If you are thinking of taking your vehicle here, I think this will be worth a read. I waited a few months to leave a review to be sure it was accurate.
A few months ago, I was in the area looking to buy a car, specifically a 41-year-old, 1985 C4 Corvette. I called many different auto shops in the area to perform a pre-purchase inspection on the vehicle, as it is an antique, and many problems could be underlying. Every single shop in the area denied me service as they were either unsure, didn't have the time to squeeze me in, or just were flat out unknowledgeable enough to do the job.
This was until I called Boston Auto Works, specifically John. Immediately, John told me he could take the car in and do an inspection confidently. Sure enough, the next morning, I brought the car in, and after throwing it on a lift and taking it for a test drive, he gave me his honest opinion, didn't try to upsell me, and treated me with the utmost respect. On top of all this, the inspection was completely free. He identified that all 4 brakes were seized and would need restoration/replacement. The only problem was that I was not in the area for long, so the job would need to be expedited. He assured me this was not a problem and they would have the brakes of a 41-year-old from fully seized to restored within a day. What other shop can do this?
A day later, I came back to a completed job, a fair price(with a first-time customer discount), a complimentary oil change, and assurance that if the brakes had any problems after I left, they would correct the problem at no charge. Six months later, the car is running great, and the brakes are tighter than any other car I've driven.
I have seen the bad reviews, and on my first-hand account with this shop, some of its techs, and John, the manager, I would confidently recommend anyone here. I was immediately treated with respect and kindness, and I'm positive that if you experienced anything different, that is only because you didn't treat this shop with respect. It goes both ways.
Came to them after the dealer wanted to charge me 3500 dollars to replace my my wheel bearings, tires and a 1000 dollar oil change even though I had an oil change 2 weeks ago. The dealer had already charged me 200 bucks to assess it. They assessed it for free and made multiple accommodations for me in scheduling and transportation. They charged exactly what they quoted me and even made sure I was prepared for potential future repairs. They are just good people and are stuck with me as a customer.
I had a great experience with Boston Auto Group. John was incredibly responsive, especially considering it was the day after Christmas and they were extremely busy. He still took me in right away and addressed a leaking valve cover gasket on my Jeep immediately. They even Uber’d me so I could run errands while they diagnosed the issue, which was above and beyond. Communication was excellent from start to finish. I’ll definitely be coming here for all of my future car needs.
I brought my Jetta in for body work and repairs. The team at Boston Auto works was great!! They were upfront on the costs and timing for the repairs. The car looked great afterwards and they cleaned the car before returning it. Finding a place for car service is stressful and the team here was honest and knowledgeable. If I need work done in the future I will return here because of their great service.
Really lovely place! Came here because someone hit my car and left a note and I wanted to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong. They were so nice and honest about it. Would definitely come here again and recommend to others.
I will say maybe be prepared to wait a bit but it’s a comfortable waiting area with wifi, water bottles, and good candy.
I had an issue with my emissions that was constantly causing my check engine light to go off. Nothing I tried worked to fix the problem so I brought it to their shop. They went through everything that could be causing the problem to make sure they were able to find and fix the issue. Paid a great price to have it fixed and haven’t had any problem with it since. If I ever have any other issues with my car I will definitely be bringing it back.

I recently had my manual transmission car's clutch replaced at this shop, with an initial quote of around $1300 (with generous first time customer discount of 15%) and a promised completion time of one day. So, I got my car sent to them via AAA. However, they later informed me that the shaft seal, flywheel, and transmission mount also needed replacement, bringing the total bill to $1600.
What was surprising was that the same parts were available at half the price at AutoZone. After paying the bill, I noticed the engine light came on during my drive home. The repair shop suggested I come back the next day for a check, which revealed a clutch circuit sensor issue and an oil smell.
They wanted to charge $125 for a diagnostic test, but I requested they check the wiring instead. As expected, it was a wiring issue, likely from the transmission work. However, the manager was uncooperative and didn't address the oil smell.
A week later, I took my car to another shop for a wheel rotation and asked them to investigate the oil smell. They found a transmission leak, attributing it to improper fitting during the clutch replacement. When I contacted the original shop, the manager was again unhelpful, suggesting I drop off the car for a day and pay for another diagnostic. They eventually told me the entire gearbox needed replacement with any written estimate.
