Amazing place to take your musical instruments in for professional repair, quick turn around time and very knowledgeable staff. I'll definitely be returning in the future when my other instruments need work done. Thanks Inner Sound!

Bunch of con artists, liars, smooth operators, lie through their teeth, they had my McIntosh amplifier for three months charge me $600. They told me it was fixed. I brought it home hooked it up. Still one channel wasn’t working and I took it back second time they wanted more money to change more parts in it, this thing almost 90 pounds is very difficult to carry. They called me. They said they’re gonna require more money, I told him to stop it and went and picked it up. Recently, I found someone who works on McIntosh components simply it needed a relay cleanup. He had it for four days cost me $89. Very happy with the service. Do yourselves a FAVOR do not take anything to INNER SOUND They don’t know what the hell they’re doing, all they want is money..They suck money out of you till the end. They even charge me $80 to prioritize It so they look at it earlier They can’t fix anything. Very un knowledgeable Techs, who work there watch out for the front desk? They’re the ones who would lie to you, don’t get sucked in. I am a really pissed off customer or a victim I should say!

I recently got my Sansui 7070 back from being serviced at Inner Sound and I'm very happy with the results. I had them replace the main filter caps, change out a broken speaker selector switch, replace bulbs, and fix an issue on the power supply board. Lead time was long, but they were up front about this when I first called. Everyone was friendly and approachable. It wasn't exactly cheap, but this is a specialty service and I'm happy to pay to keep my amp running for many more years. Overall I'm thankful for the repair and feel fortunate to live less than 10 minutes from a reputable tech.

So awesome a shop like this still exists. Knowledgeable staff. Long wait times for deck servicing but that's cause they are kinda the only folks in town

I took my Mackie Thump 212 into Inner Sound for diag. It was about 18 months old, so out of warranty with Mackie. They diag'd a bad amp/ Mackie agreeed to cover the part even though it was out of warranty and I ate the labor rate of $125. I got it back in late March and it worked great the next 3 times I used it in May. I didn't turn it back on again until July and it once again was inop, demonstrating the exact same behavior... it would power on, but the lights were blinking and it omitted no sound. Mackie referred me back to Inner Sound. Inner Sound told me it would be $135 to diag since their warranty is 90 days and it had been about 5 months. I had used it 3 times. I expected more from them, some kind of consideration since it was the same problem in such a short time. Who knows, its possible it was a different issue or they missed something else with the initial diag. We could have taken it from there. All I got was "Just bring it in and pay the same fee as everyone else." Based on that I would not recommend them and will not use them in the future. I will look for someone who actually cares about their customers. I'm sure it doesn't matter to them as they have a back-log of work and one little customer can come or go.... they will be just fine.

Fantastic workmanship! My Yamaha keyboard required new contact strips installed. After picking it up and getting things set up and playing it, the touch response and action is like new again. A shout out to Mike and Bruce. These guys are technically brilliant.

I brought my marantz amplifier in to Inner Sound about six months ago. Mike told me it would take a few months to diagnose the problem. Then I got a phone call in January describing the fix and the cost. That was nearly two months ago by my reckoning. A month ago or so I called on a Friday and asked Mike how long it would be until it was fixed. He said there was a problem and promised he and the technician would call the following Monday. Neither called. Since then I have called twice and talked to Lloyd but nothing has happened. At this point, I do not know what I can do except warn others about this kind of merchant behavior. Maybe now I will get a call back. I will update this review once this problem is resolved or I drive to Portland to recover my amp. Update 4/21/2025 I talked to Mike, who is a world class chatter, and a nice man. It turns out the company that bought Marantz has shortchanged it and wrecked its reputation. The motherboard I needed to repair my receiver was simply not available. I think Inner Sound is one of the few stereo repair shops left, and I believe they do their best. Best to plan on more than a few months for any repair there when you don't know exactly what is needed to repair your device.

