Have a problem with my front right brake catching, they tried to charge $900 to replace brake parts on both sides. Ended up charging me just over $300 for just the right side and refused to put warranty on it because I didn’t pay almost a grand, and to top it off they gave the car back with the issue unfixed.

I’ve been going to Gil’s for more than 30 years. First in their Burnt Hills location and now Halfmoon. They are very thorough and explain everything well. Definitely recommend Gil’s!

On Wednesday afternoon, I attempted to start my car.. nothing happened. I made 2 calls. First one to my brother who brought his charger and charged the battery. The next was to Gil's to get an appointment to get a new battery. They were great, got me in on Thursday morning. My brother followed me to Gil's, just in case. An hour later they called me.. I could pick up my car, she's fixed and ready to go. I was so grateful to these guys. This was the second time I had been to Gil's for service. Being relatively new to the area i know I have found the mechanics I can trust. Just like the mechanics I had in my old home town. Gil's Garage of Halfmoon, is definitely my go to guys, I go to for all car repairs.

I brought my leased year old car there for a state inspection. If I end up buying this car, I will definitely bring it to Gills for service. They were extremely nice and I was out in a half an hour.

The Gill's team was super accommodating with my schedule. I needed to get back to school out in Syracuse by the evening for a class, and the team members were super kind and got my car serviced super quickly! I made it back to Syracuse with plenty of time, thanks to Gills!

Had a last minute request on a Friday and they replaced my car battery in minutes at a very affordable price! Staff were extremely friendly and facility was clean and welcoming. I will be going again for any future repairs I may need! Thanks again to the staff at Gil's Garage for all of your help!

The check engine light on my wife’s van started flashing Friday night. I called Gil’s and they immediately set up an appointment for me on Monday morning. They quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it. They’re friendly and competent. We had a great experience with them.

Gil’s garage offers great customer service and quality work. Many of my friends go here so I decided to give it a shot when my car was feeling weaker. I got a tune up, at a fair price, and my car feels great. Will definitely be coming back for future repairs.

Gil’s Garage has been servicing our cars for years. Their customer service, and car mechanics are excellent!!! They promptly address any of our car concerns with expertise, and make any necessary repairs promptly. We wouldn’t go anywhere else for our car servicing and repair needs!!

Very frustrated with this experience. I brought my truck in for a tailgate repair and clearly noted—both in writing and in person—that the bushings were seized and the gate would not swing open or closed. I dropped the truck off on a Friday and was told I would receive a call to discuss parts and next steps. The shop is closed on weekends, yet my truck sat there all weekend with no call. I still received no call on Monday, so I contacted them for an update and was told they “couldn’t fix it,” but that they “checked everything on the tailgate” and charged me $100 for labor. When I picked up the truck, the tailgate was sitting in the exact same position in the bed as when I dropped it off—clearly untouched. No communication, no repair, and charged $100 for nothing. I will not be returning and would not recommend this shop to anyone

Great experience! Gil’s did a very complicated repair of my Cars gas tank. They took it all apart, replaced the fuel pump and put it back together perfectly sealed. Their never say die attitude saved me $1000 compared to the dealership estimated. On top of all that they are nice people!

Today and for many decades Gil's affirms why I'm a loyal customer. A new employee named Jessica helped me to get my car checked immediately. As a senior, I was very concerned when two alerts where on my dashboard. It turned out to be a minor issue, but the peace of mind made it very valuable! God Bless a business that still operates with Truth, Integrity and Highly Skilled.

Gils always does a quality job. Never have to wait long for an appointment, and ready when promised. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I have used Gils for several different issues throughout the years. I would definitely recommend going there for your car needs.

Friendly , competent , GREAT experience! Got my car in for service within 2 days and I picked it up when it was promised . Completely reasonably priced, below what I expected . If you are getting ripped off and jerked around by other service centers as I was , call Gil’s , they will definitely hook you up.

I walked in because I had a flat tire. I was in and out in an hour. I’m so grateful for such fast service. The receptionist is awesome she informed me as to the progress as time went on. Because of her you have a new customer!

