This rating is based on customer reviews, inventory size, pricing, and service quality
In Lansdale, PA, Joe Mattero Recycling Inc shows mixed but generally positive feedback, scoring 72/100. Reviewers often note friendly, professional staff, clear instructions, quick in-and-out, and an organized yard. Many appreciate the convenience and environmental focus. Common complaints include lower payouts than competitors, strict contamination rules (e.g., screws/plastic), early closures or inconsistent hours, and a small yard that can back up. They buy metals only—no parts sales—so inventory variety or finding parts isn’t applicable.
Used to go here years ago. Was a different place back then. First time I’ve been here in about 15 years and They Would not buy a pickup truck load of aluminum because it a a few tiny steel screws and plastic caps. Gave me a hard time. Not sure how this place is even still in business if they’re gonna be so picket. Never go here. Not a good experience. They will just waste your time as they did mine. I will never go here ever again.
Very friendly people! Easy to talk to both over the phone and in person. I had never done it before, so I called to confirm they would accept my old water heater and washing machine. They answered promptly and patiently addressed all my questions. When I arrived, the staff were helpful and gave clear instructions on how to weigh in, drop off the items, and weigh out so they could calculate the payout. I made about $20 from the metals—not bad! I wasn’t trying to make money, just avoid the fee from my trash company. I’m glad I could take care of it myself with a minivan—and it covered lunch! :)
I showed up on Tuesday 8:30am and they are closed. This happened to me before when I showed up fifteen minutes before they close. They had already left.
This place is a scam, a rip off! Literally pennies on the dollar. No matter what you bring them, they will Literally give u a dollar and a few pennies! Pathetic!
Twice now I went over to there yard to recycle stuff when I got off work at 3:30 and there never open but yet google states there open till 4:30 not a good look when u have customers trying to do business with u and having to drive passed cause your never open!
I've been going to this establishment for over two decades because they're a small local business, I have competitive rates and I've gotten to know the staff there on a first name basis because of how plate they are.
Definitely Cheat you Nothing like a Philadelphia scrap Yard I did a plumbing job up here and electrical job and they determine what they’re going to give you or what they mark it as I recommend this place to nobody
Worst place and they rip you off. I dropped off 140 pounds of aluminum and they gave me $5.00. Really, that doesn't seem right. Then they let me unload it my self. The people there never seem pleasant and I feel like they rob you of what you're supposed to get.
I really like this place... laid back, friendly... and I know they are doing great things for the environment. Support them by bringing anything metal.
Very friendly staff, offer decent rates for metals. I was able to drop a water heater off a few months ago. I went for a second time a week ago to scrap some copper from a home bathroom renovation and both times I was in and out quickly.
Low ballers. Rip off. Especially when the old man is there. This place pays 2 cents a lb. for steel and light iron. Emert scrap in Hatfield pays 2 to 3 times higher rate. I got 5 cents a lb there.
Called ahead and said I was going to be very close to your closing time to make sure you would not close early. Drove and hour and a half, arrived earlier than expected and they still closed the gate on me and said to come back on Monday. They'll never get my lunch money again.
