What clients say about ReSOURCE Barre in Barre (VT)

The folks that work the floor and drop off bay are all quite friendly and helpful. The (male) store “manager” I encountered was exceptionally rude and belligerent - some middle aged pot bellied guy who should not be interacting with the public and who is likely a nightmare to work for. The merchandise here is hit or miss, but the prices are frankly amazing.

Exactly the kind of local second hand store we were hoping to find here. It's organized just enough for you to find the sections you are looking for like furniture, clothes, knick-knacks, games, movies, books, and arts & crafts. But slightly disorganized just the right amount in those sections to make you want to spend hours treasure hunting. We will coming back regularly to see what new treasures are there waiting to be found. ?

Sad but an organization that promotes community service has people working there with ZERO people skills. I have both purchased and donated many things. Now, after numerous bad experiences, I would avoid them and travel to any of the other donation place. For the past couple of years we have been reorganizing and have brought nice things to Barre thinking that locals would benefit. Depending on the day, there are a couple folks that yell and complain and carryon about people and their stuff. Now I go to other similar facilities (like the Waterbury ReSource location). They are pleasant and service oriented. Even if they don’t take something, they are nice about it.

The place seemed to have a little of everything imaginable. All the staff were friendly, extremely helpful. What a joy to visit.

A pretty decent thrift store in Barre, VT located in an historic old granite works building. Super nice people and the place has pretty fair prices, too.

This is a great place to find good deals on random household things you might be looking for. They have everything from furniture and appliances all the way down to kitchen utensils, and all sorts in between- clothes, toys, books, and more. Pricing is pretty good. Some things seem like a steal, but a few things here and there have the typical retail prices. Overall a good place to stop just to see. It's decently organized and new things come in all the time.

I visit every time I'm in Barre. Was excited to find two cow bells to add to the collection. Thanks to one of your associates (didn't get her name)

I love ReSOURCE. There’s so much to see! For having so much merchandise, the store is well organized. It really bothers me that so many reviews are so negative…complaining about high prices because ‘everything is donated.’ Yes, it is donated, but there overhead costs, just like any retail store. Rent, maintenance, payroll, liability insurance, electricity, internet connection, heating, and cooling to name just a few. Think! Engage your brain before typing. My negative review is from a woman who called and left a message about donating a sofa. She never heard back, but drove two hours anyway. Well, duh, that was stupid. Do you really think they have time to return every call? Talk about entitlement. Anyhoo… never mind the negative reviews. It’s a thrift store! It’s a great thrift store! Visit the store! You won’t be sorry.

Called and left message that I would be bringing a couch to donate. That if there any issues to contact me and left my contact information. No call back. So thought no issues. Arrived at store to be told they are not taking furniture. 2 hours travel. When a phone call would have saved the trip

Love this store! You never know what you'll find here, I needed something the other day and couldn't find it in any stores in the area, so I went to Resource and I found what I was looking for.

This place used to be so great. Items are pretty overpriced now. Itd be great if you'd open Sundays or evenings so people with regular jobs can come. But my biggest concern is people who are elder or have mobility disabilities are no longer made to feel welcome. Today, when I went in, there were no carts because about 4 to 6 were loaded with junk and scattered through the store. When I mentioned this to the cashier, she was pretty dismissive. There used to be walkers and wheelchairs for customers as well. Please consider all your customers, not just the able bodied ones. Thanks.

I generally like this place, they have a pretty good selection inside and the prices are right. I'd give it five stars if I didn't get so much attitude when I came to drop off a donation. I'm always friendly and cordial and I just get these stares of contempt as if I'm inconveniencing them by dropping off my donations. It really sours the whole experience, and I've decided to just start taking my donations elsewhere.

The manager is a sleezoid that refused to do a full refund on an unused product that I brought back the next day. Be warned, don't do any impulse buying at this place, because you won't get your money back.

We love this place. They love dogs and have affordable prices. Go-to spot for any thing you might have an inkling of wanting, and it could be sitting there waiting for you. They get a lot of good stuff bc there isn't any other quality thrift store around (see salvation army) and have a good mission, (make sure you round up!). Might find yr new bike, grandmas dulcimer, or a pair of skis that would do just fine for yr first year of xc skiing. Please donate here, it will continue to feed my thrifting addiction.

