I stopped into The Auto Clinic last Friday and dropped off my car. They let me know it would be ready Monday morning, and it was finished right on time. The final cost came in under the quote they sent me, and the work was done perfectly. Super smooth experience from start to finish — I’ll definitely be back and would recommend them to anyone.
I blew a tire driving through Barre on my way back home. Jason was courteous and highly professional over the phone when I called for a tow, and was kind enough to drop me off at my hotel for the evening before taking my car back to his shop. 10/10 would use his service again.
One major phrase for you: civil rights class action lawsuite/ RICO / insurance fraud investigation. Under 42 U.S.C 1983: you may sue state or local officials for the "deprivation of any rights, priviledges or immunities secured by the constitution or federal law". Under the constitution you are protected from unlawful seizure of your property without warrent or just compensation. No one can seize and deny you access to your private property without warrent or just compensation. He can move the property but he can't seize control and not allow you access without warrent or just compensation
1. Impounded the car instead of taking it to a body shop like requested. I asked for it to be taken to a body shop he stated " no its going to my impound lot" if he impound it he gets more money than a simple tow fee to tow it to a body shop police officer termed it defrauding.
2. Would not allow me to go with the car.
3. Has not allowed me to get personal items from the car= deprivation of property.
4. Did not allow me to lock the car
5. Insisted it was totaled and it is worth less than 10,000. When I informed him I have full coverage and insurance payed for 10000 in body work before so it is worth more than 10,000 he hung up on me.
6. Refuses to speak to me because he thinks insurance is paying for everything because he is banking on it being totaled but insurance stated they may not pay to have it removed from his lot but he refuses to discuss with me how much to pay to remove it from his lot.
7. Wrongly abused his position to impound to his lot instead of towing it where the owner designated so he could charge impound and daily fees instead of a simple towing fee, police are aiding him in defrauding people and violating their constitutional rights and refuse to properly investigate or take a report because he has been in bussiness in barre for 8 years. If a police officer aides another in violating their rights or depriving them of their rightful property that's organized crime. Clean up Barre get this guy shut down. 8 years is too long.
8. I felt like I was going to vomit, I more than likly hit my head on my steering wheel and probably needed to be seen but no one asked if I needed an ambulance they were just concerned with taking possession of my car. Took 3 hours to get a ride home. Do not call the police if you get in a wreck they won't even ask if you are okay and will tell you that you can not sit on the ground, imply you must have been drinking not that your body hurts or you might be injured they will berate you for sitting in the passenger seat of the tow truck and will just drop you off somewhere with no means to get home. Previously the tow driver would take me with the car and the insurance would even pay for extra miles if the driver was willing to drive you home but I was told I did something illegal by sitting in the passenger seat of the tow truck and not allowed to go with my car or designate where my car went.
Police supervisor stated he probably impounded it because of how I speak. That is not a valid legal reason to impound or seize someone else's property and again if true would be abuse of power and organized crime. Police are assisting this bussiness in organized crime and part of the problems in Barre.
This is a very good company with courtesy, respect, caring, honesty and all the above. My truck broke down at Barre, VT and I reached out to couple of roadside assistance and they where pricy and one dropped the service after waiting about an hour. I called auto clinic after hours and he came out to help but my truck couldn't start and he said he will come back the next morning leaving late that night. He showed up early morning and took me to auto parts to buy new batteries on his price they normally give him and installed it on my truck and the rest is miracle. He's very reasonable with pricing too and I greatly recommend him to everyone.
Jason and his crew are incredible! The service is quick, prices are fair, and they are a pleasure to work with. We are driving across country and Jason just saved our trip. He took the extra time to go over my jeep and found that my tires needed replacing. He went out of his way to make sure the jeep was ready the same day! We are beyond grateful! Very knowledgeable and reputable shop.

Guys I never write reviews so read this. I had a car accident at 12pm on a Friday. I had my car towed from Barre City to the Auto Clinic as I wasn't sure where to go to have my car repaired and the police had suggested it. They close at 4:30 on Friday and had to keep my car there for the weekend as they aren't open. When I called on Friday they stated there was "extensive," damage to my car (I was in a fender bender) and that they do 2n't do body work anyway. I stated okay I'll take it to another shop. I wasn't able to go get my car on Monday but then when I arrived on Tuesday I found out I was charged $725 (225 for the tow and 100/day storage.) I was appalled as $225 to take it 5 miles is pretty steep and it seems unfair to charge two days storage over the weekend when I have NO option to come get it out of the lot. Anyway, every time I called this shop they were majorly rude. Even when I showed up on Tuesday to pay and get my car they were rude and stated they only took cash when I called earlier on the phone they didn't even tell me they only took cash. They interrogated me about where I was taking my car and who was going to tow it. They got upset when my husband informed them that we got our own tow truck for $125 to tow it further and they couldn't understand how when they would have charged 195. *Eyeroll." The major tea here though is that when speaking to locals as well as a former employee is that this guy has a used car lot and that he likes to inform people whose cars were in accidents that their cars are extensively damaged, charge them 1000s in storage fees and then try to take their car for them in exchange for the storage fees and then fixes these cars that magically couldn't be fixed before and sells them. I don't know how this place is in business but they are predatory and rude and you need to beware.
