I had a MercedesBenz 190e2.3, that had problems and would not drive across town. I had it towed to all the top MB repair placed in Portland. I Threw a lot of parts at it and lots more in diagnostic labor and towing. About $ 1950 total. So it sat in my garage. Then I met a mechanic at the liquor store. We became friends. He said he used to have the very same car and he knew the problem: fuel pressure regulator. So we got on Amazon on bought this one. It arrived, and I was able to drive my car to his apartment building, thankfully 8 blocks away. I left the car with him for the weekend. That afternoon, my girlfriend, who lives near Troy, called me and said "if you are thinking of coming by, don't. At least for a couple hours"
I'm thinking maybe she is seeing someone else on the side. But that's not like her. "Well, why not" I asked.
"There are like 5 trucks and ambulances and cop cars all swarming the neighborhood".
About 10pm I get the call, from Troy, crying.
"Axel I fixed your car"
"Then why are you crying"
"After I installed the part, it drove great, I drove it around the block, twice.
Then I came inside for lunch and to tell my wife. I came out of the house when i heard the sirens. Cops and firefighters everywhere. The Engine Caught on Fire Bro! The whole front of your car is burnt down to the ground, even the tires and interior are mess of melted plastic, rubber and ash"

"I'm soo so sorry bro. I cant think of how I can possibly re-pay you"
"Sound like a freak accident. "
"I'll give you my guitar, and my bike"

"One more thing, the shade tree I was parked under caught on fire too, because the flames off the engine were 10 feet into the air"

"So the manager of my apartment building is pissed, and wanted the smoldering remains of your car out of the parking lot gone, and fast, he's talking ASAP"

"As far as fire damage to the tree, he might increase my rent, but from my point of view, you are lucky that the fire didn't spread to the whole row of trees'.
So then I called Joe at Old Car Parts, who was able to get rid of smoldering shell of my former car, and saved the rims, and Joe paid me $200.
In some sense, I wish I had bought this fuel pressure regulator a year ago, It would have saved me $1950.
Not exactly a win-win, I ride a bike now.

One of the last real shops around - they've saved me a few times with parts you just couldn't find anywhere else. Amazing collection and knowledge of parts for 1970's and earlier GM cars and trucks.

Traditional old school part's place. Not only do they have N.O.S. parts. But they also have parts of cars. Grills, trim, dash pieces, doors, fenders, etc.
Plus their knowledge of cars is excellent.
This is a gearhead's mecca if you own an old car. They deal mostly in old GM and Chevy stuff, but don't let that deter you. They dismantle cars and catalog the parts, so they may have that odd or rare part or trim or body panel you need. They even stock old motors.
If you're having a hard time finding what you need on the interwebs, then call Wade and Joey or stop by if you're in town. They know every inch of their vast warehouse and can find exactly what you need in a matter of moments. They are keeping the hopes of hotrodders alive in this place dedicated to car culture and community, where people come to sit on the stool at the counter and share a little part of themselves in exchange for a little car part.

This place and it's owners are awesome. If you need something for a 60s or earlier American car or truck, they have it or know where to find it. It's a treasure trove and a time capsule. Prices are very fair too! Wouldn't look anywhere else for classic parts!

I'm a paralyzed vet and help put on the largest Veteran car show in Oregon. I was looking for some very hard to find parts for my 53 Chevy truck 3100. I can not give enough praise for this family owned company. They had what I needed and Sr. Was in and he taught me a few things about the original parts for my truck. All I can say is I love this place.

Haven't bought anything from Old Car Parts, just working for someone who works there. So far, from what I've experienced, owner is pretty nice and there are a million different auto parts for old cars. Great customer service and friendly staff.
When I first moved to the Portland area, I had just bought a 1965 Chevrolet C-10 Panel. I found a 72 Suburban for a donar-truck for the newer suspension. The guy that I bought it from worked for "Old Car Parts". I was lucky enough to instantly make friends with the son of the owner. Joey is the first person I go to for hard to find parts. Always greats me by name and always makes me a great deal. One time I didn't have enough money for the parts I needed. I gave them $3 for the $12 and I didn't get back to them again for about 6 months. When I went to pay the balance, they had completely forgotten about it. I paid anyway and now they're looking for a intake manifold for me.
New and used parts and cars for 1937-19? Chevrolets. With parts for other GM cars as well! Constantly finding and buying cars and parts so inventory is constantly changing and growing. Originally 1937-1974 parts but the market demands have required them to expand beyond 1974. Joe Sr and Joe Jr are more than willing to send you to other vendors if they don't have the parts because they want you, the customer, to find the parts you need! They are a wealth of information! Sometimes that's all they provide, information, so their customers can find what they really need!
The most knowledgeable staff and owner Jr. In the Portland metro area maybe the whole N.W for Mopar and more was able to find what I need and always cheerful and fair will definitely frequent this spot has my business for life. Unless he sells lol
