Lord what an experience..... Wife's car was towed due to a miscommunication between the parking lot owner and her as she paid monthly and they were ticketing her for daily parking on accident as they had missed the parking slip in her window. Not a huge deal as we got all the tickets dismissed within an hour of finding out the car had been towed. We called Crow Tow over the phone and specifically asked if we could come and just get a car seat our of her car while we waited for the parking lot owner to get us the release slip and the gentleman over the phone was super cool and said sure! We showed up and let them know we JUST got off the phone with a gentleman and he said we could come get the seat and an older lady with blonde hair started yelling and throwing her hands in the air stating they NEVER do something like that but I guess she will the one time but its ridiculous for us to even ask. I tried to explain the situation and even showed them an email we had from the lot owner (to whom they knew) stating the towing was a mistake and got told "I don't care deal come back with a signed tow release". I totally get it that its legally required and simply asked if they would stay open until 4:02 as that was the expected return time from their office as it was just a few blocks away. She of course said no to come and get it tomorrow she would not be staying open late to help anybody out. (Self proclaimed top community tow company right there). We showed up the next morning with the tow release signed that we did not have any tickets and the guy working the front desk this morning was fast and professional and gave me receipts of everything. Really great guy. An older gentleman in a blue shirt walked me to the car and I was asking if they used a flat bed, if they used blocks or shims for lowered cars to ensure they don't scrape as commonly practiced and he said nope. I informed him I would be taking pictures as they do not take pictures when the cars are dropped off only prior to towing and as I was taking pictures he got really aggressive and making smart remarks about "are you gonna take pictures of the rust on the hood in case that happened too" just because I was pointing out that there was sever damage to the underside of the car. Heat shield was damaged, front lip was scratched up and the exhaust system (which is only a few inches off the ground) was bent and damaged. All documented on Tuesday (car was towed on Wednesday) as we had just finished working on it and take comprehensive pictures as its a build car. The SECOND I pointed out damage the guy started yelling if we even thought about reporting it to insurance he would be arresting us for insurance fraud? I was unaware he was a cop but I find it even weirder I did not even bring insurance up because this was obviously damages caused by a neglectful tow as they did not use the correct equipment for towing. i.e. small claims. Once I got into the car after taking pictures the guy then starts banging on the hood and front windshield of the car yelling more that we better not report this to insurance. I see the owner comments on every single negative review so I can't wait to see this one and how s/he will try and spin this into our fault. I didn't even mind paying the $208 towing fee even though it was a simple mistake on the lots part but how they treated my wife and myself from start to finish was just shocking. I really hope businesses who use them see this and understand just how terribly they treat people on a daily basis. For anybody looking for more info on how they act please look up what they did to Chris Costa whom even uses them himself and was treated like absolute garbage by them. Update: So glad they responded. Please note how he negated to acknowledge that I physically showed them a receipt and an email from that lot owner apologizing and had all of the "tickets" he's referring to dropped. He's also admitting they do not take photos after drop off and did not comment on his employee smacking and banging on the car. Love the accountability.

Very prompt response and extremely helpful, polite, efficient, and professional. Made such a meaningful difference in helping me deal with a very inconvenient and stressful situation after getting two flat tires due to debris on the interstate. Thank you to Leo and his partner (I’m so sorry I can’t remember your name, but you have a super sharp stylish beard) Thanks again!

I have never experienced such rude customer service. My car was stolen and that’s heartbreaking enough as it is and it ended up in Proto. I tried calling to speak to the supervisor and I am not the registered owner of the car and he was very adamant on me coming to see the car which I understand. Then the conversation started to escalate on his end when I asked him how the process for fingerprinting work and he told me they’re not gonna fingerprint your car. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he got really snippy with me and said he was a supervisor. Whoever the supervisor is, please do a better job at ensuring that your customers feel that they are cared about because we already have enough going on in life As it is. I feel horrible to anyone whose car is in Coto. Based on the conversation I had with the supervisor I don’t trust that they would take good care of your car.

