A friend and I attended a beer and wine pairing dinner at The Mill at Fine Creek back in December, and the entire experience was nothing short of incredible. From start to finish, the night felt almost surreal. The pairings were absolutely spot-on. The way each course was described helped paint a vivid picture of the flavors before the food ever touched the table — enough to make your mouth water — and then your taste buds immediately nodded in agreement once you took that first bite. Each pairing left you wanting more. It was thoughtful, intentional, and beautifully executed. What made the evening even more special was the atmosphere. We were surrounded by people who shared a genuine love for food and beer, which created such a warm and communal energy. The team behind the event clearly brought together a range of expertise, and each person involved was just as impressive as the next. Knowing that most of what we were served came directly from their garden and was made from scratch made the experience even more meaningful. Everything felt fresh, local, and deeply satisfying. I’ve always associated food pairings with wine, but this experience completely shifted my perspective. Pairing beer with a full meal — and doing it at a brewery — was something I never knew I was missing. And not just any brewery. The Mill at Fine Creek is surrounded by stunning scenery, from natural landscapes to beautifully repurposed historic buildings that now serve as wedding and event spaces. Everywhere you turn feels picture-perfect. If you plan ahead, you can even rent a cottage and turn your visit into a relaxing weekend getaway, which only adds to the charm of the entire property. This was more than just a dinner — it was an experience I’ll remember for a long time, and one I would absolutely do again.

As a wedding vendor, I have to say The Mill at Fine Creek is one of my favorite places to work for so many reasons. The entire staff that I have ever interacted with was so kind and helpful to the whole bridal party/family but also to me as a hair and makeup vendor. The house we got everyone ready in was so beautiful and well maintained and perfectly spacious for beauty services. Plus, the whole property is so stunning and a true hidden gem in Powhatan. Me and my team love every chance we get to work weddings with this awesome venue! Major Bonus will always be grabbing a cup of coffee and fresh pastry in the morning from Fine Creek Provisions right at the front, some of the best pastries locally.

I got married here in October 2025 and cannot say enough good things. The venue is absolutely beautiful, and the entire staff made our planning and day a breeze. Having everything re: catering, cake/dessert, and “rentals” was a huge plus and made planning a wedding while living out of Richmond easy and less stressful. Our wedding planner Lexi was top notch - I could write an entire review just on her alone. I seriously don’t think I could have made it through the day and planning process without her. The food was simply incredible and we had SO many people tell us it was the best wedding food they ever had. Also, don’t skip on booking the cottages! 10/10 Recommend this venue and its staff!

My wife and I got married at the Mill on a (very) cold Sunday in December. The Mill was an absolutely stunning wedding venue and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The food was incredible (so many guests have reached out afterwards and said that over and over again), the cake was gorgeous and delicious, the reception and dinner lighting created the most warm and romantic atmosphere (plus the subtle Christmas/wintery decorations were stunning!), and the decorations were beautifully done down to every detail. A huge part of what made the day so perfect was Lexi, our day-of coordinator—she was truly amazing. Lexi was flexible, kind, and incredibly professional, handling everything seamlessly and keeping the day stress-free from start to finish. Not to mention answering all of our questions in the lead-up to the event. Her calm presence and genuine care made all the difference, and we felt completely supported the entire time. We cannot recommend The Mill at Fine Creek—and Lexi—highly enough. We also felt as though we received a lot of value for the price we paid, and really felt "taken care of" throughout our entire experience. We had a perfect weekend and perfect day! Also, we had our entire wedding party and intimate family members stay on property in the cottages, and they all had a great experience. Hopefully we will never have to get married again (ha!), but if we had to do it over again, we would pick the Mill (and Lexi) again and again!

The Mill at Fine Creek was the perfect wedding venue. Many of our guest said it was one of the best weddings they’d been to. The food was excellent and the staff made everything run so smoothly. Our coordinator, Lexi, was fantastic leading up to and throughout the event. She answered all of our questions promptly, and helped us think through all the details. The chef helped us create a unique menu and even cooked a favorite recipe of ours that we gave him. The cottages were great for guests to stay at and the Millers Cottage for us as a couple was incredible. The Mill really knows how to manage details and the space itself is incredibly beautiful. We didn’t need much in terms of decoration to pull the space together! The list of vendors The Mill works with were also incredible. We can’t thank The Mill enough for helping us create a day we’ll remember forever!

