My daughter goes to college in Oneonta. We live roughly 2.5 hours away. She was attempting to drive home for spring break and having truck trouble. We needed her truck to be towed home to bring to the local shop while she's home for the next week. After driving down to pick her up and waiting almost 5 hours for our roadside service through insurance to get a tow (only to get nowhere and hear the towing company didn't even have our info) I decided to call these guys. Josh is the best! Was on site picking up her truck within 20-30 minutes of me first calling him. And was also about $100 cheaper than roadside (with insurance paying for 50 miles!) Absolutely recommend!! Glad to know he's nearby, and extremely reasonably priced, if my daughter were to have any issues in the future! Thank you again SO MUCH for saving the day!!
If I could leave a minus star I would most horrible place I've ever had to deal with they are closed for 2c days that they had my car and I'm getting charged for storage I'm outraged I will get my money back plus when I take them to court don't recommend at all

I recently had car trouble while visiting Oneonta and looked up a mechanic to bring the car to for a quick check. I chose Thetford's because of the positive reviews and because they were "open" 24 hours/day. When I called, they were courteous and available so I took my care there. They fixed a minor problem and discovered a much bigger problem that made my car unsafe to drive. Ryan and Brian really took care of me, explained and showed me the issue and made suggestions of what to do to get the car home. The next day I realized it was too risky to make the 3.5 hour drive home so I called and decided to have them flatbed the car all the way home. My daughter and I drove in the cab with Ryan who was not only a true professional but also a pleasant riding companion! I cannot say enough good things about this business and Ryan and Brian who helped me get home safely. Any parents of Oneonta students experiencing car trouble and looking for a local mechanic, look no further!
Just got pulled out of my driveway. Guy said 15 minutes he would be there. There in less than 10. Paid less than quoted on the phone. Also probably the friendliest operator ive ever came in contact with. #impressive
So my car broke down in Davenport on Sunday 9/4 (I live 110 miles from there.) With the holiday I waited until today (9/6) to finish the call to my roadside assistance and order the tow. They set me up with Thetford's. When Tom called me for the remainder of the payment and to confirm where the car was being dropped off he told me in his 30+ years innthe area that he had never heard of the garage that was suggested to me. He told me to check into it a bit while he also looked into it for me and that he would call me back. When he did call me back we had both come to the same conclusion that there was not enough information available to where he thought bringing the car there was the best choice. I am 110% grateful that he cared enough to speak up in the first place. If he hadn't, I (yes foolishly) wouldn't have thought twice about having them drop the car off there, I just assumed the road side assistance would send me somewhere known and reliable. I have since learned from that ? so a million THANK YOUS to Thetford's for all of your help!
Recent repair was to some deep scrapes on the passenger side. The car came back from Thetford's Auto looking like new. Absolutely zero sign of that vehicle ever being in a repair shop - it looked the same before the damage. I was blown away by the quality of the repair.
They even offered to deliver the vehicle to me at work; a service I did not expect, but at that time it served as a very nice convenience and made my day easier AND my experience that much better!
The owner and staff are friendly and honest. They were booked up solid so I scheduled the work a few weeks in advance. The work was preformed as scheduled and it was worth the wait.

I purchased a brand new GMC Sierra from country club motors. The truck had a scratch on the drivers side passenger door. Country club assured me that they had the right body shop for the job but that wasn’t the case. My brand new truck had runs down it to the point where even members of country club were disgusted by it. I told them it wasn’t acceptable and they should have to fix it. I have had this truck back to them 3 times to make it right and end up getting more frustrated every time it comes back. They seem to not care how it looks after it is “finished”. I hope that this information pushes everyone that reads it away from this company. Take a little pride in your work. Just a heads up country club still sends them vehicles.
We broke down at night on I88 just outside Oneonta and they were there in about 10 minutes with both a rollback for our damaged truck and another truck to tow our trailer. Courteous, thorough and very reasonably priced. I completely recommend them.
I don't think I would go anywhere else for body repair. I have been a multi-car customer for years. Whether a deer strike or a fender bender, my car always looks like the day I bought it when they are done. They do timely and meticulous work at a fair price.
Constantly enjoy having my vehicles taken care of at Thetfords. The staff and owner go above and beyond. My daughter was stuck in the recent snow storm and the employees helped her and got her safely back to Oneonta. I have had my car fixed from hitting a deer to getting my winter tires there. Certainly best shop in the area.
