They fixed issues with my Jeep other shops would not even attempt. Was told by multiple other garages that because of the lift and aftermarket parts it couldn't be fixed or they simply wouldn't work on it. And the actual bill ended up being LESS than the quote. This is where i will be taking my vehicle from now on. Highly recommend.
Fair prices, easy financing, the staff are the 'COOL KIDS' of the auto world BECAUSE they were helpful, supportive and freely offered guidance. They gave me a comfy chair to sit in but I opted to go to the coffee shop is across the street THEN I checked out the little river walk in their backyard while I waited for them to hastily finish working on my car. i bought my car from ayers auto in 2023 before they were affected by the flood and decided to get my maintenance done at their shop. not only were they quick, but they were helpful and kind. someone stayed at the shop to hand me my keys, and my mechanic guided me in the right direction to get my registration and insurance. it’s my first time owning my own car and i deeply appreciate how helpful, patient, and supportive they were. never going anywhere else!

Since it was after hours I made an A/C appointment online. I found the process quick and easy and highly user friendly. No problem dropping off in the evening, going to use the drop box but one of the tech guys was working late and took my key. Appointment was at 9:00 am and got the text that it was done at 9:44 am. I’m almost turning into an icicle while it’s blazing hot outside. I have much gratitude for Ayer Auto!
Where to begin?! A month ago my parents' Prius stalled on the highway. By the grace of God, a generous couple picked them up and helped them. One of those people was Mike, a mechanic at Ayer Auto. Their car was towed to the shop and we anxiously waited the prognosis. Blessedly, it wasn't a catastrophic issue. They were able to fix it in a day! Mike stayed in touch throughout the repair even finding us a less expensive part. The entire staff at Ayer Auto were so kind and helpful. They're the first place we go to for any car troubles because we know they care and will do quality work. What started as a stressful, potentially devastating experience, resulted in us meeting a great person, Mike, and an awesome mechanic crew at Ayer Auto. Thank you, all!
Great people, great service. I've gone to Ayer for all my car repair needs since moving to the area. Every time it's a fair price for excellent work. Just had my car inspected quickly and effectively. Had an issue with my windshield sprayers not working and they were able to diagnose the problem and fix it easily. Could not recommend Ayer more.
Whenever I need Ayer Auto Service, they are there! Quite a few times now I've had to get my vehicles towed up after hours, and almost every time they have been able to get me an appt. the very next day. Jeannine and Tracy are excellent to deal with; helpful and pleasant. They always get my rigs fixed up in a jiffy, without complaint, and are competitively priced compared to other service centers in the area. They communicate, and will let you know if your vehicle requires further service or parts; before they complete the work. The technicians put the effort in to get the job done right.
During the weekend my car suddenly developed a bad leak in the power steering line rendering it basically unsafe to drive. On Monday morning I started calling auto repair places hoping to get at least a temporary fix so I could drive to work. Ayer Auto was the third place I tried. They were busy but Tracy said to bring the car by and they would take a look. In about 15 minutes they showed me a diagram of power steering parts and circled the part that needed to be replaced as well as another that was "blistered" and might need replacing in the future. They said the local parts store had it in stock, could deliver it and they could get the repair done in about an hour after getting the part. I was on my way to work by noon! Overall the experience was better than I could have hoped for. They fit me in with no appointment, were friendly and professional, the charge was reasonable and my car steers better than ever! I will definitely go back for other repair and maintenance services.
This review is based on my experience with Ayer Auto Service in the context of purchasing a used, 2010 Tacoma from Ayer Auto Sales.
In my experience, these folks run a great shop.
At the time of purchase, we mutually agreed on "working AC and working 4wd" on the "we-owe-you, you-owe-us" form.
The AC fix (compressor) was a no-brainer. The 4wd was a bit more tricky. After having the vehicle for a few days, I confirmed what I suspected during the test drive - it was very slow to engage/disengae 4H, if it happened at all. There was also a pronounced clunk from the drivetrain when 4H finally did decide to disengage. I communicated this to Sales (with videos) and they immediately got me an appointment with Service. At the end of the appointment (during which they fixed the AC), the mechanic said he was unable to replicate the issue. I spoke to him personally and 100% believed him. I work in IT and of course everything always works when the tech looks at it. ;-)
That evening, I tested 4wd and experienced the same issue. After reaching out to Sales, Ashley said she would have David, the owner, call me asap. I received a call shortly thereafter. David and I had a good conversation and he agreed to a test drive with me the next day. We took a short drive on a dirt road near the shop and I was able to replicate the issue. Without any hesitation, David agreed something was not right. Side note - this guy clearly knows cars and has been doing this a long time.
After a couple more appointments and a low mileage transfer case from Brown's Auto Salvage (one of the best salvage yards in VT) the issue is 100% resolved. All my interactions with the staff were great. Tracy, in particular, was superb about communicating and staying in touch. I/we planned ahead and I received a loaner car when I needed one.
To be frank, I expected at least some pointed comments about how much this repair cost and maybe even a "discussion" about who was paying what portions of the bill. This *never happened*. I walked into the shop, grabbed my keys, spoke briefly with Jon, the mechanic, and drove away with a completely fixed 4wd system.

Bought a car for $16,000. needed front brakes immediately as had ware spot from sitting so long, which they unhappily took care of- The sale process was like any other was impressed with the sales team I like all of them. But then the work needing to be done on the car came into play starting with my windshield as I did not notice the tiny chip in the windshield when I bought it and 2 months later during a nasty storm my window spidered from seam to seam while warming the vehicle.. Then I needed new struts, clutch, alignment, rear brakes that they said were fine all the times I had them check the car out trying to figure out an issue that ended up being my rim (my fault blew a tire) then a couple months later they said my rear brakes were scary and I needed to spend $350 on them and I need a new rim. So I got a quote for this rim through ayer for $248.00 for 1 used rim from browns auto salvage, which I thought was outrageous so I called browns, it was $110.00 so big mark up there for ayer. I also spent $1,300.00 on my struts and Im getting it looked at elsewhere being the my driver side strut still clunks so Im pretty sure they didnt even do all the work that took 2 full days. so at this point I have dumped almost $2000 into my $16,000.00 car and I still dont have an inspectable vehicle and they are marking things up like crazy so if you want to dump almost a years salary into a car and still not have a legal one go see these guys. I will not be returning to them.
