Please do not use this service for residential garbage collection. I canceled my service over a month ago and they still have not picked up the trash and trash bins that belong to their company. I have spoken with customer service reps numerous times with no success.

I have been a customer for years, and unfortunately that seems to mean absolutely nothing to this company. For 3 days, my garbage was not picked up. I was repeatedly told they “couldn’t access my pails because my driveway was bad,”you can see the picture of my firewall below, which is simply not true. My driveway was completely fine, and every other large commercial vehicle had no problem getting up and down it during that time. I called customer service day after day and was told every single time that they would come the next day. They never did. The lack of follow-through, accountability, and basic customer service is unacceptable. After years of loyalty, this experience showed me how little they value their customers. Customer service is terrible, excuses are constant, and nothing gets resolved. I will be switching services ASAP and would not recommend this company to anyone

I have been doing business with Oak Ridge / IWS since 2010 and, until recently, my experience has always been positive. On 9/1/2025, I signed a trash removal contract with IWS at an agreed rate of $3XX.XX plus tax, with a contract term ending 8/31/2028. The contract was signed after several calls from a representative at IWS (P* C******), who explained that these contracts were needed to help raise capital for company improvements. For the past two months, I have been billed approximately $4XX.XX plus tax per month, which does not match the signed contract. I have forwarded the contract four times and made six phone calls over the past 30 days, but I have not received a callback or resolution. Given my long history with IWS, I am surprised by the lack of response. This is not a small mom-and-pop operation, and I expect signed contracts to be honored and customer concerns to be addressed professionally, without any form of retaliation for raising a billing issue. I hope this can be resolved promptly, as I would like to continue what has otherwise been a long and good business relationship.

Your money is best spent elsewhere. Avoid this company at all costs. As a customer for over 10 years, their service declined rapidly with missed pickups, leaving trash all over the street, and poor customer service. You will be told that they will pick up that day, only to have them ignore you and come the following week, leaving you with 2 weeks of trash piling up. If you do decide to switch to another company, they will dump your trash at the end of your driveway when they pick up their bins for the last time. Recommend to support your local businesses.

Terrible service. I have trash that has not been picked up for over 5 days now. I have been calling customer service everyday since then, giving me false statements saying that the trash will be picked up soon or “our drivers are on their way now” and still, does not get picked up. I have trash overfilling the disposal bins and trash being blown away into the street from the wind. It is truly disrespectful the way this company treats their clients. Would not recommend.

Although Mike at the Mom and Pop refuse drop-off is great, the area can be an absolute muddy mess after precipitation. The entire under carriage and lower portions of my vehicle are covered in mud. I hope that you will consider paving the area around the dumpster area. Thank you.

Vince is great—easy to work with, professional, and very fair with his dumpster rental rates. If you need dumpsters on a regular basis, he’s an excellent person to build a long-term relationship with. He’s consistently flexible and accommodating, and he always makes the process quick and hassle-free. Highly recommend working with Vince!

I am compelled to document my experience with this company’s customer service Supervisor Dan. Over the past few months, I have endured unprecedented price hikes in rapid succession, followed by a refusal to engage in good‑faith negotiation when I requested a fair adjustment. Instead of transparent communication, the supervisor chose to avoid calls, stonewall inquiries, and ultimately proceed with an unauthorized cancellation of my account. This unilateral action, taken without consent, represents a gross lapse in customer care my experience and Key concerns: Lack of communication: Silence in response to repeated outreach attempts. Avoidance tactics: Calls ignored, escalation channels blocked. Unauthorized cancellation: Account terminated without approval Predatory pricing: Multiple increases in a short time frame, with no transparency unauthorized double charges on accounts and instead of resolutions I was instead being spoken down to in a condensing and disrespectful tone by this pathetic excuse of a supervisor that unfortunately represents your company .I have been a loyal customer for years and have seen this company bought out many times but never have I ever fell so unappreciated ,disregarded and disrespected as I did with my experience with Dan.since this is the way your supervisors treat loyal customers then surely it is time for me to sign up with another company . I have reported my experience to the better business bureau.

I am doing a home renovation and rented two dumpsters at IWS with Vincent Grabowski. It was a fantastic experience that exceeded my expectations. Vince was extremely professional, always responded promptly, handled all of my inquiries, provided very fair prices and made the whole experience extremely easy and efficient! I highly recommend IWS and Vince for dumpster services. I plan to order one more dumpster to complete my home renovation and would not go anywhere else. Thank you, Vince! Very much appreciated!

