I shop at other Morton Williams but this location at 72nd and third has the best selection and neatest presentation at the roll, bagel, danish showcase. A young lady who wears braces I see setting up the showcase does a great job. I live on 65th street closest to the 63rd street 3rd ave store and close to the 56th street 1st avenue store but I walk up to 72nd and 3rd for the full selection and nice presentation.
Is cashier lady with pink glasses okay? She didnt want return to me my item that i purchased and left in the bag by accident.. btw she saw me putting in the bag.. she told me she threw it away, i can see it was behind her. Was too exhausted to even explain that it is insane behavior. Long story short i forgot my pin code because i have been working a lot and tired but i didnt have any other card so i decided to go back to the store once i am back in my apartment which is two minute walk .. i left the chocolate that i bought at hmart in that bag when i realized that (which happened literally two minutes later) That incompetent and rude lady said she threw it away while I can see it is behind her.
I bought this pie last night. Today I opened it and cut a piece when I realize it was rotten already have mold as you can see at the first pic. How can’t you check your products!
Love that place, it’s a bit pricey but the products are really high quality. They sell quite a few French cookies like Palets from Mont St-Michel, madeleines, Paille d’Or from LU, Barquettes from LU, and more.
Got chased down the street and was accused of stealing some sponges. When I tried to find the receipt, he told me he could just look at the barcode and tell. I went back into the store and they don’t even sell the product I was accused of stealing.
I also did not get an apology or a have a nice day or anything.
Edit: went back again only because I had to, and after seeing the look on the face of most of the staff and the layout, I left thinking again “what a miserable place this is”
Check your receipts carefully before you leave. Often they’ll charge you more than what’s advertised on the sticker label. The only reason I end up here is if I need something in a pinch at weird hours. Otherwise, I gladly make the trek elsewhere.
Nice store easy to get around and find things. They don't have a big selection on things but they have what you need. Prices are not totally outrageous for new york All the prepared foods and cakes are very high. They stay open until midnight, which is good if you're a late night person. Staff are usually younger kids sort of Look at you with a blank stare, Maybe its just because it's so late at night when I go in there. Good chain, look out for good meat and ice cream Sales.
I don’t like to be a negative Nancy but this store is highway robbery. 10-12 dollars for a microwave meal. 6.99 dollars for half dozen eggs. Not a dozen! Six eggs! For 7 dollars! On top of that the self checkout machines will implode if you so much as look at them the wrong way. I only come here if I’m desperate and tired.
Today my daughter was accused of stealing and humiliated in this store! I will not shop here anymore! She also showed her receipt after being yelled at by a worker! I am completely disgusted!
They advertise one price on the shelves and charge you a different price at checkout. Ice cream labeled $2.99 is charged for $9.79. Rice labeled $7.99 is charged for $13.49. It’s an unethical and illegal business practice.
They are truly the feel of the last of the REAL small hometown stores with all the benefits of a huge store.

If they don't have what you need [ that's doubtful] but if they don't just ask them and they will order it for you.

There is another Morton Williams to blocks away on 1st avenue and 72nd Street this is the newer of the two and moved into the retail space that used to house one of the talbots women clothing store in the city. I do think the selection here is better than the one on 1st avenue and it's not as crowded.
Nice marketplace with a wide selection of fresh and international foods. They have an excellent array of bakery items, sweets, and hot/cold food bars. I have generally enjoyed shopping here.
What I don’t enjoy is being treated poorly by staff. They’re generally cold towards customers but the cashier was blatantly racist towards me and my boyfriend during our most recent visit. She was fine, nice even, towards everyone else but the second a white couple approached her, her demeanor completely changed.
We placed our basket on top of the conveyor belt since there wasn’t much room and she refused to say a word or even make eye contact with us. Just stared at our basket until I started handing things to her.
We mentioned we needed to purchase bags and she completely ignored us, carelessly and almost aggressively piling our expensive groceries to the side and crushing the more delicate items. We asked for bags again and she finally handed some over. I was appalled at how unfriendly and rude she was for absolutely no reason.
