys do better. I’m not sure if it’s greed or just pure laziness. They also overcharge for stained clothes. Y’all are better off going to Walmart for clothes.

***Edited a year later*** I'm not sure what is happening in this store but the clothes they are selling seem to be more ragged then they used to be. The prices have gone up due to inflation (as expected). The selection of clothing they have to look through seems to be dwindling in size. Like i said, I'm not sure what's been happening. There were clothes just littering the isles that shoppers just seem to drop and non of it gets picked up. I was constantly stepping over and even picked up some clothes. The employees there just don't seem to care.** As a mother of 2 boys, I know the struggle of how hard it is to find a large enough boy section at a department store without having to shop online. This store has a very large boys clothing section and I always find great items at fairly decent prices. I've gotten everything from clothes, hangers, hats, jackets, a bassinet for my little baby (was in pretty good shape), a pack-n-play for now that he's a little older (new in box), a diaper bag, some other little baby items. Books are a good purchase. Beware of shoes. I've only ever bought 3 pairs so far in the over 4 years since i started shopping there and that is because I just happened to find them new. Shoes are better off purchased elsewhere. Overall my family and I enjoy this store and it's always fun going. **My review is solely based on my purchasing experiences. I've never sold any items there. We just donate our no-longer-needed baby clothes and all to the Pregnancy Resource Center.**

This place overcharges you for clothes with stains on them and balls on them. You can find brand new clothes for almost the same price at Gabe’s, Tjmax, Ross, or Burlington. Also, staff is very rude . I found the exact same 2 piece set they had marked $5.50 and they would not give me it for that price because they said the pants and shirt were brought in at separate times. Charged me $8.50 .

I'm guessing the bald dude is the owner. I will never shop here again, he is hateful, angry and unpleasant. The store needs a lot of help. Shirts with holes that are priced at retail price. The store has lost all sense of joy and quality. I'd rather shop at goodwill than here. FYI Jelly beans is the place to be at.

They had a grab bag deal going on. I paid $28 + tax for three bags. I ended up saving close to $400 on clothes & I only had 3 bags. This place always has great deals going on & they have another one going on two weeks from now that I’ll definitely be doing because it’s great quality clothes. I’ve gotten Nike, puma, under armor, Calvin Klein & Ralph Lauren from here. All in good condition too.

Overall a great place to take old kids clothes and toys for quick cash. However I feel the pay out is a little low. I took 6 pairs of name brand shoes almost all of them never been worn still in box, skates and scooters and came out with $14 when 2 of the pairs still in the box were $25 ea. But they do have great deals on clothes, toys and other things. The staff is super friendly, and I'll continue to go back and take my old items. Just wish they payout was better, makes ya feel ripped off just a bit.

We go here and always get really good deals on our little boys cloths. They changed there times they they collect drop offs now. They only do it Monday threw Friday. They stopped doing it on the weekend's. Good name brand cloths at way over half the price. The toys aren't bad either especially not spending a arm and a leg for toys that get threw, chewed on, food all over it, etc. You know how kids love playing with there toys. Really good store if you have kids to shop at. And the fact they pay you for your child's cloths isn't bad either when money's tight. A very parent friendly store.

I live 4 hours from this store, and its always a go to when we visit my family in the mountains. Its always full and with great brands and amazing deals! Favorite Once Upon a Child ever. We got my toddler ALL he needs for winter for $150. Were talking jeans, pants, sweaters, button ups, rain boots, snow boots, shoes, gloves, beanies, oh and like 4 Under Armor sets!! Ah I love it

I adore this store. It is always very disorganized, though. I can understand that people go through everything on a daily basis and that accounts for most of it. But I watched employees walk through to put things away and just drop it on an available space. This meant baby clothes in the size 12 girls clothes. And for clothes and shoes that are used, the prices are a little high. But if you are willing to spend the time and dig, you can always find good deals and bargains.

Great store great prices. To all the people that are bashing this place tells what kind of person you are!! I mean do u really think they mean to take stained items? People make mistakes! Guess all of y’all are just perfect!! Don’t take nasty stained clothes in, so it’s your own fault to!! And bugs? Really? I have seen the dirty looking things people have brought in while I watched them go through my things and the nasty attitudes that customers give those employees there and I give them all a thumbs up for even dealing with these types of customers! I know I couldn’t!!! The bald man has never been anything but helpful as the others and also the little sweet young lady that always wears a smile and always very polite, she treats me like family! So for all of the people hating on them u didn’t have to take their offer and just do not return! No need to bash and lie about things!! LOVE THIS STORE!!!!
