Losing appeal, damaged doors and other items. They all are becoming furniture stores!

Prices have gone up quite a bit. Are they in competition with Goodwill now?

Went here yesterday (1/20/26) for the first time. Found a small table. Asked the bald white guy with a goatee working the checkout if he would be willing to take a few dollars less. He said "No. We reprice items on Thursday." I continue looking. Another customer wheeled up a chair to the same man and asked "would you take $20 instead of $25." The same guy who told me no 30 seconds prior told this man "sure". Double standards! I will NEVER do business with them for this reason. Hire someone honest Habitat! And just for anyone reading the reviews look at how snarky the comments from "the owner/manager" are in response to the public's reviews of this place. There seems to always be an excuse for poor service or high prices. That in itself says a lot. I think it is time corporate gets involved with this local chapter.

Called to donate items and needed a pickup. I was told it would cost me $148 to donate my items. If this place is for helping people in need, why are they charging so much to pick up items that are free?

I know this store is to help other in need but this store has some really nice things but prices are really high for most items...

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the store. With so many items to browse through, I ended up spending about 45 minutes exploring each one. It was an incredible experience, and I definitely plan to return. The store was massive, and I felt like I could have spent hours there. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable.

Make sure you....Gooooo to the back Donation/Receiving door and find Mr. Melvin. He's an awesome gentleman, fun to talk to and a former Vietnam Navy Veteran!!!(Thank you for your service)🇺🇸

They have many nice things. Check here if you are remodeling. Lots of building materials at bargain basement prices

Got the jackpot there today. Happened to find the exact end table I wanted for 1/3 the price! Ch-cching!

Who in the world is pricing these items? I saw a set of jars in there for 130$ total. This is insane! Waste of time and disappointed in this location. I saw a used Walmart generic bookshelf with the bottom shelf broken selling for 30$! Diva it is 35 BRAND NEW! Stupid. EDIT: I just went there again and the prices are even more outrageous. 50$ for damaged old coffee tables is crazy. 65$ for a medium sized picture is crazy. I’m sorry but the prices are not adding up.

I simply asked when the table was gonna be 75% off he checked and said it was today which was great. Then he told me it was off a certain price great. Called over another employee to verify came over and wrote the price on the ticket, got to the register and went to check with I guess the manager, very rudely and very loudly said IM THE ONLY ONE TO MARK DOWN AND NO ONE ELSE IS! this table is NOT 75% off today! mam that’s not my problem that’s your employees not me. Never again. The beach and Florence store is way better management and way better.

We have found some really nice stuff every time we’ve popped in. Everything from brand new cabinets to antique frames/art. Highly recommend! Just bring your own help!

had a great experience buying a kitchen table booth from this location. staff helped us get it outside, then a nice fellow customer was a kind gentleman and helped us load it into the truck since staff can’t do that part. was a great day

I'm just gonna say they still have good prices in some things which is very helpful but, It's very hard especially for women Because they don't help customers Especially at the time that you need to put your stuff in the car.Sometimes heavy stuff and no one's in the store Help with it ,,when I go to Lowe's I'm always have a good help with my h Heavy stuff, Only one lady I forgot Her name is the only one that take good care of customers, the rest are kind of rude and make customer feel like if They are Make us a favor ,,happened all the time. They're kinda rude with women Customer, I think if they are in our community to help at least be helpful for real.

I've noticed all ten of the run-down thrift stores in the district have far higher ratings than this place of nasty attitudes among certain extremely rude employees. They abused and insulted my sister for accidentally walking into an unmarked restricted area. Big Mistake. Neither of us shall ever be returning. Highly corrupted run-down environment. The armpit of disgrace.and they also have some outstanding good friendly professional workers as well

Excellent thrift store worth visiting often as they constantly get new stuff in. Price are extremely fair compared to other thrifts in the area and they do a regular markdown schedule so if you see something you want, you might be able to come back and get a really good deal on it. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Seriously one of the best thrifts in the Columbia area and if you are a DIY home fixer-upper, they always have a ton of gear for CHEAP.

They overpriced items and slowly mark them down trying to make it seem like your getting a deal. They would rather let the items stay on the floor until they're practical for nothing. They had a rusted smoker that they marked down to $45 when Lowe's had it brand new for $60. Use to love getting bargains there but not now. Oh by the way this stuff was giving to them for free. Every sale is pure profit.

Always find great deals....especially if u are willing to apply a lil time n elbow grease. So many projects done at 1/10 the price of the box stores. The Restore is making my butchers block counter a reality. Great products if you are willing to work a lil to make it happen

This is a fantastic store for salvage home materials. Their prices on real wood furniture are more than fair but... there are cheaper thrift stores in Columbia for furniture and household items so I would pass on anything easy to find.