They talked us into spending nearly $800 to replace nearly all the caps in our Ampeg SVT, ($625 of which was labor alone) only to get it back with the same problems occurring. Tried following up to find a solution and never heard back. Huge waste of time and money…

Just an update - it's been a few more years using Innersound and they continue to provide excellent service at fair prices. Over the last 14 years, I've patronized Inner Sound with quite a few repairs and refurbishments. I've probably done a good 3-4 dozen transactions with them and have been happy with every single repair and interaction. I have always found them to be very friendly, reasonable in pricing, and high in quality of work. What more can I say? Well, I guess I'll say that I'd send any friend there. One important thing to note with some of the negative reviews is that some of them are not reasonable. Consider for example if some guy buys an audio component on craigslist for $50 then takes it to them and asks them to fix it up, then gets mad because there's a repair bill of $190 for 2 hours labor at $85/hour on it and $20 in parts. Inner Sound has to pay the cost of employee time to work on the component independent of how much the component is worth. They have to pay for their employee hourly wages, they have to pay for the taxes and insurance on the wages, they also have to pay for the rent and capitol for the tools. I'm guessing that when they charge people $85 per hour, it probably costs them on the order of $65-75 per hour to provide that service.

Thank you Mike and Lloyd for your honesty and integrity. I had taken my 30 year old Onkyo 6 Disk CD player in for repair but unfortunately repair could not be done due to discontinued parts availability. Lloyd explained to me in plain words what the issue was which was refreshing. I then was able to replace the Onkyo CD player with a Vintage Pioneer 6 Disk CD player that was pretty much identical and would fit nicely in my existing rack system. They had just put the Pioneer on the shelf for sale the day before I was there to settle payment on the Onkyo so when I asked about a replacement the timing could not have been better. We did not know the Onkyo CD player was having issues till my wife tried playing her favorite Christmas music last December. With the new player, this Christmas will be Happy wife Happy life. Thanks To Inner Sound!

Sadly I won't be returning to Inner Sound. It was a complete shambles from beginning to end. I dropped off my Denon DJ MC6000MK2 mixer on 11/1/2022. It was fully functional except for some moderate humming/feedback whenever I plugged it into my powered speakers. I tried several speakers, same result. I had been using it, but after the busy season ended I thought it was time to get it repaired hopefully to pick it up in Jan/Feb. I paid my $125 diagnostic fee and dropped off my system. Got a call in January telling me it was ready, picked it up took it home plugged it in same result, still feedback, nothing had changed.? Returned it to Inner Sound again. A week later got another call, it's ready. Went in again, this time before I left I asked to plug it into a speaker. We put it on the counter same result..nothing had changed. Still feedback. Not sure why I kept getting called to pick up my equipment.? Maybe check the equipment before calling..? After many phone calls over almost 18 months decided this repair was going nowhere. Apparently they were unable to find the required part. I picked it up on 2/2/2024. Obviously I had to buy a new system over this time and decided I could use my MC6000MK2 mixer as a back up. Got it home plugged it in and it didn't power up ..nothing. Called them spoke to Lloyd. Wasted 5 minutes on the phone and realised I wouldn't be getting any compensation. Thought the least they could do was return my equipment in the condition it was left. I started with a system that worked (not properly) and ended with a piece of garbage and $125 less in my wallet. I won't be using them again.

I brought my SX-750 to them for repair. The receiver would not power up and I kept losing a channel on the phono input. The techs repaired all my issues and it's a joy to listen to now. Keep in mind, this receiver is 50 yrs. old. and things can still happen due to the heat cycles and age of components in the design of this amp. Just saying, it's like my 55 yr. old motorcycle, things will need attention and PLEASE be PATIENT with them. They're that busy with customer's repairs these days. It's worth the wait.

