I would say the purchase price was fair, though I had to weigh the value of the auto carefully. The process was smooth and low stress, although at the end the salesman tried to push a few add-ons, like an electrical maintenance plan that covered problems not covered by the surviving warranty. Problem with this was you are quoted a monthly installment and then they ask you to pay the full amount up front - $3000 in this case. So really, you are paying them $3000 in advance for repairs that MIGHT be needed. And then you might have to pay a share of the repairs. So really, you are paying them up front for repairs you might never need, and you might be able to get them done cheaper in a garage or at a dealership. Also, at the closing, they don't tell you you are entitled to return the car within 90 days if the odometer hasn't registered a 1500 mile increase. It's important that you know that.

Horrible experience. Brought my car for an appraisal which was a much lower price than Edmunds quote online, but that’s besides the point. I was told 30min wait which is fine. An hour passed and I asked what the wait was for. My sales person had already left so they had to scramble for another one. “Sorry for the wait”. I guess they realized they wouldn’t make commission off of an appraisal so they just all forgot about the customer.

Very positive experience. I went through hell in 2025 going through carvana 3 different times and kept returning the cars. Tried carmax for the first time and had a great experience. They fixed every issue I addressed. I would definitely go through carmax again. Thank you.

My experience with CARMAX has been very enjoyable. I'm a senior and I was very happy to speak with a very knowable employee. He knew exactly what I wanted and was not in rush to sell me a car. I recommend CARMAX as easy buying experience.

I bought a car from CarMax Maple Shade less than a year ago and while the buying process felt smooth, everything after that has shown me this company is a complete scam. I went back and read other reviews and realized my experience is far from unique. Since buying my car, I’ve had nonstop issues — including repairs and even a full tire replacement — all within months of purchase. If this car actually went through the “125-Point Inspection” they brag about, there’s no way these problems should have been missed. The biggest red flag was when I went to the service department for answers and was told their mechanics handwrite the 125-point inspection notes… and then throw them out after six months. How does a national company rely on handwritten notes for something so important, and then destroy them? That alone makes me doubt the inspection was ever done. I called corporate and opened a case, and all they could give me was a vague list of line items they “claimed” were done. No proof. No actual inspection sheet. No technician signatures. Nothing. They basically shrugged and said because I didn’t buy their warranty, there was nothing else they could do. Considering CarMax has already been sued by the FTC for shady inspection claims, this feels like the same behavior all over again. They advertise a rigorous inspection, but in reality, they can’t (or won’t) provide any evidence it actually happened. If you’re thinking of buying from this location — don’t. The inspection is questionable at best, customer service is unhelpful once they have your money, and you’re on your own the moment something goes wrong. Total disappointment and a very expensive mistake.

I scheduled an Express Drop Off appointment for 11/5 at CarMax Maple Shade and arrived on time with everything completed on my end, photos uploaded, payoff info submitted, all documents ready. Shortly after arrival, a manager informed me the transaction could not be completed because my bank was closed. At no point before my appointment, despite multiple emails, texts, and phone calls from CarMax confirming the offer and the appointment , did anyone mention this was an issue or a requirement. The manager I originally dealt with was dismissive, cut off my questions, and offered no real explanation or accountability. It was clear someone at CarMax failed to do the required payoff verification earlier in the day, but instead of owning the mistake, I was essentially told “there’s nothing we can do.” When I tried to make a plan to return the next day, the manager was evasive and unclear, as if I was expected to wait around all day for a phone call. The only person who provided actual service was Kaylee. She was the one who took the time to explain the situation as clearly as she could, gave me a specific time to return, and followed through exactly as promised. When I came back the next day, she handled everything smoothly and professionally. If anyone at this store deserves to be a manager, it’s her. CarMax as a company advertises a simple, no-hassle selling process and that was not the case here. The only reason this review isn’t 100% negative is because of Kaylee. Without her, I would have walked out and sold the car elsewhere.

Purchasing a car through Maple Shade CarMax turned out to be a very negative experience - mostly due to the Service Manager, Derek, who refused to replace my tires after my own mechanic determined the car was sold to me with only 10% tread left on the tires, which were original to the 2018 vehicle. I called CarMax corporate customer relations who tried to work with Maple Shade to have them replace my tires for free, but Derek refused and instead only offered to sell me 4 new tires at cost. They ended up putting the cheapest new tires they could find on my car with cost to me approx $250 instead of absorbing the cost themselves. It left such a bad impression on me, I am telling everyone I know about my bad experience, including writing this review.

Sales were great and easy. Unfortunately the car itself came with an issue and my problems happened with service. The car drove harshly over bumps and pulled left. I took it to a dealer and it was diagnosed as a strut issue. I took it back to Carmax thinking they would assess it and fix whatever issue. After 2 days and 2 mechanics looked over the car, they assured me they found nothing and it was driving as it should. Meanwhile the car was unstable going over bumpy roads. I gave up and took it back to a dealer and paid out of pocket. The struts were replaced and now the car drives great. It should have been covered under the 90 day guarantee. In hindsight I should have just returned the car. If you buy from them, there are great deals. But the moment you suspect something. Is wrong, return it. Also side note, they printed my temp plates incorrectly and I was pulled over on my way home. Double check and make sure the temp plates have the hologram on the bottom. Updated: Dropped to 1 Star after speaking to customer service rep who respond. Wasn't able to help and advised I should have taken the car back to the a second time to look into with Mercedes diagnosis.

