We went on Sat 10/4/2025 and the entrance to the store was locked. I don’t know if they have changed their hours or what. We were there around 1pm when they should have been open.

For donations, use the entrance further east (pictured below). The elevator is located here. The west entrance involves three steep flights of stairs. Great staff, well organized!

I went to a register with an item that was already tagged. The woman at the register after stashing a bag that she was going to purchase for herself under the register, since tomorrow it's a 50% off sale. And I needed to wait for her to change the price. She added $20 to the ticket price! It's sad because I usually tried to support this location to their causes.

It's grungy. It's as organized as it can be, but it's one of my favorite places to go and hunt for fun finds in the city... I come for the glassware haha

The cashier Henry was so friendly and helpful. Not just to me but to everyone who walked in the store. I would come back again just for that. Thank you! : )

Asked about donations, and.they said.bring them in. Unfortunately, when I went.back around 4pm the.donations doors were.closed. Can't find what hours donations are accepted, but certainly not until 7pm as listed for open. I wish donations hours were posted - especially when the doors are.closed early.

Came to check out the book selection on a Wednesday. Store was quiet and staff was kind. Scored a couple nice 1960's cookbooks as a result.

I went to the store today 2d floor. The clerk 08 was very cold to us customers. She express “I don’t want to be here”. I was afraid to ask question. Her look was like she was looking at her worse enemy. I also went to the 3D floor. The lady on the cashier was so smiling. Sweet. Communicative. She looked happy.

Leave yourself a couple of hours to make the most of your trip as the clothing is rummage (nothing is in size order), there really are some amazing finds - I found a pair of brand new Levi's for $14.99!! Some good brands and being a curvier woman, plenty of size 16+, which is a rarity in thrift stores in the UK! It's absolutely worth checking out if you love thrift shopping!!

They have some awesome awesome stuff here that's not even close to being to "expensive" to afford. Everything aside from furniture is basically under $40 and most things don't even go above 10. And they really do their best to sort out the donations to things you'll actually want to buy, it's amazing.

Hours are incorrect. I came to drop off clothes when the hours showed the store was open, hours before closing, and the place was closed. I walked inside to find a not only that but I was quickly SURROUNDED by people waiting outside to grab donations before they were donated. A fight almost broke out. UPDATE YOUR HOURS. This happened to a friend of mine too (place being closed in the middle of the day) and it makes me hesitant to donate at this location ever again. So sad.

Salvation Army? What a disappointment. The workers there seemed completely uninterested in their jobs. I brought in some furniture that we no longer needed because we were moving out of state. The furniture was practically new, only used for about 1-2 years. We had to disassemble it and carry it all the way there since they don't offer donation pickups. When we arrived, the workers were rude, dismissing our items as trash. They didn't offer any help with unloading and simply pointed out where we should leave everything. I wanted to do something good by donating, but the experience was nothing but stressful.

Really disappointing selection of clothes and shoes, and the prices on a lot of the pieces are high for no name brand clothes. The other SA locations have a much better selection of clothes, in my opinion, especially the store on lower 8th Avenue.

This review is mostly for tourists as most locals know already: Prices are a much higher than you might expect for things like wall art. They have some items that are high value priced far too low and some low value items priced far too high. Not much of a precise rhyme or reason for the pricing as is the case in many second hand shops. That's part of the fun in going to places like this, right? Books are always great value here though. I found a first edition Harry Potter Philosopher's Stone in mint condition and several early print Tolstoy novels in okay shape for a dollar I think? Maybe less. It is a Salvation Army Store so don't go there expecting a trendy second hand shop. Not a super clean place like a boutique "thrift" shop would be but certainly not dirty or anything of the sort. The staff are polite and helpful but again...don't expect a boutique experience in customer service either and for a multi-story large store ( different departments[housing, clothing, furniture, etc.] on different floors) it can still be a little crowded or at least it was when I stopped in. Most of my fellow customers were tourists, locals from the neighborhood, a few boutique buyers on the hunt for stuff to resale at their shops, and most notably a group of 20 or so well meaning but rather frustrating ( to the staff at least, lol) immigrants that were trying to ( quite smoothly I might add) barter the prices lower in what I think was Portuguese? I don't know what language and neither did the store staff, lol. Lord have mercy on them because it was a situation worthy of an SNL skit. Ha! A lot of smiles around the room watching that mess go down. SO there you have it, like everywhere in NYC the rich and poor and middleclass all live and shop at the same places sometimes, The Salvation Army Store is one of those places. Anyway, I hope this helps any tourists coming to the city that were curious about the shop. Have fun and enjoy the city!

