Ron’s was called after I crashed my car on an icy road and I was charged $1000 to tow my car 20 miles. This place is a total racket

If I could give this place a ZERO I would. Crashed my car into a ditch 3.5 miles from this place and unfortunately don’t have collision so I called this place since they were the closest. My Stepdad came to pick me up as we waited for the tow. They didn’t tell us a price over the phone, so we talked to the man operating the tow truck and he told us $200 to tow it from the ditch and $150 to bring it back to the shop. NO OTHER FEES WERE MENTIONED. We agreed and the driver, Josh, confirmed they would keep the car until Monday when they opened back up the we could go from there deciding whether to fix it or not. Again, NO OTHER FEES WERE MENTIONED. He told us we were all set to go. Fast forward we call to pay and pick up my car, and we were told it was $1200 or they wouldn’t give us the car. Flat out ridiculous, and the woman named Mary seriously needs an entitlement check, or some lessons in basic human decency. They go to call my family ‘liars’ for saying we were told max $350 for everything. We refuse to sign the credit card signature until we spoke to Ron, who conveniently “wasn’t” in the office until we threatened to dispute the charge, then he magically shows up. We mentioned that Josh told us the lower rate, then Josh himself proceeds to deny he told us any charge at all. Shame on every person who works for that piece of garbage establishment. You all obviously get off to ripping off people who can barely afford to pay for a car in the first place. DO NOT GO HERE.

Jesse did an amazing job helping me get my flat tire changed. I had a lug nut that was incredibly difficult to get off of the flat tire but Jesse didn't give up and got it off! He went above and beyond to help me out! I couldn't have asked for better service!

Until today, my family and I have been bringing our vehicles to Ron's for YEARS and have never had any issues - we have always felt heard and satisfied with the work that was completed along with the communication from the shop to the point where we have recommended this shop to MANY others via word of mouth. Today I went to pick up my car and had some questions about the charges before I paid - Mary at the front desk quickly started getting frustrated and being rude, then calls a young tech who worked on my vehicle in to 'explain' the charges which he couldn't fully do. I requested to speak with the owner Ron for better clarification, which was denied, and told that I had to "go through her [Mary]." Mary then threatened to keep my car as I was "refusing" to pay and told me that she would now only accept cash from me due to "how I was acting". When I responded that I didn't have cash on me, she responded with "well then you can walk". After explaining that if I used my debit card it would pull the money automatically, she gave me an "Authorization" form to charge my card - I had never filled one of these out for work on my car previously so I read through it first and noticed that the bottom of the page stated something such as "by signing here, you are agreeing to be satisfied by the services provided". I brought up to Mary that I felt uncomfortable signing the form as I was NOT satisfied with the services and was requesting to, again, speak with somebody for more clarification on what the specific charge was for. Mary again refused to let me speak with the owner Ron and threatened to call my "parents" because "they have more sense" - I am a 30 year old woman and have always handled my own car maintenance so I'm confused why this statement was even made. I then agreed to call my mom for guidance on the situation and while on the phone, Mary and the tech were laughing at what I was telling my mom and threatening to call the cops on me - SOLELY for asking for clarification on why I was charged the fee. I ended up paying simply to get my keys back but I can guarantee my family members and I will NEVER step foot into this shop again, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. This was the most extremely unprofessional, unnecessary, uncomfortable, and disrespectful interaction that I have ever had as a customer. My car still has both problems I brought it in for because they "couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong" and that they have IDEAS of what it COULD be but that I would need to take my vehicle to a Subaru dealership in order to *actually* figure out the problem. Very disappointed not only about the lack of fixing my car, but mostly at the way Mary handled this situation.. no word from Ron. 10/10 would NOT recommend. Additionally, I was contacted by the owner Ron who stated that if I removed the review he would THEN make things right and refund me the money for the work that was NOT COMPLETED (and yes, he admitted to this as well).

The team at rons are beyond great. I took my car in for some front end body work. They were fast, efficient, and knowledgeable.My car looked like new when I picked it up.Ron body and paint are honest and straight forward people with customer satisfaction being held as one of there important high standards.I would definitely send anyone in need of body work to rons because I was beyond pleased with there work and customer service that I received. I needed a mobile home towed on top of a foundation and after being told "no" by many tow truck drivers due to the tricky angles and maneuvering, Ron's Body and Paint came out with a truck. The young man who towed it was very knowledgeable and patient and did it slowly and precisely so nothing was damaged. I highly recommend.