Inner sound has performed warranty repair on my Yamaha A-S3000 due to shipment damage and an out of warranty repair on my A-S3200 that was caused by a toddler incident. These are higher end pieces. My gear came back to me in a timely fashion, was in pristine condition, and their communication was realistic and prompt. Their service is first class. Their prices are reasonable, you get what you pay for. Their service team is regarded in the audio community as some of the best in the country. The negative reviews I see here are absurd, it is not their fault they can't find repair parts for equipment whose manufacturer has been out of business for 50 years, and also not their fault some hack you had working on your gear on the cheap ruined it and they were unable to resolve. They will always be my first call for service.

I recently had my Sony K870ES cassette deck serviced at Inner Sound. These guys really know their hardware. They are very skilled. Needed a new belt and roller. My Sony sounds so damn good right now. If you don't mind several weeks repair window, and honestly it's no big deal at all, give these guys a call. Price for parts and repair was very reasonable. I'm so happy this store exists.

They are factory recommended, forthright about the time it will take to conduct repairs, and gentle in declaring a repair may not be possible. They seem to love the work they do and had a reference for older technology. I'm looking forward to a successful outcome of having my excellent receiver back in its place in my home theater system soon. Paul

Fantastic! I cannot recommend Inner Sound enough! These guys are amazing! I could not be happier with the service, the speed, the advice, the kindness, and the engineering. I had a difficult task to bring a 40 year old Mitsubishi Interplay x-10 stereo back to life. Boy, they sure nailed it! It sounds new, from the factory floor! Thank you Mike and team for getting this beauty working for us to enjoy for many years to come!

From the first step in the door, I was treated pleasantly! I came in with questions about repairs for a receiver and I felt Mike was very honest with me and explained in detail what steps I should take. No selling me a service, no bringing it in for this much just straightforward honesty. I was also inquiring about a turntable and he was very helpful as this is my first experience with such. We went over what I was looking for. No sales pressure whatsoever. He patiently spent time with me to go over every inch of the machine I thought was right for me and answered any questions I had. This place is an example of what service should be. Mike and his staff are the best! Two thumbs up for me!

Brought in an early 80s tape deck with an esoteric problem. They were honest with me about their likelihood of fixing it and didn't make me pay the $85 assessment fee to find out. After some deliberation, which they were courteous enough to wait for and add their opinion on, I walked out with one of their refurbished decks for a very fair price and it's been doing fantastically for me. They even took the busted deck off my hands so I didn't have to haul it to the electronics recycler. Just one word to the wise — their refurbished selection is relatively small and determined mostly by chance, so you should definitely call before making the trip if you're looking to buy any particular type of equipment. Do check a few times before you give up and look elsewhere, because something that they're out of on one day might still come in a couple weeks later.

They observe COVID19 mask rules, and arrange visits to provide everyone with equal and make time to address the concerns they have with their equipment. Friendly CR and professional attitude. Now we get to see how proficient they are with their expertise. ****UPDATE***** THE work performed on my (high end) stereo equipment was done flawlessly and my system now performs like new, sounds as good as ever and needless to say I'm very happy with the quality of the work at Inner Sound! I highly recommend these guys if you have valuable equipment that needs just the right touch!

Fantastic work. They were able to restore my 70's Pioneer back to its former glory. It took a little over 2 weeks, which is exactly the amount of time they estimated. Good work like this isn't cheap but they absolutely were transparent, gave a solid estimate, and stuck to it. They were able to fix the issues that other shops couldn't or didn't have time to. Super friendly staff willing to talk shop about classic gear. Highly impressed and will certainly be back with some other vintage gear. Their work was worth every penny. I saw some unique stuff in there, I'm sure they can fix most anything that makes noise. If they sold t-shirts, I'd definitely wear one and represent!

Very helpful staff and excellent collection of older audio electronic equipment, most in pretty great shape. Picked up a refurbished cassette deck for a good price, plus got a 90 day warranty with it. Edit: the left side of my tape deck I purchased from Inner Sound had a humming noise (although still worked), so since I was still under the warranty, I took it in and they gladly accepted it to be worked on. Since it was a previously purchased product, they said it would be a priority item. I’m very pleased with their customer service so far.