Overall, the service was subpar, with significant issues arising shortly after the repair. The lack of transparency and customer service was disappointing.
After I posted the review on Yelp, the owner threatened me with a text on my private number.
This place is seriously the best!
They went out of their way to make sure everything was done perfectly, and the whole experience was just awesome. I came in for regular service but was surprised to find out they also do body and paint customizations… which I had no idea!
The team is super friendly and really knows their stuff. They explained everything clearly and made sure I was comfortable with the process. I’d recommend this shop to anyone looking for great service and people who actually care about your car. I’m definitely coming back!
I live the next street over from them. The recent cold snap, fried some of my computer components on my 2018 honda. I took a chance and brought it over. I was instantly greeted warmly and they made me feel like family. The owner John came over and shook my hand and told me about himself and asked me about how I came to find his business. Sensing my anxiety, quickly calmed my fears and got to work on my vehicle. The quote he gave me was significantly lower than the dealer quoted me. The car is almost fixed. I know I should wait to write this review, but felt it was warranted. He and his business are an asset to the maplewood neighborhood. I can't wait to work with on some fun activities for the city as well. They are a full service shop. The customers in the waiting room were singing his praises. I wouldn't hesitate to bring your vehicle over there. I'll be back on Monday to finish the repairs.
They’ve done a lot of great work for us over the years. Marcus and his team, are super professionals, honest, and they have tons of knowledge on what they are doing…the shop is very organized, the staff is very friendly and the people at the office are nice as well… I’m happy to referral them to all my friends.

At first I thought this was a top notch place and I actually refered a few people. Then I started to realize that they say they use to be used car dealers and that they try to help you and they add extra stuff to your bill luckily I was under lemon law and the dealership fixed it for free but they also gave me my parts back and I brought them to Mercedes they told me there was nothing wrong with them at all. Atleast I have spare parts but don’t be fooled. They just told me they don’t work on older Mercedes but yet I got a pre purchase inspection done by them and it was a Mercedes two separate times the first time they said to return the car the second time they said my worker loves this car and to return it seems like they wanted my car. I ended up getting free parts but now seeing the truth makes me question the eithics there.
My name Saed Sadeddin, this account is under my wives name. This is the first time I used Boston works to work on my car. I made an appointment at 10:00. As soon as I arrived they took my car in. First impression was excellent, I met John he told me my Cadillac converter is shot and it’s going to cost $850 to fix it. From the reviews I read I trusted these guys and I told him to fix it. To my surprise when I went to pick up the car they told it cost $500 to fix my car because it was something else wrong with the car. I really do appreciate their honesty and they have a customer for life. Thank you again for your service.
I just had 4 new tires put on by a friend of my wife & they weren't able to do alignment at their shop but told me to go to Boston Auto Works ( which was about a minute or 2 away) i got there & although it was later in the afternoon, i walked in & asked them if they could do the alignment, they told me to pull in & they would be able to get to it soon.
Really nice people at the shop & my vehicle felt great afterwards & the price was really fair!
2 yrs ago while walking the Mystic Trail in a torrential down pour I sought shelter at Boston Auto Works. I met John & some of his Techs. They understood the situation and allowed me to shelter and dry out until the rain stopped. We developed a rapport and by Monday morning of the following week, I was back there with my 2013 Toyota Highlander for a Air Conditioner checkup. They did the AC check and found no problem sending me on my way with a Clean Bill of Sales at, "NO Charge".
Late May of this year, my water pump erupted and Engine Coolant got into my engine. and Head Gaskets were blown requiring MAJOR REPAIRS. I didn't hesitate to bring my car to Boston Auto Works. I felt secure and comfortable with them that they would take took good care of my car, which they did, and sent me home in an Uber at their expense.
They disassembled my Engine; Sent it out for sanding and repairs etc... They even kept me updated with videos of the work that they were performing along the way, and had me back on the road by Father's Day. What I'm trying to say is this, John et al... at Boston Auto Works are PROFESSIONALS who understands our various situations, Care for our car's as their own and sends me (customers) home happily singing their praises. I feel very comfortable and secure as ever with the repairs Boston Auto Works has done, and feel that I can drive my 2013 Highlander for an additional, 220, 000 miles. "Respect to Boston Auto Works".
