Every time I've been here in a year of clearing crates of miscellaneous stuff accummulated over 30 years of living in the same house, I've been helped by the courteous and proactive staff to sort the mess with a minimum of fuss, getting it disposed of very quickly. For a first-timer, the signage is not always clear (the facility's disposal sub-locations are regularly updated, which indicates to me that management is paying attention to incoming materials' volume and contents), but there is always help on hand, and the facility is spotless.
Friendly and helpful staff. Much easier process and cheaper compared to other landfills I’ve been to. Go here often with yard debris and will be dumping there today!
Had to take a few things here earlier today, including an empty aquarium. The worker who helped me was incredibly kind and helpful (I'm disabled and so needed some extra help with disposal of some things). Very much appreciate the workers here.
Never had a bad experience here. You need to be honest about what you know and don't know. They'll help you put things in the right location which at the end of the day is what we all want to achieve. Work together for the greater good.
I flew down to NC from MA to help my parents get ready to move and went to the Eubanks Road Center. The staff were so nice, even though I made several mistakes. They were helpful and friendly. I wish my dump in MA was as nice as this one!
My husband and I have been cleaning out areas around our property. When we have taken these to the recycling center on Eubanks Rd., we have been welcomed by the employees and treated in a very friendly and courteous way, helping us to get our things in the right Bins. I am so grateful to Mr. Odom and the other employees there for helping us make this process easier. It is neat organized and i no longer fear flat tires going there. THANK YOU!
My wife and I have both had great experiences at this facility. They accept a broad range of items, and the staff is incredibly helpful. Highly recommend!
I am really surprised by the number of negative reviews on the facility. I have been all around the country and the breadth of materials accepted at this single recycling center is great. I am sure there is room for improvement, but I’m glad we have this resource available to us. With regards to staffing, the vast majority of my interactions have been positive. If you have any questions about where an item should go, just proactively ask one of the staff, and I’m sure they will be more than happy enough to assist you.
Went to dispose of motor oil and antifreeze today but ended up first in the landfill by mistake and tried to ask the worker at the electronic scale but he seemed to be having a bad day and clearly did not want any interaction with me - it would be good to see if he is okay. Nonetheless another worker passed by and was very kind and redirected + escorted me to the right place which was just 100 feet further down the main road. Easy in, easy out. Came in with 2 gallons of old oil and 8 gallons of antifreeze mixed with DI water which I could easily dispose of in the designated containers. Everyone was great overall.

The management by a dedicated group of seniors indicates a strong community involvement, although their strict enforcement methods may be intimidating. It's clear that while the system aims to encourage proper recycling habits, it also presents challenges that could deter people from participating.
This is a great public service for the citizens of orange country. It's free, y'all, quit griping about it. If workers tell you you're doing it wrong, it's because you are.
A maze with poor (nonexistent) signage and incredibly rude staff. Don’t want people driving around confused? Try putting some signs up and/or having staff present where visible to answer questions
Excellent facility. Easy and quick drop off of household garbage and recycling plastics and cardboard. Orange county residents can drop off hazardous waste, such as paint cans. Everyone there is courteous, friendly, and knows where you put what.
The guys at the Eubanks Road Solid Waste Convenience Center are always courteous and helpful when I have a question for them. I have not experienced rudeness as some others on here have posted. If you take a moment to greet them each time you go, they soon recognize you and greet you in return. I think they do a great job, considering the extreme temperatures they work in and the smell, as well as dealing with patrons who get angry at them just for doing their job.
Workers here are rude. Instead of doing their job and helping you, they just hover around you and get angry if you don't put an item in the right bin or whatnot. If you don't like your job, find another one. Don't make the experience miserable for us taxpayers. Only added the extra star for convenience.
Bunch of lazy guys just sitting around getting paid doing nothing here. Most likely cursing and making fun of people who comes there to recycle. You can easily tell they don’t care even a bit about environment or recycling due to their most likely ideology.
They didn’t let me leave a never used outdoor cat house (worth $100) at donation shed just because it had one of the wood siding was popped out probably while I was trying load in the car and told me rudely to throw in dumpster. I fixed it in five seconds and donated to Goodwill instead.
Orange county recycling broke my recycling container over two weeks ago and I called at least two times over that period and was told they would replace my container. it has been at the end of my driveway since then. their response is very lacking.
This recycling program is a joke. “Goal of improving the overall quality and quantity of recyclables collected from households around the County”, but your program does not take any “soft plastics” which is basically the majority of plastics that enter any household- tape on boxes, packing materials in shipping boxes, plastic bags, plastic cups and straws, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, k-cups- none of these are allowed. I’m not even talking about hazardous waste, like batteries and electronics.
What is the purpose of a recycling program that basically only extends to non coated cardboard boxes, bottles, and cans, when you are doing almost nothing about the majority of household plastics that enter the environment? “Save the planet” is nothing but a tagline here.
If you make it painful to use your service, people just won’t. These items will just go in our trash cans and end up in the environment, so how are you actually effectively saving the planet? If your facility isn’t equipped for these items, then for the taxes we pay, you need an upgrade.
The Chapel Hill solid waste facility on Eubanks Rd is fantastic. Well organized, clean, courteous folks. After getting accustomed to the hours of operation, it is a great utility for the community.
If only I could give it a zero. They are absolutely useless. Seem to barely pick it up half the time Will gladly write you a note rather than scooting over your trash the extra 0.5 foot if they feel it's too close. And don't call and complain or their supervisor will hang up on you even if you're being civil. Charming people.
