I bought an engine from them and when I went to reseal it before I installed it I removed the valve cover and there was 1/4” of sludge baked onto the internals of the engine. I called them to try and get a new engine or return it and their solution was to do an engine flush or return it and they would charge a restocking fee. Really bad customer service.

I should have listened to the reviews, but against my better judgement, I purchased a transmission for my work car from these guys, because it was cheap. Horrible mistake, because I learned quickly why they were so cheap. The transmission I bought had a piece broken off of it that I noticed when swapping out the brackets, hoses, and other parts necessary for a typical JDM swap. The piece that was broken off was the protrusion that holds the pressure switch, so it’s not something that can be fixed because the ATF under pressure would break the piece again and blow out transmission fluid immediately. This was a clearly BROKEN transmission. I called them, and would have gladly just taken a replacement transmission for the transmission that I had not even put into the car yet. Any legitimate business would gladly offer an exchange of the same part for a broken part they unknowingly sold. But not this business…. They insisted I open my transmission case, take the back part of the case off, and swap it onto the broken transmission. Keep in mind that the transmission case holds gears, rods, and seals in place and I’d often shimmed. This is NOT a part that should have to be swapped with any JDM trans swap. This was a BROKEN CASE. I swapped the back part of the case just because I didn’t want to cause conflict and didn’t have time to argue with them. When i finished the swap, I drive the car easy, let it warm up, and filled it to the correct level of Honda ATF. But it was junk. It would not shift into overdrive and it lurched and jerked into the other gears. I did not want to drive it, because I probably wouldn’t make it home. I called them and told them and they STILL only offered a replacement if I took it to a shop and had complete diagnostics ran on it. This is nothing more than a stall and discouragement tactic for a crooked company. Who is going to pay $500 and risk having a breakdown to be able to get a replacement $350 transmission? No one. And they know that. Anyway, I am filing a lawsuit against them and I STRONGLY discourage anyone from buying from this company. Use a reputable eBay JDM supplier and have peace of mind. These guys sell junk and have terrible customer service. Just look at the other reviews.

Bad business. Get there after driving an hour to pick up a motor guy opens the shop and closes the shop 2 min and leaves and say he got other things to do and I’m about to spend 2k on a motor I guess he’s not seeing my money spent there bad business

I have never written a negative review in my life, but JDM was incredibly bad. The customer service is terrible. It was as if they did not want to sell the engine to me. I called approximately an hour before I arrived to confirm the availability of the engine. When I arrived, I was met with attitude. The person sitting at the desk was clearly in a bad mood when he asked what I needed and I told him. He then asked if I paid ahead and I told him I did not. He then told me that he wasn't sure if he had the engine even though I spoke to someone 60 minutes earlier who stated that it was in stock. He then said he had to check because they sell a lot of them. I asked if he sold it within the last 60 minutes and he told me he may have and that he didn't think he had any left. No big deal, I get that. He finally confirmed it was in stock and asked for my ID. He copied the information. Then asked for the credit card. I presented my mother's card because the engine was for her. He asked whose card it was and I explained. He said he would not take it without her there because she had to sign and present ID. He then said "I don't just take any credit card", (followed by some other chatter) in the nastiest way possible, even though he had my ID. I said ok and gave him mine. He ran it and gave me the receipt. NEVER had me sign it after he made this big production about customers needing to be present to sign. I guess I should have paid over the phone like the three customer receipts that were on his desk that he said were prepaid. He never said thanks or have a good day. Still acted as though I was putting him out. The guy loading the engine was just as unpleasant. They load without a pallet, so I asked if there was something that they had that I could rest it on. He told me "no we don't do that!", in the nastiest way possible, put the chain across the garage bay and started to walk off. What is most distressing about this visit is that I was polite and courteous the entire time. These two employees or owners, were completely unpleasant. Based on the other reviews, that appears to be the pattern. Apparently my $1300 for a rust, grease and dirt covered engine, wasn't good enough. I read a response that it is a family run business, so I don't expect change, however, I would encourage people to explore their options before buying here. It also appears they have issues with returns (based on reviews) and god help you if you have a return because they have a 35% restocking fee! So, $455 on $1300 purchase, to put an engine back on a shelf with a forklift. This place is shady and confrontational. I would never recommend this business to anyone and clearly by their review responses, nothing is ever their fault and they don't change how they do business. I wish I was able to leave zero stars.