First off, I easily discerned by my phone conversation that Mike the owner really knows his business. Kenn his assistant impressed me as well. My Velodyne subwoofer suffered a major power surge and Mike quickly diagnosed the problem. They where quick to get the repair done A.S.A.P. !! They even gave me back the bad parts in a bag so I new I was getting new parts installed! Totally competent, Trust worthy, Very courteous, and Very good with communication. I will use them again. Highly Recommend !!!!

I had them repair a pair of tube amplifiers a few years back, worked fine for awhile, then they both developed problems a week after the warranty expired. I brought in a Adcom power amp that needed a board/resistor repair. They wanted over $500 for the repair! I had to send the amp out of state for the repair, cost $300 which included shipping.

I have a nice NAD Master Series processor that required warranty service for a bad analog board. After reading reviews on Google I was admittedly hesitant about using these guys but they were the only place around that were authorized to do the repair. First of all, when I dropped off the component, they listened to me, took down some detailed notes about the problem I was having and were up front that it would take 2 weeks to diagnose due to the backlog of equipment. Okay, I get it. They are busy, and so am I. 2 weeks isn't that bad. They said they would call back and I knew if I didn't hear from them that I should call. It only takes a minute to pick up the phone and they DO answer it. I picked it up after 2 weeks and they reported back they had indeed diagnosed the equipment and it needed a new Analog board. They had ordered it and it was en route as we spoke. I gave it another week and called them back and they reported the board had arrived and they'd be installing it and re-testing everything immediately afterward. The next day they called and let me know it was ready for pick up. I got it home and it works like new! Now, this is the modern business world. And sometimes we have to call, as customers, to get updates. It is the way it is. These guys do a ton of business. I had the pleasure of meeting owner in the parking lot on the way out and he couldn't have been nicer. In fact, everyone had a pleasant and helpful attitude. They answered the phone and gave out whatever information I was asking for. I don't know what else people expect here. I can imagine a lot of people bring in 1985 Sony receivers that just need tossed into the garbage can and expect InnerSound to rapidly fix them, as if the parts were even available. Most of the crappy reviews seem to be centered around people stuck in the middle ages expecting this vintage gear to just get fixed quickly and that isn't going to happen anywhere. These guys know their stuff, are just all around good guys, and care about the customer. What they can't do is the impossible and some of us need to temper our expectations, take a chill pill and step into the 21st century when it comes to audio equipment.

They did a great job for me. Didn't come out as I had hoped, cause I was really hoping the amp was fixable. It did take some time because of the need to order some parts for an amp made in the UK. Everything was in the time frame that I was given. Just turned out the cost to fix was more that the price of a new one in the same category. Also I was only charged the up-front fee even though they had already done some service work to try and get it to power up. If I ever need that type of service again I would go back.

I highly recommend Inner Sound. The technicians there are very professional; they stand by all of their repair work with a 90-day warranty. I was initially tentative about bringing my broken gear to Inner Sound because of some of the previous reviews. However, I was reassured by an employee of Guitar Center that they have been sending ALL of their repairs there for years. Well, it turns out that I'm very glad I listened to him because my experience at Inner Sound was FANTASTIC! They brought my old Mackie mixer back to life and for a very reasonable fee. I was willing to pay them even more (per the original estimate), but when it turned out that the extra work was unnecessary, they shortened the job and saved me some money instead. Great work for a great price!

I've been taking various pieces of equipment here for years and have had nothing but pleasant and honest service. Great service isn't free but with both my guitar amps and my old Marantz receiver the cost of repairs were reasonable and I never felt rushed to give them the go-ahead on a repair. Places like this aren't really around anymore, so I'm glad that they're still in business and would never hesitate to take equipment to Inner Sound in the future.
