absolutely shady company will quote u different prices . Get quoted $150 and some how the next morning when we are ready to hire the price jumped to $300 during the day not during late hours where that would make sense . Take your business to someone who doesn’t take advantage and play games with their customers.
Excellent Service and reasonably priced. I would only fault that I requested a phone call when the tow was heading that way so that we could meet them there ( I was only 5 minutes away- but it was raining and sleeting and I didn't want their guys to have to wait for me) but the guys did wait for me to return and still showed professionalism. I will call Mid-Iowa Towing in the future for tow services, and will recommend to anyone who asks. Kudos to the men working in last nights weather conditions. They seemed unaffected and did their job well!

I had an absolutely terrible experience with Mid Iowa Towing. I recommend calling any other shop instead.
I contacted my insurance company for a tow, and my designated towing company arrived. However, the police (supposedly) called Mid Iowa Towing, who then showed up and charged me $65, claiming that the police had requested them to tow my car. I never called them myself, and I shouldn't have had to pay this charge. The driver mentioned they were in competition with other towing companies in town, and overall, the service was just unacceptable.
Unless you want to make a bad day worse, do yourself a favor and select any other tow service in Des Moines. I hired Mid-Iowa Towing after an accident in September. The tow driver asked me for the car keys to help guide the car onto the truck and eventually deliver to the repair shop. I gave him the keys as he requested and stayed until he had the car loaded to deliver to the repair shop. Shortly after he left, I received a call from the repair shop that he didn’t deliver the keys. When I called the driver to ask about the keys he admitted that he didn’t have them although I had given them to him. He re-traced his steps to try and help me find them. When it was apparent he had lost them, he then directed me to talk to his bosses at MIT to get them replaced. When I called MIT they said it wasn’t their problem it was their driver’s, which, as their employee, should make it very much their problem. However, when the driver found out he would be personally responsible to replace them he went from being willing to make things right to blaming me and claiming he never had the keys. I emailed their contact email address, and talked to multiple people at MIT who just shuffled me to others who were supposed to “call me back” but never did – including the owner himself. After multiple attempts to allow MIT to do the right thing it was clear they had no intention of doing so. Bottom line is I just payed almost $300 – almost twice the cost of the tow itself - to replace a key and fob because this company does not stand behind their work or take responsibility for their own mistakes. Dealing with car trouble is bad enough – don’t make it worse by hiring Mid-Iowa Towing.
Unprofessional and rude. Treats customers like garbage. I wouldn’t trust them with a door handle let alone a vehicle. Absolutely heartless. Don’t trust this company.
Great guys to work with, have picked up my lowered vehicle multiple times (unfortunately for me), but helped me without hesitation and were super fair priced.
Had an accident and these people towed my vehicle and treated me far and square when it comes to settling up the bill. If you need to have your vehicle towed for any reason these are the people. If there had been a 10 star category believe me they would have got my vote
Wonderful company. Towed my vehicle after an accident. We're from out of town, and they worked with me to get the tow and storage fees taken care of. Scheduled an appointment on the weekend to finalize everything. Couldn't be more grateful. Definitely recommend.
I got my pick up ford 150 towed by the city here and kept for 4 days.All I can say is this..good honest and hard working people here.Friendly and easy to deal with if you understand what the towing business is about.I read all the negative reviews and you will always find unhappy costumers in every business but if you acknowledge your mistakes and you realize that you have to pay for them then all is good.Thank you guys and God bless you.We will use your services in the future.
Hired them to tow a car for me. I was told they would be here around noon on Saturday, never showed up. I called back on Sunday, was told they forgot about me and would be right out, that was several hours ago. I do not recommend this using this business if you can avoid it.
This towing company is absolute trash. I called last night and the man who picked up was the most unprofessional person I have ever spoken to. He acted like it was an inconvenience for us to be calling when we were stuck in a ditch. I hung up on him after he gave me a quote because i refused to work with them. Stay away from these people. That guy should go back into the hole he came from and rot. I wish I could give a negative scoring.
I called them yeah because my car was stuck in the middle of the expressway and I was willing to pay whatever and I called 5 times and he answered once and hung up mid call I called back the other 4 times he sent me to voicemail. I called the other number he has on the voicemail and it wasn’t taking calls. Long story short shouldn’t even be a towing company
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! Tow truck driver left location of pick up and took 30 min to get less than a mile to drop off. Also, locked keys in vehicle and instead of calling me to ask about a spare set decided to break in and damage the door. Told the person where the vehicle was dropped off, whoops we locked the keys in the car so broke in and there's some damage- we will take $50.00 off the bill. I called this morning and they have not taken any off. Terrible experience.
