I came in to have my tires rotated before taking a road trip and also requested a state safety inspection. The check-in staff and Ally were very friendly and professional. I was originally told the wait would be about two hours, but the service ended up taking over three hours. After paying $54 and leaving, I stopped at a car wash and realized my tires had not been rotated, which was the main reason for my visit. I called the shop and the service advisor spoke with the technician and asked if I could return. Even though I was already across town, I came back and they completed the rotation. I was told the tech simply forgot. I appreciate the honesty and that they corrected the mistake, but my concern is that this has happened before with another vehicle I brought here for a tire rotation (tires I purchased from Pep Boys) and a state inspection. After waiting three hours and paying for a service that wasn’t completed, it’s disappointing. I’ve been a customer for years and hope better checks are in place to ensure services are completed before vehicles are returned.

Josh and team are awesome to work with and I’m always left confident I can trust them to solve all of my needs, without any unnecessary services and/or charges tacked on. Thank you! We will be back for all future services.

Walter is my favorite. He usually will tell me what's going on with my car. If you want a good mechanic, go to Pep Boy's!

Great service! They are even open Saturdays so I don't need to take off from work. They always explain plainly for this non tech gal and make sure my car is checked over at each appointment for service.

Had an appointment for 3:30, got there at 3:10. Car didnt go in until 4:20. Finally had 4 tires installed (no alignment) and left at 6 pm. I shouldn’t have had to wait for 3 hours. Was told at 5:40 they were torquing the last lug not. Insane. Will not be back.

Great store, made an appointment online, dropped my car off, received a text notification that the work was completed and a phone call. The check in and pick up was fast and easy. Thank you to everyone at this location.

"Huge shout-out to Thomas and his team at Pep Boys in Mechanicsburg! With less than two hours before closing and a storm rolling in, they went above and beyond to get four new tires on my car. Even though I live in Lancaster, the drive is 100% worth it for this level of service. They are officially my go-to people for tires—I highly recommend them!"

Don’t normally go to chains like this, but it was the only place open on a Sunday. I was so pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices and efficient service (without having to feel pressured, scammed, or upsold) the first time I went for a loose heat shield that I have been back several times for oil changes and inspection.

My front headlight went out over the holidays and the dealership had no openings for weeks. I was happy to be able to call Pep Boys and get it fixed within the hour! ?

Made an appointment for 1pm with a phone operator for an oil change and transmission flush. On the day of my appointment I was sent to the Mechanicsburg location when I got there I was treated as if I had no appointment and the garage was to busy to take me. I was basically forced to reschedule my appointment. To be honest the workers looked tired and stressed out. This is not the first time either. Another incidence was I bought new tires here and a sensor was changed couple days later the sensor went bad. My wife went back and tried to get the faulty sensor changed and was told they don't cover faulty equipment along with the evaluation bof service she was estimated at $185.21 just for a tire sensor change that they sold that was faulty. And I'm a long time customer to this place brought my cars here for years and this is how I'm treated. Absurd.

Got new tires. Returned to the store because of a bumping noise due to out of balance tire. Was told that there was a “bubble” on the inside of one of the rear tires which they claimed could have been either from faulty tire, pothole, or curb. They refused to accept that the bubble was from faulty tire but if the tech didn’t even balance the tires on the original installion then I highly doubt he was paying enough attention to see a small bubble in the sidewall. The fact that he didn’t balance the tires or test drive the car which would have revealed the out of balance tire then I have no confidence in returning and I will not buy a replacement tire from them. I’ll take my money somewhere else. Everyone makes mistakes but refusing to own up to it doesn’t sit well.

Almost put 2 stars because they were friendly to me but reading other reviews and my new found information. They failed my inspection on tire tread for both front tires, windshield wipers, one shock "leaking" (I now believe was a blatant lie), and a chip on the windshield (chip not crack) that wasn't in my field of vision. I felt it was ridiculous so I took it somewhere else and they passed everything they failed me on and only said I needed new front brake pads which wasn't even annotated here. So you can have my $75 dollars but I'm going to make sure no one else comes here or any pepboys locations again from allowing fraud.

Did not honor appointment times, due to "busy because of sale". Tires that I was notified were available and in stock were not available, and had to reschedule m tire appointment, and Wife's car was on time for her appointment, and she was told tat her ca would not be done until the next day "because of sale" Honor the appointments that are set in advance over walk ins, and if tires are in stock for the appointment, do NOT use them for another customer. UPDATE: Went back to check on wife's car, and were told that they don't carry the brand selected for her car, despite it being listed on their website. Told them I wanted to cancel both orders, and we were told that they couldn't cancel the order without a manager, despite the same person cancelling out my original order yesterday. Now I have to drive out there after work tomorrow to cancel the orders. Highly unprofessional and highly inconvenient. If you need tires, do not go here, even if they offer "good deals" because they are not worth the headache.

