Definitely go to this repair shop. Friendly, honest and excellent service. A shop you can trust. I went there because my AC wasn't working and an oil change. They did a great job of doing both. Couldn't be more pleased with Alternative Car Care.

This place is great. They found and fixed an intermittent no start problem with my Mustang. Crisis averted. I highly recommend this customer friendly auto shop. My rear view mirror fell off the windshield. I stopped in to the shop without an appointment. I stopped in with low air pressure thinking it was a nail he put the car on the rack didn’t find anything and refused to charge. Never seen them more honest shop. They got a customer for life. If you want to go to reliable honest service station this is the one.

I was in town for a basketball tournament and happen to run over a screw. Was recommended this place by a local. They were great. I was able to get my car looked at and worked on right away. They were able to take care of my tire, noticed a different problem with my tire and fixed that right away. They were extremely polite and explained everyone to me.

Great experience today. I am visiting from out of state and my check engine light went on in my car. Worried about driving the car 200+ miles home, I called Alternative around 4:30 yesterday and explained my dilemma. Bill said to bring it over first thing in the morning and he would run a diagnostic scan to determine problem. When I arrived, he immediately greeted me and was able to diagnose my issue within minutes. Luckily for me, it's not a serious issue and my car is safe to drive until I can get into my regular mechanic back home. Best part - he didn't charge me a dime. What amazing service ! I visit this area often, and will absolutely return if I ever need service again.

A++ customer service. From the very 1st phone call in scheduling a routine maintenance & oil change for my vehicle to a week later when the service was actually done, I received stellar treatment. This was my 1st visit & I was not disappointed. Bill was very professional & knowledgeable. After all was said & done, he even complimented how great of condition my car was in. Also, the price was very fair. Less than half of what if typically pay @ the dealership. I'm very pleased, would recommend them to my friends and family and will definitely be back.😊

Had them do an inspection for vehicle I was looking to buy. It was very detailed and gave me tons of insight and looked at things for that others had skipped over. Very happy with the service. Hands down the best mechanic out there. Bill, his wife, and Jerry are the nicest people you will meet. They are very helpful, honest and provide great service. They take their time to explain whats wrong and the work that needs to be done. Alternative Car Care is the only place I trust to have work done. Never had a problem after they worked on my truck.

Jerry is very knowledgeable and honest. He takes time to make sure customers understand the problem and the solution. He explains it in layman terms so anyone can understand what’s going on. I was on vacation and the dreaded check engine light came on. I am somewhat handy so I stopped at Advanced Auto and borrowed their code reader (free) to get the codes from my 2006 BMW X3. I pulled codes P0171 (bank 1 system too lean) and P0174 (bank 2 system too lean). I then Googled these codes and researched on YouTube to get more information which is basic handyman troubleshooting 101. I learned that there are a couple things that can throw these codes and I did not have the tools, time and knowhow to really diagnose and fix the problem. This was on Saturday about 4:00pm the day before I was going to drive 4hrs back to VA and I was not going to drive without knowing what was going on and do more damage by driving. A friend told me about Jerry and Alternative Car Car. Very few shops are open on Sundays, but this place was and they got me in first thing Sunday AM after explaining my situation. Jerry ran some tests and explained that it’s running lean which means essentially the engine is getting too much air. There are several things that can cause this like a cracked hose for example and that unmetered air is getting in after the Mass Airflow Sensor. He said that it’s ok to drive the car, but def. should get it checked out and fixed when I get home. We left the next day and got home without any issues. I again watched some YouTube videos to save money and fix it myself. I did a smoke test (after rigging a device together, again YouTube) and found where the air was getting in. I took the old DISA off and found that it was not an OEM BMW part. I went to the dealership and bought a new BMW OEM DISA and cleared the codes. The check engine light has not come back on since. The fact that I took the time to wright this long positive review, as most people only take the time to write a review when they have a negative experience, should tell you how solid this place is! Thank you Jerry and Alternative Car Care for getting my wife and I home safe!

NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE! These guys are the absolute BEST! My boyfriend and I moved to the area about a year ago and stumbled upon this place when looking to get his oil changed. Each of our cars are about 12 years old and starting to need repairs, and no matter the problem Alternative Car Care has been there for us to get the job done quickly, honestly, and fairly! I know diddly about cars, but I do know that every time I have had car trouble, I've brought it to Alternative Car Care and the problem has been solved, usually in a day or two, even in a short-notice crisis. They are some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet, will keep you updated every step of the way, and will have you back on the road good as new before you know it!