This place is amazing. They have had some incredible furniture pieces for refurb or painting, a wide selection of books, knick knacks and pictures. I go daily to find treasures. Right now I'm working on a gallery wall and I've gotten most of the pictures here (see pictures below). After 10 purchases of $5 or more, you get half price on (most = non building supplies) items. I've also posted a sample of some of the furniture pieces they've had (but have since been purchased). Go with curiosity but restraint. It's a good day if you come home with one little piece you love than to spend profligately and come home with half the store. Five stars.

My experience was very disappointing!!! My boss bought a DVD player from the restore on Monday and asked me to hook it up for him unfortunately I was very busy and wasn't able to get to him until Thursday afternoon when I hooked it up it was barely doing anything I noticed on the back there was a button for progressive scan so I turned it off and it completely killed the DVD player now I have a disc stuck inside of it. So today ( friday) only 4 days later I tried to exchange it for another one and I was denied. The manage acted like I was trying to pull a fast one but it was legit and now not only did my boss lose out $20 but now he feels like he owes me for the DVD. Little does the manager know my boss has done a lot for the restore over the years donating pallets and what not and this is how he was repaid well the restore just lost several loyal customers over a matter of $20

I have just moved to the area so I only gone a few times. I have found some good prices for some second hand furniture however I have found some things that I was personally quite shocked they had even considered worth selling. I am allergic to mold and I specifically asked the staff if they check for this when taking in second hand pieces of furniture. They told me they did but when I had already bought and brought the furniture home. A few of the small tables had cobwebs, lots of dust and one of them had a distinct moldy smell to it. I had to buy some mold remover to hopefully do the trick. The same with a set of knives I had bought. I knew when I had bought the set already in the knife block it waa a bit dusty but when I had brought it home and taken out the knives some of them had rust. It is obvious the knives had been exposed to moisture and the knife block had also a funny smell to it. I didn't risk it. I threw out thr knife block and have bought a rust removal polish that seems to have saved the knives. Laaf but not least, I bought a large home flashlibht in for my apartment. I had asked the staff if it works as it didn't come with a battery and they told me they check each one. Well I went to get a new battery I had someone look at it and in thr end it was cheaper to buy a brand new flashlight with battery included because this flashlight was all rusted on the battery connectors. So I would recommend anyone going there to buy something make sure to take a good look at what you are purchasing. There prices are decent just can be a bit of a gamble if you don't know what to look for.

There are always treasures to be found here and it's a wonderful non-profit. Unfortunately the pricing has dramatically increased over the last year. A used 3 foot tall cat tree for $50 just isn't worth it.

I love this store, except they need better consistency with pricing. Some items are low quality with a high price tag and visa-versa. Also, some "antiques" are questionable with an exorbitant price. Otherwise, I highly recommend this place for those who love to browse through all kinds of "stuff". :)

I love this place! Great selection of household goods, furniture, electronics, tons of stuff. Prices are very reasonable if not the lowest you'll find around. A lot of gently used stuff that would otherwise end up in landfills. Definitely worth checking out. It's hard to leave without buying at least something you probably don't actually need.

Lots of interesting, gently used housewares. If you have the time you can often find sets. I was able to find 4 matching red wine glasses for $1 each. Good selection of books, CD’s antiqies and collectibles, furniture and some

If you're working on a house project, stop here. There is just so much random stuff, including a lot of hardware (tools, brass, door locks, furniture, and more) almost all at reasonable prices, sometimes a steal. Tons of household items and often a good amount of office supplies. One used to be able to easily look out at the lumber and building supplies, but that's changed. You can bring you e-waste there for easy disposal.

I used to really love this place! I would go there to get used items such as a washer and dryer. Even though that particular dryer stopped working the second time I used it. The washer is still going great though. That aside I don't care for this place now. I still go there occasionally to check it out but while I used to buy a lot I buy nothing now. The prices now are outrageous. Let me give you an example An ice crapper well used and dirty was being sold for four dollars... What? I'd rather buy one new thanks. I used to love to buy outlets and light fixtures to rep are my really old house. An outlet that is no longer up to code and is used they are trying to sell for 50 cents. You can get them for that new? What? Crazy. Light fixtures used are 20-30 dollars, similar to a new cost. I used to bring my stuff here as a donation I don't think I will now. They are selling crap for high prices when a dollar or 25 cents used to be adequate ( and rightfully so) . I don't know what happened to this place. I can see this place accumulating a lot of junk they used to turn over items quickly. I'm sorry, but until things change they have lost my business and my friends that used to frequent there.

Very pleasant people, almost all their prices are very reasonable and the selection is unlike any thrift store- and I'm not just talking about the building materials. I wish they had a lot more retail space. Their knicknackery is a bit out of hand. They have many LPs. <3
