What clients say about Barnes & Noble in New York (NY)

Now that the norm is buying everything online, it feels good to have a place where you can just stroll through the isles until you find the book that speaks to you.

Beautiful location and lovely little escape from the chaos of New York City, complete with cafe and that classic Barnes & Noble architecture. Huge selection as well

This Barnes and Noble is great! The cafe has lots of seating, and they recently added MORE outlets (very exciting), making it a great place to study/work. Great selection of books and other goods as well. They get docked 1 star because the bathrooms are locked and require a receipt code to enter - a new policy in the last year or so. This area desperately needs more public restrooms, and it's hard when you're there to browse the books because you can't use the restroom until after you've purchased something.

We had a great time there as a family spent with many great books and its kids-friendly atmosphere! Always a great spot to come back again!

The Barnes & Nobles on Broadway between 83rd and 84th Streets is so welcoming and well designed that this is excellent evidence why the bookstore chain has been growing and expanding. Besides for their selection of wonderful selection of both new nonfiction and fiction books, they have great games, puzzles as well as an entire balcony of greeting cards and other gift related items.

I was overjoyed to visit my beloved Barnes & Noble! With the loss of so many bookstores in NYC, including my own family's 50+ year old bookstore, it was a welcome site! Great staff, a good choice of books, games, puzzles and novelty items and an overall friendly atmosphere.

You have to pay for the restroom. So I bought my stuff, received my code and entered a very dirty bathroom. It is nice to have a bookstore in the neighborhood but if it is going yo be like this well I wouldn’t mind it going away.

The attitude of the guy with the Afro at the cafe was horrendous, never seen such a bad customer service. He yelled at me when I requested an iced drink 12oz telling me, SMALL, MEDIUM OR LARGE????- with such a bad attitude when the small size is 12oz, kept asking me to repite my order with a nasty face (when I asked for something on the menu) you guys can do better, never coming back.

I’ve been going to B&N for decades. I’ve seen their changes, watched them battle the rise of on-line sellers, nearly disappear, and the return. I’m really happy that they made it through some tough spots. This particular location went through a reno a few years ago. Well curated displays, and staff are knowledgeable and care about books and reading. Although I still buy a lot of books online just because of price and convenience, I appreciate B&N and always get something when I stop by.

The UWS Barnes and Noble. It is what you’d expect, and it’s also awesome. If you love books, or want to get into reading again, just go here and walk around

I love this place! They have an enormous selection of books, everything is perfectly organized, and the staff is always there to help. My only negative note would be the cafe. I do like it, but at certain times, it's impossible to get a table. Even though there's a sign asking people not to linger too long, I get the feeling some folks spend hours and hours without moving, which makes it really hard to find a seat.

This barnes and nobles is awesome! I’ve been going here since childhood back when they had that small area for children to read. Sad it’s gone but the renovations are even better! There’s so much space for more books and the cafe is awesome. The staff are very kind and helpful and I find so much lovely stuff here. Some books, sketchbooks, and some stuffed animals that my mom insists i don’t need (i need them! i swear! ) But overall, this is a great bookstore and I go here as often as I can!

The staff was unbelievably so helpful I was trying to find a book that would help my daughter understand separation and divorce

Barnes and No Le is great for its consistency from location to location and its unique store designs. No two are the same, but they all offer a core circulation of books for all ages and stationery from their sister store, Paper source. The cafe and rewards programs put B&N over the top of competitors.

Great experience, 3 floors of good reads and some merch for big franchises like Harry Potter. Definetly recommend to visit if you're in the area and like books.

Beautiful store. Two spotlessly clean floors, with escalator or elevator up. Sit on the floor and read for hours; no one will object. Walk around to the dozens of sections and you can literally get lost. Thousands of books. Cafeteria with seating, and clean bathrooms available. Place has been here for many years, and hopefully for many years to come.

Loved this place. A full of nostalgia. I came here almost after 12 years. Before Amazon it used to be go to place to buy books. I really loved that they’re still maintaining this place. I felt like the reflections of life before everything was accessible in internet.

Classic bookstore on the Upper West Side. Good selection of books in every category. I found what I was looking for. They have a small cafe in the second floor (left side). They are undergoing some constructions on the first floor but do not interfere the please of sitting on a chair and read one of their books in the quiet space of the second floor. The staff was friendly. Highly recommend!

An upper west side staple. Great selection of books and small gifts. Staff is always helpful and courteous. They have a small Starbucks cafe hidden on the second floor.

Very quiet and spacious, it’s my first time visiting this store and it’s quite different compared to the one on 5th Avenue. There wasn’t really much help by the staff trying to find particular titles. Maria C was very pleasant, while she was finalizing my transaction.

One of a dying breed. Love barnes and noble before they shut down. This is one of the few to keep the memory alive. The place was clean, plenty of areas to sit and packed with great reads. Loved the seat by the windows to read with a view of nature. Definitely a spot for creativity.

I absolutely love Barnes and Noble. They have so many cool things, and so many books, in a warm atmosphere. Some stores even have a coffee shop. The bathrooms are not always the best, but that's because people use them irresponsibly and make a mess, while also using them when not purchasing anything. They have elevators in case you are in a wheelchair and need them. Very quirky stuff and cool totes, planners and cozy reading socks.

Again, love bookstores, cafes, libraries and museums. And NYC, Is a truly wonderful cultural center for all of them. We are so extremely fortunate, to have grown up in this labyrinth reservoir of knowledge. This is another one of my favorite Barnes & Nobles, l completely agree with the other reviewer, who said "this place is huge ". And I also have great appreciation, for the multiple-level high arches ceiling architecture. Reminiscent of an ancient mountain monastery, contemplation repository for absolute knowledge, enlightenment. And the cafe, is a cozy enchanting enclave of an enclosure, secretly hidden, just below the mezzanine level. Again the staff, for their tremendous guidance, is truly exceptional What's not to love/please like
