Lady at the weigh station was terrible. I’m throwing trash away shouldn’t be that hard

Absolutely a joke....not ran right should be inforcing the pick up to use the roll off dumpsters provided instead of screwing up turn table house.....and to the smartazz in pickup truck waiting to lock gate at 1120 am when you don't close till 12 you said y'all know what your doing....all you had to say way that part is closed on Saturday.....but still doesn't explain why it's backed up all week with same problem......

I did not catch the gal's name who was working today, 3/16/24, but she has great customer service! I watched and listened when she was dealing with an irate customer (who I recognized as Mr. Alouf from Alouf construction) who berated and verbally abused her. She maintained her composure and professionalism throughout the ordeal and i applaud her for it!! Great job and I'll be there again for my recycling needs.

They say: “You can bring aerosol paint cans, latex paint, lead acid automobile batteries, used antifreeze, used motor oil during normal operating hours (Mondays-Fridays, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Saturdays 8 a.m.-1 p.m.)” This was not true. I was just turned away and told to register and return on the third Saturday for all hazardous materials. Poor wording? Poor training? Wasted my morning and garners my one star.

There are several things about this place that I don’t understand. It would be nice if perhaps there was a course in grade school that explained the ins and outs of visiting the transfer station. I’m kidding kinda. Having a disgruntled worker in a building that you can not see yell into an intercom; Home or Business!?!?!? As the first form of communication struck me very odd. I was not sure if I was being asked a question, being given a command, or if the mic. was accidentally left on by mistake. I sat there for a minute till the question was presented a little more appropriately. Very busy place. I recommend having your trash together when you get there.

Coming from other places where you have to pay to have your trash removed, I love being a resident of Roanoke County and being able to use their dump 12 times a year for free.

Very trashy. Smelled like a dump. Other patrons were just throwing their garbage on the floor. Probably will go again.

Easy to find, easy to get to, easy to figure out where to dump your recycling and other home waste, kind and responsive staff. Thanks for making getting rid of bulk cardboard an ease!

Typical transfer station. Watch where your tires go diligently. You can easily get a nail or screw there. Weekends are much more busy, expect a wait.

It seems like access is pretty easy at the transfer station right now. The lines are a little bit shorter and I'm able to get in and out a little more quickly. It might be because this is the offseason, but heading there right now is a cinch

Not really understanding why home owners can't dump trash there is NO Social interaction at All. I think there is a Bit of Laziness going on here.

Today I got my 2nd flat tire resulting from a nail after coming here to dump my recycles. I called and the gal that works there has ALSO gotten 2 flat tires in 5 years from this place. She said the 1st garbage truck that comes by after they have the street sweeper clean dumps nails. I'll never come here again. You have been warned!

Yep its a dump site.... Gave the 3 starts due to the lack of clear instructions then attitude. ( Not all just certain staff). Restrictions on time it can be used. And last the fees. Let me start by saying I moved from an area where their is no fee to get rid of any garbage, within law, and if you cant make it to the main facility, when open, their are plenty of small drop off dump sites around to go to 24/7. Continue if you want a quick story of my first visit to the facility. Recently I decided its time to clean out the garage. My father offered to lend a hand and his truck. We shortly headed to tinker creek with a full load of garbage having never came before. Upon arrival to the entrance we came to the weight station. A pickup infront of us also holding what looked like just garbage pulled up on the scale. ( Ah we must have to do the same). When we pulled on we where greeted with.."Are you paying cash, credit card, or check?" Lol what?! (Now I better understand why you find trash dumped in random places). My father, "for trash?" Lady, "household?" ....."Yes". "Go wa wa wa"..cant understand, through the bad speaker...but w.e well follow the other vehicles. We follow the other vehicles and the signs saying residential trash. We are lead to an area with clearly labeled dump spots for tires, appliances, recycling, etc. Seemingly pretty straight forward. Couple vehicles are leaving dumping trash in what is obviously a set of dumpster for regular garbage. A small "stop here" sign is placed, roughly speaking, in front of the dumpsters. We stop and wait for a moment. No one is now ahead of us. Father, "Stop for what?" Me, "Must be just in incase multiple vehicles are trying to use the dumpsters" Father, "Well no one is around so I guess im going to back up." As we back up another pickup pulls beside us and does the same. We both start unloading. Very soon an older male driving a construction vehicle pulls up and shouts about reading the sign. The two males driving the other pickup and us look at another like (Wut??). A male from the other truck responds, "This is where I was told to go last time." Older male rambles quickly about reading the sign, the small, not blocking anything, vauge, sign... ( yep did what it said and stopped there). He ends his ramble with , "You have to go to the floor." And quickly shuts his door and pulls off. My father, "Wait where is the floor?" No reply. We look towards our fellow bad doers in other pickup. One male, visibly frustrated with old male, responds, "I don't know but Im done so im just leaving." My father who is now also visibly upset, "Well why the **** is he (old man) going to just run off without letting us know where to go?" To end the story quickly. We found "the floor," it wasn't difficult. And a nice worker inside let us know how everything works and when to use the floor vs the Dumpsters etc.

Quick and easy entry and unload. If your dumping commercial waste it's about $50.