Our van blew a tire on the highway and I called Mid Iowa Towing as they were the closest to where we had been. I am so glad I called them. They got our van home exactly in the time estimated and the price was lower than expected. Absolutely recommend them for your towing needs! They made a very stressful situation a lot easier on us and I appreciate that so much.
Ended up not needed their service. But gentleman I spoke with was very professional and helpful! In the middle of a snow storm he was able to give me a reasonable time frame to get to my driver even though we were in a parking lot and safe unlike other drivers on freeways and highways. Highly recommend them just from the way he talked and offered help!
I was able to get my truck stuck in a ditch during a big snow storm. Kyle was timely and responsive when I called him. He went above and beyond to make sure we did not further damage our vehicle. He did everything in his power to try to help me get back on the road. When we found out the vehicle could not be driven, he insured me that it would get right over to the body shop. He went above and beyond to make sure I was not anxious about the experience and that everything would be alright.
I will never suggest a different towing service. They made me feel like I was their family and handled everything in a positive manner. If you EVER need a tow, you can count on them for an all around good experience.
I found myself with a dead battery on Sunday afternoon. I called at least ten companies who advertised 24 hour roadside emergency services, including jump starts, only to learn that well, they really didn't. I then called Mid-Iowa Towing fully expecting that I would get the same answer but got just the opposite. I was told that yes, they do and thay actually had a driver in my area! He came out very quickly and had my car running in just a few minutes. Wow! Awesome service!
They were very nice on the phone, the driver called me before he showed up. It was very professional and loading my vehicle. Very courteous. I would use them again.
Mid Iowa Towing picked up my daughter's car after her accident, stored it over the weekend until we could get her property out of it, and then delivered it to the scrap yard for us. Austin was courteous and helpful and the terms were fair. I hope I don't need them again soon, but I'm glad to have met them.
Had an unfortunate situation where my car died. Called Mid-Iowa Towing. Gave us a time on when they should be there. They were on time. Mike was extremely friendly and professional when handling my car. I was very happy with my experience with this company. 10 out of 10 recommend
No issues, needed them this morning, Mike was there within about thirty minutes, very professional, got my car loaded up and delivered to the repair center and then was able to drop me off at my home.
If I can give zero star I would do. I had very bad experience with those guys. My box truck was empty and got stuck in the ice like five or six feed from the street. The police officer called them and then I called them after 20 minutes. After pulled me out with no effects, they asked me to pay $896 the driver said that because I called them twice. Next day ater I called some other towing companies and they said they can charge me between $100- $200.
I called them back and they asked me to send photos of the location then they agreed to refund me $250 but they never did. Instead, the kept playing games like we forgot, then you have to come to pickup the check, then lastly I went there but they said someone came and collected the check. I don't recommend dealing with them.
I called the place and got hanged up on twice, thinking it was an connection problem, I called again and a brief chat, I was rudely hanged up on again. I would never use an unprofessional place like this one. Stay away if you value being taken care of in a professional manner.
They are very rude, purposely would not release my car so they would be able to charge me for three extra days....not even though I had my only child, my son, who recently passed away at 27 unexpectedly, we had his graveside service the following day, they wouldnt even let me get any of my property out of it. I had to borrow a vehicle.to get to the service, unbelievable!!!! Made an appointment (due to COVID19) and then they didnt show up on time, had me waiting 45 minutes and then called the police because my friend told him $363 was outrageous for a 5 mile tow. Lied to police and said my friend pushed him. Just very unpleasant and unprofessional. This was a plain case of price gouging, in my opinion. Wish them the best but would never use them.
Great friendly staff I would highly recommend them if you. They have some nice great high tech equipment that get what ever the job you need Done is tell them David from Smith transportation refered you. No kick backs for the review just being honest.
Got quoted one price over the phone & got charged something completely different almost double the original quote for a simple pull out. Will never use or recommend them. Would give them a negative star rating if I could
The individual who had the extra key that opened up the cab is the responsible person for my missing property. I lost a key to the uhaul. I was waiting for instructions to pick up a key by the U-Haul roadside representative (David?). But low life towing without notifying me, was stealing my wheelchair, walker and locked briefcase, court files, 2 tablets locked in the front cab by playing Casper I'll tow the vehicle like I'm Dog The Bounty hunter.....

I'll let the DSM finest do the job they do well in dealing with thefts against persons with disabilities..
P.S.....Idiots...I do have the padlock keys to the padlock on the back door lower latch as I locked it down when Casper was looking right at me.......How did you get the lock off and who is the genius that cut it off?????