I love this Salvation Army store right in the heart of Manhattan. First: when you shop or drop donations here you are helping men and women recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. And that is a good thing. I donate goods here, glad to help folks in recovery and contribute to saving things from landfills. The staff in the drop off area are friendly, taking my bags from me and offering me a receipt. I also shop here. As an eBay seller and selling coach, thrift store like this are a great way to support non-profits and find items to resell online. When you get to the top floor where clothing is- always note what colors are on sale. I take a picture with my phone. Typically Wednesday is Family Day when most of the merchandise is half off. Note: with NYC bag rules, bring your own bags. There are SA branded shopping bags for sale for $2 when I was there last.

This is a review for a donation drop off. I was skeptical and almost drove all the way to the Bronx. Staff were super nice and helped me unload and carry my donations. I had 2 big cartons of products and a very large laundry bag of clothing. I drove right up to the open door driveway of an old fire engine garage at this Salvation Army location early on Saturday morning before too much traffic (10:10 am). Many services that pick up unwanted merchandise charge for this service! I suppose you can request a receipt but I didn't as I rarely am able to claim this on taxes. Happy my old stuff can be reused by others.

Furniture is not much but the clothes are a lot. Most of them are for women few for mens.

I'm sure you can still find lots of great items here, at great prices. They are cheaper than Goodwill. But, long gone are the days of weekend coat sales and amazing furniture deals. The furniture floor that used to have wall-to-wall sofas had exactly 2 on my last visit. It consistently looks sparse and picked-over. Skip that floor and head up to clothing where they still have a decent amount of inventory.

One of the larger thrift stores we found in NYC. You have to walk up a few flights of stairs to get to the next floor.

I visited the SA shop on Monday, December 5, 2022. They have a large variety of items. Paperback books are .99 cents and hard cover are $1.99. Larger books may go for a little more. Prices on purses, furniture and books are reasonable or very inexpensive. There are other items, such as clothing, footwear, cds and jewelry, but I didn't check those. Workers were pleasant and helpful. One bathroom works and is clean, but didn't have toilet paper. Bring tissues in case they run out like they did today. There was soap, but no paper towels. There's a lot to look through, especially clothing and books, so come when you're not in a hurry; you may find some treasures!

Love the drawings in the stairwell, so cute and funny. Was a little disappointed that, compared to last year, there was hardly any selection for men's clothing. But I found a couple of brand new, super cool and stylish thermoses for my daughter to use for school as well as some cute leggings. Always enjoy going to this thrift store.

I laughed at the prices. Frames were higher than Michael’s! $20 for a banged up frame. $10 for a “Wharton University class of 2021” frame. Come on. Who’s going to buy that? Selection was just ok. They really didn’t have as much stuff as I had hoped.

I would like to say that my experience at this salvation army was great. The manager Bridgette assisted me with all my shopping needs. There are many things to choose from lots of items with space to look around. Beautiful household items too. The entire staff were friendly which made my shopping enjoyable. Thank you Bridgette and your entire staff I will definitely visit again.

This is not a thrift store anymore. I’m not sure who’s in charge of this place but it’s become a waste of time since Maria left management two years ago. Whomever is doing pricing now needs a reality check. I’ve found countless cases where they charge more than what you’d pay for the item BRAND-NEW in the actual place it was originally sold. Three years ago i gave 5 stars and I wrote: “Great place - great deals. People with some extreme capital donate here. Staff price to liquidate - like this West elm couch for $49 dollars.” Unfortunately this place has gone very far south in service and too north in price since then.

Very well organized, almost friendly staffs. I went to check on some vintage furniture for restoration. Quality of items are pretty bad. Back in 2007, items from donations are over the top qualities. Now people’s living standards have eroded and used items are absolutely worn out and cheap ones. I even found some cloths from H&M and Walmart there at this thrift store. But yes this location was the best

I've never been here to shop in the store, but I have donated items here. I love the work that the Salvation Army does because so many things are wasted unnecessarily! Donating items is a pain-free process and the store is easily accessible. The people I've encountered here are super nice and helpful. On my first visit, the man on duty even helped me carry the bags from my car, into the facility. They are also open from 730 am until 7pm most days.
