My ‘88 VW Vanagon was leaking gasoline (!!). A Mini Cooper owner I know recommended Foreign Car Specialists in Poughkeepsie (located close to the Walkway Over The Hudson). They replaced a defective cap on the fuel pressure regulator and discovered other problems I was unaware of, including a crack in the muffler and bare wires in the engine compartment. The repair work was fast, expertly done, and more than reasonably priced. I’m so happy to have found this shop. Many to Alex of Foreign Car Specialists!

These guys really know their stuff. Super friendly too! I'm from out of town and needed some suspension work before driving over 2000 miles back home and they were willing to take on the job quickly and professionally. It's rare nowadays to find a shop that will help with working on older European vehicles, but these are the folks who will do it no problem! Wish they were in my hometown!

I stopped in to foreign car specialists with my 2007 bmwx3 due to a break issue. The staff was very thorough and gave me a quote that was very reasonable. They squeezed me the next day and the estimate was exactly what i paid not a penny more. When i picked ip my car they also showed me videos of tue work completed and showed me videos of 2 other issues that need to be fixed. This automotive shop has become my new mechanic they are very trustworthy and honest. I recommend them

Great car service. I've gone twice since we moved here to the Washngton Avenue location. Alex at the front desk is very genial and welcoming. The atmosphere is good as the mechanics come in and out of the front room to confer on parts or repair jobs. You hear "thank you" a lot in these exchanges. So far it's been routine oil changes and winterizing but soguymething bigger is alway down the road with cars. We'll be coming back then. This is my first time using these guys, for a New York state inspection. They were so friendly and got me right in at our prearranged time. They did a great job and I even appreciated the banter I had with the owner, we're both Star Wars fans. All in all I love these guys and I will use them again.

I have a vintage car that I have been very careful about who I hire as a mechanic, and I was thoroughly impressed with the team here. Alex was a detailed communicator who talked me through what was really needed vs something I should monitor in the future. He gave me regular updates as Kevin investigated some tricky engine issues. In the end, they solved the problem plus discovered some things that other mechanics missed in the past. They have gained a loyal customer here! My car hasn't driven this well in years! Thank you!

Took two cars here to get a pre purchase inspection and they did and incredibly thorough job and advised me with the right path to take. And also advocated on my behalf to the sales person to replace things on the car that needed replacing before I purchased it. Would absolutely come here again

Alex is super communicative and did a great job diagnosing and fixing my Range Rover. Been having trouble finding mechanics to help with my car - apparently many are scared to deal with range rovers - but this was no problem. Thanks guys!

Kevin and Lisa are top notch in customer service! Got a second opinion from them on a major repair. Their quote was a few hundred less than the other guy and they found a bad part from an oil change I got 2 days prior. Not only did they replace that part but saved the oil so I didn’t have to pay to replace all that oil. Taking my car to them from now on!

Great work done in a timely fashion. I have an 18 year old Audi that was having problems with its air conditioner. They diagnosed my problem quickly and, like a good doctor, followed the "do no harm" approach by recommending only the work that was needed. They charged a fair and reasonable price and finished the work on time.

Great service for the most part. Very communicative and gave me a ride after I dropped off my car in morning. They left a loose car part on top of windshield. It took a minute to research where the piece goes and it turned out it connected to the wipers from underneath the hood. It didn’t cause damage to my car and turned out to be an easy self fix. Still recommend ?

Excellent customer service. Absolutely no wait. Responded quickly to every text. I love and appreciate the photos and video they sent with the issues I had with my vehicle. Excellent communication, extremely clean. I took my ‘73 Volkswagen for a brake repair and an evaluation. I promptly received a list of work that could be done, with priority included, cost estimates for the work, pictures of the problem areas, a video, and a place for me to sign off on the work I wanted completed. The price was very fair, the work was excellent and probably the best service done on my car. I trust these folks with my vintage car, and I trust them to give me a fair price for the work. Would recommend!!!

The sign on the front of the building which states “Voted Best Mechanic in the Hudson Valley” absolutely speaks for itself. Timely repairs were completed in addition to repairs that were called in after my 1984 Corvette was dropped off. Will definitely return for more service. “I’ll be back”??
