The worst scrap yard in the area. They don’t pay well at all. And they don’t take refrigerators. They took one of our bins, and didn’t pay us for it. We only went there bc everywhere else was closed for the holidays. Avoid going there…you will get a lot less…

I stopped in a few weeks ago, it was easy and quick. One question though, do y'all take tinned copper?

I pulled up with a truck full of metal, it appeared to be very obvious i was trying to scrap it. No one greets me, I walk into the building 4 employees sitting around doing nothing, no one say anything to me. i have to ask them do you want to buy my scrap metal, they look puzzled and surprised, and they come to my truck and look at it as if they didnt see me pull up with a truck full of metal. I load the metal by myself while the 4 employees continue to do nothing. the extremely heavy carts that my metal was loaded on where numbered but the lady wasnt quite sure what the cart weighed so she made some phone calls. To me it wasnt clear what the carts weighed but she went with some numbers. And then comes the bad part of my experience, as if that wasnt bad enough. They told me they were only going to give me half of what they previously told me they were going to give me on the phone. So not only are the unfriendly and unwelcoming, they are shady hustlers trying to unethically make money on you.

I won’t even go due to your review. It appears lies take place here and hopefully people like this go out of business

The best payout in the area I have found, but I feel the scale is off. It was Fast and friendly but not sure what happened as they don't seem like they are anymore.

These guys are awesome! By far the best and the only place you should recycle your scrap metal! I've been at least 3 times already and every time the service is exceptionally fast and the staff there are so friendly, with very contagious smiles! I'm no professional scrapper but anyone who wrote a negative review about being ripped off probably didn't do enough research on their own about their metals and the market because they offer fantastic prices for your recycled scrap!

This is a great place to recycle your scrap metal. The place is very clean, you don't have to worry about getting a nail in your tire like other scrap yards. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They get you signed in and you're out the door in a timely manner. Keep up the good work! ??

I love STR. I won't go anywhere else to scrap. They are always so friendly and nice to talk to. We have become very fond of summer she is amazing and helpful. The friendliest scrappers around. Love them

This place is awesome.The rates are competitive and I don't have to travel far because it's in the same county I live in Honest management great staff .polite informative.

STR is my favorite place to go! They pay the best in town! Summer is my go to when I stop in, always a delight! Karen is a gem at check in and the guys are more than happy to help when the load is heavy! I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Don't waste your time here. They will gaslight bulls hit about law Edit. Still gaslight from owner. I looked up law as current. There isn't any law that illegal for me to sell you scrap metal. Again quit gaslight people.

I had some boxes in my pick up truck, totalling 300lbs. She tells me to go stop on the scale leading me to believe that I'm paying by, weight so dropped my trash , re weight and was shocked at being charged a 40 dollar minimum, they failed to mention a minimum. If you have a minimum, it's only polite to let people know, before you spring it on them.

This is the best place in the area for boating metals (stainless and aluminum). Almost every metal project I've done over the last 5 years has been with recycled materials from STR and has saved me time and lots of money. I highly recommend this company.

Super friendly and helpful everytime my husband and I go. Ester always goes above and beyond to help me whenever I need help. (even when I don't ask and she sees me struggling...lol). All the workers are very pleasant overall it has a good vibe and welcoming friendliness about it.The cash you make is an added bonus.

You can never please everyone and with that said. They are organized and efficient . Great service, great people. Been there a long time. most write bad reviews because they don't get what they want. This place is awesome!

Was very impressed by the efficiency and how helpful the folks there were. We should all try and do our part to get whatever we can over here. Unfortunately we don't have many choices for recycling in our area. They make it much easier. And you can actually make money off of it if you're industrious!

My 1st time here will be my LAST. I arrived right before there lunch time. I didnt know they closed up for lunch, nor did they explain it to me when I arrived. The man at the front said I 'made it' when I apologised for doing so. I checked in with the lady in the office trailer and she told me they would be right with me. She slams the window shut and disappears. The other staff did the same thing and made some $hitty comments about there lunch break. So I waited 35 minutes at the front for them to finally weigh my cart of metal and give me $7. It took them 2 minutes. Now, while im waiting they helped a few other people, who were buying stuff. Not me of course. Rude a$$ staff with $hitty attitudes. Ironically, my buddy has to demo. a bunch of buildings close to the area, he asked me to let him know how the place was...we are now going to a competitor thats further away. Ill never come back, you all can keep your attitudes.