UPDATE: The response from Interstate was lazy and disingenuous. #1 The names of the people I spoke to are in my review. Joe S could easily have spoken to them to get my info and then called me. Why is it on me to contact them again? #2 The email provided below is the general mailbox for the zombie customer service team. Not doing that again. If he was really interested in speaking with me, he would have given his direct line and/or email. **Interstate has since changed their response to my review. I had a screenshot of their original response and added it as a photo to the review. While I did eventually speak with Lisa, she was not able to resolve the issue (replace the bin they mistakenly took/stole with an identical one).** On the morning of garbage day, a box truck from Interstate pulls up in front of my house, takes my garbage bin, and leaves a different/massive one with a lid that doesn’t close properly. I was on a work call at the time but 45 min later I went outside to investigate and then called them to find out what happened. I spent 20 min on the phone with Mia gaslighting me, saying they replaced my bin to match everyone else in the community. Total nonsense - I had the exact same size and shape bin as everyone else, and now I was left one that was different/bigger and had a messed up lid. I asked to speak with a manger and was transferred to Maria. She was helpful/professional and actually took the time to do some research. Turns out they had a bin swap for a different address and my bin was taken in error. She contacted dispatch and told me my old bin would be retuned in a few hours. A few hours later, two trucks show up but none of them had my bin. They told me it was sent to Shelton to be destroyed and the office shouldn’t have told me I could get it back. What the heck?!?! They left me a smaller bin (similar in size to the stolen one, but a different shape) with a good lid, but still different from everyone else in the community. They didn’t have a matching one so it was either accept what they brought or have no bin. Hopefully the HOA won’t notice. As others have said, the office is a mess since Interstate took over Oak Ridge. Recommend using a different company!!

We started using this company when it was just Oak Ridge for business weekly trash removal and dumpsters for residential work sites. For the most part things started out well. Then Interstate Waste became apart of the picture. Dumpsters were being delivered to residential homes at 4am, completely ridiculous. We then set up the account that there could be no drips off earlier than 8am. However they attempted to drop off a dumpster at 4am again to the wrong house may I add. As you could imagine everyone in the neighborhood was very upset. Then the rep. Rob would set up days for the dumpster to be delivered and it wouldn't show up. No one would call to reach out. However when you call the office they have no idea what you are talking about. Jobs have been delayed due to them not following their own scheduling. Dumpsters are also left at a job site longer than what we are told, such as they give a pick up date and then show up 3 days later. For the business weekly garbage they have broken several locks. Told us they put bars on charged us but yet they weren't on. Took them a month to fix that. One time the dumpster was too heavy and we had to have another dumpster dropped to lighten the load. We called several times to get the additional dumpster picked up. The office didn't even know we had it. It took them a month to remove it. Last week we ordered a dumpster for a residential home to be delivered on Monday. We were told it would be there in the morning. We called in the afternoon to see when it was coming. Then was told it was not coming at all that day. We had debris from the day of work had to pack them in the trucks to get them off the job site. Interstate said they would send a dumpster first thing Tuesday morning. It is now 12:35 and no dumpster. We have called the office and no one knows about it. The rep said they were calling management that was at 10:30. We haven't heard back. We have no called the rep non stop and he is ignoring our phone calls. We have called in to request to speak with a manager and was told they would call. It's clearly simple no one communicates and they just do what they want. Office blames reps and reps blame the office. Save yourself the headache and do not use these people.

Avoid at all costs!! This is the most poorly run and pathetic company I’ve ever engaged with. I signed a service contract with them, which includes them providing trash/recycling bins to customers. Despite speaking to 7 different employees at Oak Ridge/IWS over the past several weeks, not one of them has been able to effectively have the bins delivered on any of the promised delivery dates. Each delivery date passes and I call, only to be told someone didn’t submit a ticket or submitted the ticket incorrectly, so I’ll have to wait until the following week. My trash pick up dates have passed without me having the ability to use the service. Trash has been piling up inside my home because there is no secure space outside and this company can’t manage to coordinate the delivery of my bins. A manager I spoke to gave me the business cell, which he called the “bat phone” to have a direct line since this has been such a mess. After today’s failure to deliver, he’s ignored my 4 attempts to contact him. This company is a joke. I literally have a mud room filled with bags of trash and recycling that I can’t get out of the house because this company can’t manage to provide the bins they’re contracted to provide me with. Now, they’re dodging me. The manager also said he would waive 2 months worth of fees due to this disaster and that was not honored. Pick another service provider - this is not worth the hassle. They’re a complete mess, and if you choose them, your home will be too. Update: Since my initial review, one IWS employee offered a special pick up to remove the trash from my home. After waiting hours, they failed to show up again, leaving me with bags of stinking trash. I called IWS to ask why they never came and the person I spoke to at that time said they never could’ve come that day so she didn’t know why I was offered to be put on the schedule. I was late to work and had to haul all my trash 45 minutes away to a friend’s trash because I couldn’t have it inside my house - it’s unsanitary. I canceled my service agreement with IWS that afternoon and have hired another, more reputable company.

