STAY FAR FROM HERE, This Lou dude took my car for a year and held my car hostage and blocked my number. I’ve been asking for updates on my car for about a year since my recent crash and Lou always has to get a new part or has to wait for something it’s always some type of excuse and he always backtracks on “progress made”. I’ve ended up just asking for my car back lou has refused to answer this man will take your vehicle and not give it back. Please do not go here everything is a lie, I’m calling law enforcement to possibly help.
Our vehicle overheated and we broke down while our son had a baseball tournament all weekend in Cooperstown. I originally had it towed to the dealer and they said they could fit me in 10 days later. I called another garage and they said 8. I called Lou's and he said he could squeeze me in that day or at most the next. I had the vehicle towed over and he stuck to his word. He was able to look at it and replace our water pump and brakes. The total bill was way lower than I expected and certainly much cheaper than the dealer. They also insisted on showing me the parts they replaced even though it wasn't necessary but a total trustworthy gesture. If I lived near here I would never go anywhere else. They were absolute life savers as we were also moving out of state the following weekend. So definitely consider them for your repairs!
Waiting area not ideal for a business. hard to turn around in parking lot. Lou acts like a nice guy. but does not get work done on time. save yourself the headache. shop around
I called and made an appointment to get my brake pads replaced. I drive half an hour to his shop during my appointment time, and am told to come back tomorrow instead. I came back tomorrow and he asked me to come back later in the day. it was a red flag but I still came back. He said sit in the office. I waited 3 hours to get brake pads because he was working on a derby car for the fair. Will never, ever be coming back.
This place is very bad, kept my car for over 2 months and when I got it back there was a used tobacco container in the passenger seat and other of their garbage. Do not know why I continue to go back there, brought my car there middle of June and just got it back today, end of August only because I am moving and NEEDED it.
I bought a used bmw with about every code going off and Lou was the only guy in town that would help me out. He put the work into it and called me when he had information just to let me know how the process was going until it was all fixed. He was honest, fair, and all around just a good guy. He has been doing this a long time and really knows what he’s doing which is why I will go to him for whatever I need in the future.
First time having service done at Lou’s and I’ll definitely be going back. Great turn around time and made sure I was aware of costs before going ahead and doing any work. Very friendly, left my car clean, and was great with flexibility of pickup time.
Very dirty shop, a real fire hazard. Work was sub-par and definitely will not use again. You get what you pay for at Lou'sers Auto. Takes a week longer than he tells you and he put other cars in front of mine just for the extra dollar. ADHD
Took my vehicle in Thursday 1-14-2021. Was not ready until 9 days later even though he said it would be ready that following Saturday. Paid 1300 for a tow, spindal and bearing. Brought my trailer in with truck, said he looked at it and it was fine. Same day my trailer was wobbling on trailer and needs a new bearing also. Would not reccomend this place at all. Save your money.
Lou is the only one we trust to work on our cars. He’s very upfront, honest and won’t do work without your knowledge. His prices are the best around and his work is great.
My brother brought the car in for a shift cable replacement. That supposedly didn't fix the problem we were having with the vehicle, so we let them continue working on it to fix whatever else was wrong. Six weeks later we are still waiting, constantly getting the run-around. He never calls back, stated that his employee was working on other vehicles first. This has resulted in my brother losing his job already. Where their rating comes from is beyond me.
This is the only place I will go. I got work done on my car up in Ithaca by another mechanic, and Lou noticed something was off - he found out that they charged me for parts that they never even put on the car. Lou then called the other shop and made them give me a refund, saving me over $200!! This is the only honest place in town and Lou really knows what he's doing. Even if you're passing through or have lived here for 20 years and always went elsewhere, definitely bring all of your vehicles here. I can't say enough good things!
Had a wheel bearing hub assembly blow out on my 2005gmc Sierra on my way to NH from NC limped the truck into Lou's he got us right in and back on the road within an hour or so. Lou and Charlie two great guys with extremely fair prices and superior service I highly recommend Lou's for all your automotive repair needs!!
Make sure you talk to Lou before leaving your vehicle. I set up an appointment for a transmission flush and filter change over the phone. He set a price we agreed upon and I thought he understood since I said very clearly "transmission flush and filter change." When the day of the appointment arrived, I discovered that my transmission flush had been changed to transmission maintenance and the filter had not been remembered at all. When I reexplained what I wanted, the price magically went up. Still not sure where the miscommunication happened. Currently I'm sitting at my appointment waiting for the other two vehicles he decided to work on during my appointment time...
Overall poor experience. Took over three weeks to diagnose and give a quote. Every time I called I was told this afternoon or tomorrow or in 15 minutes and never received a return call. When I was quoted for a repair I could not afford and informed him I would be picking up the vehicle the amount I owed all of the sudden increased. I was not heard in describing the cars issues and diagnosis included a test drive not time on the lift. When I questioned the diagnosis I received snarky remarks. Turns out the diagnosis was incorrect and repairs cost half of what I was quoted but I have no doubt I would have paid nearly 1,000 for 2 wheel bearings as he was so sure it needed when in fact only 1 was bad. I was looking go sell the car and lou offered to connect me with a friend who was looking to buy. This friend showed up and indicated he was too intoxicated to drive and attempted to buy the vehicle. He was upset I decided not to do business with his drunk friend. Drama and unpleasant all the way around. I will not return or reccomend this shop.
On our way down south, we lost a wheel (big repairs needed !) And Lou took us right away and helped us with our trailer. Very honest price and friendly welcome. Recommended.
I require honesty and reliability in my auto mechanic. Lou has both. Plus he is very reasonable on pricing. He will be my mechanic until he retires in a hundred years. Lol
Lou offered me peace of mind when I encountered car trouble 200 miles from home. I stopped in after a warning light came on and Lou was kind enough to check over my vehicle and gave me the thumbs up to continue my trip. He’s a genuinely nice guy and if I lived in the area, I would trust him to service my vehicle. Thank you again Lou!