I would leave less than one star if I was able. We went online, put in the model and make of my car, found tires on sale, put in an order for them and set up an appointment to get them put on. We got there left the car came back after an hour and were told it would be several more hours so we left it overnight after paying in advance for new tires and air filters. We went back the next day and were told we ordered and they confirmed the wrong tires, but they could sell me different ones for more than twice the original price and couldn't refund the money on the wrong ones because the manager wasn't there. They claim they called to tell us that but there are no calls on any of our phones. In addition they messed up the trunk of car, not sure why they needed to get into the trunk to change air filters. They messed with my dash and gps gadget and the car now smells. I am totally disgusted with them. I would advise going anywhere else but here for tires or service.

Had an appointment at 4:30 to get an alignment arrived on time for them to tell me that their technician called off and they couldn't help me today but they had no courtesy of letting me know I drove an hour for the appointment just for nothing.

Avoid at all costs. Bad customer service. Scheduled an appointment but that doesn’t mean anything. Like many other reviews state. I have a fleet vehicle and they blamed the delays on that. However, I’ve had a fleet vehicle for 15 years now and none have taken 5.5 hours for an inspection, emissions and oil change. No communication. The app updates weren’t showing any details. When I started pushing, they said “it has never worked.”

I made an appointment for 3:00, and when I got there I was told they'd "try" to get me in as if the appointment itself was meaningless. An elderly woman with a flat pulled in at the same time as me. After over an hour, someone came to pick her up only to find that her car was ready. They found an oil leak during the inspection, which I learned in a text from PepBoys, so I went to talk to them about it. While waiting for someone to speak to, I listened to two mechanics have a conversation about how much they could justify charging someone and how much they thought he would pay. When they did speak to me, I agreed to a $30 diagnostic test. The mechanic said "it was probably nothing big" but then corrected himself that he'd have to run the test to know. Eventually, they told me that the oil filter housing needed to be replaced and quoted the repair at $1,600. I told them I'd like my car back and immediately researched the actual cost. The consensus was that at the top of the range of possible prices was still about half of what this shop quoted me. Ultimately, my inspection (so virtually nothing of value to me since it failed) totaled over $130. The receipt included an $8 fee for "parts from shop" which I have no explanation for but was too upset to keep talking to this guy. (State inspections are $26, emissions $40, the diagnostic test $30.) I'm not one to get angry about individual locations and service people. They work for corporations whose only goal is profit. But in this case, there's real people standing right in front of you making real time decisions about how much they're going to charge you, and they are actively choosing to gouge you. It's reprehensible, especially considering they live in the same utter economic instability as the rest of the country. No sense of mutuality, solidarity or caring. It's so disappointing to have lost that money to just have to go somewhere else and start the entire process over. Update: I spoke to a decent mechanic. Not only is the cost outrageous but they shouldn't have failed my car for that issue, so they literally stole my money. Cool. I genuinely hope for their own financial survival other people don't treat them the way they treat their customers. I'm confident the workers aren't making bank on the exorbitant labor fees charged by the shop.

The associates who check me in/out were very courteous and understood what I needed. However it took 4 hours to complete an oil change and look over my brakes. It took longer then if I would have taken my car somewhere else.

Spent 3 hours looking at my suspension and were supposed to be looking at my hubs and wheel bearings. After 3 hours they hadn’t even “found” my wheel lock key. I set it right out in the open. So they didn’t have to look. Deleted my appointment for earlier in the week. Today was my fourth time in here IN PERSON this week. Eventually customers will get sick of it. They literally don’t care at all. The wheel lock key was intact its bag with a PICTURE OF THE KEY on the bag right on top of my dash and after hours didn’t even call didn’t text me about it. Nothing. Just twiddled their thumbs I guess? I have no idea. Incompetent. Even when I made sure to talk to them in a respectful way and made sure they knew I wasn’t clueless because of the culture of this field towards women. Some of us aren’t clueless and can tell when we’re being played with. I stayed respectful up until it was clear they were just playing around.

Nothing at all quick about this place. An appointment doesn’t mean anything at all. I only need simple work done and have been sitting for almost 4 hours with a headache from inhaling the rubber fumes! There was another customer here who said she had been waiting for 6 hours. They need to tell you they don’t plan on starting your car for hours instead of wasting ppls times telling them to have a seat. Update: my car has sat all weekend I get in to move my car for the laundromat now my car won’t start it’s just clicking. Nobody asked for a “complimentary inspection” there was no need to open the hood at all. SCAMMERS!!

