Interesting how this Whole Foods has responded to all of the "positive" reviews this week, but has ignored a complaint my friend posted last week (sort by "newest" and scroll down) about a racist experience he had in this Hudson Yards location. Maybe to try to bury it so no one sees it. But we SEE you, Whole Foods!

I went to this Whole Foods on Wednesday around 3:45pm to buy collagen powder. I was standing in the health/wellness aisle reading labels and taking my time, like anyone does when they’re trying to make the right purchase.
After a few minutes, a security guard came over and stood there watching me. He stayed there for several minutes. As a Black man, it’s hard not to see this for what it was. I don’t believe this would’ve happened if I were white.
I didn’t confront him. Instead, I went to customer service. They spoke to him and told me he apologized and that it wouldn’t happen again. I appreciated that but the damage was already done.
It’s exhausting to feel like you’re being treated as “suspicious” just for browsing. I went straight to checkout and bought the $40 product I came in for. I wasn’t doing anything wrong. I was just shopping.
I’m sharing this because no one should feel anxious, embarrassed, or singled out in a place they’re spending their money. This experience hurt, and it shouldn’t happen to anyone.Feb 06, 2026 -
The checkout guy (older white gentleman) was rude to me and took another customer ahead of me even though I was at the front of the line. When I tried to clarify that I was next, he just ignored me and pointed up at the screen that signaled when the next checkout would be available. The other customer (also an old dude) was very happy to skip ahead of me. I guess the usual rules of human decency don’t really apply at this particular WF.

I got 4 items here, 2 were molded and one made me so sick that i threw up horribly immediately after eating it. FYI it was the muffins, barbecue chicken wings, and some Asian green curry frozen meal. I suggest you inspect your food. Instead of throwing away rotten food they mark it down

Clean, organized and spacious. Employees don't chit chat or talk too loudly like at other stores. This wholefoods should be made an example for all grocery stores.

Be careful with the meat you ate buying there! Not fresh at all, it seemed like the use some product to make it look red, also I just bought a vacuum-packed chicken had a damaged seal, but I only noticed when I got home.

Unacceptable Experience – Found a Worm in My Salad
I’ve always trusted Whole Foods for quality and cleanliness, but this experience was beyond disappointing. I purchased a salad from the salad bar and discovered a worm in my food. This is absolutely unacceptable for any establishment, especially one that promotes such high standards and premium pricing.
Food safety and hygiene should never be compromised. It’s unsettling to think this could happen, and it makes me question the store’s food handling and inspection procedures. I hope Whole Foods takes immediate action to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.Oct 24, 2025 -
Terrible store design overall. Also, app grocery pickup needs to be done from the back of the store, even though the shelves with the ready orders are in the front of the store! You have to go to the back and then wait for someone to retrieve them from the front. Makes a 1 min trip take 10 mins, and is more work for the employees too. Makes no sense!

Fresh Salad Bar and Hot Foods to go.
I really enjoyed the big selections of fresh salad and hot roast chickens that came as a whole one or 1/2.
There was ready to eat macaroni cheese.
Hot chicken bites with chilli sauce.
Chicken wings, potato wedges, Chicken thigh pieces, cooked vegetables all very nice.
We had sushi on other days to try as much foods as possible!
There is just so much more…Sep 12, 2025 -
I am extremely disturbed by the treatment I received at Whole Foods, 450 W 33rd St, New York, NY 10001. Upon entering the store, I was immediately followed by a security guard solely because I am a Black man. This is blatant racial profiling and completely unacceptable. He did not follow any other shoppers, which makes it clear that his actions were based entirely on my skin color.
When I addressed his behavior, he responded with aggression rather than professionalism. This is not only embarrassing and discriminatory but also deeply concerning from a safety and ethical standpoint.
For identification: the security guard is a young Black male in his 20s, approximately 5’7”, with an afro and glasses. His behavior demonstrates a serious lack of judgment and training. I strongly urge Whole Foods to take immediate action. This type of conduct should result in disciplinary action, up to termination, and the store must implement measures to prevent racial profiling in the future.
I will never return to this location, and I am appalled that a company of this size allows such behavior. Whole Foods must be held accountable for fostering an environment where customers are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of race.Sep 06, 2025 -
Perfect, to say the least. This Whole Foods Market is amazing. It's huge on the inside. It's an opportunity for folks to sit and grab breakfast, coffee, do a little work from the cyber cafe. The self-check out was fast and easy. However, they have a very attentive attendant to ensure efficiency.

