I have this company out at my trailer park and I haven't seen them out there at all we have vehicles parking everywhere. I will not recommend this company. I am going to see if my trailer park can get crow tow at least they will do something
Terrible company. Live at a townhome complex and got woke up 2:45 in the morning because my Yukon hung off the side of the driveway a foot and one of their employees was hooked up to it trying to tow it for that. Unbelievable
They were very helpful and courteous when they towed our truck from an accident. When we went to get the items out of our truck, we had no issues getting to our truck or getting the items from the truck.
Awful, evil company. Never allow them to hook up to your STOLEN vehicle. Someone stole my car a couple of weeks ago. I get a call from the sheriff telling me they've found it and Capital city was on the way to tow it. When I got there they were hooked up and I was told We're trying to help you, give $111 to drop your stolen car. It would cost $160 otherwise. They're no better than the car thieves. Why rob the victim of a crime?
This company engages in predatory practices and provides extremely poor customer service. A visitor parked at my apartment complex, and within just 30 minutes their vehicle was towed.
When I called to inquire, I provided the make, model, and license plate number. The receptionist was consistently rude, interrupting me every time I tried to explain the situation. Instead of assisting, she escalated the conversation by refusing to let me speak, which only made the situation more frustrating. She would not provide her name or connect me with a manager.
It is unacceptable to treat people this way, especially when they are already dealing with the stress of having a vehicle unexpectedly towed. The lack of professionalism and respect shown is baffling.
Towed my vehicle last night from the old Des Moines train station. When I called last night for the reason why. I got after midnight they tow away for the farmer's market. Which that was not properly signed. Most spots in that area have no signs notifying people or the signs are mostly destroyed. I only found 1 that was in tacked far from where I parked at. When picking up my vehicle. I was then told it was towed for unauthorized parking. Very shade and predatory practices. City of Des Moines should be ashamed for having a contract with this company to rip off their citizens.
Tim and his apprentice did a great job of towing me to get my car to where i could get my tire replaced. Professional and courteous thumbs up all around.
I didn't care much for it because my vehicle was impounded through these people and they had no contract between the police department and themselves. I was told they have to have a contract and nobody has provided that to me
Mike helped me answer my fiance out late at night get our vehicle home safely. He was very nice and assured us he would get our vehicle safely home. He also even help push our vehicle in the garage!! Appreciate y'all!
Joke of a tow service , funny how half the reviews or the ones that put the company in good light it doesn’t bring to light the illegal predatory towing aspect that these tow companies are doing,, we need to get this crap under control with regulated fees and legal rights thru legislation., Capitol city ,, crow tow , your days are numbered.
You went to my apartment and put a sticker on my car (which by the way was unbearable hard to take off). I already had called the management office and told them I had an appointment with the treasurer. It is super hard to get appointments right now and wait times are super long - a month out. My husband tried to let your employee know we had the appointment and he still just slapped the sticker on WHILE HE WAS STANDING THERE and said "that's not my problem." After looking at the sticker I realized he wrote "any" for the TO BE TOWED BY section. Are you serious? I don't even get to know how long I have to fix it before you just tow my car? Your employees are incredibly rude and I'm amazed you guys are not in the news for doing this if this is what you do! I will be sure I share that with them though. This is just horrible.
My insurance provider again sent Capital City Towing/Central Iowa Towing for roadside assistance. I had Mike (I hope I got his name right) show up. We had a car that had suspension damage and the wheel and tire did not face forward. Mike took time and got the car loaded without causing any additional damage.
I have had tow operators just hook and pull without a care at all for the car. One ripped the rear bumper molding totally off the car trying to remove it from a ditch, adding damage that wasn't part of the accident. Legally, I'm sure that's the minimum they have to do since before they hook up to the car, they usually have you sign the consent form
It was really great to have a guy put in the time and effort to do the job right. I will be sure to tell anyone that needs a tow to call Capital City. Impressive service 100%!!!
Had a very frustrating incident today. Never used Capital City Towing before. I called in, staff was very pleasant and professional. Phil did a great job on site. Price was under original estimate. I will refer them and use in the future. Thank you for a quick and positive experience.
My wife was parked in an apartment complex lot. She was doing volunteer work for the courts. Her car was towed for not having a parking permit. After explaining the circumstances to the manager,he decided not to charge for the impound. We are so thankful for Capitol City towing and their understanding of the situation! I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Capitol city Towing!
Don’t know how this place has a 4 star rating… was watching my nephew at my brothers apartment, white oak apartments, tonight and after the driver already got 3 or 4 other cars somebody came and notified me he was onto mine. When I told him to please drop my car so I could go back into make sure my SLEEPING nephew wasn’t going to be left alone the response I got was “not my problem pay the drop fee or I take your car” then when my brother got there and politely asked him what was going on so he could help me take care of the drop fee the driver started telling him it was none of his business and then proceeded to swear at my brother threatening to hit him and told him he was going to call the police to report him for drinking and driving… it then took his “dispatch” another 20 min AFTER he took my card information to run my card and drop it….. this place is a joke! All because I didn’t have a little piece of plastic hanging in my window of my car….
Tim was VERY caring, went above and beyond when he did not need to, and made sure my stuff was taken care of and done well. The best service i’ve ever received from a towing company. 10/10 with a great price.