The staff at the Auto Clinic, particularly Jason, went above and beyond the scope of their work to get us back on the road after facing overheating in the car with few other options to which we could turn. 5 stars is truly not enough - we will forever be grateful for the help finding a place to stay and the great, timely repair. My tire pressure dropped while my son and I were on our way to Burlington. I got off the Barre exit and was fortunate to stop in to the Auto Clinic. Jason got me in, checked my tire pressure, and filled my tires up. I was able to make it to Burlington and back home. I got my winter tires on today thankfully but I’m grateful for the excellent customer service they provided. If I lived closer, I would get my car serviced here. I highly recommend.
Jason is a true professional!! He told me to drop my truck off on Monday and I didn't listen and dropped it off 2 days early due to brake issues and he said " No worries...not a problem!" I highly recommend using the Auto Clinic!!
Would not recommend having your car towed here after an accident. I would recommend having your car towed to Clark’s Collision down the road where we first thought our car was towed. My partner and I were in an accident in January and our car was towed to the Auto Clinic. When we arrived to collect our belongings from the car, the woman in the office was extremely rude. We moved to VT from NY in the fall and at the time of our accident our car was still registered in NY so we still had NY plates. Once we had confirmed our car was there, the woman proceeds to tell us that most accidents happen because of out state drivers who don’t know how to drive in winter conditions and tries to tell us how to better handle driving in winter conditions. First, we come from a part of NY that can see more snowfall than this area of VT and have had plenty of experience driving in horrible winter conditions. Second, we weren’t at fault, the driver in front us lost control of their vehicle and went perpendicular. Either way, regardless of who is at fault, what an extremely insensitive and close minded statement to say to someone who has just been in a scary situation. The staff at Clark’s collision was more friendly, more empathetic, and overall more of a joy to talk to. I would highly recommend them over this place.
I understand that they do their job with towing, I’m happy to pay the fee. However 70$ a day for a parking is crazy, especially when you have no other option because they are closed on weekends and you forcefully have to leave your car there with no option to pick it up. Some incidents happen but also taking advantage of college students is very sad. I hope you enjoy the 140 that you made just storing a car that wasn’t even mine while I’ll have to work extra shifts.
Beware of EXTREMELY HIGH PRICES… my advice is to ask for a quote before work is done. These guys did extra work that I did not authorize. Went in for a quick vehicle inspection and tire swap and was given a $1,250 bill just 5 hours later… Not thrilled with this place. Cost of labor through the roof. No hourly labor rate was listed on my bill… yet the cost of labor was $650. Mind blown.. and not in a good way
11/01/21 - On our vacation up to Stowe,VT from Massachusetts, the bolts on the belt tensioner and power steering pump decided to break. This caused the power steering pump to fall off, the serpentine belt to come loose, engine to overheat and the alternator to fail on our 2006 Honda CR-V on the side of I-89. We were then towed to Auto Clinic in Barre, VT about 30 minutes from the disaster we had just encountered. Upon arrival, the owner of the shop reassured us while also giving us a realistic description of the carnage that occured. Within the hour, A technician IMMEDIATELY began on extracting the difficult to reach bolts and address the repair. This put our minds at ease and back on our way with all our cargo to our AirBnB rental. A+++++ professionalism, these guys are a class act. Thank you so much for saving us money and our vacation!!!