JDM Midwest Motor Depot is the place to shop for used JDM motors, front end swaps, and other JDM accessories. I’ve purchased motors & body parts from Ton at JDM Midwest for a few years now and he’s always treated me well. Please do not confuse this place with Jdm Midwest auto repair LLC(Located conveniently right next door)

I was skeptical at first. I drove down from Indy to buy a vq35 de for a 350z and I wasn't allowed to choose any engine or look at anything. The engine was loaded on my truck within 10 mins from purchase. It was dusty but seemed good. The staff was friendly and the owner is very nice. they made sure I was buying the right engine to avoid future issues. they will answer all your questions nicely of you ask the correct questions. After cleaning and installation, the engine turned out to be great. I successfully installed it and it works great. (2k miles completed with no cel or issues) compression numbers turned out to be perfect as well. I will surely buy a few more engines from them soon.

I just purchased my 8th JDM engine from JDM Midwest 2 days ago. I have installed seven over the last 3 years and all have worked perfectly. Zero issues!

Bought a motor from them a year ago supposed to be 45-60k miles, motor blew a head gasket, turned out the heads have already been machined and the timing belt has been changed. They sold me a motor with nearly twice the mileage as advertised.

I was looking online and I stumbled upon a engine that this company had for sale they had 4 engines listed for the vehicle I was looking for, I called them up to see about prices,warranty ects. When I called a man answered and asked what I needed I explained to him what I was looking for and provided a stock number that was posted on the website they use to sell parts, he rudely said "we dont even use stock numbers" but the website Cleary had a stock number that wasn't too bad but then he started looking for the engine and said they don't even have them I asked so you have it posted but dont have the engine mind you they have 4 different listings for this engine. He said " we don't have any but we are getting more" didn't provide a time frame or anything. Me explaing this doesn't do justice because it's what he was saying but also the way he was talking to me. If your gonna have business you should be prepared for customers to call and ask questions if you don't like it you shouldn't have a business very poor customer service very rude employees and down right just a bad business

Total JERKS I drove 200 miles to pick up a part and they said someone else bought it 10 minutes ago. I tried to pay for it the night before but THEIR on line system messed up, however the salesman knew I was coming. Wasted 4 1/2 hours and $80.00 fuel and a $123.00 hotel room! The person who I talked to ,said he was owner, a real JERK!!!!!! Go somewhere else these people dont know how to run a business! I have emails and receipts to prove all these facts!

They do not honor car-part prices uses wife as excuse. Shipping is outragous, use some one else I dont think I am far off on the bait and switch. Check out all the others reviews similar in complaints. Shady people probably lie about the mileage too. Doubt anything is JDM low mileage they just put JDM in their name to fool people.

3pm on Wednesday 10th Called because I was about to purchase an engine and just asked a question on it, he's answer: it doesn't matter. Excuse me ? Who's purchasing the motor me or you? It matters because I need to know prior to purchasing. The reviews are correct! Lost 1500$

Should have let me put no stars! Spend 350$ on a transmission. Paid up front. Had my notes on pick up time. Then call n say they close in 45 minutes. Lol mind you it's 4 o clock. Online says open till 6. Fix ur business. Won't get a dolla more . Definitely not no 400 to deliver. Haha

False advertising and refuses to back up their products. Purchased a set of wheels that were described as a size that would fit my vehicle, but were a completely different bolt pattern and would not fit. They refused to refund my money even though it was their fault. Avoid this place - dishonest and rude. Edit: See their reply below for more of exactly what I'm talking about - rude and hostile. I knew the size I needed and their description on the web site was inaccurate. They also told me the wheels would fit my car when I told them what size I needed. Don't trust them. Was I supposed to jack up my car and test the wheels right there in the parking lot? Right... Edit 2: I called them and asked if the wheels would fit my vehicle. They confirmed that if the vehicle bolt pattern was 5x114.3, they would fit. The wheels were 5x120 and shocker - didn't fit. More lies and poor customer service. These guys are scammers.

I had a blown engine in my car and had to get a new one got my car to them day before Christmas and thy took my engine out in one day and replaced my rebuild engine I bought from them. And had it in my car the next day and back and running. Like a champion car jdm was very helpful and did great work I would tell my friend to have there car tow there and fixed like new the guy did a great job I'm very impressed with them thank y guys

Horrible service, called for a Nissan transmission and they never had proof of the mileage. This place is a disaster and their customer service is terrible. They were annoyed when the tried explain how to pay for it and I received a nasty attitude when asking questions, before giving my email which I still haven’t received. Felt like I was dealing with a hayseed uncle operation who just fixes it with duct tape and a wrench. PATHETIC..

