I was in town with my son for the Cooperstown experience and my brakes went out. I called around and no one could help me out. Finally, someone told me to call over to Tom at McCarthy Tire…so I did. He asked me to bring it by and he’d look at it. He not only fixed my issue quickly but charged a very fair price and was very accommodating to a guy in town wanting to watch his son play ball, not deal with brake line issues. Very professional and a pleasure to know there are lots of great people out there willing to help. Thank you Tom!

I came in later in the day with a lawn mower tire that I needed to have changed. They went out of their way to make sure it was done: just prior to closing time. I felt they also went out of their way to give me a very fair price for the work.

We blew out a tire on our 5th Wheel Camper while we were on our way to vacation. McCarthy was so great with service and FAST with installing two new tires and changing the spare. Thank you!

Had a nys inspection done in aug and went to reregister my vehicle in jan and turns out i need to have it inspected because they messed up and didnt register with state so 5 months no inspection and the cost of having it reinspected. Mccarthy sucks. Edit. 1/23/24. Guys at mccarthy got me right back in and fixed a new ussue and made everything right again.

Reliable mechanics, come to you & explain the situation & tells you the price, try to compare when looking for prices on parts, does a great job. I trust the mechanic 100% & highly recommend them if looking for a good honest auto repair service

Got me in last min. Had the unicorn tire I needed and added an oil change. Out in 40mins without an appt. Everyone was working like a well oiled machine.

Had a tire blow out on our 5th while traveling. We managed to put our spare tire on but didn’t want to travel without a spare.Stopped here. Friendly and speedy service to put on two new tires. Highly recommend!

I had a blowout on my trailer.....drove to their store and had a re-capped tire installed.....still was charged road service rate. $748.53 for a recapped trailer tire!!!! Way to take advantage of people!!!!

It would really be a wonderful gesture if your company shows gratitude to Tom and Mike at the MC carthys in oneonta ny. I have everything done to my vehicles there and them guys are great. I even seen a customer being so so rude to Mike and mike held his composure and treated the customer with the upmost respect. ONE MOST IMPORTANT THING. If they make a mistake they honor there loyalty and fix the problem at no cost and with no hassle . great group of workers there.

We were on vacation with our RV van when one of our dually tires was damage. I called McCarthy Tire. They had to order the tire we needed, but they got it in, put it on and checked the air in our other tires within 7 hours. Great service and reasonable price. Thank you for saving our vacation!

Totally great Staff !! They come pick up my car, while I am at work and then return it,,,in better condition....My Cousin Tom is the Best !!

Not where I would go for my personal vehicle. This is where my company chooses to take their vehicles. They are on the pricey side. The staff is always pleasant to deal with though.

Nice friendly place good tires change rotate mount balance. oil change deductions when returning for next oil change. Inspections work on vehicles can be done there. Snacks and drinks vending machines and free coffee tire info and displays available in waiting room as well as chairs and a TV in the corner playing Jeopardy and wheel of Fortune. Services cars trucks and semis.

Scrap Metal wire in road blew my tire...I got it into NBT Bank parking lot and BJs couldn't fit me in. The manager of McCarthy came by by coincidence, gave me a lesson in getting on the donut and explained about McCarthys which was technically closed at that hour. As soon as I need new tires I'll drive from Albany to get them there in Oneonta!

Very professional and courteous. They let you know what our vehicle needed and gave us an accurate estimate. Great business people. I am sticking with them.

We have serious concerns regarding McCarthy's Tire Service in Oneonta, NY. Our son, Monty Crawley, Jr. has taken his vehicles to McCarthy's since purchasing his first vehicle in New York. He is not one to miss an oil change. In sub zero temperatures his car stopped running. He had to walk several miles. We are only thankful he was alone and his wife and children weren't in the vehicle. He purchased a new battery. When that wasn't the problem, he paid to have it towed to McCarthy's. They put in a new starter, said that wasn't the problem, the engine was. Was quoted various prices. Again, he paid out of pocket to have it towed to the original place of purchase where he also bought the warranty. There were days, because of the oil resembling sludge, that he didn't know if the warranty company woud pay causing he and his wife great stress. Yes, they are thankfully covering it. In the meantime, his wife missed a shift from work, he's paid for oil changes that do not appear to have been done and he is out two towing costs. Monty has done all we've told him to do including contacting and filing a complaint with the BBB and contacting the NY Attorney General's office. Could we possibly ask the name of the independent company sampling the oil? It is unfair to suggest another problem besides the oil since mechanics have ruled out any other issue with the vehicle. Keep in mind, his vehicle could have had the engine stop with him, his wife and our three grandchildren in the car at a busy intersection, etc. Obviously, we have grave concerns. I think it is more than fair to ask for the name of any company testing the sludge. Thank you-- Mr. and Mrs. Monty A Crawley, Sr.

I've been buying tires from this business for many years. I've always been very satisfied with a quality and speed of their work. They also give excellent advice about which tires to put on a particular vehicle. Very very happy with their service.

Very processional and old time friends work there which I didn't know until I went to get my oil changed. Great group of guys. Thanks for a great experience there....Kathy

For an hour job it took them 3 hours. I brought in my own shocks so taking out 4 bolts, even one with an issue shouldn't have been an issue. After over 2 hours he comes out and says one bolt is spinning (whatever that means). It's a bolt and a nut! I told him to cut it off and I got the deer in the headlight after he said he wouldn't be able to finish it. After demanding he cut it off and going 1/2 mile to dodge or lowes to get a bolt, he finally had it done. So because mechanics in general are scam artist, they feel the need to prey on people who don't know anything and hope that works in their favor. Again, a simple job took them 3 hours and since he couldn't make money on the parts he raked me in labor. Since it was pay or not get my keys, these idiots hold you hostage. His answer for three hours?........ Well that bolt took us longer than expected. Be ware people! Find a mechanic you can trust and won't take you for every last dime. Update!!!!! I was told after this review that I would get a full refund and never got it! I have a shop putting on a 6" lift and because these Incompetent idiots can't do their job and go get the correct bolt from a hardware store, they used a bolt with two square sides and splines.

If I could give this company zero stars, I would. I paid $1460 for a new heater core and a radiator. The catch? I was without my vehicle for THREE days. By the time I picked my car up, I expected everything to be smooth from there on out. I immediately noticed a rattle coming from underneath the dash from the drivers side when the guy finally picked us up to go pay. I was assuming it would subside. It actually got persistently worse; their reasoning? "With your car being old, in and out of the sun, its normal etc." Mind you, I have never heard this noise before in my years of owning my car. Talk about irritability. I was persistent in them fixing this rattle, and, apparently, their were two loose items they tightened but ultimately, did not fix the sound. You would assume one would double check their work on such major repairs, right? Wrong. My dash was also not put back in correctly (the part above my passenger door continuously pops out) & one of my vents got cracked. Also missing a piece that covers a button to my transmission. The only thing they were able to offer me was 5% refund of the total. A whopping $73 bucks. I was not going to let them rip my dash out again and keep my car for another day as I was afraid for what else might happen. Now, I have to live with this annoying sound, and my resentment for this company is always lingering in the back of my mind when I am driving. I've never been so regretful as to allowing McCarthys employees work on my car. The customer service was just as bad. Front end seemed very passive aggressive (even in a bit of denial) about my persistent attitude to getting to the bottom of things. Beware. Have your vehicle serviced elsewear for major repairs. Ps- don't bother calling the regional manager. You will be persistently ignored.