My 53' trailer got stuck in a HUMONGOUS pothole (thank you, city of Des Moines, for not filling in the hole or even marking how bad it was. I found an old barrier and put it in the hole for you. You're welcome.) Joe came out and hooked up to my semi. He weighed out the various options and found the best way to handle the situation. No damage to my vehicle, and I was out an hour after I made my phone call. Thanks!

I had an incredibly positive experience with Cameron from Crow Tow and felt compelled to share it. Cameron went above and beyond to ensure not only that a challenging situation was resolved, but also that I was safe and informed throughout the entire process. That level of care and professionalism is rare, and it made a huge difference in a stressful moment. He clearly knows his job well, and his ability to think on his feet made a tough situation look easy. Huge thanks to Cameron and the Crow Tow team for outstanding service. If you ever need a tow, I highly recommend asking for him!

One of your supervisors was a tremendous help to us today. My son was in a bad accident and totaled his car. Jesus was looking out for him. Thankfully he is okay. I nor my wife have ever been in vehicular accidents so this is very new to us. Your supervisor, Garrett, explained how to handle our insurance moving forward and gave us very good insight. My son was crying when he saw his car today. Your supervisor comforted him and got us both to laugh by the time we were leaving. He displayed deep care and compassion, like we were talking to a family member. We want to extend the largest gratitude to him. God bless this gentleman!

I have lived 4001 EP True, West Des Moines. You have towed my car while I have parking permit. You also have gotten back my car into old place. I don't know way to tow my car, but with the wheel tracks on the ground, that is big problem. I think the car transmission was wrong. My car is Lexus RX 450h AWD. I need to slove this problem.

A white GMC rear-ended my dump trailer on 235 East University exit. They got me off the highway safely and towed my trailer to the tow yard safely. Joe was the driver. Trailer was bigger than his flatbed trailer so it was definitely a challenge and Joe did a good job. A little pricey but I ain't paying for it the person that hit me insurance is haha thanks crow Tow

Glad to see the apt complex went with another tow company, enjoy the lost business. Another business didn't even go with your company. And, I was the elected home coming prince in 2010, what's your point There's quantity and quality for numerical values. I used to work for a Iowa Grocery store chain, went bankrupt because it couldn't keep up with competition. They don't mean much to most people. Once they get into a contract with you they'll find the truth. I only was a patron at your business because you didn't call the police. Did you not pay attention in court that I wasn't cited by police as per the sign, have became good relations with that landlord in adherence to Iowa laws, judicial branch is more resourceful than you will ever be, but you rely on them. Property owners or renters (including vehicle owners) have rights and Iowa Law -Pro Se litigant in court since 2022 as a hobby

My car was towed because of a miscommunication with my air bnb. Totally not crow tow fault- they did their job. The wrong parking pass was provided to me by air bnb host. I came in with payment for my car and requested photos to prove I actually had a pass (although the wrong one) to take it up with my air bnb host. The owner (I think?) started talking over the front desk lady at me stating “I simply didn’t have a pass and I know it… this is my problem with my bnb.” After listening to him scold me, he allowed me to further explain … I simply asking to take a photo because yes… I will take this up with my bnb host. After my explanation and seeing there was actually a WRONG PASS… he was silent and let the front desk lady finish assisting me. She gave me the photo I needed. I told the gentleman sometimes mistakes do happen, and I’m just trying to do the right thing. I hope he feels better about himself and has a better day than I’m having. A little kindness goes a long way.

A while ago I was at my dad's and I was parked in the grass because my sister was parked in the other parking spot. And it was there for a couple hours and when we got back from the store me and my sisters car were both gone. So we call up and asked why they took both, they said that the car in the grass was not allowed to me in on the grass. I told them I understand stand why they took my car I asked why they took my sisters car, and they said because we had to move it to get the car on the grass. And the mf had a smug look on his face. They are just leaches.

