Misdiagnosed the issue with my car and drug the process out for months with me having to keep taking my car back for them to fix Ababa honor their two-year warranty (that they bragged about in the beginning). Ultimately, they ghosted me and never responded to my inquiries about what their findings were. I had to buy a new car and the dealership told me what the actual problem was with my old car that Decatur Pro Auto should have easily been able to figure out. Now I'm out almost $2,000 and they still fail to provide record of their findings to this very day. Avoid Decatur Pro Auto Repair – Dishonest, Unreliable, and Unprofessional
My experience with Decatur Pro Auto Repair has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I’ve spent over $2,000 with them, and instead of fixing my vehicle, it’s gotten worse. The same issues I brought in with in April are still present today, plus additional problems that arose after their repairs—like rough idling and a loud rumbling noise while stopped. I’ve brought these concerns to them, but they have been dismissive and unhelpful every time.
Despite multiple visits under warranty, they were unsure of the root cause after several failed repair attempts. They verbally admitted they couldn’t properly diagnose or fix the ongoing issues, but they never documented this, even when I specifically requested it from Steve. Their lack of transparency and honesty is troubling.
Most concerning was what happened just four days after I picked up my car on August 16, 2025. Despite Steve’s assurance that they couldn’t replicate or figure out the problem, my car suddenly displayed warning lights, started bucking, and lost power while I was driving with my son again. I documented the symptoms, and it was clear the issues persisted and were dangerous. I ultimately had to take my car to a dealership because Decatur Pro Auto Repair couldn’t resolve the problems or provide a clear explanation.
Beyond their poor repair record, they are not honest in their practices. They don’t document repairs consistently—seemingly strategizing their communication by picking and choosing when they respond. They push communication through their app but then selectively ignore follow-up requests. They rarely answer the phone reliably, making it difficult to get updates or answers.
And don’t fall for their bragging about a “2-year warranty.” Human nature kicks in when you have to actually use it. They get tired of your repeated visits, and you’ll get tired of bringing your car back over and over again. Each time, they hold your car for days, force you to make appointments, or keep you waiting.
Overall, I strongly advise against using Decatur Pro Auto Repair. They lack transparency, honesty, and professionalism. Save yourself time, money, and frustration—find a more reliable mechanic.
1st and last visit.
Brakes noises right after brake repair, claimed suspension as cause, no mention of suspension at original pickup. Kept car over 36 hrs for this "check" no phone updates, nothing. My calls went straight to vm. No call back.no callbacks. Really bad experience.
Took my car to Steve on a Saturday morning, three weeks ago, as I had received a referral from a friend of mine concerning needing a quote for some paint work and repair, cosmetically, after a neighbor side swiped my front bumper.
Steve came out and took photos of the damage, and I asked him about fixing two other cosmetic issues with my car, separate from the minor accident damage.
He took photos of everything, and said he would create three different estimates for the work and send them later that afternoon, after talking with his son, who runs the body shop.
Three weeks later, after a follow up email to Steve, and no estimates, etc. No e-mail response or phone call.
I guess he’s not interested in my business. It would have been great had he told me that upfront, instead of taking photos and promising me he’d get the quote to me later that afternoon.
I came to the shop just to get an idea of when/if I could bring my old truck in to assess damage from another shop. Not planning on getting anything done today as it’s mid afternoon. Someone came to the lot and crawled under the vehicle to check out my problem to see if it’s something they would work on and someone else promptly volunteered to get it on a lift to better assess. Very kind and informative people. Would recommend.
I was very satisfied with the work performed on my vehicle. I appreciated that they took the time to really look at the vehicle and give me a quote up front that was accurate. I have had plenty of experiences at other shops where I was underquoted up front then charged more at the final invoice. It was nice to not have to deal with that for a change! The first time I went to pick it up, there were some small things that needed to be touched up/adjusted, but they took care of it. A few small things leftover from their work were not totally cleaned up, and I had to clean out my car a (small) bit, which is the only reason they lost one star. Generally, the work we discussed was done well and within the time frame that they told me. They were great about communication! I will go back if I need work done in the future!
I wholeheartedly recommend them. Theodore worked with me on the repairs to our car, gave me a reasonable estimate, and finished the work ahead of schedule. The car looks great.
First things seemed good my car needed a new starter but had broke down at the gas station across the street. It wouldn’t crank so they had to get it towed to there shop which I believe the tow company or their company pulled something from under my car because now it is hanging from the bottom my car never had anything hanging from beneath it until I went to pick it up from them. Secondly record your conversation with them! Every time I called I was told something different my multiple people and they never put the notes in your file in their system so they act like they don’t remember what they tell you!
Decatur Auto pro, use to be a great place to take your car a few years ago, now I wouldn’t recommend. This year my car was serviced twice, back in March they first quoted me a price which I agreed with then went in and did some extra stuff without asking and charge 600 more than what we agreed, of course that was disputed with the manager. They stated it was some leaks in the hose and they repair but found another leak . When the vehicle got home, I noticed smoke from the muffler, now fast forward, to July 1, my car is overheating all I needed was a coolant reservoir. They state that was not the problem I have a gasket leak. My car was running fine when I dropped it off, I can drive down 85 without an issue. when I picked it up because I wanted a second opinion, my car will barely drive off the lot or handle back roads or go above 30 mph, it’s shaking and have some type of fume burning. This is all new from when I dropped it off. Steve stated because I have a leak it will get worse but why did my worse start at the shop. Please don’t go here, I was charged for a diagnostic test and out of a car less than 24 hours of dropping it off at Decatur Auto Pro. I don’t do many reviews but please try another shop.
