1 Star – Extremely Disappointed After Years of Being a Customer I have been taking my vehicles to Darrell’s for years, but after this experience, I will never return. I originally dropped my car off for nothing more than a routine oil change. Instead of simply performing the service I requested, they decided to remove all four of my wheels and start messing with my wheel spacers because they believed something was wrong. Rather than informing me of their concerns and allowing me to address them myself, they took it upon themselves to disassemble things that had nothing to do with the oil change. When I got my car back, there was a large dent in my driver-side fender that absolutely was not there when I dropped the vehicle off. The owner’s son told me he noticed the dent when he pulled the car into the shop, which makes no sense because the damage was not present beforehand. Of course there is also zero camera’s in the parking lot, and if there is he lied. He said he would take pictures, send them to insurance or a paintless dent repair specialist, and discuss it with his father, the owner. That conversation apparently never happened because I never received a single follow-up call, update, or attempt to make things right. The problems didn’t stop there. During a previous oil change, they cracked my oil pan by overtightening the drain plug and reusing a washer because they couldn’t get the old one off. The employee who performed the work was reportedly still working through his first 100 oil changes. When I brought up the damage, they immediately tried to shift blame onto me because I have worked on other parts of my car in the past. For the record, I have never touched the oil pan. Darrell’s has handled every oil change on this vehicle. Most recently, after removing my wheels for reasons unrelated to the service I requested, they cross-threaded one of my brake caliper bolts. The bolt was forced in until it stopped, damaging the threads, and it wasn’t even tightened all the way down. Nobody informed me of the issue. They simply expected me not to notice. I paid roughly $300 for what was supposed to be a simple oil change and ended up dealing with damaged parts, questionable workmanship, and zero accountability. Every time an issue is brought up, the blame somehow ends up on the customer instead of the shop taking responsibility. I trusted this shop for years, but after the dent, the cracked oil pan, the stripped caliper threads, and the complete lack of communication or accountability, I’m done. My vehicle deserves better care than this. I would strongly recommend documenting your vehicle thoroughly before bringing it here and getting everything in writing. They’re never seeing my vehicle ever again.
In from out of state, car started making a weird noise. Went in at 1:30 on a Friday afternoon, they wouldn't be able to get the parts in until Monday, but recommended Big O Tires and Service, which was so kind of them to refer me elsewhere. Super helpful, very courteous and so nice. Thank you

This company goes up and beyond for their customers maintenance on their vehicles. I will testify that Kevin and the guys made sure my Kia was seriously diagnosed with the right knowledge of what my car needed. Then research on my extended warranty which made my financial hardship disappear due to the quick response this team made. I'M SO BLESSED FOR THIS WONDERFUL COMPANY! THANK YOU ALL DARRELL SERVICES FOR EVERYTHING!! I GOT MY CAR BACK WITHIN 2 WEEKS INSTEAD OF 3 MONTHS TIME!!
Proven Again The city hosts 'Best Of ________ In Topeka'. Darrell's Service has shown why they have earned this award consecutively. During the courtesy checkup that accompanies an oil change, they found that my AWD was in danger, and alerted me to the issue that could have caused me over $4,000 in seemingly unrelated damages.
Darrell's service is just , hands down, the ultimate auto repair shop in Topeka. Peace of mind in all aspects of having to deal with general maintenance to full out major repairs, with complete professionalism, and honest and very reasonable charges. If you need your car serviced, there's no one I would recommend more than Darrell's service!!
Had my son tow his 1995 Toyota Camry which had stopped running to Darrell's. They told him it had an interference engine which needed to be replaced with new engine because it was ruined when the timing belt broke. He had it towed again to Hudson automotive where they replaced the timing belt and it now runs fine. $200 wasted going to Darrell's.
Car wouldn’t start. Took it in via towing and they found out a computer part was draining my battery. Told me the cost, asked if It could be just unplugged and they did it and were super helpful and compliant with my needs! Great help!
Darrell’s crew fixed my vehicle quickly!!! The work was exceptional and they got me in and out within hours so thankful for their team!!! You need to go to them for service if you want it done right !!!