Jeff was absolutely a life saver! I was stuck on the side of the road 700 miles from home solo as a 17 year old. My fuel pump had went out on my truck and I really needed to get to a mechanic. My phone was about to die and I wouldn’t have been able to call an Uber in time. Without him I would’ve been stuck 15 miles or more from my hotel at the mechanics with a dead phone and it would’ve been dark. I can’t thank him enough. He did everything to make sure I had what I needed.

I had to pay $260 before I could even see my car after an accident. Gave them the money just to look at it and retrieve my stuff (totaled). Such a scam and the people are rude... except Moe. He was great.

Crow tow ended up with my motorcycle that was stolen several years back. They were contacted by the police when it was found abandoned in a storage unit. The Incredibly rude woman on the phone was adamant that i not be allowed to see my bike until i came in and paid their storage fees, even though it had been entirely released by law enforcement. I was able to get images from bodycam footage that showed my bike was completely stripped down for parts. It's obvious that this was an attempt to rob me of my money before pawning off that pile of scrap metal onto me. Everyone i talk to says that Crow Tow is a business of crooks, and this experience reinforced that sentiment tenfold. Edit to reply to owner: Your thieving company clearly didn't want me to see the atrocious state of what was left of my bike, because you knew that you wouldnt be paid for it. Its a frame with parts of a motor and tires. "Paid for what you do" you held onto literal garbage and tried to trick money out of someone by trying your hardest to hide the fact that you were holding garbage. Try to spin it however you want, you're a bunch of underhanded, dishonest crooks.

Joe got me out of a bind big time. Had an 80ft manlift buried deep in silt and Joe pulled me out no issue! Had a good attitude and everything. Helped us through the whole process. A great all around dude.

Beware of them, only thing they care about is making money and not caring about how they treat people’s vehicles. Parked my car to drop friends off who lives at a apartment building, not even 10 minutes to walk there and back, offered to show the dash cam footage (non stop recording) but they refused to see the footage. I’m not arguing the reason, but their reckless behavior is insane. Thanks for the damage to the tires that are brand new, Randy (manager?) and David (driver) denied everything but couldn’t accept responsibility for leaving damage to my vehicles. Refused to see damage photos. Couldn’t talk about it and was argumentative due to being “busy”. You can find better customer service at a McDonald’s. Better Business Bureau said they would look into them. Response to Business response- I had called once the day of and once today, so first exaggerated false statement, second I had told you my prior relationship as a reference of who you are talking to, and no I was not expecting nor did I mention any refund while speaking to you (Randy) on the phone today, so second false statement. My phone call was to inform you of the damages I had found on my vehicle post “attempted tow”. The vehicle was half on the road and half on the ramp( further showing the short time between me leaving the car and your driver conveniently showing up) I obviously have nothing to hide and I had taken responsibility for my actions (unlike some). Your response surely has proven my point and hopefully a warning to all future potential victims. I will add this to the complaint. My offer to show damage photos and dash cam footage is still on the table for you .

After staying at a friends apartment in desmoines over Memorial Day weekend. Spending some last times with him before I get deployed to Iraq in a few days. Me and my wife’s car got towed out of there apartment complex parking lot, after we called the apartment multiple times and emailed them to let them know we where staying there. CrowTow still towed our car. We explained our situation to them and they had no understanding. Very rude and didn’t seem to care or look into the situation at all. I asked to talk to the boss thinking that he would be more understanding. But unfortunately he was out of the office due to it being Memorial Day…..

This company should be banned! They stole my car from an east village parking lot. After figuring out where my car was, these creeps charged me $200 to give it back. They had it in their lot for maybe 30 minutes. I only had $150 in cash on me and had to use a debit card for the rest of the charge. They then charged me 4% because I had to use the card. I would not be writing this if this wasn’t the 2nd time I had to deal with this money grubbing company. My company was doing a job in East Des Moines. My crews were taking a lunch break. When they came back to the job, our van which was clearly wrapped with our logo was gone. Along with the van, much of our equipment was in the van. The crew naturally assumed the truck had been stolen. A couple of days later we learned our friends at Crow Tow had our truck. I don’t remember how much they fleeced us for on that occasion. Why our city allows this company to operate is beyond me. What a terrible way to make a living!

