To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally report an inappropriate and predatory tow attempt involving your contracted tow operator at your apartment property.
I am a verified Airbnb guest at this location. Upon arrival, I parked and immediately went upstairs to retrieve the required parking pass from the unit. I was inside the building for approximately 10 minutes. During that time, a tow truck driver was already sitting in the parking lot and observed me exit my vehicle and enter the building.
When I returned, the driver was actively attempting to tow my car. No resident, property management, or authorized party had called in a tow request. The driver had been waiting and monitoring vehicles, which strongly suggests predatory towing behavior rather than enforcement of parking policy.
When I explained that I had just gone upstairs to retrieve the parking pass, the driver responded rudely and attempted to shift blame rather than acknowledge the circumstances. This interaction was unprofessional and unnecessary.
I want to be clear:
• I was an authorized guest
• I was in the process of complying with parking requirements
• No tow was requested
• The vehicle should never have been targeted
This behavior reflects poorly on the property and any towing company associated with it. Had my vehicle been removed, I would have pursued formal complaints and legal remedies without hesitation.
I expect this incident to be documented internally and for corrective action to be taken to prevent guests from being targeted in this manner going forward.
RESPONSE : A simple apology is in order. Your driver attempted to tow my vehicle while I was lawfully parked as an Airbnb guest of a resident. I was instructed by the host to retrieve the required parking pass from the apartment, and I was inside the building for no more than 10 minutes.
I did not violate any posted laws or obstruct resident parking. I was actively complying with the property’s parking requirements. Your driver did not allow a reasonable amount of time for compliance before initiating a tow attempt.
This situation appears unnecessarily predatory and poorly handled. I expect acknowledgment of the mistake and assurance that your drivers will allow reasonable time for guests to obtain required permits before attempting to tow vehicles.Feb 16, 2026 -
Sarah stayed late and allowed me to get my car out when times were urgent. Great service, great company.

They are the worst, I've always defended them because I thought they were just doing their job, unfortunately I was wrong.
I went to visit my daughter at her apartment complex and I parked in what I thought was visiting parking, but I did not park at a sign just near it, mind you the lot was bare.
I came back out after 20 minutes and saw them driving out of the parking lot with my car, I had my 2 small dogs and I ran up and yelled to the man that that's my car, he stopped and yelled back and then drove away, I called very frantic and upset, I was told I didn't have a permit to park there and needed to bring in over $200 the next day to get my car back, I told them I can't afford that, then the guy on the phone was very rude and hung up on me.
20 minutes, he had to of been watching me park to be able to already be driving away with my car. Predator towing at its finest.
I'm definitely going to talk to someone about this, I'll pay the $200 but I refuse to just drop it, there should be consequences for this, they shouldn't be able to get away with this.
I can't believe people were right all along, I thought they were just exaggerating.
Just a horrible towing company the worst kind of people taking advantage of their powerFeb 12, 2026 -
I wish I could leave 0 stars. My apartment complex just put up visitors parking but people still park in the visitor spots for days on end. My nurse comes twice a week and shes not at my apartment for any longer than 45 minutes. Today her car got towed because every visitor spots was taken. She wasnt even here for long. I think its BS how they pick and choose whos lives to ruin. I havent heard anything good come from this company. Garbage company.

I gave a drunk friend a ride home to The Pointe on Fluer apartment complex. Their parking lot is run by Crow Tow. I came inside to hangout for a short time. I was only there from 11:50pm-2:20am. The side of the building I parked on had no signs of any kind warning that I would get towed within minutes without a permit sticker. There was only one small sign as you enter the parking lot that said permit parking only. Hardly noticeable at night. There were more than 10 unoccupied spaces next to where I parked. The 4 marked visitor parking spots were around the corner of the building at the opposite end of the building from where my friend enters to get into his apartment. The visitor spots all had cars parked in them at the time. Crow Tow took my vehicle within 40 minutes of me being there. Solely because they are a shady company with terrible ethics. No one called in reporting my vehicle. I wasn't taking up someone's spot nor was a resident with a permit not able to park near the building because like I said there were more than 10 open spots on just that one side of the building. When I went to leave and realized my car was no longer there. My friend said to call Crow Tow. When I did, I asked why my vehicle was towed and they said I didn't have a permit and that signs were clearly posted for visitor parking. That is not true and an absolute joke. They had not even had my vehicle for 2 hours and said it would be $200 and even though they are a 24/7 company I couldn't get my vehicle until 8am. What an absolute scam! Crow Tow is a shady business that no one should use and everyone should avoid. It's no wonder they lost their city contract.