I cannot recommend Carmax high enough. They gave me a quote online and when I went in, they did not negotiate, but took a five minute look at my car and gave me my full check. I was in and out in about 30 minutes. Great experience.

This is the third car that I purchased at the Mount Laurel location. I have no complaints. I can't tell you how great the service was the way they broke down the numbers the way they allowed me to ask questions and breakdown the numbers. I was not hassled at all. Smoothest car purchase I've ever had.

The 125+ point inspection is majority cosmetic points. If you’re purchasing a car from here, I’d recommend getting your own safety inspection done. This vehicle sold off their maple shade, NJ lot had more than 3 URGENT points, an open recall, and many other issues not disclosed of in the 125+ point inspection. Best of luck doing business here.

At first I was hesitant to look into selling my minivan through any of the online services. When I submitted my information online , Carmax responded immediately with an offer that I thought was extremely fair. From that point forward I could not believe how wonderful they were to deal with. Everyone, from the people I spoke with on the phone, to the business office, to the gentleman who came and picked up my van were all so professional, helpful, and extremely friendly throughout. They made the entire process go quickly and seamlessly…and they paid me exactly what they initially offered, with no attempts to lower the offer or add any hidden “fees and or costs”. I would ABSOLUTELY do business with Carmax again, and would highly recommend them.

Best car buying experience from start to finish. No pressure whatsoever. Offered a fair trade-in on my car, the sales and finance manager made everything easy for me. To be perfectly transparent they almost made me feel like they didn't care if I purchased the car or not. They just wanted the entire process to be easy. Anyone looking for a low mileage quality vehicle CarMax should be your first search. My car was transferred from another location by truck, it showed up in mint condition with less than 4,000 miles with 4 years remaining on the warranty. Always buy the Car Care extended warranty. I found the car I was looking for at another location but was shipped to the Maple Shade location at no cost and available within 3 business days. I stopped to look at the car without an hassle. I love that this is a no haggle process. I requested a payoff of my current car and received a great estimate which was honored at the time of my purchase. My sales associate and manager, Denise was awesome. She made the process very enjoyable and she handled my transation professionally and made sure I received everything I requested. The service department was great too. I left feeling very satisfied. Great Job!

We will only buy our cars from CarMax in Maple shade, NJ from now on. We traded in two cars for one car and the process was seamless. The salesman was very pleasant and efficient. The business office staff are very nice and helpful. The vehicle we purchased, a 2021 Bronco is GORGEOUS. We are very happy and we highly recommend CarMax in Maple shade!

Process of buying a car was great. No haggle pricing, and we were able to look at vehicles within our budget on our own at our speed. The only bad thing I can say is I feel I was ripped off with my trade-in. Update: 3 weeks after purchasing my vehicle, the transmission went. 6 was within my 90-day window, so it was replaced for free. I am now 6 months since my purchase, and there is something wrong with my front end.

I've test driven, purchased and otherwise interacted with the CarMax Maple Shade location a dozen times in the past few years. My experience has been very pleasant overall. Staff is generally friendly and helpful. Occasionally you'll have someone new who may not be very well versed in what you're looking to accomplish. The vehicles themselves have been great as well, advertised and presented fairly and have proven quite reliable so far.

Honestly they don't deserve no stars, but I have to add at least one. Me and my wife went there to buy a 2017 Chevy traverse. On the lot, in which it seem to be in pretty good condition from interior and exterior, we brought it because it had all the bells and whistles. It's a dealership, we were told it was given a 5 point inspection, with a 3 month warranty. We paid 15k over the market price. So we were expecting everything to be good. Upon driving home we checked the lights bulbs were blown. No big deal I changed it. Benefit of a doubt, then I checked the oil right away needed a oil change.she drove the car for a month and a half almost too months and she asked me to drive it. She stated it felt funny during braking so I checked the brakes she needs brakes and rotors around the car. They were warped and rusted. So I told her to call and have this serviced. They tried to do the bare minimum by changing the rotors and telling her they are going to sand down the existing brakes and put them back. In my head I laughed. We purchased a used car that someone traded In, and drove on them and then she drove on them with bad rotors and your going to try and salvage brakes?! I called and talked to numerous people. Which they give you the run around. Finally, she spoke to a Manger and he agreed both needed to be changed. She needed two front tires as well. I can't make this up! So last but not least spark plugs and air filter and throttle. I had to take pictures!! See for yourself!!

The No-Nonsense car brand. I sold my Civic Hatchback to CarMax in an extremely smooth transaction. I was skeptical about the difference in online marked price vs the actual price but there were no hidden deductions. The staff was polite and never tried to influence my decision. It was definitely worth the drive. - The online appraisal price will match the actual payment check unless one lie about the car in the survey. - You will not spend more than 50 mins to 1 hr 15 mins to sell your car. - The dealership is spacious with enough seating space. - Carry the Title, Resgistration (optional), Proof of Insurance, License. - You get the check right away. - Courteous staff.

A unique used car buying experience. It was much nicer than I anticipated. The facility is quite nice, spacious and welcoming. They have a no-haggle policy which means the listed price is what you pay. They made good on the warranty fixing a few items after purchase.