Yesterday was one of the most frustrating and exhausting days I’ve had in a long time. While I have no issue with the company itself, the sequence of events was completely unacceptable. As I was driving from Minnesota toward Kansas City, I stopped at the Holiday Inn in Ankeny after confirming with the front desk that I could park my truck in an available spot. They assured me it was fine—only for my truck to be towed due to some absurd property dispute between the hotel and another company. This was entirely the fault of the front desk agent’s misinformation.Retrieving the truck was an ordeal in itself. Paying in cash instead of using the company card during a business trip was an unnecessary inconvenience. And beyond that, I had the distinct displeasure of dealing with one of the most ignorant and disgraceful individuals I’ve ever encountered—the towing company employee. It was clear why he wears a chest camera 24/7: his attitude and behavior must regularly invite well-earned hostility. Despite his complete lack of professionalism and decency, his neighbor—the older man and his son—were genuinely kind and helped me reinstall the driveshaft that had been unnecessarily removed. They demonstrated the basic courtesy and respect that he utterly lacked. To the individual responsible for making an already difficult day worse, remember this: karma does not forget, and it will come for you. You deserve every ounce of frustration, misfortune, and misery that comes your way. Improve yourself—or brace for what’s coming. If i just could give you less than one start because one start even a-lot for you. I know you will read this . You are pathetic . Replying to your response: Let’s get one thing straight—do NOT call me "Mr." That alone proves your insincerity and double standards. If you had actually read my review properly, you would understand that my issue is not with the company but with **your complete lack of professionalism and attitude**. Your claim that I parked in a fire zone or blocked the street is **an outright lie**. I parked **based on the front desk’s instructions**, yet you twisted the facts for your convenience. This isn’t just poor communication—it’s blatant dishonesty. Your reputation speaks for itself. The overwhelming number of bad reviews you’ve accumulated already tells the truth about how you operate. If you continue treating people like this, expect more of the same feedback because your behavior **is the problem**. I won’t be back, and I have no reason to ever deal with you again. What happens next is up to you—either acknowledge how you handle situations and improve, or continue on the same path and let your reputation sink further. I wish no luck to you .

Never thought I’d be leaving a 5 star review for a towing company after having my car towed overnight, but here we are. We showed up 30 minutes before they opened and the gal at the front desk was very helpful and let us retrieve my Jeep before they opened. Upon leaving, I had multiple service lights pop up. We drove back and talked to Randy, the owner, and he was more than willing to pay for the damages done to my car. He called a mechanic friend who got us in right away that morning, and we were on the road headed back home to minnesota within a few hours. Everyone at the towing company was very friendly and even sympathetic towards our situation.

Very polite, but over inflated tow cost, Had an emergency park for 5 minutes and had to be across town to help my daughter and was being kind to resident not parking in their way as they moved n got towed. Both the management of the property I parked at and this company are vultures. Hence the name “crow” tow. Way to pray on good people. Not a good business model.

Your company sucks but Cuba is the man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for being a real one! Edit* I changed to one star review! Thanks for responding!!! I should've taken the time out of my day to rate you 1 star when my car was at impound for a little over 3 days in the middle of a blizzard last year and my car was already up for auction. The employee commented that my car must've been there for over two weeks and I said nope... This is the 4th day and they were like welp you're lucky it didn't get bought today! I only wasted any part of my day yesterday for your seemingly only good employee. I hope he gets paid a million dollars. I work downtown, I paid til 6, got busy at work & didn't re-up my parking and was on the tow truck at 6:40. idc that I got a ticket for not being up to date on parking! BUT If it were up to you guys and not DMPD I would NOT have been able to pay the tickets and get my car "for free" lol. Even DMPD officers don't care about you getting your "share" of profit as long as I pay my parking tickets. I hope you hold on to that "neighborhood favorite" bull, bc that's like having to pick between explosive diarrhea and 5 day constipation!!!!!!!!!! I hope your CEO can't sleep and he screams about it nightly!