I love this place! So trustworthy, reliable, and timely. I’ve had a couple repairs done here and it’s always quick and economical. Communication is transparent and consistent. I genuinely wish all repair shops conducted business in this manner.
I have been a customer at Decatur Auto Pro for about a year with varying problems when it comes to being their customer. Their work is decent but scheduling a time to come in can be hectic, and they almost always want to keep your vehicle for at least a day if not longer. I've had a number of problems regarding timeline to fixing my car and even losing my car keys. Generally, they're very friendly mechanics that will explain all issues with decently priced repairs, but ultimately the long wait to even get scheduled with other communication problems resulted in me going elsewhere for repairs.
Reception staff are super courteous and help make sure everything's set up right for when you get there. The staff are very knowledgeable and do honest work at a good price. I'll definitely be coming back here in the future for any more work on my truck! Also special thank you to Steve for the nice chat when I picked up the vehicle! ☢️⚓
Great experience! This is the first time I've used them for my car. It broke down nearby and had to be towed to their location after hours. I found them by necessity, but got very lucky. The cost was surprisingly low and the customer service was great!
We've worked with several Atlanta-area mechanics. Decatur Pro Auto Repair continues to be honest, fair, and clear every time we work with them. They've accommodated several day-of appointments when able to. We've never had an issue with their service. We highly recommend!
Excellent service Steve and his son are a great working team. They were able to quickly diagnose my power steering problem on my 2009 Chevrolet Silverado and get it fixed promptly at a reasonable price . Communication is outstanding with the software system They have in place keeps you updated with pricing and estimated completion time . they were get me quickly back on the road thank you!

I'm not from Atlanta, and I picked it due to its proximity to where I'm staying. I had replaced my battery-- which I did by myself.
Then realized that my alternator was shot.
The scheduler couldn't have been nicer and was able to work me in for a repair the next day. They finished the job while I waited.
Very courteous, knowledgeable, and the price was very reasonable. They even found a couple of minor issues which I hadn't noticed. (Radiator hose & cap). Of course , they asked me if it was ok to go ahead. I'm impressed and so relieved. Thank you very much. If I'm in this area again i hope I don't need a repair, but if I do I know where to
go!
I had a negative experience with a company that refused to service me and treated me poorly over a minor issue. I needed to get my headlight replaced, but unfortunately, the business right across the street from me refused to help. It's disappointing that I can't get my car or work van serviced there. I want to caution others to stay away from this company if they are a person of color. I want to clarify that I didn't give any attitude or disrespect, I just wanted to share my experience.
Go to “Auto Air Plus” if you are in the area instead. They were able to get me in and out in no time and take care of me. I’ve seen other people go to them as well and they all said great things. Hispanic owned.
They used to be a great shop, but my latest experience with them - well - let's just say I have lined up another auto shop to maintain my vehicles.
If you're looking for a good mechanic who won't forget to work on your car and doesn't try to upsell you, there are plenty of other mechanics in town.
It's a shame to see service levels take such a dismal tumble from a once great shop.
Look elsewhere for a good mechanic.
This place was very efficient, super friendly & very informative. I went in for an oil change, got me in immediately at a very affordable price ($55 full-synthetic) & added air to my tires. They also gave me a quick diagnosis of a few things I need to get done soon. All in all, definitely recommend. Avondale Estates, you have a great shop in your neighborhood.
They fixed part of my car issues for a fraction of what the dealership and my mechanic quoted. WORDS OF WISDOM: DO NOT leave your car overnight here. I was told my catalytic converter was stolen and they had to replace it. No police report or warranty was given to me on the part so hopefully I will not have problems during my emissions. I now have to spend more money to have my car inspected. You never know what other parts were taken off my car and replaced with junk parts. Just rather be safe than 10 months later than sorry. Don't leave you car anywhere overnight unless you absolutely trust it is secure.
These people do damn good work. They took the dent out of my bumper, after some careless idiot ran into me last week. And they washed and cleaned my car, inside and out before getting it back to me. I got my car back before I had the chance to miss it! If you decide to use these guys, tell them I sent you!
I visited the shop on 8/20 after reading reviews on google for several repair shops. I called before going with general questions and the young man was courteous and honest. Upon arrival I was met by a mechanic (assuming the owner). He was pleasant. I told him the issue, he did a quick diagnostic and told me the issue (I was advised something more expensive from someone else). He had me own my way within a hour. I will return for my recommended tune up (which I know I desperately need). They were professional and the customer service was great. Not only for me but from what I’m witnessed of other patrons.
Thank God for Teddy & Steve! The dealership had my car for 3 days, nothing, another shop said it was the battery, no ma'am Pam car still shutting off for no reason. Steve had my car for all of 10min and not only knew what the issue was but was ordering the part to get me on th road! Thanks Steve!