DISCLAIMER - Check ALL the one star reviews before considering this absolute DUMP. Do NOT come here for heavens sake. About three years ago, I took my white 2013 Volkswagen Passat in, and then it was supposed to be a simple leaky windshield fluid issue. A few days after, the car had even more issues. And the place told me down the street, (which is much better than this dump) for sure told me someone must have allegedly made a mistake and allegedly did further damage to my car and it resulted in an $800 car bill. Don't trust these crooks and take your money elsewhere

Usually I have great experiences here. Really quick service and they are super nice. I love the one guys who works up front and has to long beard. Today I thought it would be quick however I asked them to fix something else so I figured it would take longer. I was there for 6 hours. And they didn't fix what I asked them to.

I have recently dropped my Mercedes due to an issue with Air conditioning. It ended up needing higher level repair. Pepboys techs were able to handle it and got the new parts needed from Mercedes. Once it all installed system did not work as expected due to a software glitch. They did not leave it on me. Josh helped to co-ordinate the issue with Mercedes and got it taken care of. It ended up taking longer than I originally anticipated. Still, They did not over charge me for this, instead gave me a discount for the delay. A/C works like a charm now. I m happy with the service despite the delay and the cost. Will definitely bring my car back here in the future.

Took my truck in to have tires done. Was told it would take an hour got to location at 4:30pm didn't leave until 7:30pm. Had yo ask what was taking so long. Service advisor told me tech was performing alignment i did not agree to or pay for this. On the drive home found my truck pulls to the right hard. Next day I got up for work found tires were flat. Inspected my tires and found my rims on my truck were damaged. Contacted store about this and it's not being taken serious. The rims on my truck were only a year old and never curbed scratched nothing and now the rims are bent and damaged. Tech admitted he damaged the rims he dropped my rims after the tires were off and bent and cracked my rims. Store manager and assistant store manger being unprofessional about this claiming the truck was damaged prior. I am waiting for pepboys corporate to contact me about the repairs.

I was on the Carlisle Pike and someone in the other lane notified me that my tire was going flat. SO thankful I was near Pepboys and was able to pull right now. Manager Jeff was extremely helpful and was able to get me into the garage that night. When I went to get into my car after the tire was patched my tire light was still on. Manager Jeff took the time to go around and check each tire to ensure they were all holding air. Great customer service! Extremely grateful for Pepboys service during a panicked time!

Buyers beware. These technicians will rush through their work and give your car back in a unsafe condition. In my case, one of my new tires was not fully installed and risked blowing off my wheel. At least 4 inches of the bead was not set and the shop refused to fix their mistake. I hadn't even left their parking lot after I got my car back and found the mistake. Immediately I knocked on their window and got the advisor's attention. She basically told me I had to do the repair myself as they were closing for the evening. The doors were already locked not even 5 minutes after I paid. I had to do the repair myself. Total B's in my book and I will not be returning to Pep Boys on Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg Pa.

Got my front exhaust y pipe replaced here 2 years ago. 1.5 years later it needs replaced already. And for extra fun, someone in their shop WELDED the nuts back on to the diaphragm. I’d give them negative 10 stars if I could. Stay as far away as possible from this place!!

First, I was given the incorrect price. Second, I was over charged for a product that I did not received. Third, they never call to tell me my car was ready and it stood there for 24 hours when they promise to give it back on the same day. Next, all they can do it’s give me the difference or change the tires to ones we payed for but that’s another inconvenience because we will have to drop off the car again. That’s more time and gas and inconvenience and hopefully my suvs doesn’t get damage for complaining.

As much as there are negative reviews out there, or misinformation, I'll keep it to my own experience here at this location with my 5 star review. I had ordered 4 new tires, and not only was it a quick appointment scheduled, but expert service to match. Prices are on point, and other than a hiccup with the tire pressure monitoring system, I have a nice smooth ride! Thanks to Scott and the staff @ the Carlisle pike Mechanicsburg location, I will keep my service needs in mind if I ever need to visit here again as they go the extra mile ??

Worst experience, ended up damaging my car. I had my car towed to this pep boys location because my battery was draining and not charging any more. I was told to buy a new battery and I paid 180$ for it to be replaced . They also tested my alternator and said there is nothing wrong with it . What they forget to mention before I left was that when they put back my alternator back they overtorqued the bottom screw and cracked the air pump/alternator bracket. 10 min into my drive I started hearing a very loud noise from the Engine and started feeling very strong vibrations. I stopped at the side of the interstate and was amazed to find the entire Alternator cracked and the lower bracket broken. Also from the Vibration a screw from the airpump was now missing . I had to pay 250$ to tow the car back home because I refuse to go back to this pep boys. On top of that they charged me for a voltage regulator that is already installed inside the alternator . And they try to charge me an additional hour of work to replace it... The woman who helped me has no idea what she is doing ... I will try to call 1800 pep boys to file a formal complaint and see if there is a way to get any of my parts replaced. They completely destroyed my car. And I am spending money on a rental car for work as of now