Do not buy a vehicle from them unless you have experience buying Salvage. The ad stated no issues several times. After driving over an hour to see it. He told me the civic was throwing airbag codes. A pretty big issue. After driving it. We found several other issues. 1) different brand tire than other 3 on car. It was also the wrong size so it caused the car to handle incorrectly and throw a code. 2) Muffler was rattling badly and will need work. 3) Car hood was installed poorly which caused it to shake when driving at high speeds. 4) shudders when braking most likely due to bad rotors.

The guys at jdm Midwest are really good people. They know how to treat their customers and made buying my engine easy.They ask all the right questions to insure that I got what I needed. I will definitely be going back to buy more engines.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I bought a transmission from JDM Midwest a month ago and it is making noise. Called the owner Ton and let me tell you he has zero automotive knowledge, I'm a ASE certified master Technion. I also had a ATRA certified transmission rebuilder listen to the noise and he confirmed the noise is in the transmission. I explained this to Ton and sent him 2 videos of the noise and he was trying to tell me something else was making the noise. I explained that it would be crazy for me wanting to replace the transmission which is a 12 hour job if that wasn't the cause of the noise. He has been waiting for his tech to watch the video for 2 weeks and let him know what he thinks. Ton IS NOT a honest or upstanding business owner. I would NOT buy anything or recommend for anyone to buy from this DISHONEST company.

I am a car dealer, so I can smell suspicious a mile away. I called these guys last week about a toyota engine they had advertised on car-parts. Didn't care for the vague attitude I was getting about the answers to my questions. So I read all the 1 star reviews. Well, hell no way am I taking a chance on these ill reputes. I bought from another yard and I suggest everyone else do the same!

Was sold a faulty transmission by this "company" was installed by a ASE certified tech following the guidelines laid out by the manufacturer on how to do so. Transmission was junk from the get go and when we tried to contact them initially about a warranty replacement not even on the labor, just the transmission we were greeted by extreme attitude followed by a wild goose chase of impossible requirements. If you are looking to get ripped off by a shade tree "distributor" look no further. They do zero testing on their products before stealing hardworking peoples money. Do business with them at your own risk.

Guy made a mistake advertising a front end of a car, with the incorrect labeling for the proper model. He then proceeded to claim he had shipped the entire front end (after claiming he needed to build a crate... and the truck shipping it leaves days from now..) in under an hour upon the customer placing the order. He then refused to refund the order, claiming it was the customers fault and the whole front end already was shipped! This company is horrible, and I would not go anywhere near this place with my hard earned cash. Be careful trying to buy from this place- I recommend anywhere else quite frankly if you do not want to be robbed blind!

Seller gave me a great deal on a JDM front end for an integra the headlights were absolutely immaculate $400 value, unfortunately the front bumper was cracked and i was unaware prior to purchase. the seller assumed responsibility and gave me a partial refund so i could have the cracks sealed even though they didn't have to and they lost money on the transaction. absolutely the best customer service ive ever delt with from a JDM warehouse.

I purchased a Subaru engine from here and my shop found numerous problems with it. I live 3 hours away From JDM midwest. I called them numerous times within the 60 day warranty Explaining to them the problems with the motor. They would not return my phone calls or respond in anyway. I finally got someone to respond and explained to them the problem And At this point they knew that the motor was now out of their warranty. The guy that I finally spoke to told me to bring the motor back and they would exchange it. I drove three hours and arrived at JDM Midwest only to have them tell me that they would not exchange the motor because it was past the warranty date. if you buy something from them you are stuck with it ... There is no warranty. I was told if you do anything at all to the motor they will not take it back. If you fix any leaks that the motor had when you bought it, it’s yours. I have changed my review do to being angry when I first wrote it. Nothing wrong with shopping here... just make sure of what you are buying...

We employee 2 ASE Master technicians. We have installed 3 Engines from JDM Midwest, this year Sept 2015 all 3 were Honda Accord F series motors. All 3 were very clean well wrapped and nearly undamaged, one had a dented oil pan "no big deal" a quick swap. Fast shipping and a great price. All 3 customers were very happy with the final product. I do not modify or do performance work. If they are not a full service and professional garage then why would you expect them to fully be able to repair cars. To my understanding and review they are a USED parts wholesaler. use professional mechanics and pay for professionals.