Darrell’s is the best place to go for all your auto needs! Big jobs or small jobs… everything is done with professionalism and expertise because they truly care about people. They are ALWAYS my first recommendation without hesitation. I can say this because they have done a variety of things for me… from checking my oil and tire pressure, changing my oil, installing new wipers, tires, brakes, timing belts, water pumps, crankshafts, gaskets and seals, filters, radiators, thermostats, hoses, idler pulleys, throttles, alternators, alignment, batteries… on and on! Each time, absolutely 100% satisfaction. Their labor and material charges are reasonable as well. I know you’ll love them too because Darrell’s is someone you can trust!
10/10 called Darrell’s for a flat tire that couldn’t be taken care of roadside they towed me in & took great care of me. I went in with tires that’s had very little tread & left with used tires that have a lot of life left in them & will keep my family riding safely for a while. Fast friendly & extremely helpful I’ll be going back to Darrell’s for my routine maintenance here soon!
I hired them to do a pre purchase inspection on a vehicle I planned to buy. They said they thoroughly inspected the vehicle and found everything was in good working order but they failed to mention some OBVIOUS failures. This is a shop that just gets the job done I wouldn’t expect a higher quality of service done to your vehicle here. I’ll give them 2 stars for being accommodating and willing to work with you. They treat you with respect but my only complain would be the quality of technicians here. Then again. I’m from Kansas City and usually get my vehicle serviced at the dealers but since this is in Topeka this was one of the only shops google recommended.
This is a very friendly place! One of THEE ONLY Full-Service pump!!! (Singular). The other 4 are self service. However, if you download the Shell App or Fuel Rewards/Hyvee you can type in the pump number and pay using Phone/Tablet. Rewards are pretty Awesome among all the others out there. Gas is Amazing regardless if Grade and you can take that to the bank!!

- After Business hours and Weekends there No Access to:
1. Restroom/Inside the Building.
2. No access to Live Customer Service. However, they do have an Amazing Towing/Roadside Assistance. (See Google page for #'s )
3. No "Free Air" access. Only during Regular Business hours in back of building (look for long hose from side of building)
4. No Full-Service service.
I consider these guys a little on the expensive side but they're great customer service and friendliness is something to consider.
There is plenty of places to park.
It's really small inside and there is next to no where to sit and wait while services take place. Limited drink options, coffee, light snacks, lots of vehicle self care like gas treatments etc...
They go out of there way to help and be friendly. They've been in Business a long time and have won Local Awards!!!

Kevin, I have call logs back to September of last year. Not once was I called by your store which is in my phone and has been since I spent 6 grand with you a year ago.
The lady that called me today is a liar and she is a horrible representative for your business. She needs to be fired. Four months I waited for one simple call to answer one simple question for a problem nobody needed to have.
NOT ONE CALL in that time, I'm happy to show you the logs and I record ALL of my phone conversations via Cube ACR and would happily provide the recorded conversation with the crazy woman who called me today.
I will never use your service again, and I will readily tell anyone I can this ridiculous story where no matter what you think of my attitude four months later, you still look the fool for allowing it to happen and then unleashing that madwoman on me.
Top notch service for sure. Please consider them for any and all of your vehicle repair needs. They are fast, efficient, and very affordable. They had our parts ordered and in very quickly. We were scheduled and completed in a very reasonable time frame. Definitely a 5 star location!!!