So glad more places are switching to Capitol City Towing—they have much nicer staff all around! My friend just got towed from Molly’s Bakery, and the experience with Crow Tow was a complete disaster. The guy we spoke to was not only incredibly rude but also clueless. He told us it would be $200 to get the car back. When we arrived, the front desk person suddenly claimed it was $260—just minutes after we were told otherwise. According to “Ms. Stupid Face” at the desk, the extra $60 was for an “overnight stay,” even though the car had literally just been towed minutes ago. Pure scam tactics. Hopefully, more businesses stop working with Crow Tow and switch to companies that don’t lie through their teeth. At least Capitol City Towing treats people with decency. Getting towed is already stressful—there’s no need to be a total jerk about it specially when the other person is being polite. Maybe try acting like you were raised by humans instead of heartless werewolves.

Cuba is the man. He’s him for real. Super fast towing, loading and unloading. Gave us some great advice which is helpful considering my friend and I are just 2 clueless women. He made the situation wayyyy more upbeat. Thank you! Thank you so much Cuba!

After calling several different towing companies, I got to say this one seems to be the more reliable one, every time. I’m not much on submitting reviews…only reading them, but this driver made my situation bearable after a long bad day. He introduced himself as “Cuba” and was super friendly & helpful. He was very considerate AND helped beyond his job…So when all said & done, I had to give 5 stars! Thanks for turning my day around!

Got to work at 8:30am in this housing development and saw 2 cars parked in front of the mail box parking spaces so I parked there as well. I didn't see the sign because a car was parked in the spot where the no parking sign is in front of and i parked next to that one. Came out on break and saw the sign so I moved over to the legal parking space in the pictures. Around 12:45 I'm told my car is being towed. They drug my car from the legal parking space and ruined my tread on my new tires. Driver was just doing his job and these crooks told him to charge me 260 to drop it still even though they towed me from a legal parking space. There's a reason their rating is garbage like their company. *Reply to "owner"... you still towed me from a legal spot. When your truck got there, I was not parked in the no parking zone so he shouldn't have drug my car out and damaged my tires. Duh, nobody likes getting towed. Stop spewing the same rhetoric on every post. You have zero defense for this. Your driver agreed its not right but your office is the one who still charged me. Doesn't matter who called. Is it normal practice to damage a vehicles tires and possibly transmission prawl from dragging it out of a legal spot? I know your company lied on the phone and said it wasn't dragged which is laughable.

Horrible management! Towed 2 of our cars from an apartment complex that my colleagues and I were visiting. All of us are from out of state and there was 0 posted signage on the lot anywhere close to where we parked that says towing enforced. Entered into the lot where no mention of permit required or towing enforced lot was posted anywhere. We parked in a spot near the entrance close to the dumpster. They towed without being called and for some reason only took cash. Horrible experience especially when the people at the location start yelling for no reason and assume there were signs without even looking at all the evidence in the lot. Horrible people and the local police should rlly get an audit done and stop working with these predators. Response to the completely false reply by the owner: We came in fully calm trying to explain the situation to the lady at the desk. Then the blonde lady in the back started arguing and yelling without listening to anything arguing without knowing anything. Next we were visiting our colleagues for dinner at an airbnb they were staying at since they didn't have a rental vehicle in town. So we had 2 cars in a lot that had 0 signs. If the owner were to watch the full video u would see we documented the entrance and spot we parked as well as exactly whr the posted signage for towing was. Nowhere in all of that is there a sign on permit requirement. This is all good though cuz we got our vehicles back and we will soon see them in court!