I got a new car and my temp tag fell off. They left a sticker on my car saying to fix it which I really appreciate because I guess they could’ve just taken it. It made me realize that my temp tag even fell so I could correct it , I’ve had terrible luck with crow tow illegally taking my car so the fact that Capital city actually had a valid reason to tow me and still gave me a notice to correct it impresses me. Thanks for being considerate and not money hungry like the other guys.
After 2 days of runaround with AAA after my daughter went into a ditch I called to just pay and have it towed. After just 30 min.The driver said he was on his way. Everyone from the dispatch people to the driver were very friendly and professional. Will definitely call again when I need a tow or help.
Driver responded 30 minutes from disconnecting. Call from dispatch that triple. A would have taken 73 hours to respond to. For help.

I called Capital City because I needed 6 semi's towed from my business. They were able to get all of them off the lot in a little less than 3 hours. Yes that's right, 3 hours!!! Katie from the office called me while this was going on and offered to put tow signs at all 3 of my entrances and had them up that day. They also offered to come by after business hours to make sure that no one is parked on my lot. I can't say enough good things. Seriously. I would recommend them any time for quick and easy service. Thank you capital city!!!!
Worse experience ever. I live in an apartment complex that has a contract with them. Doesn't matter where you put your sticker on the windshield they may or may not tow your car per contract. It's not first time my car been looked at real hard. Can't tow a U Haul taking up serval parking spots, parked side ways in front of an apartment building or other double parked vehicles however per maintenance men that are a 24/7 service and having theirs and the apartments, contract they will tow a car, double parked, in a snow covered parking lot where lines can barley be seen, away from all other parked cars. Fun fact, they pick and choose who they tow because my neighbors have double parked in front of our building and this tow company has not touched their car. . I do think it is because I am white that they only seeked out my van and argued a ridiculous 'traffic violation'. They need a man to intimidate a angry female asking receptionist questions about their job and their contract with the apartments. Good luck. **Watch my review is gonna get a snide response.**
Update: The black SUV notorious for double parking. The silver car is currently double parked but I guarantee you it will not get towed, it will be there tomorrow in the same exact spot. But mine got towed in a snowy parking lot. Smh.
My driver today was amazing! He was able to get my wife's car out of our former garage and into our new (much smaller) garage with no issue whatsoever! He was so nice and polite. He even pumped up the back tire for me!
Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. First lady I spoke with was super nice, but then got on the phone with someone named Katherine who was so incredibly rude before I even spoke. Don’t give this place business and be warned that they don’t communicate with you about all these extra fees even when you call. Coming from a business owner - this is bad business. I never leave bad reviews anywhere as I understand people have rough days and businesses can have off days that don’t speak for the establishment as whole - but this one was necessary. Also completely unable to work with people who cannot afford $1000 and will say lowkey racist things. Apparently if you don’t speak English so you have your girlfriend call for you, you will be charged more. Not joking, this is what I was told. After I told her how rude she was being and I finally got an attitude back with her she said she was transferring my call, which ended with me talking to the manager who may be one of the rudest people I have ever spoken to, before I even got the chance to speak. The first two girls mentioned that payment plans were possible, but then the manager said he refused to do that. If you want to be spoken down on for not being able to afford your vehicle being towed out from your own apartment, this is the place. The only nice person I spoke with during this was the very first customer service girl. Avoid this establishment at all costs, unless you want to be ridiculed and spoken so rudely to for simply asking for a payment plan. Economy is rough these days, and businesses that conduct themselves like this should really learn some compassion. And before they comment that this is about the Illinois location like they did for the other bad reviews, this was Des Moines.
Excellent service.. my car broke down on the way home and I was back at my place within 30. I requested roadside service through my insurance and Tim came very quickly and surprised me actually lol. Hooked up my car and dropped it in my parking spot at my parking garage. Exceptional service all around.. thanks! Hopefully I won't have to get towed again, but if I do, it'll be through Captitol City
Had to have my brand new Range Rover towed because it wouldn’t come out of park and these guys did a great job. Got it towed without any damage even though it couldn’t be put into neutral and dropped it exactly where we asked them to. Highly recommend.
In the time of need I was helped swiftly!!! Dispatch was nice. Guy with the piercing in his lip was extremely nice!!! I paid with cash which was cheaper. I didn’t need all my brothers and hubby to push the car up into the garage, and backed into our spot. He was quick and let me stay in the car I came in while he endured the treacherous cold. I’m pleased and happy with the service I was provided!!!!!
My family members had my car towed on September 5th around 1 AM for $107 dollars with no receipt from 31st to 63rd. Their driver Randy towed my car and dropped it and slid it onto my neighbors vehicle. The owner Adam was cooperating with us at first, but now he is ignoring me and denying this ever happened. I have pictures, emails from him stating he was going to check his cameras, emails of him stating he was going to ask why his driver didn't issue a receipt. I did get in touch with him over the phone ONCE after all this email exchange, and he said he would have me pick between 3 different shops of my choice to get my vehicle fixed, and to resend my photos of my car because he "lost the first set". Now he is not answering the phone, every time I call he's either "busy" or "on a call". He will not respond to emails anymore either. Now lying to insurance that this even happened when my neighbor is involved, my car is involved, and also my family is a witness to this as well. How unprofessional is this? To try and lie when your driver RANDY is responsible for not only damaging my vehicle but my neighbors as well. You're horrible people and a horrible company.
