What clients say about Governors Club in Chapel Hill (NC)

Golf was outstanding although fairways are still coming in. Greens roll fast and take some time to get used to and difficult to read. Overall experience was very good playing as a guest of a member. Highly recommend playing if you can, all three nines have a different feel. Club house under renovation but still very nice.

The course is absolutely gorgeous, even in the dead of January. This is truly a special place.

I didn’t play personally but my boyfriend did and he said that it was the most beautiful course he’s ever golfed (including Pinehurst). He said that the grounds were absolutely pristine and that the staff were overwhelmingly friendly. Highly recommend.

Wonderful community. Can’t wait to help my next client find a lovely house in this community.

We were not informed greens were punched, holes on greens were extremely big. Could not even make a 2ft put. Course is beautiful I must add, but it would have been nice to be informed of airaiding. $153 green fee waisted.

We had an absolutely awful experience here. We had a big south asian wedding at Governor's Club and the staff were incredibly rude and un-accomodating. A few days before our outdoor wedding we were told that we would be unable to have it outside even if we had a tent (which we already planned for) due to the ground being soggy. This is not something we were told when we had booked the venue at all. Staff were incredibly rude on the day of our event despite us having to change everything last minute due to their inability to communicate and accommodate our requests when we had originally booked the venue. In addition, multiple of our guests had money stolen from the rooms set up for bridesmaids, groomsmen in the facility. We were reassured about security when we booked the venue and told that there were cameras in place - this was not the case. Ultimately lost a few thousand dollars in cash money and possibly even more. Furthermore, many of the staff were rude to our guests. It is extremely disappointing as we had many issues to deal with after the wedding and our vision for our wedding was ruined. Do not trust the staff or manager here for ANY of your special events.

A great place for building friendships and dinning excellence. The staff are professional and feel like family.

Very nice venue - decorated well for the season, good food, many rooms of various sizes for rent. Note that you must be a member to reserve. I visited at night, so I didn't get to see the beautiful pond or greenways.

Gated golf community with all the extras. Luxury real estate living with an award winning course, club, tennis, gym and so much more. The community has single family & town homes options. Raw land is still available so you can build your dream home. Use @Bold Construction (located right across the street from the gate) or bring your own. Note-HOA fees do not cover golf membership

One of the best clubs around. Great environment, people, service, and food! The golf course is spectacular and play is always a challenge. For spectacular views you’ll find nowhere else in Chapel Hill, Durham, or the surrounding Triangle, play the Mountain 9, its an experience.

This place is top notch from top to bottom. Service is great, practice area is top, course is in very nice condition and having 3 nines gives lots of variety.

Planned late 1980s upscale, gated community on a small mountain left over from when this was the coastline of an ancient sea, as a breath taking view on the 3rd nine demonstrates. Large homes into 7 figures fill small lots with lovely views. The first and second nines of the Jack Nicklaus golf course are quite challenging, while the third nine on the mountain top is surprisingly fun for JK. The imposing clubhouse (top notch food service) with lake and course views exemplifies the nouveau riche vibe.

Great course. Perfect condition. Very challenging. Best nine's are Foothills and Mountain

Visiting for a wedding and went for a run this morning. As I was running ALONG THE ROAD back to the clubhouse, a woman driving by slows down, rolls down her window and yells out “don’t run on the golf course.” !!! I obviously thanked her for the advice, with some polite expletives for emphasis. Best part - not to be snobby - she was driving a Nissan Sentra! ???. Southern hospitality. ?

Governors Club has been a great experience for me on a number of occasions. I was considering joining a second country club in the winter of 2017 and the staff treated me very well. If all things have played out correctly, I would have joined. In fact, I may still consider it. The course offers three (3) 9 hole sides. The Mountain 9 is more of a betting/fun 9 with several downhill tee shots and second shots. There is a beautiful view from the 9th hole overlooking all of Chapel Hill and Jordan Lake. The Foothills and Lakes 9s are much more true golf. There are several demanding shots into greens and a number of challenging tee shots. Remember that this is a Jack Nicklaus course so you will need to be able to fade the ball. That said, if you can hit a controlled draw it will not hurt you. The greens are Championship Bermuda and roll very true. They are the second best Championship Bermuda greens I have played in the area. Only Hope Valley has better greens. If given the chance to play Governors Club, I would strongly suggest it.

Hands down one of the best country clubs ever. The staff go out of the way to make sure you are taken care of. The grounds are impeccable. If you have the opportunity to spend time here do not pass it up.

In terms of dining, the club offers you two unique dining experiences. You can either go the formal route and sit in the main room (no denim) or have a more casual dining experience at the bar. You can't really go wrong with either! Sports enthusiast? Then this place is for you! You have plenty of activities to keep you busy ranging from tennis to golf. If you happen to be around during the summer, the pool is open and offers you the choice to either swim casually or in the two available lap lanes.
