Brought a running car to them needed crank position sensor changed wouldn't start after work was done bought another 1 car has been setting there about a month now they don't have time to fix it wants us to pick it up but doesn't even run now rude when we called to check on progress

I dropped my Cummins diesel truck off of a wrecker at their shop yesterday and drove it home today. Their work was really clean and exactly right.
I took this truck to another shop September 9, 2025 and spent nearly $3000 and it still wasn’t fixed properly. Dude at the other shop put in a new tipm and ecm (plug and play parts) and I had codes before I got 3 miles down the road. And that was 3 months later!!! Homeboy across town took a quarter of a year to replace plug n play parts and still left me with a bum alternator and cables which likely led to the tipm and ecm getting burned out to begin with…which means it was gonna happen again.
The wrecker offloaded my truck at Big Boys and Mr Mason came out and immediately impressed me— this gentleman knows dodge/cummins diesels well and it was immediately clear to me as he looked under the hood and commented about what he was seeing. I like to play dumb a little with a new mechanic as a bit of a test. These guys passed with flying colors.
Mason and John were very nice and very personable. And quick turnaround, too!!
I’ll be taking my truck back to them from here on out (performance exhaust manifold is next).

First off I’ll start by saying these guys came highly recommended from a good friend who’s never led me wrong so I had high expectations. I have a very simple issue that’s still yet to be addressed. I have a VERY small exhaust leak that needs patched and I need chrome tops welded on, simple 20 minute job at most. I call these guys and they’re like sure, nothing is in the rack, go ahead and bring it in and we can probably take care of u right now. So I’m very pleased at this point. I got there and the guy who does the welding looks at it and he says yea, that’s simple enough it won’t be a problem at all. So he asks John if the rack was free and all of a sudden it’s not free anymore. Now I don’t like to pull the race card but at this point I don’t know what else it could be. So I’m like ok, when could u get me in, this is a Monday morning, he says give me until Thursday. Thursday I call, then he says I’m slammed, I’ll get u in Friday morning. So i call Friday morning at 8 a.m. to see what time I should come, once again he rudely tells me how slammed he is and he can’t get me in until next Wednesday. Still calm I’m like ok, next Wednesday comes around and it’s the same thing, it’ll be next week before I can get u in. So at this point I’m kinda already realizing I’m never getting in so I’m just playing the game at this point. So now today is Friday, 3 weeks later I was told I could get in, I called a little while ago and guess what, it’s wait until after lunch and we’ll SEE IF we can get u in 🙄. So this time I ask questions and he’s like yea people are always cancelling blah blah blah, so I’m just like forget it, can u at least just sell me the exhaust tips and I’ll have someone else put them on? He says well I’ve got an exhaust job scheduled for 9, if they don’t use them u can buy them. My question is, I’ve been waiting for 3 week to get in so how did someone get an appt ahead of me??? Like I said, it’s 2025 and I don’t like to pull the race card but attitudes sure did change once they saw the color of my skin which is very sad to say.
My car's problem was quickly identified and fixed, and the 2 mechanics were professional and friendly. Would definitely come back and highly recommend.
I haven't had a problem they couldn't fix, have never kept a vehicle more than a day unless ordering parts then 2 days max. They are friendly and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place if you're having automotive problems.
The guys there do great work at a fair price. they are fast and dependable and are always at the shop working. A great place to get work done from motors to brakes. I highly recommend them
Where to begin— in May 2021 my 2007 Honda Civic threw a “check engine” engine light and essentially broke down. We reached out to several local mechanics and luckily Big Boy Automotive was available and even towed my car free of charge to the shop. We were informed of a cracked head, a replaced number of items, and an oil change due to leakage of coolant into engine which created milky oil. It was a speedy fix and Mr. John even allowed us to pay the sudden expense in payments as we needed, which was especially helpful given the “sudden” part. We picked up the car towards the beginning of July 2021 and upon the first trip home from the shop my car once again blinked with “check engine” and shot as hot as it could go. Immediately, I returned the car back to the shop a mile or two down the road and insisted the car was acting off and Mr. John reassured me they would double-check everything. We returned to the shop after a couple hours and they said it was good to go; we were told they allowed the car to idle a while and “nothing happened” and it never ran hot again. We took the car back home feeling uneasy but trusted Mr. John and others were the expertise in the equation.. Big Boy has a 3 month warranty so at this point we decided to see how it goes considering we live a decent distance from the shop. August 16th, 2021 we returned the car due to continued milky oil and the car running not-so smoothly. It took a whopping three months of no contact or updates for the car to be returned to us in a drive-able state.. $1,500 + 6 months later and my car is still leaking coolant as strong as ever and brewing milky oil. They get an A- for good ol’ southern hospitality, and a more than below unsatisfactory in just about everything else.
Great work at a fair price in a timely manner. We have used them many times and have been very happy with the folks at Big Boy Automotive. I will use them again with out any hesitation.
They did a great job. They explained everything as they worked and showed me the before peices compared to the new pieces they were replacing. They didn't over charge, everything was in good range. They were friendly and very respectful. Definitely would recommend.
Had my transmission repaired here. Directly after retrieving I had advised that 4th gear was not pulling the very next day as I went home that day. Returned and had radiator replaced. Mentioned to him and just said ok. Nothing was ever done to fix the issue that was never fixed properly in The first place. Several gauges stoped working after retreiving primarily thermostats. Did not realize vehicle was running got due to this and head gasket went out. Returned to him at which point he just said oh well the transmissions are not warrantied. That would make sense if it went out afterwards but was never properly fixed in the first place so warranty shouldn't of had anything to do with it. Waste of time and money using this shop.