I’m so turned off by this experience that I’m considering not returning. No one wants to shop at a store where the staff are so bitter and hateful.
Could be better stocked and raising prices weekly is crazy. I can go to
A Matter of Health and purchase same items for $2-$3 less I am sure they do less volume than Morton Williams .
I have been shopping in that market for a while but lately I have been getting bad service and a terrible attitude from the employe behind the counter. It’s a shame. I am not going to shop there anymore. For the prices in the market they should send the employees for training.
I did complain to the manger and he apologized but its not enough. I am going to shop at others supermarket . Shame on you Morton supermarket.
I love visiting for my lunch break at work. They always have the best selection of pre-packaged meals and pre-cooked food. The salad bar is always so clean and well-stocked. I'm always impressed by the constant restocking of food and cleanliness of the entire store!
Good afternoon I would go into Morton William supermarket at least 2 times a week _prices are a little too much on some items,reasonable on others hardly ever buy..overall fresh and sweet ..friendly staff ready to assist
Literally the most beautiful and meticulously arranged supermarket in the world. The shelves are so satisfying to look at, all the labels face out neatly. The signs are artistic. The escalator bank is moody. We frequent other Mortons and this one is by far the most cared for. Someone has a serious eye for design here and executes on it perfectly. Take a look!
I got food from their salad bar and returned to my office. As I was eating,I chocked on a rubber band. Luckily, I didn’t swallow it and pulled it out half way from my throat. I was so scared and shocked. I or anyone could have died or would have needed surgery. I didn’t go to the store because it was raining but I called the store and spoke with the store manager, Angello, who said “I will talk to the chef and it could be from outside or from box opening.” Maybe the box shouldn’t be opened near open salad bar if that’s the case. The manager said I can go and he will refund the money. It’s not about refunding the money but rather taking it very seriously and having the staff be careful around food. I was afraid for my life and the management should take proper actions to address the issue.
I came in 7 minutes before closing time , first time I came into the grocery store and the people are very friendly and polite to wait for me to look around what good I have to get. Prices are very reasonable . Good selection of good from seafood to delicatessen. Several choices of freshly baked breads daily . Sushi is being made fresh and tons of selection as well as ice cream. Very accommodating staffs and shows you where to find what you are looking for. Cashiers are very courteous.
I was unhappy with the way the cashier acted like I was trying to do something shady with the package of meat I was buying. The sticker was poorly applied so I don't fault her for taking a second look but after weighing the package it was a hair off ($6.97 was on the sticker, her scale made it $7.08). Instead of just ringing it up with the sticker, she keyed in the higher price, pulled off the sticker and said something to the other cashier in another language. I felt like she was making it seem that I had altered the sticker. It made me not want to shop there.
I come here from uptown because the bakery goods ate the best. Fresh and delicious. Unfortunately both times I have been here, I was being continually looked at which made me very uncomfortable. While I may not be their usual clientele, I shop here for the bakery items. Not to shoplift. Profiling is wrong period.
Just saw they had a new butter and thought I would try it because they were out of Kerry Gold. I have to say this butter is really good and will be replacing Kerry Gold in my fridge.
I love how MW try new things and this is a hit for me.
Nice store, great staff, but quality issues. Produce is not re-stocked consistently, and overripe produce is consistently left out. Have purchased numerous fruits and vegetables that looked fine on the outside but had worms inside or were rotting. Ridiculous for the prices they charge.
It's convenient and clean with some good products. It's really spruced-up Shop Rite but expensive. I buy milk, the occasional prepared salads and some other items usually when they are on sale.
I’ve worked in customer service for most of the last 15 years. These employees need to step it up. Every time I go in, the staff is so unwelcoming. Today, Eliza at the register made me feel like I was an extreme inconvenience just for checking out. The only thing I said was that I’d like a bag. Times are tough for everyone, but if you’re unhappy in your workplace then step aside. I know plenty of people who are ready and willing to do a good job.
A very efficient supermarket for the consumer has in it most of the products for your day to day life. The problem is that the products are quite expensive. There are cheaper options. But overall if you are stuck you can buy here.