I recently had my wedding at the Mill at Fine Creek, and I cannot say enough about how beautiful it was. We had our ceremony in the Ruins, and it was truly a dream. Our day of coordinator was Lexi, and she is absolutely amazing. She was so responsive, answered my (millions of) questions throughout the whole process, and was SO organized day of. Lexi was so competent, confident, kind, and attentive. In addition to being so helpful in the planning process, she checked in with us throughout the whole night to make sure we had everything we needed. I cannot say enough good things about Lexi, and I would highly encourage anyone having a wedding at the Mill to request her as their coordinator! The food was UNBELIEVABLE. Meeting with the chef before the wedding was so helpful, and he was so knowledgeable and attuned to what we were envisioning. The cake was also incredible. Pierre did an unbelievable job, and it was decorated beautifully! We had such an incredible experience and owe so much of that to the incredible team at the Mill. Melyssa, the hospitality coordinator, was so helpful the morning of with making sure we had everything we needed and helping make the reception space look perfect! The bartenders and servers were so friendly and attentive and truly made the evening so enjoyable and run so smoothly. We stayed in the cottages and had a wonderful experience. They were so clean and well-stocked. Everyone at Provisions that we interacted with were so friendly and kind. We did a welcome drinks event at the brewery as well, and it went so smoothly! Daniel was so helpful throughout the planning process, and the bartenders and servers throughout the evening were excellent! I would recommend this venue for anyone planning a wedding, and we will definitely be back to visit!

We had our wedding here and I can't say enough good things about this venue! It's stunning, especially in the fall time. They make all the food and the cake so it's a one-stop-shop and it was all delicious. Having the cottages on-site was perfect for all of our out of town guests. Also love how Fine Creek Provisions is there for coffee and pastries, and they also have a brewery where we hosted our welcome party the night before. Overall, they did so much for us from providing a day of coordinator to the candles and linens, which takes a lot of planning stress off the bride! Can't recommend this beautiful venue enough! It was so perfect!

We had the most amazing experience at The Mill! From booking to the big day, everything was smooth and stress-free. Lexi, our day-of coordinator, was incredible — she helped through every detail and stressful moment, and made sure everything ran perfectly. The food and cake were delicious, and the included decor made planning so much easier. The venue itself is absolutely stunning — the beautiful landscaping and peaceful creek created our own magical fairytale setting. We also loved having the option to book the cottages, which made it super convenient for us and our guests to spend the weekend together! Our daughter and son-in-law had their dream wedding at The Mill at Fine Creek. Their provided wedding planner, Lexi helped to make their day PERFECT due to her organization, attentiveness, patience, understanding, kindness as well as her willingness to do whatever necessary to make things run smoothly. She made the entire process seamless. We were able to trust in the process and everything was perfect. She is absolutely fantastic! MeLyssa was so very helpful the morning of the wedding. She checked in with us regularly and was wonderful in helping with any set up or other needs we had. The grounds, the ruins and cottages were beautiful and so well-kept! The staff at Provisions, at the brewery and everyone involved in the venue space were kind, attentive, helpful and all-around amazing. The set-up/break-down staff, bar staff and servers worked tirelessly and always with a smile on their faces. The food was unanimously voted the best appetizers and meals anyone had enjoyed at a wedding. Our compliments to the chef(s). We definitely kept the bar staff busy and they were up to the challenge. We will always highly recommend to anyone who will listen that having a wedding at The Mill at Fine Creek is simply the best decision they will make.

My husband and I got married at The Mill at Fine Creek and Lexi Larkins was our day of coordinator. Madison was our hospitality coordinator. Throughout the entire planning process, Lexi, was such a wonderful, thoughtful, and attentive partner. The day of our wedding she was such a calming presence. My husband and I felt so cared for throughout the entire day. The food was wonderful. The vendors all seemed well prepared. Everyone deserves to experience working with someone as kind and as accommodating as Lexi. My mother stayed in one of the cottages the night before the wedding and raved about how comfortable the bed was and how well she was able to rest the night before. She’s now trying to find out the exact mattress so she can buy one for her home. The Miller’s Cottage was so cozy and perfect for my husband and his groomsmen to get ready in. The bridal suite was a wonderful space to spend the morning/afternoon. Our hair and make up artists noted how convenient the salon chairs were. We felt like we had plenty of room to hang out. I could not recommend this venue enough!