Dear Whole Foods Team,
I’d like to share some honest feedback based on several recent visits to your stores — particularly the Hudson Yards and Times Square locations.
Over the past week, I’ve experienced multiple frustrating situations that made my shopping feel more stressful than enjoyable. One incident happened yesterday: I stopped by to quickly pick up some bread and mandarins. While slicing the bread — which requires both hands — I placed my coffee and the mandarins just to the side for no more than 2–3 minutes. When I turned around, I was shocked to see that a Whole Foods employee had taken the mandarins and poured out my coffee. This wasn’t an accident — he deliberately removed both items. When I asked what happened, he simply said “sorry,” but I was left without the drink I paid for and honestly felt disrespected.
This experience reflects a pattern I’ve noticed at both stores: staff often seem disengaged, chatting among themselves, and not paying attention to customers who are waiting at self-checkout. Even when multiple machines are available, no one steps in to guide people. It creates unnecessary confusion and delays.
At the Times Square location especially, I’ve had repeated issues with self-checkout scanners not recognizing items brought from the second floor. More than once, I was told to go back upstairs to get another one — even when I had a full cart. That kind of response feels dismissive and unhelpful.May 29, 2025 -

Discovered so many new protein bars in this Whole Foods in New York. So many products that aren’t available in Canada. Always fun wandering through and seeing all the great products that the US stores have.

Great spot for hot food and prepared food. Drinks and dessert too!
We got a pizza at Hot Slice, $21 for a large pie with ham and fig. Really good!
Don't need to pay $$$$ in NYC for food.Dec 29, 2024 -
Perfection of a grocery store-restaurant hybrid concept.
Ultramodern indoor & outdoor doors dining areas with inspiring views.
Steps away from the High Line, Mall & much more.
5 stars for the helpful & courteous staff.
Must be a Flagship location.?
INCREDIBLE SELECTIONNov 20, 2024 -
I’m a big fan of Whole Foods. But today’s experience just ratcheted it up a notch!. Is that even possible?
For lunch, I usually get the market table special with 2 sides. But today I saw 2 people getting the new STIR FRY.
It intrigued me cause it was made to order. I gave it a try and KABOOM . The beef was texturized like filet mignon. The flavors erupted like a volcano in Mt. Etna.
$13? Quality meal fit for a Prince. 2 lbs of food is sufficient for a famished cyclist .
The chef made it look like a Hibachi Grill. I was told this is the only location in Manhattan that offers STIR FRY.
$13 is ludicrous because I would have to pay $30 for this elsewhere.

One of the nicest Whole Foods stores I’ve been in. I stopped in here when I was meeting my son for lunch at one Manhattan West. I thought it was a small store, but it just keeps going and going this store is big. It’s beautiful. Has everything you need a full sushi bar, premade sandwiches, a sandwich counter, a hot bar and plenty of seating in case you want to eat lunch in the store. Such a great experience.

Why is a half rotisserie chicken the same price as a whole chicken, and why are dogs always in the store when the sign says no dogs allowed? Especially when you have awesome security guards all over the store. Life is a mystery.

Nice new wholefoods with a food market too.
There are checkouts downstairs which are much quicker when it's busy.
There is an elevator by the door on 10th avenue.
Peak times are Sunday night, Monday night.
Flowers are by the Manhattan west entrance.Nov 07, 2023 -
This whole foods market is huge, thousands of product, verity of fish, meats , groceries. It's fresh cooked ready to eat food sanction is rich and plenty of different kind of food available. Rice is comparatively high, but considering the location, it's tolerable. Product quality high. It is by 1 and 2 Manhattan West, so, good tourist place too.

If you’re a budget conscious consumer than this is not the place for you. To put it quite frankly unless you gross over $200K yearly or more this isn’t the grocery store for you. However, if you happen to be lucky enough to happen inside this store it’ll seem like you’ve been transported to a utopia in the near future. The exterior and entrance of this Whole Foods consists of a pedestrian walkway utilizing green infrastructure and it is almost idyllic. Fell in love quite quickly.

We found this Whole Foods location after visiting The Vessel at Hudson Yards and trying out the deli section.
The food was of satisfactory quality and reasonably priced.
The market is well organized and offers a wide variety of local beers.Apr 21, 2022 -
A big and bright grocery store. The store is well stocked and well organized. There is a large selection of fresh produce. A lot of healthy options. The employee at the cash counter was friendly.

Update: No changes. Checkout continues to be unsafe.
West checkout needs to be redesigned. Too small, understaffed, self checkout counters too close to each other. At least every other counter needs to be closed for safe distance. Customers on top of each other. Line needs to be controlled for distancing. Felt extremely unsafe.Oct 25, 2020 -
I like the layout of the store. It still feels new and fresh. I was pleased with the vegan selections. It’s nice to see the sunlight when shopping for groceries in my opinion. The far west side location means less shoppers and no long lines. The Hudson Yards Mall was not allowed to open when I visited Whole Foods. So I had to walk around the mall instead of taking the shortcut through the mall to reach the store for now.

Immaculate “Manhattan West” location next to Hudson Yards, with a thoughtful layout and a great selection of all the things you can expect from
Whole Foods and more. What makes this location extra special are the speciality sections around each corner such as an acai bar, a beautiful plant section, coffee area with ample seating, a matchaful tea/coffee/ice cream stand, a gorgeous produce area, the hot food bar, amazon lockers, vertical farming, and a nice dining area. There’s also an easy self checkout area to minimize the pain of having to wait in long lines when you just have a few items you want to grab and go. The best Whole Foods in Manhattan, so far.Aug 10, 2020
