At first glance when researching local transmission shops this one seemed to have the best reviews, which at first sight eases my stress with my cars issues. However, once I was able to get in touch with somebody there I was quickly prompted to drop my car off to get it checked out but only to receive a call barely two hours after dropping it off just to tell me I need the most expensive repair which was a whole new transmission. Now mind you I went in here asking for one certain thing, a transmission fluid check. I have a CVT transmission and unfortunately with that I am unable to reach the dipstick to check the fluid without having a lift or proper tools to do so. So what do most people do in those instances? They go to a professional just as I thought I was. I am not your average woman I know a lot more about cars than some may assume. Once I was told I needed a whole new transmission I was told to get my car picked up, I didn't pay a single dime which slightly leads me to believe they didn't do anything except drive my car around the block, and I received absolutely zero paperwork or question of my transmission fluid levels. After this incident the second shop I went to did an absolutely amazing job and listened to the one request I had which ended up being the primary problem absolutely no new transmission was needed and I feel completely taken advantage of simply for being a woman. In my opinion I highly recommend you search for different shops locally other than this one.
Very honest and up-front about the work cost and timeline for the pickup transmission. Spot on for the cost, and 5 days early! These are the pros that mechanics and auto technician instructors use.
I've had two transmission jobs here. Both jobs, I'm sure, were an absolute pain in their ass.. and both jobs have come back flawless. The employees are very helpful, honest, knowledgeable, professional, and personable. I highly recommend them.

Called to inquire about cost of transmission flush and fill for Kia Rio LX. The guy asked me why I wanted it flushed, so I told him the fluid is brown and worn out. He asks me what I meant by worn out and I said it's brownish red and car has over 100K miles on it and needs a flushed and filled with new. He proceeds to start in on a tangent about transmission is bad or whatever and I told him it works perfectly and I just want it flushed, he then makes rude remark about I don't know what I'm talking about and says $425 to flush and fill it. That's 2-3 times higher then anywhere else. So basically this guy wants to make things up in order to replace as much as possible in your transmission to make the most amount of money and if you don't agree with him then he will charge you outrageous prices in basic services to make up for not being able to scam you. Stay away from here, you been warned.
First off, they came recommended by other shop as I never had to have transmission work done before. They got me in a reasonable time after the holiday and treated me honestly and fair. I think those two attributes should be rewarded in today's world of so many rip off companies. You never HOPE to need them but it's good to know they are there!
The customer service here is unparalleled. I recently had a vehicle towed here after a breakdown. They pulled it in and immediately knew that it was not at all a transmission problem. I was devastated to hear there was a hole in the bottom of my engine. I mentioned possibly needing to leave it there as if the engine needed replaced, there needed to be some "mathing" done. Jeremy who works there called me back very quickly to let me know that he had called around about how much a new engine would cost and found out that my model had a really common and known to the manufacturer problem and that I should get it to a place that could do warranty work. I ended up calling the manufacturer later in the day and they created a case and confirmed that most likely things would be covered by the warranty.
We recently dropped off a Jeep Compass that was experiencing a transmission issue. Expecting the worst, we patiently waited for the call. The call came, and to our surprise the transmission issue was caused by a lack of transmission fluid and leaking cooler hoses. We were expecting a quote for the repair to be in the thousands, but it came back in the hundreds. When the owner of Shermans called, he was up front and honest when he could've taken advantage of us. He took the time to explain the problem and even forewarned us of some unrelated issues with the car that we were unaware of. Once the Jeep was finished at Shermans we took his advice, and delivered it to another shop. The mechanic at this shop confirmed everything Shermans had told us. I don't remember the name of the owner from Shermans, but if you happen to read this review, Thank you! You may have saved someones life with the information that you passed on to us. Keep up the great work!
Shermins was able to replace my bad transmission with a salvage unit I purchased speratly. It was installed in a timely manner at a reasonable price. shifts and drives as it should. Jeremy was very helpful with questions and patient when I was trying to find a good unit for replacement. P.S.: you take a risk with used/salvage parts and thats not there fault. A++
Car blew up a transmission on our way to visit Cleveland. Called Shermans to see if they could fix it. He told me to get it towed there he would look at it 1st thing the next day. Worked with me to arrange our luggage pickup out of our vehicle. Jeremy had our transmission built and replaced in 2 days before we had to leave to drive bk to Illinois! I was really impressed! He knew our story from being out of town and put our van to be fixed in front of all his other clients (which by the looks of his lot there were MANY)! I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THE HARD WORK AND EFFORT THIS SHOP PUT FORTH TO GET MY VEHICLE UP AND RUNNING IN SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME! THERE ARE STILL GOOD PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD!! THANK YOU AGAIN JEREMY FOR YOUR HARD WORK AND UNDERSTANDING IN OUR MATTER! IT TRULY MEANS ALOT AND DIDNT GO UNNOTICED!!!! THANKS AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING!!!
These guys tend to stay pretty busy with being one of two transmission shops in Mansfield but they provide top quality service. They take care of their customers and make things right if need be. I know because I am one of their customers. They are an honest bunch of guys and I absolutely recommend them.
Great experience! My Crown Vic was not shifting gears, so I expected a very high bill for fixing the transmission. I called the shop, based on the reviews, and they offered to look at the car the same day. I was impressed by the level of professionalism! Jeremy knew exactly what could be causing the issue and managed to diagnose it within a few minutes. As it turned out, just one cable got disconnected. Didn't get charged a penny. I have seen very few mechanics with such work ethic and knowledge these days.
Jeremy actually took the time to explain the possible problem over the phone. Told me how to check it. free of charge and it worked! I was so happy I bought him and his co worker lunch! Would definitely take my business to them anytime it's so good to just be human to each other.
Not happy !! Had an appointment for a Wednesday and then called today to change the appointment to Thursday because I needed my car on Wednesday. After hearing whoever answered the phone huff and puff and acting like they hate their job I just ended the call. Will NOT be getting my business. I read a lot of great reviews about this place but had a horrible first time experience. Definitely call around at local transmission shops ! Made me feel like bringing my car in was an issue ! Screw this place I’ll go drop 500$ somewhere else where business is wanted !

Friendly guys here. Rather small area to turn around in up the narrow drive, with low wires. I recommend staying on the road to unload unless you have a short trailer.
Recently ran into some transmission trouble in the middle of a cross country road trip, and had to have my transmission rebuilt. These guys got me in right away and had all the parts on hand. They even found me a local motel to stay the night while they did the work. I was back on the road within 24 hours. Would definitely use them again if they weren't several hundred miles from my house.
I've had two transmissions installed in two cars (99 Expedition, 97 Town & Country), and wouldn't trust my car to anyone else other than Sherman's. They are fair with pricing and easy to work with. The two year warranty makes it easier to hand over big money.