My car got towed on the 15th, yesterday I called them to verify what all I needed to go grab my belongings since my insurance said that it was a total loss. When they delivered my vehicle to copart and I actually got the chance to grab my things all of my charging cables were gone, phone stands were missing all that was in the car was reciepts that I kept for gas. Not upset that they're no longer there its just, who steals those things from a dudes totaled car??

(Added information below to respond to vendor) Extremely rude. They lied to me about the storage fees. Gentleman told me it was 23 dollars a day when it's actually 60. They are misleading at best. They have a sweet deal with the sherrif's office who called them after I rolled my truck in the snow. Otherwise, I would have used a different company. Choose otherwise if you can.
Added after vendor response: Wow. You can see their misleading nature in their response to me. Glad it's in writing. I never once asked for anything free. I was told it was 23 dollars a day. That turned out to be untrue- a lie. Also, I never needed an extra day to "figure things out". This is just a put down from the vendor and another misleading remark. I needed another day in storage because the salvage yard Crow Tow sent me to wouldn't do an intake on a Sunday. The woman who did the intake at Wrench N Go was unavailable. Crow Tow would know this if they had just base line respect for people instead of hurling accusations about "figuring things out". Crow Tow is the reason I had to stay another day due to their recommendation. There was nothing to figure out. You have plenty of proof of the vulture behavior and how they treat customers like hostages. Stay away. Please know, I was stuck with them because the sheriff called them before I could contact my insurance after almost dying in a roll over. Talk to your county Sheriff if you run into issues with them. They have a very close business relationship together.Dec 17, 2025 -
Quick in and out. Most reviews are negative probably cus towing sucks in general, but they were very efficient here. All of 5 minutes or so. Bring cash or a debit card for the ATM. The counter lady could have been nicer but I can't fault her at all.
Dec 14, 2025 -
Got into my first accident yesterday on a Friday around 3:30 police called crow tow to tow it since it's not drivable ATM, should have stuck to my gut and got it towed to my house. the other driver who's at fault didn't show proof of insurance got a ticket for that and improper use of lane. Got a hold of an adjuster for my insurance and started a claim and was told by my insurance to get my keys and plates off the car. Crow tow is not letting me get my possessions or keys without insurance paying for something first. Yesterday the lady was wondering why my insurance was acting so fast... makes no sense on why crow tow needs my car keys if they need to wait for insurance. They have no need for my keys at this point. So now not only am I fighting with crow tow but trying to get ahold of my insurance and not my adjuster since that's what crow tows policy is. Is it legal for them to hold your possessions even if you are the owner of the car? Got I contact with non emergency and the police to see what can be done and was told since it's a private company and it's there policy they cannot help. I will have to fill out a form for possession of my things from the car. This is corrupted.

Crow Tow, I really have to express my gratitude, because I was stranded with my truck at 2 am, they responded instantly, and they came to me, took me to the mechanic, and everything was so incredible that I will always be very grateful to them because I didn't know the area. They gave me service as if I were family, and the price was unbelievable, like it was Christmas. If you are reading my message, I thank you very much for the quick response to the problem, and every time I pass through Iowa, you have my best regards. A million good wishes to you, and to anyone who is in that area and has a problem with their vehicle, don't hesitate to call Crow Tow. Happy holidays from my family, thank you, thank you.

My car got towed this past weekend and when I called the gentlemen on the phone was very kind and helpful. When I arrived he was very short and rude with me. I had all the information with me but did not know my plate number and he stated he could not give me my vehicle when on the phone I was told I needed the keys and my ID. Not sure what changed from the phone call to the 10 minute drive over there but overall terrible customer service.