I had my heavy duty diesel truck and my wife's Tahoe undercoated here recently. They're both brand new and I'm extremely particular, so I was a bit apprehensive about bringing them somewhere to get undercoated. I decided on The Auto Clinic and they were not only helpful in accommodating my schedule, but they were reassuring when I explained that I was a bit nervous about a technician possibly smearing grease inside my vehicles and such. They explained that they work on newer vehicles regularly and their staff are trained to pay attention. Although I never asked for a price, (I wanted the job done right, not done to fit within a price point) they offered a regular fluid film and a more expensive black fluid film. I went with the black, but I thought it was nice that they offered two choices. When I got my vehicles back they were spotless inside; I couldn't even tell that someone else got in them. The undercoating was laid on VERY thick and carefully and in every area of concern, while ensuring that they didn't get it on areas where it shouldn't be. They even sprayed where the lift covers the frame after they took it back off the lift, and that's a detail that I've never seen any other place pay attention to. I've gotten my vehicles back from undercoating at other places in the past and have been disappointed, as a lot of places just do a "quickie" and don't use a lot of product, in order to fit an advertised price "special." One thing I've learned with repair places over the years, is that you aren't getting a good deal just because the price is low. Undercoating is the best investment that you can make in a new vehicle, and if it isn't done right, or if it's done haphazardly, you may as well have not done it at all! As previously mentioned, I never asked for a price, but when I got my bill, it was almost exactly what I expected. I was very happy with the overall value here, which takes quality of work and price into account. Remembering that I was picky, the owner even came out when I picked the vehicles up and asked if I had a garage, and told me that I may want to park them outside for a few days as they might drip. I was glad that he mentioned this; I parked them in the street for a few days and they dripped there instead of in my nice clean garage! Thanks guys; keep up the great work!
CON MAN. Jason, the owner, replaced my alternator and charged me $500, then it died less than 2 weeks later. Tried to return it and get a refund but REFUSED to give me one even when I had the receipt and he didn't even try to look up the number on the alternator to prove it was his. He accused me of taking out my alternator right before I gave it to him "it's still warm" and when my mechanic tried to speak to him, he refused to speak. He gave me so much attitude, overcharged me, and scammed me. I am taking this up with the Better Business Bureau. DO NOT GIVE HIM THE PLEASURE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
I was in a scramble to find winter tires last minute (because that's just who I am) and I found some at Auto Clinic. Not only did I find tires, they got me in SAME DAY to put them on. I got there and was in and out in less than 30 minutes. The service was friendly and they went so far above and beyond to accommodate me. Words can't express how grateful I am to them for doing this. My brother is a mechanic and I never thought I would go somewhere else, but since moving away from my hometown - it's too far to travel to my brother. Auto clinic just gained a loyal customer - even if I have to drive half hour to get there!! Thank you SO much!!!
Auto Clinic was great. It was my first time and I will be a customer from now on. Very honest and cared more about was was best then the money he could get.
Pleasant, competent, wonderful adorable friendly huge dogs to pat! Good tires at fair prices. Using them for a a decade and have recommended them to others who also report being pleased.
I have never written anything negative about a business but I was just charged $224.90 for an hour and fifteen minutes of labor. It’s too bad because the people were friendly and the service was fast. I assumed the majority of the bill was parts but when I got home I looked at the breakdown of my bill and the parts were less than the labor. Too bad because if I never looked at the bill I probably would have gone back.
I was recently referred to the Auto Clinic for a problem that two mechanics couldn't diagnose. The Auto Clinic not only diagnosed that problem, but many others my mechanic was neglecting to tell me about. Instead of just telling me the problem the owner and the mechanic working on my vehicle took me underneath my car to show me exactly what was wrong. They quoted me how much it would cost, ordered the special parts & started working on my vehicle with the stock parts they already had. The owners wife gave me a ride to work , which I thought was above and beyond amazing customer service. My car was completely done in less than 24 hours & the difference I felt was incredible. The shop is beautiful, the staff is honest & friendly. This family owned business will be my first stop the next time I need anything done.

I recently had some repairs done on my car at the Auto Clinic. The owner noticed that my tires were also in very poor shape as well and asked me if I wanted to buy some tires. I declined and told him I would have to wait on the tires as I didn't have enough money. When I picked up my car the owner gave me a free pair of used tires and mounted and balanced them for me free of charge. They were able to fix my car quickly and always do quality work. They are one of the few repair shops that are actually open on Saturdays as well. I highly reccomend as they go above and beyond for their customers.
Unimpressed with these people. When I returned a uhaul to them they were very unfriendly and I realized I would never do business with them. Nail in the coffin when they just charged my friend $260 For a ten mile tow. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS.
These guys saved my butt when I broke down in Barre. After waiting over an hour for a USAA tow dispatch, I got fed up and called around until I found an available tow. Turns out they could get me in, assess my vehicle, and get me out that same afternoon, and even did an amazing job keeping the repairs reasonably priced without cutting corners.
I brought my vehicle back to them after a similar incident (different problem!) and stumped my regular mechanic. Once again, assessed and had the hard to find parts ordered the next day.
My visit to The Auto Clinic was a pleasure. They took my car in promptly, explained the problem completely, and offered a good solution. Before I knew it the job was done and I was ready to go home. Everyone was friendly and I felt like they really cared about me and my car. I plan to go their for all my automotive needs

Be very careful. I got soaked for almost two grand on work that I did not authorize beforehand. When I went to pick the car up I signed off on the work and later saw that the paperwork said I authorized it before hand. Read the fine print!!