We hosted our real estate team’s annual planning day at The Mill at Fine Creek, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish! The entire staff was so helpful in making the reservation, planning, and coordinating every detail leading up to our event. On the day of, Madison went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. From keeping the coffee hot, the creamer cold, and ensuring we had everything we needed to stay focused and comfortable she was on top of it. Her attentiveness and kindness truly stood out! Our team loved being able to enjoy the beautiful venue. We had plenty of space to work together, as well as areas to spread out for quiet reflection and planning. We also had so much fun taking team photos around the property; it made the day both productive and memorable. I can’t recommend The Mill at Fine Creek highly enough for team events, retreats, or meetings. The setting is stunning, the staff is exceptional, and the overall experience exceeded every expectation. We’ll definitely be back!

My wife and I recently attended a wedding at this venue. The parking and other amenities were great! The food and drinks good. We did not stay onsite. Use care when walking on the stone walkways. In each case, a staff member was nearby to offer assistance.

We had our wedding recently at the mill and the food & desserts were amazing, our guests were saying it’s the best they had ever had at a wedding. The venue itself is pretty and staff were really helpful with a last minute rain plan. The ceremony inside went just as smoothly and looked just as great as it would have outside. However, we did not have a great experience with our coordinator. Although she was helpful with decoration setup and timeline, she had some key misses that were important to us and our family. First, there were not enough chairs at the head table making the best man stand off to the side of the room while we completed our first dance and moved into dinner. Going into dinner, we had to last minute grab him a chair and plate setup. The chairs that were at head table were also spaced awkwardly & uncomfortably for guests and it was setup in a way that we had specifically asked our coordinator not to do when we met with her prior to the wedding. As we took our seats for dinner, we had to last minute shift all of our bridal party around the table and have everyone space out so we weren’t so shoulder to shoulder for dinner just causing things to not go as smoothly. Additionally, arrangement of assigned table numbers was incorrect and resulted in our direct family, including the grooms parents and the officiant (grooms uncle) to be sat in the corner of the room unable to see the first dance and forcing them to stand during the first dance which they were unhappy about after the wedding. Finally, throughout the entire planning process she had a very abrasive and condescending attitude, during our coordination meetings and especially at the rehearsal. After our rehearsal, we had multiple members of the wedding party and family come up to us to comment on her attitude. This left us with a bad taste in our mouth leading up to the wedding day.

We were blown away by the food and desserts at The Mill at Fine Creek. Our guests are still raving about each course, and the cake was stunning (even though our topper was mistakenly eaten, the team quickly provided a replacement, which we greatly appreciated). The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and created the perfect backdrop for our wedding day. That said, there are some areas where we think the experience could be even better. Communication throughout the planning process was sometimes challenging, even when we reached out with questions. On the day of our wedding, our hope was to follow the timeline we had carefully planned so that we could maximize time with our guests. Although our coordinator reassured us things were on track, the buffet ended up starting later than expected. Because of that delay, our reception ended with much less dancing time than we had envisioned. We had chosen a buffet in part because we were told it would be quicker than a plated dinner, but that unfortunately wasn’t the case. We share this not to take away from how beautiful and memorable our day was, but because we believe The Mill has all the ingredients to deliver a truly seamless experience. With improved communication and a little more focus on time management, future couples will be able to enjoy every aspect of what makes this venue so special—the incredible food, stunning setting, and joyful atmosphere.

My husband and I had our wedding there and it was like a fairy tale dream come true! Everyone was a delight to work with and they made sure our vision was brought to life! The grounds are beautiful and the food is AMAZING. My guests are still talking about how wonderful the food was! My day of coordinator was Lexi and let me tell you, she gets stuff done! We had a hiccup with the florals and she was on it and fixed it before I even knew their was an issue. She and her team thought of all the little details so I didn’t have to ( like making sure my husband and I got to try all the wonderful cocktail food while we took a breather for just the two of us). This team is the way to go for your big day and Lexi will make sure the day stays on track and will go out of her way to make sure it does! ????