My mother was in a car accident. When I arrived the cops had already called crow tow. I was worried about the car getting trapped in thier lot, as I am aware of crow tow's reputation. So, I called them and requested they bring the car to the house to avoid the hassle and all the extra fees. We were told the vehicle was already being moved, so I didn't have the option to use a different company. The only way they would take the car to the house, instead of thier lot, was if I met them and paid in person. They would not accept a phone payment, online payment or let me go to pay at their office. So, I left my mother at the ER and went to the house across town to meet them as that was the only option they would give me was to pay in person to avoid it ending up in their lot. So I waited at my mother's, far past the agreed upon time. After calling them they told me the tow truck broke down and the car was still across town. Finally, after I started getting way upset, then they let me pay over the phone and acted as if they were doing me a favor. So, then I was able to pick up my mother who was done and waiting at the ER.
I had requested they push the car back in the driveway as far as possible and warned them the driveway was narrow at the back. The driveway is a double with plenty of room to adjust at the front. This is how we found the car left by crow tow. The driver door is completely blocked. The driver didn't care enough to try and straighten out. The driver just left the car crooked and not pushed back in the driveway, there is a whole car length it could go back --- if only they had tried to straighten out. We needed in the driver door to find my mother's glasses that came off in the accident, which was terribly difficult without access to the driver door.
Also, they couldn't give me a straight price when asked. They just wanted the car at their lot which I was doing everything to avoid. Finally, once they agreed to let me pay by phone, as the car never showed up, they asked for my credit card number. At that point, I had to tell them I needed the price to give them my credit card. It was $145 which seems fairly reasonable. The hassle was not reasonable at all and I will continue to avoid this company when possible.Nov 05, 2025 -
My car was towed from Molly’s Cupcakes even though multiple other vehicles were parked without passes and were left untouched. I was inside for less than five minutes and came out to find my car already being lifted off the ground. It’s clear the tow truck was sitting and waiting for an easy target.
This feels extremely unfair and predatory. There was no reasonable grace period, and it seems like selective enforcement just to make a quick profit. I’d strongly caution anyone visiting Molly’s Cupcakes to keep an eye out.Oct 30, 2025 -
Even though our car got towed tonight, they had excellent service and cooperation! They gave us a ride to there office, and Sarah and the rest of the team had a welcoming, friendly, and professional customer service! Thank you guys

as for caden grants comment down there> the reply from the owners is an absolutely untrue mischaracterization of these events, anyone shown the footage would see this woman began yelling at us instantly, and this woman proceeded to lie saying i apologized for my “boyfriends behavior”. I never did that, that’s a bold faced lie , and just because you’re elderly doesn’t mean we can’t respond to disrespect. good day!

Completely belligerent and hostile front desk worker over being unfamiliar with how tow lots work. I had taken two steps towards the lot to see if my car was in fact actually towed here and that I had the correct place, when the woman at the front desk comes out screaming the rules at me. I simply asked her a question and she claims I started yelling, then slams the door in my face. I attempted to deescalate several times in the office, but this individual had too much pride and wrongful conviction to deescalate with me and instead continues being incredibly disrespectful towards a paying (obligatory) customer. I would highly recommend getting a friendlier or even just a not outright nasty individual to greet customers in a healthy and positive manner, rather than immediately being suspicious and hostile towards two young individuals that clearly aren’t trying to get away with anything and simply are unfamiliar with tow lots. Seems to be the manager’s wife. Look out if she’s working.