Going from Toronto to New Jersey my car broke down and ended up getting Rons body and paint to help us. These guys were great! from tow truck drive to receptionist to mechanic who looked at my car, they are very friendly and honest, they did not find any reason why my car broke down (believe me even the tow truck guy tried to start the car before towing it) and only charged me for half an hour labor. I would defiantly recommend these guys to anyone. Thanks Guys!

I had a tire blow out on I-81 on my RV. This guy had my family back on the road within an hour. He was very professional and did great work. His price was very fair especially considering he was working on the side of the very busy and dangerous interstate. I am very grateful for his help.

I bought a 2021 Nissan Altima, then had the nerve 🙄 to hit a pothole and get a flat tire. Matty English responded, and when NO ONE ELSE!!! Could take the tire off, as it has a anti theft lugnut. I tried Nissan! NO help!! I tried Advanced Auto. No help! No one could take off my tire! I ordered one, off amazon . Would not work! Matty not only got my tire off, but he is so enjoyable and personable!!! It made my whole awful ordeal, bearable!! 10 out of 5 stars!!! Matty is the man!!!! I'm very pleased! Honest people. My Son was stranded 2 hours away from home in Cortland. AAA towed his car to Ron's Auto. It was late and Ron's Employees had to leave. My Son's car was going to be seen next day. A few minutes later I got a call saying that it was just the battery and now the car is fine. They waited for my Son past their closing time so he could pick the car up. They didn't charge me a dime! They could've totally taken advantage. We were in a bad position. They did not. Instead they stayed beyond their time waiting for us to pick the car up and said there was nothing to be fixed or charged for. They were also very polite in their demeanor. Not many people like that these days.

Jesse came on the worst snowy, blustery, cold winter night in 2025 to unlock my car through AAA. He is patient, kind, and willing to listen to the customer. Ron, Jesse is an IRREPLACEABLE employee; a fantastic asset for your business!

Live in Harford all the way on the top of a hill. My car had died and no other tow company would attempt their truck during this winter from hell. Called Ron’s and they not only attempted it but got my car delivered for repairs to my shop. Other tow company said when it warms up they will tow it. Like when; in the spring? Thanks very much Ron. Much appreciated.

I just want to say this company is one of the rare ones for sure! They are run by an honest man who definitely knows how to run a successful business with happy customers! I took my car in for some body work and got it back looking and smelling like a new car with everything done and then some with no additional charge! I will definitely be using them for all future repair work! Thank you Ron!

My vehicle broke down at Cortland Walmart. Ron's was contacted by AAA, and they were very quick and professional. I am terrible with names, I believe our tow truck drivers name was Jesse. I had to call AAA today when I broke down around an hour and a half away from home. Jesse arrived quickly and made the entire nightmare scenario extremely quick and easy. After unfortunately hitting something on the highway, I needed my car towed back from Binghamton to Syracuse. Josh towed my car and gave me a ride back to Syracuse. He was extremely professional, timely, and kind during my time of misfortune. Very impressed with the services provided!

Ron's took care of me from a tow, to a free loaner, a beautiful body and mechanical repair from a deer collision. They were communicative, professional and friendly. I was glad I decided to go with Ron's, thank you! If you are looking, understand that parts aren't always easy to source and they are even bad sometimes. They just want to do their best and make your experience positive - Thanks Ron's! Edit - called up to ask a question, have a little follow up work done after a few weeks. Ron was very helpful with my questions and took a look at an exhaust issue with a free quote! Again, positive experiences.

Ron’s Auto Body is by far the most professional car mechanic I have ever been to. Everything from their clean, organized office to the sweetest staff members, to the goody bag they handed me when I picked up my car - this is my go to spot. Ron had to replace my bumper and a side panel. Did an EXCELLENT job. I asked him to remove a coffee stain on my cream colored seats, when I picked up my car not only was the stain 100 % gone the car smelled amazing and it looked like he vacuumed the interior. Talk about going above and beyond - Ron and his entire staff are impressive, great at what they do, genuinely great people! I would not trust anyone else with my car. They made this a highly pleasant experience.

AMAZING. Would give them ten stars if I could. I got into an accident on November 4th, and because of the part shortages my car was with them until about a week and a half ago (mid-January). In that time they kept me regularly updated on what was going on and got me into a courtesy car as soon as one was available. When the manufacturer pushed out the delivery date of the one remaining part they needed yet again, the owner went online and hunted down the piece from a third-party seller. GREAT people, friendly, thorough, and a beautifully done job.

Buying new tires quite frankly sucks but the entire experience from calling and talking to Susie. Getting a quote. Then having the tires ordered delivered and put on my car the next morning and the entire process all happened within 24 hours is absolutely amazing to me. Ron's came highly recommended to me by a co worker and I would like to pass that recommendation on. Great experience!!