Alternative Car Care is amazing! Best auto repair shop I have ever experienced. I think I have become so used to getting ripped off by dealership service centers that I didn't think there was much else around. I stumbled into Alternative Car Care by accident and I will not go any where else ever again. If you care about honesty, trust and transparency then Alternative Car Care is the right spot for you - you will not be disappointed. I rarely write reviews but I have been so happy every time I have been there, that I felt like I had too!

I love love love this place. My dad swore by them. I like to say they're the family doctor for our car babies. Bill and the staff are the nicest people; they really take their time to get to know you so it feels personal and it's like they treat your car like they'd treat their own. I remember one time my hubcap was coming off and they put it back on for free. Routine maintenance for my 2003 Toyota Corolla is around $50 and they also offer lots of discounts and coupons throughout the year. Yesterday I took advantage of a winter special coupon where they performed an oil filter lube service, checked the charging system, front and rear brakes, and replaced my windshield wiper blades for $100. I can't ask for anything more. I hope you guys see this! Keep it up!

I cannot rave about these guys enough. I have twice brought cars in and both times received professional, kind, attentive service. They are upfront, honest, and patiently tell you everything going on with your vehicle, which is amazing for someone like me, who knows next to nothing about cars. In an industry consumers tend to mistrust and begrudge going to, Alternative Car Care is a breath of fresh air unlike most other auto repair shops. I mostly dealt with Bill, who exemplifies everything I've said here, but everyone I've spoken to or interacted with there is just as wonderful. They have made a customer for life (along with anyone else I can tell). Highly, highly recommend.

I highly recommend Alternative Car Care. They are friendly and accommodating but more importantly HONEST. I will never hesitate to bring my vehicle to Alternative Car Care at any time. I runs a used car lot called Surf Auto Brokers llc in Lake Como NJ. I drove a 2005 Ford Ranger Pick Up to these guys for a customer about to purchase. I as usual always have skepticism with mechanics who seem more like politicians these days. I was pleasantly surprised to find these guys have old fashioned integrity. They are as honest as they come and knowledgeable. I watched three different customers come in and out while I waited for my truck to get checked. I actually heard them give the customers honest advice. Where most places would try to sell a repair they told the customers what they found and in many case that the repair was not needed. This is the best service place in the entire state of NJ. When you do a repair here it needs to be repaired and if it doesn't they will let you know. Congratulations guys you are as good as they come.

This is one of the best establishments to have your car serviced, bar none. They have been working on my cars since 1992. Honest, well trained staff, that explains everything to you in detail and shows you the worn or broken parts. In fact one time I broke down was towed to them, they called me up and said, "I looked at your registration and if my calculations is correct? The computer is still under warranty for 10 more days." They were correct and dealership replaced a $1400 computer at no charge, only because of the honesty of Jerry the owner, would I have ever known that. I read some review of not liking women?? That is so far from the truth, I have a wife and two daughters, all of them have there cars serviced and have never ever not been treated without the utmost respect. Having a great mechanic in your life, is one less thing you will need to worry about, if you become a customer of Alternative Car Care!

STAY AWAY ESPECIALLY WOMEN!!! The owner Jerry is a smooth talker....He claims they have State of the ArT Diagnostic Equipment. They do not have certified Mechanics to operate them. It took them 5 hours to Diagnose my 2005 Jeep Liberty and another 2 hours to install it. A wopping 1,500.00 later and the Jeep was still not fixed. I had to get it towed there 2 months later for same problem. He was unable to fix it. I brought it to Jeep and they fixed it in 1hr. $ 135.00 later. The Service Advisor told me that the Jeep should have been diagnosed in an hour and an hour to fix. When I told the owner Jerry, he said Jeep took a wild guess!!!!! REALLY!!! I highly recomend Chysler Jeep Lakewood, NJ~ Jim~Service advisor.

I have been going there for many years and I have never had a problem with their work. All my vehicles are all over 100,000 miles and Jerry keeps them running like the day they were new. When there is a problem Jerry will take the time to explain it to me and he will always give an estimate before any work is done. Kathy keeps the office running smoothly and she has a great attitude ..... a fun person to chat with