(EDITED TO RESPOND TO COMPANY REPLY)So to start, we were at an Airbnb on a apartment complex and we had our parking pass in the window or dash. At around 3:00 on a Sunday while my car wasn't leaving there for maybe a half an hour. So they towed my car and they were closed at 4:00. So by the time I found it at 4:30 they were telling me I could no longer pick up my car and I'd have to wait the next day. They didn't care at all when I said I had medications in there that I needed and they didn't care at all helping us and actually put us on hold quite a lot. Told us what they didn't like how we were talking and at one point even hung up on us when we raised concerns about the medication. It was only one woman there she said and she refused to let us talk to anybody else or anybody higher up. Now comes a part where the next day and I walk 35 minutes to the tow place and I tell them all of this and even though their toe charges say things like $50 to $60, I was charged $200 because apparently it's a premium toffee off of a private property. Not to mention we had to ask locals for help. So when we started asking locals for help they even told us that croto is a predatory company. They have pending litigations and they do this kind of stuff all of the time. Then I actually get there. Then I actually attached the video because right away I took video of them taking me to my car. And what do you know? I open the door and what had slid down. Maybe a full inch and a half was the pass but it was in there it was in the corner. Yes you couldn't see it all the way but you could see something was there and then when I brought it to the guy I showed him the video. They still were not willing to give me a refund of any kind even though my pass was there. He said if it wasn't visible to the people then they don't. They still can just tow it and you don't get a refund. So even though I had my pass and even though by some awful miracle it actually slid down because it is a paper pass. What do people expect? They didn't give one that actually hangs up or anything and apparently you will get charged $200 if you don't keep the pass completely visible at all times, even though it's a little piece of paper that can slide on a dash when you're driving around makes sense. You'd think they'd at least offer some kind of decency when I have video proof that yes, my pass was in there. Not to mention the hundreds of dollars. It costed me to go to the hospital to get more medication and an emergency. So yes, this is the absolute worst towing place I've ever been. I'm out of state so they also believe that that's why they took advantage of me but I would never recommend them. I think everyone should start putting them on blast so they get shut down because rightfully so it's a predatory company and it's wrong to do to people especially to take advantage of out of state people.
EDIT: I COULDN'T RESPOND TO THEIR REPLY SO HERE IT IS ALONF WITH MY RESPONSE: Ms. Huey. Your vehicle was impounded at 230pm. Our office does close at 4 pm. We are open 365 days a year including Christmas from 8-4. So when we close we are done.
Your video is very self explanatory as you looked through your car not seeing the pass then found it down inside the dash face down. Looking from the outside no one could see it.
The pass has to be displayed for the driver.
MY RESPONSE: it's completely predatory and you continue to justify it. So you couldn't see it completely or initially, it's TINY and when I showed it to you, I asked for any refund at all and was refused. I had no problem paying the ridiculous $60 storage fee if you would've refunded the horrendous $140 tow charge. I had a pass. And your company making rounds that's late in the evening when you would be closing within two hours is predatory. Your customer service is none existent, apparent after hanging up on my friend who initially called and inquiring. But thank you for your insulting and pathetic reply.Oct 12, 2025 -
Our car got towed from our friends apartment complex. My husband called asking how to get our car back, the owner answered and rudely told my husband that they close in 5 minutes and it would be $260 to pick it up in the morning. Then I called to see what we would need to pick up the car, the owner again rudely answered the phone stating that "he had already spoken to someone about the car" I was simply calling to make sure we had everything to pick up our car that was it. When we got there the next morning the guy at the counter greeted us and was super helpful and friendly and then we went outside to get our car and the guy took us right to our car and again was super friendly. Thank you for the friendly staff for making our experience a little bit better!

Very bad service!
We tried to pay with three different cards, and all of them had money on them, but they said none went through. We waited for almost 40 minutes, and the guy was rude and unprofessional. He told us to just “call another company” — no good customer service at all!
If you’re in a hurry or want fast and reliable service, do NOT call Crow Tow. Worst attitude, no professionalism, and no respect for customers. Never again!Oct 11, 2025 -
As usually you are incorrect, I am in fact a customer against my will, with a receipt. Went in for a cup of coffee and come back to my car vanishing. The scantily posted lot turns out has residents “getting tow all the time” your staff’s quote. Researching the topic, come to find out there is a real need to reform our towing laws. As a concern citizen, I took advantage of my constitutional right to inform my state representatives of my experience and countless others and how laws need to be changed to protect citizens of this wonderful state.

I think they are awful and they stalk you and they should shut the place down. They are predators and they suck. If they keep walking up my driveway one of them are gonna get hurt. I come home from the store bout 9pm and they were parked in front of my driveway. My mom and my husband died 2 days apart 2 weeks ago and I stayed at my son's for 3 days and when I got home I discovered they towed 4 cars from my place! The one in the back had flat tires and the 3 in front of it were in the way so they took them as well. Owner helped write the impound laws. Isn't that a conflict of Interest? Very convenient. My car died 5 houses down the street and charged 140 bucks. Prices are outrageous and if there's anything in your car it will be gone when you get it back. Never a good thing when they're involved. stalkers.