Always have great deals. Just picked up 10 solid wood dining room chairs (look like they were office chairs) for an amazing price. They will work with you. But you need to be able to load yourself and take home the day of! Great people that work there.

The store clerk berated me and complained about me to the other employee. (He didn’t know I was within ear shot) I was looking at an item that was $125 and after three weeks it’s marked down 30%. The markdown item went to 30% off on Thursday and I visited the store on Wednesday. Common sense would dictate he could get a large sale and a large item off his floor but of course common sense isn’t so common these days. He told me no discount, not even 1 day early. It’s fine, I won’t be back. Stay away people, there is a reason why this habitat is so low rated.

This place rocks and is worth the drive everytime I come to shop. THEY OFFER DISCOUNTS FOR VETERANS, 1ST RESPONDERS, ETC. (How come the restore in Augusta GA, on washington road doesn't offer these discounts, bc I shop in augusta regularly?) I came to West columbia looking for cheap kitchen countertops. They have great options to choose from that were very inexpensive like marble and granite tops. But they didnt have just bare countertops without the sink. A very large selection of new paint (indoor and outdoor), a large selection of books and furniture, N95 masks for only $5, all purpose cleaner in bulk supply new in cases. I was looking for things for my house but instead found new items as gifts for my family for the holidays. These had original tags still on it. I drove 1 hour to check out this place. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. My go to place for anything . Bathrooms smelled and were very cleaned and well stocked. Thank you for the excellent customer service. They were so nice on Friday Oct 8th, 2021 at 330pm.

This habitat is not good at all! Their prices reflect that they forget they are a 2nd hand thrift store. Take my advice! If you are looking for great habitats go to Charleston SC!! Charleston habitats are fantastic with decorator and antique furnishings at an acceptable price!

I had court ordered community service and couldn't find ANYWHERE to volunteer. Here I am 10 days before court and my friend recommend that I contact Habitat in West Columbia to see if I could get my hours there. I had orientation the next day and started the following Monday, I finished my 48 hours in the little days I had. April is great and is extremely caring and professional, everyone else there was very nice and honestly I hate that it's over, I wish I could stay forever because the environment was just that positive. I probably felt the most comfort here and I have hella social anxiety. And I think they pulled me out of that somewhat. Thank you everyone for being so cool!! I recommend ANYONE to volunteer here or finish your court ordered hours here, you won't regret it. Working for free sucks already as it is, but going here made that not matter. Why not work for free at a place this great and help their amazing cause!!

My main objective was looking at doors. I saw prices for doors that looked too have some type of damage, were higher than prices I saw at lowes. Used cabinets, didn't seem to be a full kitchen set, were outrageous! How much of the profits go to help people, because the ones who are paying, seem to be getting ripped off!

I live in Columbia, SC and I shop used furniture for a living. I have been to most of the Habitat for Humanity ReStores in all of SC, NC, and GA. The West Columbia Store is BY FAR the worst in customer service, merchandise, and pricing which is a shame because it is so close to home. On a recent visit, they had for sale an “antique” cane bottomed seat with a huge hole in the cane for $95 with a sign attached that said “Yes we know this is broken.” Any other location this chair would be offered for $5-10 and I know for certain that I could buy one in perfect condition for around $45 in perfect condition at any antique or vintage store. The same goes for their building materials and supplies. Most items are priced the same or higher than if you were to buy it new. Hopefully, this shop will get it together and realize that gouging their customers rather than creating happy return customers with fair pricing will grow their sales and better provide for the community which I think is their mission.

The Augusta Rd West Columbia store is clean and neat, The volunteer I talked with was very nice. But the prices are high .. They have some of the same items found at the Dollar Tree/Dollar General stores 4+ more dollars than bought new. ANd the $1 items $3+, so watch what you buy! Also they will not negotiate on prices.

My wife just got off the phone with me, which led to this review. She was excited and had found some furniture that she thought was at an affordable price. For background, we have one bank account and use one card for the both of us. The account is legally in both our names. The card contains only my name. She got to the counter and was refused to pay with this card unless she produced proof by of her marriage to me by her marriage license. For some strange reason, she had neglected to bring this to her shopping. Embarrassed, she left without buying the item. She has used that card for years, INCLUDING at other habitat restores in South Carolina without incident. I have never received any request for verification from any individual when she uses my card. So, while I respect their desire to keep my money safe from fraud (and themselves from liability), they are catching legitimate people up in their zeal. My wife should not have to carry her marriage license wherever she goes to use a form of tender that is legal and accepted at all other locations, and I have never had this issue occur before despite use at many places. We will not be returning.
