Drove in without appointment for a last minute emissions testing. There were several people in the waiting room. The staff were attentive, polite and efficient. They took care of the emissions testing in about 20 minutes. They immediately uploaded it to the DMV website and I was able to renew my registration immediately online before leaving the garage’s parking lot.
On 9.11.25, I received an oil change and a vehicle inspection at Arlington Auto Repair. The inspection passed with no issues. The very next day 9.12.25, my car started leaking coolant and the heater hose had to be replaced (which was not noticed or denoted in the inspection) and costed me an extra $278. My $50 oil change now turns in to a $328. Of course, things break, and it could have been a coincidence, but the timing of when these incidents occurred are suspicious. For that reason, I will not return.
They did a good job inspecting my car and providing maintenance. I had a follow-up question today and they quickly helped me out, reviewed my car and fixed a simple issue it had. I'm definitely coming back here.
Two stars because they don’t make the laws, but they certainly have no problem benefitting from the lack of transparency in vague and arbitrary state inspections. Failed me for a torn strut dust cover when there’s clearly no sign of leak on the strut, or uneven wear on the tires, or any unusual clunks etc., all so they can make me replace my rear struts in order to pass inspection. The dust cover is not a safety hazard in any way. Anyway beware of this place my suggestion is go to a gas station that only does inspections but not repairs.
Small business. You should call before coming in. Mostly uses paper for transactions. Hold on to all the papers they give you. Clearly communicated what was wrong with my 17 year old car and how I could get it to pass inspection. Probably not the cheapest option but the service and location was well worth it.
Came all the way from Maryland to get my SUV inspected. Customer service was respectful and genuine and I appreciate everything they did to ensure my SUV pass the inspection. Thanks ARLINGTON AUTO I’ll see y’all on the next one.
The only place around here I'll take my car when I'm in a pinch and am unable to do it myself. Good prices for the area, quick turn around, & honest mechanics.
I just went to my usual mechanic of ten years down south in Hampton Roads last week for a routine oil change and they said I had no issues on the state checklist, including wipers, but I couldn’t stay longer to complete the inspection because I had to leave and travel to an event. Decided to try this place the following week while I’m up here and magically 1/4” of the end of my wipers I bought in the last few months are both peeling now, hope the $30 extra selling me wipers is worth it to these guys. Never coming back
We moved to the area last summer and needed repair for our jeep. We chose this shop based on reviews and have been so impressed with the way they do business. First we had to have the brakes redone and now we've needed the injectors replaced. Our Jeep is 10 years old and we've never had issues until now. We trust the work that they do here and they always are upfront and honest about what we need to do. We highly recommend Arlington Auto Repair.
Impressed by how customer centric and taking the word of customer. Customer stated they wanted regular oil change but full synthetic oil was put in and they respected the customer’s word and charged for regular oil change. No argument and all respect for the customer. I was standing behind in line and witnessed this and was impressed with the integrity.
Very good. I was at another station about a mile away, getting ready to wait a half hour to get my emissions testing. Called this number on a whim and sure enough they could take right away. Fast service.
I have had a tremendous experience at Arlington auto repair. They were very professional, did tasks in a very timely manner. They offer the best rates for all needs. Called this morning to get an emissions test for my new vehicle. They also informed me I needed a safety inspection. Took care of both of them in no time. Great customer service. Glad to know they are open on Sundays! Very convenient.
Stay away from this place. I Called them before half an hour and asked if is it busy they say no bring the car. I ended up waiting 1 hour after get there. At the end they say car can't pass inspection which is completely bs. Other places pass my car. Stay away from this garbage.
Excellent service, went above and beyond to educate me as someone new to VA on what was needed. Insanely reasonable prices, publicly posted, and I was in and out.
This also came after calling multiple places in Arlington and Alexandria who were too busy on a Saturday with their repair work (and not open on Sundays) to do the inspection and emissions. I can’t take work off these days so the weekend was the only option. Save your time, don’t call anywhere else, come here.
ZERO STARS! DO NOT COME HERE!! I would give NEGATIVE stars if I could, the most disrespectful inspector I have ever come across (and i’ve been around MANY). he was rude, laughed in my face after rejecting me for a brake light during safety inspection after I waited two hours to be seen. I called ahead and waited patiently to be met with disgusting service — would much rather give my money to ANYONE ELSE. Any other repair shop in this world deserves service over this place. TILAHUN K MESHESHA WAS THE WORST SERVICE PERSON I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN THE DMV. DO NOT COME HERE! SAVE YOUR MONEY FOR PEOPLE WITH KINDNESS!
Excellent service. Honest. Reliable. Very friendly. They always kept me in the loop on status of my vehicle. Couldn't ask for better people to work on my van. Needed a new transmission and motor mounts. Fair price on parts and service. Called last minute for state inspection and they took care of it quickly, before I even got to them.
I went here for a VA safety test and it was quick and $20. I went in having no idea what I was supposed to do or how much it would cost, and I’m sure the employees here recognized that but did not try to take advantage of me and sell me things I didn’t need. Really appreciate that! Would definitely be back for tests or any other work needed!
I’ve been coming to this shop for a number of years now and have tried other shops in between, but the service, responsiveness, quality, and affordability always have me running back. The employees are kind and personable as well. I’ve never had a bad experience with this shop and would recommend it to anyone in the Arlington area!
I called ahead to confirm that they are open on Sundays. They let me know they are open until 1:30 PM. I was able to get the repairs needed to pass my emissions inspection. It was quick and reasonably priced.
I purchased a Groupon voucher for a Full synthetic oil change for $70 as a gift to my daughter working in Arlington VA. She works at the MedStar Hospital in DC and free on weekends to handle chores such as this. She was there today (on a Saturday) and when the voucher was presented, was told that they do not accept that on Saturdays. There was absolutely nothing stated on the voucher about this. else I would not have purchased it. She ended up paying out of pocket, and now I have to hassle with Groupon to get my money back. If you want extra business by offering a discount voucher, make it clear in the requirements, and not scam customers. This could have been a 4-5 star but now just 2 stars.
Have been a customer here for two years and have always been very pleased and impressed with their service. The first time I brought my vehicle was for a state and emissions inspection. They found that there was a small repair needed to my engine to pass the emissions (a repair I already knew about from another mechanic) and recommended I get that done first and THEN do emissions. They not only offered me a better price for repair but also won my trust as they could have easily charged me for emissions even though they knew it would not pass. As a young woman with basic knowledge in vehicles, I trust they will provide me with quality and fair service!

I brought my car in to get my bumper replaced. I was extremely pleased with the professionalism, and quality of work done. In addition, the quote I was given when I first brought it in, was the exact number I paid when the work was finished. The paint was a perfect match, you would never know it was a replacement bumper. These guys are very friendly, efficient, and also walk you through exactly what they are going to do. The car was ready exactly when they said it would be and they were also very flexible about when I was available to come pick it up. I can’t wait to come back for any services I need in the future!
I stopped in for a state inspection on a Friday afternoon pretty close to close and had a wonderful experience. Everyone was so nice and I was in and out within 10 minutes. They even offered to turn my car around for me since it’s a little tricky to back out of the garage. I’m very impressed with their professionalism, especially since I’m a very young looking female. They even offered to fix some other part of my car unrelated to the inspection and gave me an estimate on the spot. I will be coming back!