Let's just say that it was a completely different experience than my last tow. I expected an all out ," show down" but instead I received a very calm voice asking how she could help me.
Instantly I dropped my guard because when I looked up to see who had asked me what she could help me with, I came into eye contact with a sweet, very cute, killer smile, gorgeous woman named Sarah. That was it for me. I had lost all the fight in me instantly. Everything I had practiced in the mirror. All the Iowa Codes I planned on reciting, hoping the company would see the error they had made, all were in the wind! I may be a sucker but even though the situation wasn't ideal, they way Sarah handled me like she had known me her whole life made all the difference.
Sarah made my experience very pleasant and I might just have to tow myself a few times a year just to say hello since she didn't have a personal business card with her personal contact information on it. Guess I'll just have to stalk her! Joking!!! Sara did an amazing job and I appreciate all of her help!

Horrible experience. I tried to look for their policy on their website and couldn’t find anything, so to me it just seems like they try to take as much money from people as they can. First they took our car and we were told it would only be $150 to pick it up. Then when we came to get it the next day because they had closed and we couldn’t get it that night they said it’s and extra $75 for the over night stay. Then it’s apparently an extra $50 just to drive it up to us so we can get it off the property. And while we were there they tried to tell us we have to wait to get papers signed or pay it online when it literally states on their door we can pay there. He was just trying to make us wait till after the holiday so we would have to pay like $600. Whole thing is a scam and needs to be looked into!!

Getting towed and paying for a tow fee = alright.
Getting towed at 5:30 pm and not being able to get your car until 8 am the next day therefore being forced to pay a storage fee = how is that legal ??
How can you tow someone after YOUR own business hours ?? Super “sneaky” way to get your daily storage charge.Aug 29, 2025 -
I have lived 4001 EP True, West Des Moines. You have towed my car while I have parking permit. You also have gotten back my car into old place.
I don't know way to tow my car, but with the
wheel tracks on the ground, that is big problem. I think the car transmission was wrong.
My car is Lexus RX 450h AWD. I need to slove this problem.Jul 05, 2025 -
Got to work at 8:30am in this housing development and saw 2 cars parked in front of the mail box parking spaces so I parked there as well. I didn't see the sign because a car was parked in the spot where the no parking sign is in front of and i parked next to that one. Came out on break and saw the sign so I moved over to the legal parking space in the pictures. Around 12:45 I'm told my car is being towed. They drug my car from the legal parking space and ruined my tread on my new tires. Driver was just doing his job and these crooks told him to charge me 260 to drop it still even though they towed me from a legal parking space. There's a reason their rating is garbage like their company.
*Reply to "owner"... you still towed me from a legal spot. When your truck got there, I was not parked in the no parking zone so he shouldn't have drug my car out and damaged my tires. Duh, nobody likes getting towed. Stop spewing the same rhetoric on every post. You have zero defense for this. Your driver agreed its not right but your office is the one who still charged me. Doesn't matter who called. Is it normal practice to damage a vehicles tires and possibly transmission prawl from dragging it out of a legal spot? I know your company lied on the phone and said it wasn't dragged which is laughable.Jul 06, 2024 -
Horrible management! Towed 2 of our cars from an apartment complex that my colleagues and I were visiting. All of us are from out of state and there was 0 posted signage on the lot anywhere close to where we parked that says towing enforced. Entered into the lot where no mention of permit required or towing enforced lot was posted anywhere. We parked in a spot near the entrance close to the dumpster. They towed without being called and for some reason only took cash. Horrible experience especially when the people at the location start yelling for no reason and assume there were signs without even looking at all the evidence in the lot. Horrible people and the local police should rlly get an audit done and stop working with these predators.
Response to the completely false reply by the owner: We came in fully calm trying to explain the situation to the lady at the desk. Then the blonde lady in the back started arguing and yelling without listening to anything arguing without knowing anything. Next we were visiting our colleagues for dinner at an airbnb they were staying at since they didn't have a rental vehicle in town. So we had 2 cars in a lot that had 0 signs. If the owner were to watch the full video u would see we documented the entrance and spot we parked as well as exactly whr the posted signage for towing was. Nowhere in all of that is there a sign on permit requirement. This is all good though cuz we got our vehicles back and we will soon see them in court!Jan 05, 2024