These guys are very knowledgeable in all aspects of ferrous and non-ferrous metals! They offer competitive pricing on scrap and they have the best pricing for new metal also. The employees here are quick to help make the wait times minimal and overall it’s a very efficiently ran business. I highly recommend STR for all scrap and new metal needs!

i have been going to STR for over a quarter of a century. Do they always have the best price in town? Not always. if you have a bunch of 316 stainless you might get quoted a better price in tarpon or tampa - but not by much. If you have 2000 lbs it might be worth the drive for the extra nickle a pound, but not for 'consumer' quantities of scrap. Tell them what you were quoted, sometimes they can match it. That said, these guys are as honest as the day is long. Anyone who thinks they are getting ripped off doesnt understand how scrap works (like the woman complaining that there was 'only' a few ounces of bronze in her aluminum engine block.) I KNOW scrap. Ive sold hundreds of tons of scrap over the years. Tom and Ralph (and everyone else at STR) know what they are talking about!

I don't know why all the negative reviews, then again I never sold them scrap. I strictly buy new material for hobby projects. Now I go even more often because my oldest is in a welding program at his school. Their prices kill the big box stores. The only draw back is they are very busy, I mean very busy. They have also seen the gammit of customers. That would make me a little bitter too. You have to remember they are a commercial orientated business. So I have learned when I worked as an engineer that the big orders have to take priority. Remember people that one commercial order will out sell a whole days worth of homeowners orders. That's why a place like this normally does not cater to us smaller fellows. I learned to take my time with them and there will never be an issue. I appreciate the hard work that they put in and get tired just watching them. In case you are wondering, I do not work there, not a fake review, 100% genuine. For those selling scrap steel, steel isn't even worth the price of gas to sell, it costs so much to resmelt and clean. Aluminum and brass are the only recyclable metals worth smelting. I actually do it at home myself with a countertop forge, $400 dollors at Amazon. Then I will small parts for my truck etc. With it. So take that into account when you are worried about your prices, and yes any material not aluminum, such as brass guides makes it dirty aluminum.

I buy steel from here and the prices are much better than the larger suppliers further south. My only complaint is they're not open on weekends so I have to leave work early to pick up my order during the week. A small price to pay for supporting a local shop.

I went here today for the first time with copper bars. Tested beforehand with magnets, cut in half and grinded. 100% copper. Two broads, younger one friendlier and older one with the personality of a kumquat assisted me. Older one said my copper bars were steel and offered $10 for everything I had. These people here are scam artists and prey on people (women, elderly,etc) who may not know how everything works at those kind of places. I was especially pissed to have another woman try to do this to me. Either the people they hire there are dumb as hell or they are bad human beings. Save your items and go to a different spot for sure.

I don't know what other reviewers are talking about. I went to STR and they were polite honest and efficient they paid the price they quoted me over the phone for the cast aluminum, steel and mixed metal. Basically I had a very pleasant experience and won't go to any other place. Thank you STR for the great service.

This place tries to rip you off absolutely every time. This is the EXACT thing they have done for three times in a row now: When you call them, they will give you a high scrap price.... and each time you call it will be different. Then, when you get there, all of a sudden the price will change by 80%. Today, they offered .57 cents a pound over the phone, and when I got there, the price was suddenly .10 cents. If you go ahead with the exchange anyway, when they finally hand you the cash, it won't even be the lower amount they even promised upon arrival, they will have ripped you off again.... and now they already have your metal. (This happened the first time I went...... and I just thought I would be careful on subsequent visits.) SO, just forget this place already. I left STR and went down the road to a competitor in Tarpon (there are two), and they paid exactly what they promised over the phone, which was many times more than STR. And they were very friendly as well.

These guys will lie and cheat you out of your money on new steel. I go here ONLY when I need stuff local short notice. They will up charge you and tell ya it's different types of steel and change price depending who you are big time. If I didn't know steel they would of gotten me today. Be smart can buy whole lengths in Tampa for cost of 8' here

I like the fact that they are a family run business and have been in that same location for over 25 years when I first moved down here. So they must be doing something right. I am always satisfied with the prices they pay and they are very friendly and helpful.