I am the VP for a multi state hospitality company. And of all the waste companies I have dealt with in NY and CT, I can say dealing with Interstate Waste Danbury has been hands down the best. It is easy to get a hold of them. They have been amazing handling all my last minute requests. Whether it be extra pickups, special requests, or providing construction roll offs last minute, I wish they were at all my venues. My rep, Douglas, say on his business card "Let's Talk Trash to each other." He is a get it done guy. Highly communicative, very responsive, and makes one less thing for me to worry about disappear. If you have a choice, and want great service, speedy response, and best pricing, I encourage you to call them. Remember, I am a customer, and am very particular about costs and vendors. And I am so grateful that I have them to handle the trash and roll off needs. -Boe

Interstate has always come through with prompt delivery and are always careful with dumpster placement and pickup. They also provide great residential trash and recycling services and the drivers make a point of leaving the site clean and neat when they're done.

We’ve rented dumpsters before, but this was by far the best experience we’ve ever had! Doug Summa was kind, courteous, and incredibly informative. Talking with him felt like chatting with an old friend—he’s so accommodating and genuinely friendly. When I called to say the dumpster was ready for pickup, it was gone in less than 12 hours! Absolutely outstanding service—I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

I can’t say enough good things about Interstate Waste Services in Danbury — especially about Douglas Summa. I’m not a contractor or a pro; I’m just a regular homeowner who needed a dumpster and had no idea what size to get. Douglas took the time to listen to my situation, explain my options, and sized my dumpster perfectly so I didn’t overpay or run out of space. The whole process was smooth from start to finish — the delivery was on time, the pickup was exactly when promised, and everything was straightforward. It’s rare these days to find someone so patient, friendly, and knowledgeable, and Douglas went above and beyond to make sure I felt confident and taken care of. I am writing to formally express my concern and frustration regarding what appears to be deliberate price gouging and deceptive pricing practices targeting new customers in Connecticut — particularly in Newtown. Your company has quoted drastically different rates for identical trash removal services across neighboring towns, all within the same state. For example: New customers in some areas are quoted $35–$40/month, while residents in Newtown are being charged $44/month for the exact same service. This inflated pricing coincides with the State of Connecticut’s decision to discontinue recycling services in Newtown — a move your company seems to be exploiting for profit. Additionally, your quote includes an extra charge for recycling, despite the fact that recycling is typically bundled with trash removal at no additional cost in other towns you serve. What’s especially troubling is that these quotes were provided directly by a supervisor whose name was provided as Daniel ,when I asked to speak to him directly to get an explanation I was told he would call back. I received no call back.,which suggests this is not an isolated incident or clerical error, but a deliberate pricing strategy. This behavior is not only unethical — it borders on predatory. Residents should not be penalized simply because their town no longer offers municipal recycling services. Your pricing should reflect consistency and fairness, not opportunism. I am requesting a written explanation for: The rationale behind the pricing discrepancies across towns. Why recycling is being unbundled and charged separately in Newtown. What steps your company will take to ensure equitable pricing for all Connecticut residents. If this issue is not addressed promptly and transparently, I will be compelled to escalate this matter to the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection and share my experience with other residents who deserve to be informed

We rented a 1500 yard dumpster from Oak Ridge. One of the best experiences working with a gentleman named Doug Summa. He made things very easy and clear regarding paperwork along with drop off date and pick up date. Could not have been any easier. He was very polite and helpful. I’m a contractor, and I’ve dealt with a lot of dumpster rental companies—but this one really stood out. Doug handled all the logistics and delivery, and everything went perfectly. He was on time, professional, and made the whole process smooth with zero headaches. We had issues with them never coming, called (sat on hold) every day, they promised they would come the next day and the never did until the following week. Talked to the guys the following week when they came and they knew nothing about it and said it would have been impossible for them to add it to their route so they did not know why we were being told that. Oak Ridge refused to offer a credit for the skipped week. That was maybe 6 weeks ago (of course we were prepaid). Ever since they have been coming earlier and earlier. They used to come at 6:45 am (which is early, but we didn't fight it). Every week we called to say they really are not supposed to come and make loud noise (they back up down our driveway) before 7 am, we are promised they wouldn't do it again, and then it is earlier the next week. Last week was 6 am. Then this week it was 5:40 am - woke up multiple neighbors who are furious with us & have been sending us their trash companies asking us to switch. I called to cancel service but I never got a confirmation, but they said they would get the trashcans on their last day. They did not get the trashcans (it was 5:40 am so I could not go from being woken up to out to talk to the truck in time to make sure they did). I keep calling and am having trouble getting through. Finally submitted a "Request Service" form on their website asking for confirmation that we have been canceled and to come get the bins at an appropriate time, and also no response. The guys on the truck are lovely, but something is up with the company itself. If you are consider starting service with them, I suggest going with someone else or waiting for indications that they have sorted out whatever these issues are.

Dumpsters are consistently delivered and removed on time, which helps keep our projects running smoothly. We really appreciate the reliable service and communication!

This company deserves ZERO starts. Its the WORST. 1) It’s a hastle for them to do their work and pick up the trash as scheduled. Despite paying them timely with auto payments 2)Management is useless and difficult to get a hold off 3) They charge you extra for calling and having them pick up thr trash they never picked up to begin with 4)They give you XYZ reasons for not taking the trash ***STAY AWaY and Avoid Headaches with this company!!!