First time at Gil’s. Great experience! Friendly staff on the phone and in person. Helped me pick out my new Continental tires, and they did a fantastic job with the install. Love the new ExtremeContact tires. They are quiet and the performance is excellent!

I wanted a check of my hybrid batteries, but the battery engine battery was checked. Apparently you don’t have the equipment to check hybrid batteries. A general inspection of the vehicle was also done, although I didn’t get much feedback on that. Snow tires were put on without issue. Overall, nothing was done incorrectly and the people were very pleasant, but I’m not sure I got much benefit from the inspection.

We highly recommend Gil's Garage in Halfmoon for all your vehicles repairs. We had our Ford F150 towed to Gil's Garage in Halfmoon because it stald out and nothing would get it to start. Dealings were taken care of by John & Jess whom went above and beyond to look over everything and anything that was wrong and was possibly unsafe. John & Jess were extremely professional, listened to detail and found all that needed to be repaired. John & Jess knew how extremely important this was to us because the vehicle was a vehicle that also drove my 1 year old granddaughter & 3 year old grandson to and from Preschool and for all family needs. We are extremely grateful, thankful and blessed that all was taken care of in a above & beyond timely manner and very reasonable price. Thank you Gils Garage In Halfmoon John & Jess are the best. Gils in Halfmoon is the only shop I use for my 12 yr old Forester. The most recent was in response to my oddest request to date: replace the driver's heated electric seat for which I expected a fairly high price. I was surprised that the cost was about half of the expected amount. Thank you. Gils for your continued service.

Excellent all around. Desk staff very helpful. Explained what I misunderstood about my vehicle problem. Priced competitively and installation looked better than original. The rubber bushings on the steel transmission lines will keep the lines from rusting at the mounting brackets. Very pleased. Thanks to everyone.

Decided to take my vehicle here because the reviews were really good, it's close to home and I am looking for a trustworthy mechanic to regularly service my vehicle. I have no reason to not trust them, but it wasn't a positive experience. I dropped my vehicle off on a Tuesday for several issues. The team at Gil's identified several more and gave me a quote of almost $6k. We decided to hold off on one of the services and the price came down to $4,600 to replace 4 tires, front brakes & rotors, flush the brake system, replace sway bar links, an upper control arm and more. As a non-mechanic, I can't say for sure if the price was appropriate or not. They did do quite a bit of work. I was given an estimate of Thursday for the work to be done. I called on Thursday and was told it would actually be Friday. I called Friday and was told "it'll either be today or Monday. If you don't hear from me today, obviously it will be Monday." On Monday I had to call back for an update and was told it would be Tuesday because the sway bar links they ordered didn't fit. On Tuesday I got the first proactive call to update me that the new links they ordered didn't fit, either. They decided to order entire sway bar kits and overnight them, increasing the price by around $100. On Wednesday I called again to get an update and was told the new parts weren't in yet and it would be Thursday. I understand things happen, including shipping delays. I don't hold that against Gil's. My biggest issue with Gil's is the lack of proactive updates. All but one time I had to call them for updates when it appeared the car wouldn't be ready when I was told it would be. Each time they were already aware the repairs would be delayed, but didn't notify me until I contacted them. I'd have appreciated phone calls when they became aware of the delays rather than having to call them to be updated. I made plans based on their estimates and then didn't get updates until I called them. It would have been nice to have the additional time to change/make new plans for rides to/from work. Finally, when I was able to pick up my car(after closing), the battery was dead. They'd left my headlights on during the day. My friend who dropped me off had to go home, get a jump box and come back to help me get the car running. I've had the vehicle for approximately 12 hours and as far as I can tell, the work was done and done properly. My braking issue is resolved, the ride is smoother and I have new tires. It just took 10 days instead of 3 and with a lack of proactive communication.

They're always super nice and helpful. A little pricy, but you get what you pay for. I once left my wallet in another jacket, and they trusted me go home with my car to get it, come back, and pay. I'll never forget that.

Gil’s has been servicing my Volvo for the last 3 years. The service and customer service has always been good and consistent. Prices are reasonable and you aren’t upsold on things you don’t need. Would highly recommend.