My daughter had her wedding at the Mill at Fine Creek. I cannot begin to tell you how much we loved this venue. The staff was amazing. The wedding coordinator, Lexi, kept everything running smoothly. The food was great and service was incredible. I highly recommend this place for a wedding. It helped make our daughters special day spectacular.

Long Review Incoming! The Mill at Fine Creek is the most beautiful and most "well worth the price" venue in the Richmond Area. 1. The venue itself is stunning. Full of greenery and flowers in the summer. A steady breeze that drifts up from the creek. The land is painstakingly tended to by the team and owner. Our ceremony was in the ruins, we had 85 people in attendance and that is definitely the max cap of what is "comfortable" in that space. It was a magical location to get married in, and the grounds were excellent for capturing photos before the ceremony. The reception hall is spacious and full of big windows that have mature trees in view. There is an excellent getting ready space for the bridal party! My only note is that the lighting is not the best for the mirrors to do makeup YOURSELF. So if you are doing that I would consider bringing a ring light! Easy peasy. This is a great venue for if you want to do decor and florals yourself! They are very accommodating to DIY weddings, just ask and schedule permitting they can work with you to make sure you have time to get everything set up! 2. The Team. Oh. MY. GOD. The TEAM! When you book a wedding at The Mill, you get to work with a coordinator who also serves as your day of coordinator, a chef and pastry chef to create your dream menu from scratch, and access to the friendliest and most helpful staff on your wedding day. Lexi was our coordinator and I cannot stress how above and beyond she went for us. She worked with us for the full year leading up to the wedding, from helping us pick linens and votives (that the space provides!) to answering long emails filled with every random question I could think of. She always had an answer and is just an incredibly kind and fun person to work with. She was very present on the wedding day and kept the day on track so that we could turn off our brains and enjoy! It thunder stormed during our ceremony and upon entering the reception hall we were met with towels to dry off. SUCH a nice touch. 3. The FOOD! So here is the deal, they can do essentially anything you want! They have suggestion menus if you need them but you really have full freedom to have fun with it. This DOES mean you don't get a tasting of the meal. But I promise you, just trust them. Many people told me it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. We did German Inspired "Tavern" Fare and they knocked it out of the park. We had a small cutting cake that was beautiful and yummy! We also did mini pies with homemade gelato that were a hit! 4. The Mill at Fine Creek is a top notch wedding venue. Pure and utter magic. Highly recommend!

The staff were incredible—professional, attentive, and such a joy to work with. They truly brought my vision to life and made my day unforgettable. I toured the facility as a potential venue for my upcoming wedding. It is absolutely stunning the pictures do not do it justice I love the charm of the mill ruins and the actual venue building is stunning. If you love the authenticity and architecture of historic homes this is definitely the place you want to be.

Amended with full review for fairness. Review 1 First and foremost this venue was absolutely beautiful! The ruins are such a unique place to get married or even have photos taken. Lexi and Melissa were our primary coordinators. They both did a great job especially the day of the wedding. Everything went smoothly and that says a lot being that our outdoors plans were rained out. The only noticeable negative about the ceremony being moved to the reception hall was the tables when returned were backwards. That put the mother/ step father, father/step mother of the bride, and the mother of the groom and step father were furthest on the long tables from us the bride and groom. We noticed after the dinner service so it was a little too late to fix. Aside from that the food was AMAZING! The bridal suite was great to do hair, make up and get ready. Everything else was overall great. Review 2 THIS IS SOLELY ABOUT LISA THE OWNER! The ONE experience we had with this unpleasant woman was less than two months from our ceremony. Even though it was not on us to deal with the repercussions of her employment issues she made sure to put all of her frustration on us. We were MISINFORMED about the breakdown of the dinner selection. Not that we misunderstood as she repeatedly stated to us about how a previous employee did not explain the financial side of things correctly. She spoke over myself and my husband every attempt we tried to get clarity. She must believe saying she has run the location for over 20 years fixes the misinformation we received. She gave no customer service and felt the way she raised her voice was acceptable. She also neve apologized to us for her erratic and unprofessional behavior. It is also not okay to say " Well a normal person would..." to your to be bride an groom when discussing/ planning. We have never been married so how would we possibly know what is normal for the number of appetizers? I would rate her a 0 out of 5 stars. I would also never wish a future bride/groom to go through what we did while she so poorly transitioned her new staff to take over her so called "there is a reason she isn't here" previous employee. Honestly the previous employee was the most outwardly communicative of everyone before she was no longer employed. So Lisa I hope you think about how poorly you treated us in the future and treat other couples better. Better yet just let Melissa and Lexi stick to the customer service side.