Darrells towed my car after an accident, were pretty quick to arrive at the scene, friendly & helpful, gave me a ride home on their way to their tow yard. Don't know the cost as that was all part of the cost of the accident.
I can’t tell you guys enough not to use this service. I feel scammed and taken advantage of. I came in for a problem and paid over $700 to fix it, not even 2 weeks later the same problem continues to happen. When I called them I was told what they fixed would not fix the problem I stated and they failed to run proper tests to ensure the problem was fixed. I took it back in hoping for a better outcome but was then told that my started must have broken within the 2 weeks since I had been there the first time and they quoted it for another $800. On top of that when I questioned why this was not tested before they were very rude and dismissive.
I've been using Darrell's for years, and they have always been friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. They make a real effort to keep my costs down, keep me informed of what's needed and how long it will take. I recommend them highly.
I had a leaky radiator and intake manifold issue. They fixed my issue. But it what they did after the repair is what impressed me the most. After I drove the vehicle, I noticed a severe oil leak. I brought the vehicle back to them and they gave me a ride home. In a couple days, Keith called me and told me that there was a gasket that had started leaking. and the vehicle was ready to pickup. They didn't know if it occurred as result of the other engine work or not, but regardless, they did not charge me to trouble shoot and fix the issue. They even cleaned my engine and the rest of the vehicle of oil at not charge. They could have very well said that the issue was unrelated to the original repair, but they didn't regardless of the cause. They stepped up and fixed the issue. An honest mechanic that you can trust is always the best anyone can ask for.
First of all, I am grateful for Chad and him coming to pick me up when my tire literally shredded onto the side of I-70. not only did he go to Topeka and back to Lawrence, he also offered to give me a ride to my house if I needed it. he was kind and quite literally an angel, I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to see a tow truck in my life. after almost 2 hours of trying to get insurance’s roadside assistance to help me, Chad was a knight in a shining tow truck. I will absolutely recommend y’all to my friends.
I would highly recommend Darrell's Auto. I was in a jam when they towed my car. They were able to not only tow it but fix it in record time. A reasonable price as well. So helpful, kin and honest. I wish they were in Kansas City. Yep, I was out of town when my car broke down. They saved the day!

I really don't understand all the negative reviews of this place. My husband and I first used them a couple of years back to tow a car, because they were the closest place in town to our house. We basically decided on a whim to try them out and hope for the best. We were beyond pleasantly surprised, and have continued going to them for basically everything our cars need for the last couple of years now. If you're looking for the absolute cheapest place in town, then this isn't it. However, if you're looking for the best overall value for your money, then I highly recommend them. They have reasonable prices, work very quickly, and actually know what the heck they're doing. Ignore the bad reviews. This place is a diamond in the rough.
I had my front hubs and a ABS senor fixed. They got my car in quickly and was able to get my car back just before work. Totally recommend bring your vehicle in to them. It was a good affordable price as well!
Changed my oil a few months ago and forgot to reset the oil warning light; flash forward a few months later and the oil warning light flashes on my car while I'm on the interstate and I have to get towed into Emporia. The technician there informs me that the last people to do my oil change failed to reset this light, causing me to waste an afternoon just to get a warning light reset. Darrel's Auto Service also said their oil change only lasts 3,000 miles, when the official Ford Maintenance schedule says they should last 7,500 miles.
When I reached out to inform Darrel's Auto Service, they confirmed my problem with the service center in Emporia and essentially told me they were glad I wasn't having any more issues and could come back when I do--will obviously never be doing so and discourage anyone else from doing the same. Don't take care of their customers.
My girlfriend called to see about an estimate for replacing a squeaky belt. The shop would be closed by the time she could drop it off for an estimate. No problem. They have an after hours drop box. Turns out that if you leave your car for an estimate, Darrell's policy is that you'll be billed for the estimate. $50.00 for a half hour. Apparently it takes the mechanics at Darrell's 30 minutes to figure out that a new belt and belt tensioner are necessary, even when we wrote exactly what the problem was on the drop off sheet. When I dared to argue that nobody told us that getting an estimate to replace a belt we already knew needed replacing was going to cost us anything, much less $50.00, the owner of the shop threatened to call the police on me and have me charged with theft of services. Gosh, what do you call it when his $50.00 estimate includes parts marked up 400%? I call it disgusting. Needless to say we took our business elsewhere, having paid $50.00 to find out that Darrell's son is into price gouging. What kind of scoundrel charges for estimates? Darrell's son. That's who. It turns out, after putting on a new belt, and NOT A TENSIONER PULLY, the problem was fixed. Gosh the 50$ repair estimate was worthless after all.
