Macy’s is absolutely enormous — you could spend hours there and still not see everything! The selection is great and the products are good quality, but the store layout feels overwhelming. It’s so big that it’s easy to get lost between departments, and finding what you need can take a while. Perfect for those who love to browse, but not ideal if you’re looking for a quick shopping trip.
Christmas season is probably the best time to visit this place. It’s just so festive and the shopping discounts are really good. Make sure to add this in your diary when you’re visiting NY around Christmas.
Finally after several trips to NYC, we finally got to shop here. The store is a behemoth. 8 and 1/2 floors of retail you'll probably see in your puny local Macy's 6 months from now. There's an 8-bank elevator system in the middle. Careful not to get whiplash from trying to figure out which elevator is pinging you. Or ride up the classic Otis escalators with wooden sides. Super cool! Shoe fan? Visit the Shoe Salon. It's pretty much the entire floor. Friends I know would wet their pants here. Don't want to pack your purchases into your bulging suitcase? Ship it FREE from any register, it's the norm. Watch out for some of those salespeople... They're like sharks to get the credit!

If your in NYC its definately worth visiting. Comparable to Selfridges in London UK.
You have to go to Macy's when in New York. Had to visit the Christmas displays which were beautiful. Loved the original wooden escalators going to the upper floors.
Expensive, huge. Fun vintage escalators. Great place to window shop and find something for a special event. I loved it there. I can’t wait to go back.

Going on a trip and needed to replace my Samsonite luggage that I've had forever. Have been doing some research online and went into Macy's to check out my findings.
Ishrak greeted me and I explained that I was looking to replace my old luggage. Instead of trying to upsell me on some Tumi, she listened to what was important to me... cost, quality, and design. She explained the difference between hard shell vs soft. She is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We discussed and compared everything from Samsonite to Tumi and everything in between.
Finally decided on the Briggs and Riley Baseline Series with ballistic nylon (soft exterior). It checked all the boxes and It has a lifetime warranty. Slightly more expensive than some of the other models, but definitely not the most expensive either.
She shipped them directly to my home and they arrived today. If they fall apart, will update this post... otherwise, pretty confident in this purchase.
I still tell my kids and grandkids that I am only 32 but I have known this store for over 40 years. Great place to shop. This is the Macy’s flagship department store. For a longtime, this was the largest department store in the world. Maybe it’s still is. You can almost find everything in this iconic store. The store is so big, you can spend the entire day here. Make sure you have a lot of money but you also have great prices and bargains. Only in New York City !

Macy’s Herald Square offers a huge variety of products across 9 floors, from clothing and shoes to home goods. The old wood escalators add a charming, nostalgic feel to the shopping experience.
One downside is that the floor layout is inconsistent — men’s and women’s sections don’t follow the same pattern, i.e. men and women shoes are on different floors, which can be confusing. Staff are generally helpful, but navigating the store requires patience.
What can one say about Macy’s that hasn’t been said already? All your quality clothing, shoe and home requirements under one roof. I initially found the store size intimidating, and restricted myself to one floor per visit until it became familiar. The most under marketed is their personal stylist service AT NO EXTRA COST! I was struggling to pick a special occasion outfit and was assigned a stylist called Sara…AWESOME. I have since visited repeatedly for seasonal transition and wardrobe revamp pieces and have been extremely pleased. Please try their a personal stylist service and thank me later.
You have to come here to say you've been here. It's a cool experience - enjoyed it. It is very large with many levels. There's a small amount of food options on each level. If you're thinking Harrod's in London - don't. Similar concept but not even close.

I shop at my local Macy's which has 2 floors. A very wide store I think it has about 3 or 4 entrances on each floor. This is Macy's of all Macy's the mother of all locations 9 floors, I was very impressed! With restaurants inside to meet all budgets from McDonalds to fine dining. I did not get a chance to venture from floor to floor however I did make it to the 7th floor for Backstage. Found a good suitcase for a decent price.

It’s such a smart setup—they’ve created a relaxing pocket in the middle of chaos. Tourists, locals, shoppers… everyone passes through this space, and there’s a real city-life energy to it
We made a coach purchase & then saw the Dubai strawberries!! If you've never had them & don't understand why they're $25, please just try them. You will fall in love w/them.
I'm a Union Millwright and love unique mechanical devices. This escalator was built in 1904. Amazing ingenuity for it's time.

Macy’s on 34th is an iconic, great place to shop. There’s a lot to choose from just like most Macy’s stores I’ve visited but definitely has that NYC flair. It was busy as I had expected. Prices were on the high end as I expected. Many floors to check out. However, the ambience made this Macy’s hit a little different. The storefront is beautiful set up for you to relax for a minute and enjoy your afternoon. A band was setting up to play music. Of course there are fifty billion other places to shop all up and down 5th Avenue and the surrounding area, but Macy’s is another spot that if you’re gonna visit NY, make sure you stop through and enjoy the miracle and the moment. I had a great experience at the Men's Department at Macy's, thanks to Nusrat! I went in to purchase tuxedos for my brothers for my upcoming wedding, and she was incredibly helpful and patient as I discussed sizes with my brothers over the phone. She offered great style recommendations and made the process so much easier. I also accidentally left my jacket behind, but when I called the next day, another associate was kind enough to help me retrieve it in Lost and Found with no hassle. Additionally, a lovely young lady in the men’s shoe section assisted me with picking out the perfect pair of shoes for them. Overall, the staff went above and beyond. Thank you for the excellent service!

Was there during the macys flower show. It was beautiful and any store I visited the customer care was top notch. I bought the Clarins lip oil and the lady was so helpful.

But last time I was buying shoes, the salesperson suggested I open a store credit card to get 25% off “today and tomorrow.” But it wasn’t really “today”! I had to wait for approval, wait for the card to arrive in the mail, and maybe then I could use it for the discount.
Also, I think every time you apply for a credit card, it can lower your credit score.
The discount may be combined with other discounts.
Tip: Check the store’s website before buying—sometimes you can find the item cheaper online if there’s an ongoing discount!
What a wonderful store They claim to be biggest store in the world, I don't question that but 7 floors near times square new York means a lot. More than a store it's a tourists place. As you enter the store it's floral theme will welcome you with sweet fragrance and beautiful flowers some real flowers some artificial. Each floor has it's on surprises. Think of a premium brand and high end boutique it's present here. Clothes are priced at high end even after discounts. But it is a place to be. Jimmy Choo, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Coach, Gucci, Prada
4.75 stars. The only negative is the temperature! Hard to shop when you are sweating. But absolutely love the store and the makeup section. Almost surreal to see it in person after watching the parade for so long. And don't miss the incredible wooden escalators! The Starbucks staff is really nice, too.

Absolutely huge departmental store - probably largest in NYC and spanning over 8 whopping floors with probably 100s of brands. They are mainly luxury and branded goods which covers the bulk of the first few floors - hardly any on offer unless you are really lucky. As you proceed upwards, there are more areas with discounts (can be up to 70% off).
Worth a visit for the experience and hype or just some good window shopping. Reminds me slightly of Harrods from the UK (although this is a much tamer version). Staff are all friendly and counters were very efficient given the number of cashiers present. Exterior designs are really well done and inviting - gives off a very posh vibe and definitely catches the eye of the regular passer-by! They have a very unique wooden escalator too around the seventh or eight level. There are a couple of F&B outlets within this massive layout too so don’t worry about being hungry at all!
