HORRIBLE! Returned our car in worse condition than it was when we gave it to them, they had it for 3 weeks and couldn't figure it out so just "gave up" then my husband calls to ask him what work they did on it since we now have to fix it ourselves and he doesn't give him a straight answer and blames it on rats..on top of that when my husband went to pick up the car he was avoiding him now it's clear why..don't understand why this place has so many good reviews wish I could give 0 stars or even better negative stars

I would never recommend this shop. They had my car for almost a month and never fixed a single thing. When I finally got it back, it was actually in worse condition than when I dropped it off. They wasted my time, left me without transportation, and clearly didn’t care about making things right. Very unprofessional and completely disappointing experience.

On the morning of our wedding, we noticed our tire pressure was dangerously low. We stopped by this shop hoping for a quick fix—and they completely saved the day! The team was incredibly kind, efficient, and welcoming. They fixed our tires right away, had us back on the road within minutes, and didn’t even charge us. We were blown away by their generosity. It’s rare to find service this genuine. These are honest, hard-working people who truly care. We’ll never forget their kindness on such an important day. Highly, highly recommend!

I’ve never experienced such kind, helpful and trustworthy auto mechanics like the ones at San Clemente Auto Service. If they don’t answer, they call you back immediately. They don’t waste your time or money. They replaced a battery for me in one car which took no time at all, then I came back with a different car to have the tail light replaced. Super easy and super quick!!! I will continue to come back whenever I need help with one of our cars.

Tom the owner was amazing! We were in town for a wedding and our car kept breaking down. Tom came and took a Quick Look at our car and knew immediately what was wrong, turned a wrench and fixed it in minutes. 100% would recommend them.

San Clemente Auto Service was great! I came in for a 105k mile check and they got me in right away. Pricing was reasonable and they got all maintenance completed within the day. They even advised be how best to take advantage of my tire warranty from Costco so I could get a slice fixed with minimal payment needed!

My car started spilling oil and I was stranded at a gas station. I’m from San Diego so I was in a panic not knowing what to do but luckily this shop was literally a min away. I called an hour before it opened and Tom assured me they would take me in as soon as the crew got there. ISAAC AND CRAIG SAVE OUR TRIP! Thank you guys so much for the help and also the laughs you guys were truly amazing. What a BLESSING to have been there, I guess something broke with the interrupter but they fixed it and every thing has been running great. We’ll never forget the blessing it was to have been at the right place for the terrible timing.

My son's car battery went bad. Newer car, so had to reprogram car with new battery. (need expert for this). Tom came highly recommended by Oreilly. Tom was awesome and was able to get everything done same day. Honest man, highly recommended. Thanks Tom!

I limped my SUV to a safe parking location after having a red battery light and then numerous lights flashing on my dash. A quick Google search led me to the closest auto shop which was San Clemente Auto Service. I called with the situation and was told it was more than likely a failing alternator. After receiving a jump, I drove it in and within minutes, Tom confirmed the alternator issue and discovered a cracked air intake hose. They took the car in and had it back the following day. Tom and his crew were extremely knowledgeable and took care of our SUV with a quick turnaround. I will be coming back with any future issues and highly recommend their services. I brought my 2016 Hyundai Hybrid in for a bad coil. I had previously had a bad coil replaced through Jiffy Lube. This being the second coil in just a few months, I asked Tom to go ahead and switch out the remaining 3 coils and spark plugs so I didn't run into this same problem in a few months. He ordered my parts right away and was happy to change them out while my dog and I waited. During that process he noticed a cap missing on my radiator overflow which was misplaced during an oil change at the dealer. When I pointed out the missing cap to the dealer, they denied losing it and wanted $104 to replace it. I repaired it myself with a plastic bag and rubber band. Tom had one of his guys run to the auto parts store and get me one for 6 bucks. What a good guy. All done at a really reasonable rate. Will use this service center for all my auto repair needs. We're a family of 6 from out of state on our way from Oceanside to Anaheim for a funfilled day at Disney. Unfortunately, instead we found ourselves broken down on the 5. Thankfully we could drive our van enough to get off at the next exit. After a quick Google search we found that we were only .2 miles from an auto shop but they didn't open for an hour. We pulled up anyway ready to kill some time until they opened. Just after a few minutes they saw we were there and came over to see what they could do for us. They not only opened early for us but also prioritized us and even offered to let us use a loaner car free of charge to continue on to Disneyland. We didn't go that route because they were so quick at diagnosing and fixing the problem. They were super thorough and insanely competent when diagnosing and fixing the issue. They knew what was wrong in record time and knew they could fix it and that was super comforting to us. They treated us like family from the very first moment we arrived. Everyone there was kind and made sure we were comfortable as we waited. We were back on our way in 2 hours. They literally saved our vacation! And we are truly grateful for their "old school" service. It's not every day you find such a treasure. We were super lucky we broke down where we did and had such a smooth experience that could have easily been a nightmare. Wish we had a mechanic/auto shop like them where we lived. Everyone needs a San Clemente Auto Service in their lives.

