I’ve been a huge fan of USEDSURF for years. When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton and living in San Clemente, this was one of my go-to shops. I was in there all the time checking out boards and talking surf. The staff always treated everyone with respect whether you were buying something big or just stopping in to look around.
What really says a lot about this shop is that even after moving across the country to Virginia, I still buy gear from them. Their selection is unreal and they always seem to have something interesting come through the racks.
USEDSURF is the kind of shop that keeps the real surf culture alive. Great people, great boards, and always worth stopping by if you’re in San Clemente.

Their selection is always changing, and they’ve got everything from beginner foamies to high-performance shortboards and longboards in great condition. Prices are super fair, and you can tell they actually know what they’re talking about.

I have been shopping at USEDSURF since shortly after they opened, it must have been about 15-20 years ago or so.... I remember when I first walked into UsedSurf and it was like, whoa, heaven on earth but with more wax fumes. Boards everywhere. It’s like if Leonard Nemoy and Bob Marley opened a pawn shop together.
I told the guy, ‘I need something that makes me look like I know what I’m doing, but also like… totally chill if I don’t.’ Boom—next thing I know, I’m walking out with a used shortboard that still had some other dude’s good karma on it and a sweet nose cone. Saved me enough cash for extra pedros AND a tank of gas for the ol creeper san-o van.
The best part? I have been selling my old shred sleds there for years. No more Facebook Flea Market for this bad chicken. Mark the wife and kids safe again!
Service? Badical. Vibe? Super mellow mixed with side show circus energy. They didn’t even flinch when I asked if the board came with free pizza (it didn’t, but like, they should think about that).
If you’re looking for a surf shop where you don’t have to sell your kidney to ride waves, UsedSurf is the spot. Just don’t buy the last 6’2” with the lightning bolt on it—dibs for real.
Excellent selection of rental gear, not just soft top longboards. Phil was great and all the staff were friendly. Prices are better than most. Also offer consignment sales and great deals if you are looking to buy or sell used equipment. Overall a great experience and will certainly use again on my next visit.