The Mill is the absolute best wedding venue we could have asked for, and was comparable in price to venues who offered much less. The grounds and banquet hall were gorgeous, and the ruins ceremony site looked like something out of a fairytale, both we and our guests were all so in love with the ruins! It was so convenient having catering and the cake done in-house since it meant two fewer vendors to find, and all our guests raved about both the food and the cake. Our day-of coordinator Beatrice, who worked with us basically our whole planning process, was fantastic, easy to work with, and was very quick to answer all of our questions (and we had a lot.) We truly couldn’t have come up with a better venue or staff if we tried!

This was the perfect venue for us. Right away, on our first visit to check it out- we were obsessed! The whole place just feels magical and with such natural beauty all around it made our day so special. The team at the Mill was so fantastic to work with during planning. The venue has so many of the needs of a wedding covered. It was so convenient that part of the package included the ceremony location with seating, the reception location with all the things you need for a beautiful dinner set up, catering on site and even cottages for guest to stay. This allowed us to focus on all of the little touches we wanted for our guests instead of having to worry about renting plates, glasses, linens and things like that. It's all there for you! We used the in house day of coordinator service and that we a must. Melissa (our coordinator) helped keep everything on track and allowed me as a bride to really enjoy everything! The Ceremony Site- We chose "The Ruins" and it felt like we were in Ireland, it was stunning. There are 3 outdoor ceremony locations on site- all really beautiful and can cater to different tastes and crowd sizes. The benefit with the Mill is that they also have an indoor area that is great as a backup in case of bad weather, which is a huge bonus. The Cake- OH MY GOSH- Pierre makes some delicious cakes. We tried a few and each was fantastic, it made it hard to pick one. The Food- Working with the catering team was awesome! We wanted to do a Bourbon forward theme and had some unique requests to match - we were continuously met with a "yeah, no problem" response. Everything was delicious! I have one friend that's been to 15 weddings in the last 2 years, and she said it was the best wedding food she's ever had. So many guests continue to comment on the appetizers and the main dish. If you are a foodie, this is the wedding venue for you! They are also very accommodating for allergy friendly dishes. The Drinks- We had a "Choose your own Old Fashioned" bar as well as other drinks and our guests had so much fun trying out the different offerings. The bar crew did a wonderful job and met all of our requests with ease! The Cottages- We booked cottages for our guests to stay overnight and everyone commented on how cute and cozy they were. Many guests loved the Provisions shop as well where you check in and out. Guests also really enjoyed stopping by the creek and walking the grounds taking some of their own beautiful photos in the gorgeous setting. Overall- if you are looking for a rustic, naturally beautiful venue with everything on site and the most fantastic food and drinks- BOOK The Mill at Fine Creek. You will not be disappointed!

The Mill was the most perfect location for our late September wedding. The venue is absolutely stunning-- the backdrop to a perfect day. Lisa & the chef's made an incredible meal, starring shrimp and grits, scallops, crab cakes, and so much more! All of our guests were so pleased with the service, professionalism, and fun energy that the Mill staff provided on our big day. They catered towards every single detail in order to make this the best day of our lives. There's no better option for a perfect wedding/event.

Leslie Bonner, our Wedding Coordinator, took care of so many details, and she was amazing! The venue is magical, and our guests enjoyed every little wedding touch. The desserts were mouth-watering and the food was creamy, flavorful and delicious. Thank you to all of the Mill at Fine Creek staff for all that you did to create a beautiful wedding for our family.