Was staying at San Clemente campground. On our way there the brake controller locked up my towed vehicles brakes. We were flagged down and these brakes got cooked. I called San Clemente Auto Service and Tom had me come over. Very nice people and they worked me in right away to inspect and repair brake system. Highly recommend!!

I was out of town camping when my 1995 eurovan had a breakdown and this autoshop thanks to Tom was willing to work on it. If you know anything about old cars most mechanics are to busy to work on them. They replaced two very difficult to access hoses so I could safely get home. I live 52 miles from this shop and they will be my new go to autoshop for my 1995 van. Thank you

The BEST mechanic I’ve ever been to. Tom is an absolute gem and always goes above and beyond when servicing your car. He is an honest and genuinely good person who takes pride in what he does. They also have the best prices to go along with the amazing service. I happened to stumble upon this place when my car broke down heading to San Diego, and now I drive from north OC to get my car serviced here because it’s the only place I trust with my car.

I asked a local tire shop owner Robbie of Robbies Tires for a good honest Auto Repair Shop that will not screw me over on overpricing for a new "engine starter". I trust Robbie because he is a honest businessman and is loyal to his customers, which is why we go back and trust him. He referred me to San Clemente Auto Service on El Camino Real. Tom the owner and his wonderful technician team Craig etc fixed my car same day, made sure I had ride home and back while it was fixed. And he charged me so honestly that I will recommend without hesitation on any Auto Repairs to Family and Friends! If I went somewhere else, I for sure would have been overcharged! Went to get my AC checked and had incredible service. I called ahead and based on his expertise of what is was gave a timeframe to get it looked. When I arrived they quickly fixed the issue and were great at communicating. Definitely will be doing all my car service here and recommend to all my friends and family.

The owner Tom is the nicest repair guy I ever met. My camper truck blew its transmission and was towed there after hours Saturday night. Tom came in on Sunday, realized they did not have lift big enough for us and spent considerable time helping us figure out what to do, tow, etc. he went way beyond the call of duty. Thanks very much Tom!

My truck has 16 spark plugs that were due to change,and I was dreading the cost of replacement. The total cost from Tom was half of anyone else. My truck was spotless when I got it back AND the mileage has increased by 20%. Super happy with the service I got here.

Excellent service at an excellent price! Tom squeezed us in as we were in a pinch having driven in from out of town and hit unexpected car issues along the way. He fixed our problem (even quickly ordering parts) in a jiffy, on a holiday week with a very fair price! Highly recommend!

The consistent excellent and professionalism I've experienced here is really unsurpassed. 5 minutes ago I rolled in with the flat tire on my Range Rover... 3 gentlemen found the leak and they plugged the hole, Without trying to upsell me on anything. This is my 2nd time here and if you folks are looking for an honest 1st class outfit here it is!

Tom was a lifesaver. We stopped here after a tire blow out on our trailer on the freeway. After changing the tire we noticed more damage and needed help. The closest place was San Clemente Auto Center. We did not have an appointment and the shop was extremely busy. Tom came out looked at the damage and said we'll get it fixed.
